What will win in a drag race between the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid with GT package?
Long name.
The new Lamborghini Urus SE, the hybrid, the Ferrari Pura Sangue, and the Audi RS Q8 Performance.
Well, we're going to find out by racing them over the standing quarter mile.
I'm Matt Watson and you're watching Car Wow.
The Audi RS Q8 Performance has a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, 640 horsepower, 850 newton
metres of torque, all-wheel drive, and an eight-speed automatic gearbox with launch
control.
It weighs 2,275 kilograms and costs from £140,000.
The Ferrari Pura Sangue has a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 with 725 horsepower, 716 newton
metres of torque, all-wheel drive, and an eight-speed automatic gearbox with launch
control.
It weighs around 2,150 kilograms and starts from £313,000.

It's a hybrid.
There's 800 horsepower, 950 newton metres of torque, all-wheel drive, an eight-speed

eight-speed automatic gearbox with launch control.
It weighs 2,495 kilograms and costs from £166,000.
This can be a very interesting race because we've got three VW Group cars against Ferrari,
but Ferraris are fast.
I think it could be up to the task, but let's see what the driver of that bright blue Lambo
thinks.
I know you're in another Urus.
You've had Uruses kind of from as long as I can remember, really, but they're always
slightly different.
So what's this one?
Hi, Matt.
I'm in the Urus SA.
Obviously, it says SE on the side, but they call it SA.
It's the new hybrid.
It's 800 brake horsepower, and I'm here to do some damage.
Oh, my God.
You had a lot of coffee this morning.
Tommy, naturally aspirated V12, the only naturally aspirated car here, but you've got four extra
cylinders over everyone else.
Do you need any electric hybrid boosting?
I don't think you do, do you?
I don't think I do either, and I think I'm lighter than everyone, so hopefully that helps
in my favour.
Finally then, Sam, in the RS Q8, down on power, but you have maximum skill, because you're
a racing driver.
Yeah, I can release the brake better than any man alive.
Oh, you're so sarcastic.
Let's start off with a sound check.
So Sam, can you depress the throttle better than any man alive now so we can hear the
engine?
Soft, soft, soft.
Depress is correct.
I thought so.
Tommy, let's listen to your V12.
Wow.
I just realised all you guys have the same engine.
I know.
It's not going to get better with the Lamborghini.
Yeah, it will.
The Lamborghini will be slightly better than the Audi.
Go on, Lambo.
That actually scared me.
I opened the window and I jumped.
I've got the burbles.
This is going to sound like most of the Porsches, so a vacuum cleaner, unless it's a GT car,
but here we go.
I mean, this is the same engine as yours, Yanni, but how much better is your exhaust?
Ten times better, thank you.
Now, did I tell you, you can now buy used cars through CarWare?
You've got a whole range of used cars and I've actually got a used version of one of
these cars through CarWare.
I'll put a link up there and in the pinned comment and in the description.
So, click that link, follow the QR code, whatever, to go and find out about that used car.
So, yeah, CarWare is now doing used cars.
You can buy new, you can buy used and, of course, you can sell your car through CarWare.
We do the lot and we do drag races.
So, shall we drag race?
That's what you came here for, isn't it?
Matt, by the way, this car is box fresh.
I've got 537 miles.
I assume that's enough.
I've checked to see if it goes in launch and it does.
Did you read the manual about the running period?
Yes.
No.
Is there a running period?
No.
Do you want to race?
I sure do want to race.
You know when you bought the car, were you gentle with the throttle or did you just have
a blast straight away?
Day one, you've got to give it a lot more at the start because then the car runs in
faster and it feels faster.
Yeah.
Run it in fast, make it fast.
That's right.
Before we start, let's just do a quick prediction of what we think is going to happen.
Sam, who do you think is going to win?
Me.
Ever confident racing driver.
Okay.
Tommy?
Me in my Pro Sangre with a child seat in the back.
Yanni, I know what you're going to say.
I'm backing my own car.
