Let's shoot some hundred yarders see how good of a group we can get.
What's that buck from open season Elliot? One horn buck? That's what this guy is.
Welcome to today's video everyone. I am a terrible human and I left my 3D targets out all winter
long. I do not recommend that because they wear and tear a lot faster but it's a fantastic day
out today. It's finally feeling like spring so we're gonna fix up the 3D range a little bit
and then I'm gonna shoot my hunting bow and check all my distances and maybe run through
a couple things because I go to Texas tomorrow with my good buddy Willie on an axis hunt so I
just want to make sure that the bow is good and dialed in. I'm also going to bring my turkey bow
maybe I'll shoot a turkey but yeah this is going to be a quick little montage of me putting these
targets back together and I think this caribou is broken. Yeah R.I.P. This is what happens when
you leave them out. You have to shoot a couple screws in that or something. Take an antler over
here. What's that buck from open season Elliot? One horn buck? That's what this guy is.
This one has seen better days. I honestly think that in November a buck came and fought it because
somehow this got ripped off so R.I.P. to this target altogether. It is trash.
I think like a cat or something got a hold of this one. I don't know what's going on.
I don't know what happened but his head got knocked off at some point.
She's bent over a little bit. Maybe a buck charged this one too.
Good as new. Our moosey friend loses his antlers all the time too.
Here's the other antler. It's cracked off and that is bent. Nice.
All right morel deer target.
Hey I swear. All right there.
Buck's been fighting a lot. Broken. The target's seen better days too. I've had it for like three
or four years now. All right I'll put this Mod Pro somewhere for fun.
All right let's shoot the hunting bow a little bit. What a plethora of targets. This is one
I literally only own five arrows that are functional right now. I broke them all during
hunting season so I got to steal some of my own arrows. This is where I wish I could just go
shoot them all in one standing. Good thing I know a guy and I know where they are.
To slip in there in the night and steal them. I'm still running a five pin for like we're still
hunting access deer this weekend and everything so running a five pin is great for that.
Kind of my choice for a hunting rig now is a five pin but we'll start we'll shoot at this antelope
all the way on the right. 46 touch left. I love shooting at random distances too like that was
46.5. Like going to a random distance practicing your pin gapping stuff like that is so valuable.
All right elk is still 46. There we go that was good left right. Shoot our caribou friend his
head's probably gonna fall off. Battery just died. Okay good timing my rangefinder just died
which I'll switch this out. This is the Sig Sauer Kilo 5k. It's been my workhorse rangefinder but
I looked through one of my friends had this one and I was like man that is pretty like way better.
This is the Kilo 8k from Sig Sauer. Works with Onyx for dropping pins along with the 5k but
this rangefinder is insane. The decimal like all the way down in the decimal is incredibly accurate.
I'm excited to get this set up. I just haven't had time yet to get it set up
but now I'm gonna be forced to. So I'm gonna riff through this get it in archery mode.
This is more of a rifle rangefinder but it does have an archery mode. Arrow speed is what is my
So you can punch in your arrow speed 310 feet per second and we're in archery mode. What's crazy is
this rangefinder even tells you which way you're pointed. Like it knows I'm pointed south
and then southeast, east, northeast, north. Oh my gosh that is crazy. Changes on a dime.
7.2, 7.4, 7.4 yards to that target right there. This rangefinder is silly. It's a little bit on
the pricier side but for an end-all be-all rangefinder I'm super excited about this.
Kilo 8k from Sig Sauer and it comes in this cool carry case. It even, this is how nice this
rangefinder is, is it comes with a little win deal. I've never used one of these but I think
it links with the rangefinder and tells you like your holdover and stuff. Well above my pay grade.
I don't dive into that stuff. And then it also has a little rangefinder sleeve so if you want
to put it on a tripod for like long distance thousand yard shooting to get the exact range
it's kind of cool too. And it has an extra battery which I'm going to right now put in my gear,
my little gear bag here. Which in my gear bag since I'm here I have a pair of allen wrenches,
I have extra blades, I have an outdoor edge, I have a little bit of serving
material. I typically have a lighter in here which I don't now I do. Just a little emergency
you're up in the stand out walking around and just need to fix something fast so now I got a
rangefinder battery in there. Okay so we'll get these swapped out real quick and we'll be back
up and rolling and it'll also be good just to double check because you never know rangefinder
might be slightly different. I'm retrofitting this is a Sika gear
tether rangefinder tether so I'm just kind of retrofitting it on this marsupial one.
