G'day, I'm Paul.
This is the, wait for it, Lamborghini Urus Performante Ascensa SC V12, and that is the
Aston Martin DBX 707.
Now, this is a twin-turbo V8, but importantly, this car is only available to people that
have bought the Ascensa SC V12 hypercar, so Lawrence, who's loaning us his cars, has one
of those as well.
Alvorz, tell us about the Aston over there.
Well, mate, this is the F1 medical safety car.
So, today I'm going to be driving faster than Lance Stroll, but other than that, this is
pretty much the best Aston Martin SUV you can buy.
Now, we know the original wasn't very fast, but this thing, you know, with over 700 horsepower
is just insane.
So, I'm really looking forward to it, but I gotta tell you, man, that thing looks epic.
It does, and it also doesn't have a Mercedes-Benz engine like you do, but anyway.
Just as a reminder as well, this is not a prepped surface.
It is also very wet today, so the times that you see out of these cars are not going to
be representative of what you typically see at a drag strip or a dry road or anything
like that.
So, please do keep that in mind before you furiously comment away, but let's get started.
Launching on go.
Three, two, one.
Oh, we'll burn out.
It just basically stopped there.
This thing is mental.
Oh my God, it is so fast.
Man.
It did look like you didn't get traction there, though.
Did you struggle with traction off the line?
You sort of launched and then it just cut you off.
This thing's actually really quick, but I just bogged down completely at the start and
you were gone, but when I started moving, man, I actually reckon I was catching it.
You know what?
It's so funny, because you've got a Mercedes-Benz engine in, I don't know, what order this series
is going to go in, but when we had the AMG GT Black Series, it just, the launch control
and the traction control is so bad that it just kills all of your torque, but then once
it hooks up, it actually accelerates really hard, because I wasn't gaining distance on
you.
I kept the same distance.
So, let's try it one more time.
Then, what I reckon we do, if it makes no difference, let's both try without launch
control.
That way, you won't sort of get bogged down and we'll see what happens.
Oh, this time I bogged down.
Yes, that was a way better launch off the line.
Oh, yes.
Come on.
Oh dear, I'm in trouble now.
Yeah, he is definitely accelerating.
That is so annoying.
That's what happens when you get a good launch.
I am winning.
I am...
That is so annoying.
Excellent.
Fantastic.
That's how you do it.
Oh, that was close.
That time I bogged down for some reason.
You got a nice and clean start, but you were pulling away, but then I started catching
you.
This is actually really quite close.
Yes, that was much closer.
I had a good launch there.
I don't know if you were catching me though.
I was looking.
I'm not sure if you were catching me.
All right, let's do one more with launch control, and that'll settle the launch starts, and
then we'll do one without launch control as well.
All right, here we go.
Pressure's on.
Oh, nice launch.
Excellent.
See you, champ.
Yes, yes.
Oh, no.
Oh, I got bogged down.
No.
That traction control system is hideously bad.
No, no, no, no, no.
God damn it.
Excellent.
I just got bogged down.
It just seems to be whoever gets the better launch, because these cars are actually very,
very equal.
All right, let's take the launch away from it.
Let's just do no launch control, okay?
I have a feeling that's going to benefit you more than it's going to benefit me, but let's
give it a go.
G'day, I'm Paul.
We are filming our next drag race series where we take some of the fastest cars on the road
and pit them up against each other to see which is quickest.
The cars we're running today are powered by premium 98 Kel-Tex with Tekron.
Kel-Tex with Tekron has been scientifically proven to help clean and protect engines.
A clean engine helps maximise power and acceleration, providing better fuel economy, reliable performance
and delivering a smoother drive.
Head to keltex.com.au for more information, and I'll see you on the finish line.
Count us in when you're ready, Megan.
And Elbaz, no brake boosting.
I guarantee you he's brake boosting.
Just telling me not to brake boost.
Shit, come on!
Look at the lift on the front of his!
Oh no, he's got me!
Come on!
Come on, yes!
No!
Yes!
Yeah!
Oh, damn it!
That's so annoying.
Ooh, that's it.
That's how you do it.
You just, just won.
I had such a good start as well, it was nice and clean.
I reckon this is a tie.
These cars are pretty much exactly the same.
Yeah, I think that is slightly quicker, though.
It's, um, yeah.
Anyway, alright, let's go do a rolling race, and that will settle it once and for all.
Okay, so, now we're going to do a roll race.
We're going to roll up to 30 k's an hour, and once we hit that first white line, it is on.
So, got that in manual.
Elbaz, you good?
I'm so good.
Let's go.
I have to manually shift because it will hit the limit in here, so.
I am so much faster.
Oh, yeah, he's got me here.
That's, uh.
Bye-bye.
Enjoy.
That is, that'll do it.
That is what I call a clean victory.
I think it is fair to say that the DBX707 is the victor here.
I actually remember when we drag raced this in our last series, the normal DBX,
and we had that, um, it wasn't a Mansory kit, it wasn't something equally awful,
but that, that actually was quite slow.
That, that is very, very quick.
This is a significant improvement on the original DBX,
and it also has a touchscreen, which the old one didn't have.
So, well done, Aston Martin.
You finally made a working SUV.
All right, well, I'm going to throw over to our timed runs now,
where I'm going to be quiet and you can have a listen to these things
and the fake sound in this car going down the quarter mile.
Thank you so much for watching.
We've got a lot of videos in this series,
so head to the playlist on our YouTube channel to check those out.
And a big shout out, one more time, to our mate Lawrence
for lending us these incredible cars,
and to the city of Wyalkatchem for letting us take their airport over for a week.
But until next time, take it easy.