Come on, the Urus.
Do you know what?
I'm backing this as well.
I think this is going to win because, you know, Porsche power.
Three, two.
Well, I'll let those guys go first, shall I?
Let's abandon.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
But do you know what, Tommy?
All the VW group vehicles launched perfectly, but the Ferrari failed.
Well, maybe you failed.
You know, it's just an Italian thing, you know, leaving you guys in suspense.
So the real reason is?
I have no clue.
Did you **** up a little bit?
It went into launch, but when I put my foot on the accelerator, it just went to like 1,000
RPM.
And so, yeah.
Do you want to have a little launch to see if it actually launches?
Yeah, launch is fine now.
Yeah, yeah.
When it's not racing.
I think your car is frightened.
It's outnumbered three to one.
Or it feels sorry for you guys all having the same car in different colours.
That is true.
At least yours is unique.
Mine had a gearbox fault coming up.
Just saying it's overheated, but it seems to be all right now.
And also with this, it's a bit different because it goes, you've got to put the launch in,
it prepares, and then it goes into launch.
So I've got to try and work out the timing.
Because obviously, he comes to me one before you.
Do you want it to come to you last then, if yours is tricky?
Because this is a Porsche and it will just launch all day, every day.
Even though it's the same car, they just make them better in Germany than Italy.
It's not that it's tricky.
It takes a bit longer to go into launch.
It's preparing, then it goes into launch.
God, this is the biggest amount of pre-race preamble ever.
Shall we just carry on as normal?
Three, two.
Oh, wait.
I didn't thumbs up, Will.
This is a f***ing joke, this is.
Let's try again.
I'm going home.
This is a Porsche.
This just does it normally.
It's no problem with a Porsche.
That was driver error.
It wasn't car error.
That was starter error.
I was busy looking down, waiting for you.
I thought you were fanning about trying to get your car working, but anyway.
Oh, here we go, f***ing hell.
My car was ready to launch.
I'm just going to go and un-launch.
Listen, I'm going for a piss.
Is it lunchtime yet?
Can we have lunch?
I know you so well.
Go to Tommy.
Even if I don't know.
Think I'm stupid.
All right, let's do it, I think.
Three, two, one.
Well, that's interesting what's happening behind.
Your brakes are on fire, Yanni.
I'll go do some driving.
Well done, Sam.
Good launch from you, mate.
Considering you're down on power to everyone else, you beat them, didn't you?
Apart from me.
Yep, yep.
The Audi came first and second.
Did it come last as well?
The Ferrari came last.
But I want to check one thing, and I'm surprised Sam and Yanni hasn't called it yet.
Stuart, did I jump?
Yes, you did jump.
Yes, you jumped, mate.
Yes, you jumped.
I f***ing jumped.
Okay, that race doesn't count.
Did Sam jump as well?
Sam did not jump.
Consummate professional.
That's why we pay you the big bucks.
I was going to say big bucks, but we don't.
That's why we pay you some money to come along, because you just nail it every time.
We'll have a chat about money at lunchtime, Matthew.
Three, two, one.
Oh, we've got a race on here.
We'll have a chat about money at lunchtime, Matthew.
Come on!
Oh, wow, they're all coming.
Come on, Ferrari!
We'll have a chat about money.
Whoa, here comes the Ferrari now.
We'll have a chat about money.
What?
I got a warning come up as your hands were going up.
That was a wicked race, that was.
Do you know what?
This is a joke.
I saw the Audi fail to launch.
I thought, let me just keep going.
I know, that was too good.
That was too good a race.
And the time on this car was mega.
And that Ferrari was pulling everyone back in.
I think a bit more room, you'd have beaten me.
Yeah, yeah, definitely.
I was getting there.
Sam, that's one race, OK?
It's 1-0 to the Porsche.
Let's have another go.
You're not going to win anything anyway, Sam.
You're just there because we want to have you along in the video.
I love the way everybody f***s up and we keep rerunning the races.