I jump around with vinyl harnesses I use them all well marsupial and Sika it kind of
for whitetail a lot I use the Sika one. Nice okay that knot did not work let me get another piece
okay much better knot okay we got a fresh rangefinder in our pouch now let's go try it
out. Jake's a lot smarter than me he's like hmm I think they they probably come with one don't
you think? Sure enough we look back in the box and there is a tether rangefinder tethered in
there so now I'm just putting it on the uh our old rangefinder so that it's ready for
it's ready for a backup one okay backup rangefinder just needs batteries okay let's
keep shooting. Did I shoot the caribou already? No the head just fell off on its own. Let's get a range
wow the decimals are very dialed in forget what it is 46.2 again
beautiful let's shoot the morel buck in the shade way back there a little tricky shot
48 on the dot very nice I really like this setup where there's some targets are in the sun some
targets are in the shade because it's great practicing in situations where there's like
like this morel target over there has a little bit of shade on it which makes it
also tricky some being in full shade some being in full sun it just helps with diversity to really
learn how to aim and practice in different situations very nice we'll back it up after
this one shoot some further stuff wasn't aiming for the rings just aiming for a kill shot we got
another kill shot kill shot kill shot and then that antelope I was a little left but
still in the back of the lungs
okay I'll shoot the antelope again 61 right in the pocket
59 okay the elk is at 70 shoot this buck back there in the shade old Elliot
right in the pocket hard shot shady morel buck again trending like a little bit right I think
though it's like two inches right kill shot this was a perfect shot but again just like two inches
right of where I was aiming Mr. Moose two inches right elk two inches right and this was a little
low but also about two inches 79 to the antelope pretty good shoot at that Elliot deer in the back
83.7 right in the tendering and do one more there oh that's right
shoulder shot okay I have one more I'm gonna back up one more I think next time I'm gonna get it
move a target and do some hundred yard shots see what that scene is at 95 we might as well do 100
winds picking up which I don't love 100.2
pocket rocket right in the crease I love that all right I might move uh one of these morel
targets and I just want to do like a couple hundred yard groups and see see how I'm shooting
show all my flaws just aim at those red punch out holes this was this was the shoulder shot that I
called out this was the 90 yard or 80 something yarder this was the hundred this last one just
funny it's like the best shot right in the crease then this antelope forget how far that was 70
something two shots good let's shoot some hundred yarders see how good of a group we can get
wind is picking up a little bit which I don't like but we'll see shooting far distances shows
all of your flaws sees what you need to work on so stretching it out like just ran through my
sight tape a little bit um sight tape's pretty much well on which is great because that sight
tape's been on pretty much all season long so it's great that the bow is still on you always
want to do that before going on a hunting trip or even just periodically throughout the season
so that's good total archery is coming up so I don't have to tweak anything there really
probably switch to a single pin if I decide to shoot this bow
go steal some more arrows we're sitting pretty good I like it 100 yards is a far ways
right in the middle I just did that anchor point video a couple videos ago and this 100 yards goes
to show like I'm just I'm having to like almost float down below my jaw everything's in a different
position than if it was at 20 so when you really stretch it out like this it really shows that
your anchor point just kind of floats around those two arrows are touching down there I
absolutely love that right good little group down there
that was our biggest flyer just a little low right I was just a little weak on that shot
not bad though I'd take it they'd all be in a kill zone of a deer not that I want to shoot
a deer at 100 but I wonder if we can get further I don't have any more arrows but I'm just seeing
108 110 we might try it okay these are my first two these are my second two this is my last one
they are technically all inside of the lung diagram on this target which I will take for
100 yards I'm super happy with that 110
right side the wind caught me at the last second yeah
there we go that was a middle touch high
let's touch right I got three like just right of the middle one little high
right there in that same group I just got a little group just to the right
which is good 110 yard group trending right which is probably just the wind because the
wind is going that way but drifting off I don't know what was up with this high one but
still really good group for 110 I mean can't take much more but we're going to keep on stretching
it back see if we can get 120 122 121 I think I can aim right on still yeah easy money still got
really good clearance 121 yards see if we can hit this
hit it very nice that was a very nice shot
good shot again trending a little left left I think yeah good bit left there every little
thing matters as far back up towards the middle but I am like two inches left on all of them
not bad just trending a touch left I feel like this distance if you can hit that block down
there that's like shooting a 10 at 20 yards that's what I feel like and then if you can get like a
good group at this distance that's like shooting an x at 20 yards that's what I feel like the
difficulty level at least for me what it's about but let's go pull them and we'll see if we can get
a better group trending just a smidge left but for 121 yards it's not that bad I can almost get
a two-hand group around it I guess that's the goal if we can get we can get about like that
right in the middle so let's try again we'll just try to get a better group
that was dead middle that was perfect
oh that was left
high left corner lame dude that was back to good if it's a good shot they're good if it's bad though
they are bad not bad last four were a really good group I just or I had that one flyer and
the four of them are good so go check them out it's fun shooting far like this and it shows all
your flaws really makes you dial in really makes you focus on aiming and making good shot so it's
always fun stretching it out 121 yards it's about as far as my sight can go well I could probably
get my sight tape runs out at 123 I guess so aiming right on though that's another good thing
about running a five pin like that because you're aiming with your bottom pin so it gives you a
fun little practice I'm gonna call it one bad shot this is my one bad shot
and when you just look at my good shots it's pretty good I wish you could do that all the
time pull your bad shots but all four of those are in the lungs of this morel target
so it's fun to do this good little challenge to get out stretch your distance out
see you know pretty much whatever your max distance is get out there and shoot this spring
really try to work on some stuff you just see all everything's amplified when you get out at
a further distance then when you bump up to closer distance it just makes it a little bit easier and
then you're a little bit better archer so thank you all for watching hope you enjoyed me just
dinking around shooting some arrows we'll catch you in the next one
