Once a place of laughter and summer fun, Lake Shawnee Amusement Park now stands frozen in time — rusted rides, faded signs, and an unsettling quiet that carries stories of tragedy and loss.
In this video, I explore the remains of this infamous West Virginia amusement park, known as one of the most haunted places in America. From the eerie swings that still move with the wind to the lake that hides a darker history beneath its surface, Lake Shawnee holds more than memories — it holds ghosts.
Join me as I walk through the ruins, uncover the legends behind the park’s curse, and show what’s left of this chilling piece of Americana.
🕰️ Location: Lake Shawnee, West Virginia 🎥 Exploration Type: Abandoned / Haunted / Urban Exploration 👻 Warning: You might not look at amusement parks the same way again.
All right, guys. Today's video we're at
Lake Shaune.
This place is absolutely insane. At the
entrance, you're greeted with a crazy
looking clown.
Got some leftovers here.
All right, the first spot we're going to
stop at is a haunted house they have on
the grounds.
I'm not sure how old this haunted house
is.
Doesn't look too old,
but still pretty cool. We'll check it
out. And
yeah, it's very bright, guys. Sorry
about that. But should be a little
darker in here.
So, this is
the haunted house.
I just hope there's nobody in here
waiting for me to jump out.
It's mostly tarps.
The Bates Motel.
Haunted West Virginia. Oh no.
Okay, I'm not crawling through that.
Pretty cool.
Think we do have to go through this
tunnel. Wasn't
[Applause]
so bad.
Another stuffed animal.
Murder.
Interesting.
This is very like messy.
Oh, okay.
This is pretty creepy in here.
just married.
[Music]
This is
crazy.
Oh,
clowns are sick.
[Applause]
Whoa.
I mean, not that creepy, but I guess at
night it would be,
especially with people yelling at you.
This looks like it might be the end.
Yep.
Looks like there's more over here. Oh,
it's old toilet.
This is cool.
It's like a school bus over there.
How do we get into this school bus?
Bye. Watch out.
>> We at the North Pole. I don't know if
the North Pole is very creepy.
Oh.
Okay.
That's kind of creepy.
All the children's toys up here, too.
Wonder that
this thing keeps moving up here.
All right, I think we're almost done
with this.
I'm not sure if I go here or up here.
This one doesn't want to open.
Yeah, I don't think I'm going the right
way in this place, but
it's creepy.
This guy's pretty cool.
Yeah, guys, I didn't know all this was
at Lake Shaunie. It's pretty cool.
Definitely different.
We're going to follow Rachel through
this last pit.
All it is is just
freaking pallets and blankets. And
there's a carpenter be
Oh, we're back where we started.
Okay.
Next to this house, we have a trailer.
I don't think they use this for the
haunted house.
Um,
yeah, this is pretty destroyed.
Don't think I would be able to walk
through here without falling to the
floor.
old TVs.
Well, that's that. Here's the front.
This is creepy as hell.
This is definitely some hills have eyes
kind of [ __ ]
So, here's the RV that that man on uh I
think Net Geo stayed in
for like 40 days.
It's just full of lighting.
Pretty cool.
So, this is the old barn area,
and this
is actually for a movie that's coming
out, and they're going to be filming
here for the next few days. They're
supposed to cover this whole wall with
like the old boards and stuff. Yeah,
it's going to film a movie here.
Uh, I don't not sure what it's called.
I think it's like cryptic.
But yeah, be a new movie here.
So, we're check out the old bus. This
bus was it belonged to the caries at one
point and now here forever,
but this is a carne bus.
I wonder if people still sleep in here
cuz I know they have overnight tours.
Ghostbusters. Perfect for this spot.
There are reports of many ghosts here. I
don't know if I believe in that, but if
you guys do, you can look into it.
I will tell you some of the actual
history here as we go through
the park.
Rachel's taking a picture of this bus.
It's actually really cool.
Man, I love the old dusty bus.
Old slide in here.
So,
there are reports of I think three kids
that died in this park.
Two
drowned in this lake and one we'll I'll
tell you about over there by the ferris
wheel.
So people come and leave toys for the
kids that died. There's like stuffed
animals everywhere that we'll see. And
look at all these. These are all
offerings for the kids.
There's a reason there is a bunch at
this toll booth is cuz this is where a
lot of the sightings are. Again, I don't
believe in this stuff, but if you do, go
ahead and look some of it up.
So, the park did open in 1926
and it was closed in 1966
and then the current owners bought it in
1985,
reopened it for like 3 years and then
ran out of money, had to close it. They
sold
much of the attractions.
There was a roller coaster right here
they sold
and that's pretty much it.
That guy's driving backwards. It's kind
of wild.
But but
yeah, so they sold that. They're trying
to get money back for the place, but
they cut the land. They were going to
build town houses here,
but they couldn't sell the ferris wheel
or the swings.
So therefore, they didn't have enough
money to do that. So
now they just do tours. If you ever want
to do a tour here, you can just go on
their website and it's like a small fee,
but it's definitely worth it.
Yeah. Two kids died in this lake. One
was on a canoe and drowned and one got
caught up in like a sewer pipe, I think,
and died.
They say they still
that car bass. They say they still see
the one kid up at the front gate and
that's why they leave stuffed animals up
there. So, if you ever played the game
Fallout 76,
this sign and this whole part is all in
the game. That's pretty cool. I wonder
if they'll film some of the future
episodes here. So, we got this old
vehicle here.
It's pretty old. I'm not sure what this
was used for. Looks like kind of a
delivery truck.
There's so many spider webs in here.
All right, now we're getting to like the
main like coolest parts.
So, this is the swing set.
So, the one girl that died was on this
swing set.
She was swinging
and a truck like that backed into her
and killed her.
And that's why all of these stuffed
animals are here to pay tribute to the
little girl.
Now look at this.
So many

So, here's one of the ticket booths for
the ferris wheel.
The lights are still on.
Oh, look at the change.
[Music]
They say when these spin it's the
ghosts, but it's definitely just wind.
And here is the coolest thing in this
park. I think
they said they bought it in ' 85 from
Jersey.
Sitting decaying here now.
Don't think anybody ever died on this,
but it's still really cool.
Man, check out that painting. Oh, it's
so pretty.
All right, guys. That's going to do it
for this place. What an amazing little
adventure. Quick video, but lots of fun.