And then this car actually has a problem
and they're going to just run the race without it.
Unbelievable.
That's a good point, actually, Sam.
Let's do it all again.
So that race is disqualified as well.
So we've had about three or four races now
and we haven't actually done a clean race.
Whoever wins, wins, OK?
And that's the result.
I hope I get off good.
You always get off good, you do.
Three, two...
I'm pushing the...
It's now decided to just push through its brakes.
That's the joys of a ZF eight-speed gearbox.
No real launch control.
It's like, why is it even saying launch
when it's just, like, cruising forward?
Ten o'clock and we haven't managed to get one drag race done yet.
This is a joke.
This is a shambles, isn't it?
And these are supposed to be the easiest cars to drive.
Three, two...
Oh, no, I f***ing jumped.
I f***ing jumped.
I jumped.
For f***s sake.
I might have to sit this one out.
I don't think I can do this.
Matt, do you want an adult to switch with you
and push the brake pedal for you?
Yes, I do, actually.
Well, I've done 541 miles now,
so at least my mileage is going up.
I love that all that mileage is just launches.
And for no actual completed drag race.
Tommy just lost his mind in there, laughing his head off.
I don't know why.
It's so funny.
Listen, if you love drag racing,
but you like shorter drag race videos,
we've got a new channel for you called Car Wow Drags.
And you can subscribe to it by clicking on the pop-out banner
or following the QR code or the link in the description.
And we'll be uploading short, full,
like, kind of three to five-minute-long drag race videos.
Same kind of drag race videos you love,
but shorter.
Three, two, one.
I held that back.
Come on.
Oh, it's close.
This car is just not launching today.
You had one good race
and then it's when Sam's car didn't work.
Steward, can we just check that Sam didn't jump?
If you didn't jump, you're on it.
I was a bit delayed
because I was paranoid about jumping.
But let's see how on it you were, Sam.
So, Sam and Yannick jump.
We haven't done a single race.
And the best thing about this,
I have no idea what's going to win.
I have no idea
because we haven't had a good start from anyone.
This is just an absolute **** show.
My launches are getting worse and worse.
It's like I take my foot off the brake
and the delay just changes.
Do you know what?
Jump then.
Because we'll probably jump as well.
Or someone will.
You know, I saw this drag race
and I thought,
this is easy.
This is just easy to do.
Nice, easy day.
But this is turning into utter chaos.
3, 2, 1.
That's better.
Where's that Ferrari?
Come on, Ferrari!
Yes!
Italian power!
Ferrari!
We just call that as a day.
Like, I can't face doing it again.
Yeah, my launch weren't great though, typical.
Ferrari?
Came second.
Had a good launch
but the Porsche launch was just way better.
I was bogging and sliding.
Sam?
Yeah, good launch.
I could have been a touch delayed
but I wouldn't want to risk doing that again.
That was pretty good, I think.
I think that's about the right result as well, don't you?
We'll never know.
Let's do the thing anyway.
Yeah, I'm not happy about that
because I've come last now
and I've never come last in any of the other races
and for the first time I've come last now.
Let's just go back to the line.
I don't emotionally have another launch in me,
I'm afraid.
I don't know if I do
but let's just find out.
That Urus should at least be the RSQ8.
Three, two...
Here we go.
Launch!
That's better.
But the Ferrari's...
OK.
So, you did a bit better that time, didn't you, Jan?
Yeah, I hope so.
God knows what we're going to find out now anyway.
OK.
Tommy, yours wasn't so good, was it?
Bogged down.
I even let go of the brake early
and I still left the line after everyone.
And Sam?
That's the best launch this one's done
so I'm happy.
Let's keep it.
All those three cars performed slightly differently
whereas this Porsche has just been performing the same
over and over again.
The only problem with the Porsche has been me.
That's very true.
It's always at the front.
OK.
That's it then.
Good luck to the editor
trying to make a good video out of that.
So then what exactly happened?
Well, the Porsche won.
It completed the standing quarter mile
in 11.4 seconds.
Next was the Lamborghini
just ahead of the Audi.
Both cars crossed the line
in 11.5 seconds.
In last place was the Ferrari.
It did the standing quarter mile
in 11.6 seconds.
Before our next race
a little message that could well help you
if you're looking to buy a used car,
bike or van anytime soon.
We've partnered with our friends at CarVertical
to give you a special offer
to check that it's not a write-off,
stolen or had its mileage changed.
Look at this Volvo V90 on CarVertical.
It's got green ticks for odometer and finance
but warnings for damage and theft.
Why?
It was previously stolen
and involved in an accident.
You'd never have known that
without a car history check.
So when buying a used car,
bike or van
run a CarVertical report
using code CARWOW
for 20% off
or by following the link
in the description.
Now back to the race.
Right, now we're going for a rolling race.
We're going to put the cars
in their like hybrid
or normal comfort mode.
We're in automatic modes
for the gearbox.
Imagine you're just cruising along
50mph
then all of a sudden
you want to race.
So I'll call it in 3, 2, 1
then we're going to race
in the half mile
and see which car is quickest.
3, 2, 1, go.
Blimey!
Where was my car?
That's interesting.
Just how quick
the RS Q8 was.
I don't understand it.
That was the weirdest thing ever.
That didn't play out
how I thought it would at all.
First of all, Sam
were you in like
comfort mode
and automatic mode
for the gearbox
because your car
just shot off
ahead of these hybrids
which was odd.
I'm pointing at
E1 efficiency
and it's all green.
So this dropped
45 gears
took a lifetime
and then just took off.
This took ages to kick down
as well
and everyone had took off.
You were all like
half a car length
ahead of me.
What happened to your car, Yanni?
It's like you lift off
the accelerator.
Just hybrid.
Just slow.
Just didn't give me
no sort of acceleration
just normal.
Yeah.
I wonder if it just like
reduces the power
on hybrid mode for that.
This Porsche doesn't
it was pulling
and it was so close
between the three of us
at the end.
I think Sam just beat us
to the half mile, Tommy
but between me and you
I'm not sure.
That looked like a hybrid
while these look like
normal cars.
That looked electric
actually, didn't it?
It looked electric.
That's why I was just
like wondering if Sam
was just cheating
because sometimes he does cheat.
Let's do it in sports
your Corsa mode
in manual, OK?
Three
two
one
go.
Sport response then.
That was a clear win
for the Ferrari
and you were in third gear.
Absolutely, yeah.
I just took off.
The Audi was so far behind
then.
It was like a complete reversal.
Yeah, but I guess
that's just down to comfort
and gearbox settings
isn't it?
When it was just raw pace
we just saw this as lacking
a couple hundred horsepower
didn't it?
Yeah, but I was surprised
about the Lamborghini
I mean maybe because
it's only done 500 miles
and it's loose enough
I think we might have to
get it back for another race.
It seems OK
it definitely feels quicker
than what it was
but
who knows.
Right, now we're going
to do a brake test
from 100 miles an hour
when we reach the cones
for an emergency stop
car that stops
in the shortest distance
wins.
Now if you'd rather watch
another drag race
click on the pop out
button up there
scan the QR code
on the screen
Here we go
that's 100 miles an hour
to the floor
Yes!
Do you know what
the problem there is Yanni?
What?
Weight.
Yeah, look at us
we're pretty much exact though.
Yeah, because our cars
are pretty much
exactly the same.
I think you were just
slightly behind me
I think you won
I think I came last.
It's a brake test
who cares?
Oh, come on
don't be like that.
Listen, I hope you all
enjoyed the video
if you did give it a like
let me know which of these cars
you'd rather have
let me know in the comments below
and if you click on the
Carwow logo
you can head over
to check out the
Carwow Drag Race Leaderboard
to compare these cars
quarter mile times
to everything else
we've ever drag raced.
Thanks for watching
and I'll see you next time.
