TK gets more seat time on the tractor and uses the grapple for the first time. At this rate, I'll be out of a job soon. Then again, I may just be out of a tractor if I don't armor plate the bottom of mine. We were able to get a lot of the pine debris stacked. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get all of it before the rain hit. Now we're in the middle of a soggy wet spell.
More beams are cut on the sawmill. There seems to be a market for pine beams in my area. There are a few larger mills in the area cutting beams, but they are all way higher in price. I'd rather keep mine low and try to break through my already cut inventory sooner rather than later.

You ready?
>> Yeah.
See the arrow?
>> This arrow points it down to the ground.
This arrow points it up in the air. Does
that make sense?
That means this has to go that way to go
up in the air.
Go all the way. It's kind of tough.
All the way. All the way.
There you go.
All right. Now, your grapple, your
loader is in the ground. You got to pick
up the loader. Okay,
that's good.
Now remember, left and right curls it.
Okay, so if I push it left, if you push
it left, what happens?
Go left.
Now go right.
Now go left.
All the way left.
Yep. All the way right.
Yep. Now go in the middle.
I'm I'm sorry. Go in the middle of the
travel. So go left until that's in the
middle.
Right about there. Huh? Right about
there. Now you have two buttons for your
thumb. You remember what they do?
Buttons for your thumb. There's thumb
buttons right there. Remember that. What
do they do?
Find out.
That one closes. That one opens. Open it
up all the way.
Now close it all the way.
Pretty cool, right? So, now you got to
use your brain to get on top of some
logs, put it open it up, put it down,
grab the log, pick it up, and then we
drive away. You want to try it?
>> Yeah.
>> All right, let's go. Hold on. We got to
make sure the dogs are not around you.
Graciey's okay. Go that way.
Nlly, no.
Let's make sure you're in the slow gear.
See how it says B right there? That's
the middle range. I want you to go to A.
So, it's slower. When it's slower, you
have more power. That's called low gear.
There you go. Now you're in low gear.
It's going to be a little slower, but
you got power.
Open it up.
Let's go down a little bit. Down.
That's good.
Drive forward slightly.
Now squeeze it.
You got it, girl. Pick it up.
That's good.
>> Going down just a little bit.
That's good.
Oh, I think I got to put her in
four-wheel drive.
Let's see what she does. Yep, she's
spinning over there.
Yeah, I got to put it in a four-wheel
drive.
Your tires are spinning
because only the back two are are have
power to them, right? So, we need to put
make all four tires spin. We got to put
it in four-wheel drive. That's this
lever right here. Push. Use your foot to
step on that and push it all the way
down.
It's a tough one, huh? Push all the way
down.
You want me to
Oh, you're actually stuck in between
gears. All right. Um,
go to neutral.
Wiggle one of the pedals.
Give the the forward or backward pedal.
Just give it a quick push.
All right, that's good.
There we go.
Sometimes it's a little tricky. Now you
got all four tires spinning.
Not grace. Not grace. Come on.
Snap that tree in half.
Oh, she's turning. Let's go this way.
Ning Grace, come on.
Hey, keep going back.
She's got a long swing on the front
here. Go back.
Gracie, that's not a stick. Gracie.
Gracie. Not a stick. Gracie. Grace.
Okay.
I think she ran over a stump. She knew
what she was doing and I told her to go
keep going back and she she ran over
that stump even further. She's going to
hit it with her tire. See what she does.
Oh, didn't run it over. Gracie, no
sticky. That's not a stick. Okay, Grace,
you have manners.
You have manners? No, not today. You do,
Mr. Nlly boy. You sure do.
Watch where you're driving.
There's a pole in front of you.
Don't run it over.
Oh, you coming this side.
Do your thing, girl. I'm confusing you.
Go ahead. Do your thing.
All right. So, this is I think the
second time using the grapple. She
Grace, leave it alone.
Grace, leave it alone.
So she is
>> burn pile.
Second time using the grass grapple. I
think I I I recall her. No, actually
first time grapple. She used the bucket
first. Okay.
She's driven the tractor many times.
She's used the bucket a few times. This
is the first time using a grapple.
Grace, no ma'am. Leave it alone, Grace.
That is not a boy.
Do it all by herself. Do whatever you
Yeah, you got it, girl.
Yes.
Oh, this is so cool. Got to watch the
dogs more than I got to watch her.
Gracie,
are you going to get a pine? Oh, running
over the tree. Okay. Okay. Let's see
what happens.
She's going in for a big bite.
She's going in for a big bite.
She put her down a little bit. It's too
much. Got to go up. There you go. There
you go. She's figuring it out.
She is figuring it out. She's going to
get whacked with trees over there.
Oh, she got a little bite.
Let's see what she does.
Yep. She didn't grab anything.
>> Try again. You're doing good, kiddo.
Too much. You're on the ground.
There you go. Got stay ground. Yeah.
Yeah. You're good. You got to stay above
the ground just a little bit.
You're good. You're good.
Heat. Heat.
She's got too big of a bite. You're
good.
>> Grace.
>> Grace.
Now go to your right and forward.
That's way too big of a log for the grip
that she has. It's just going to drop
here in a second. We'll figure out what
that looks like.
Yeah, I got a stopper. All right. So,
what you did, you did good. You got the
log, you got the tree in a position to
where we can more easily get at it.
Okay. It's kind of buried back there. We
couldn't find out where it is. Now, we
What's going on is this side over here
is super heavy compared to that side.
So, you're dragging over there on that
on that side. Does that make sense? What
we got to do is we got to let go back up
and then grab it once again in the
middle. Okay.
Now let go.
Nope. You got to let go.
Uh, sure. She outsmarted me.
Oh, I thought she was going to drive.
I don't know why she picked it up. All
right,
Gracie. Nelly, come this way.
Now she's got to get a grip in the
middle. Grace. No, ma'am.
He's got it.
He's all the way.
There you go. You got it.
She's getting a little flustered.
What?
Oh, it's not going to hit me. You're
good.
So, she got a little flustered there.
She didn't understand what I was saying,
and I wasn't really articulating it that
well. Uh, but, uh, she's doing great.
She's going to hit this pole. I think
she's trying to go in between two poles.
And I think the tree is bigger. She's
not going to damage the poles if she
hits them. It's okay.
Yeah, the the top over here is going to
hit right there. Just a little. It's
okay. That's okay. She avoided the big
one. Uh, she avoided the pole on the big
side.
Let's see if she remembers to uh drop
the curl. Curl it forward before she
drops it. Oh, she does.
Okay. Okay. Curl it some more. See what
happens. That's what I'm talking about.
That's awesome, girl.
Open the jaws. Open the Open the jaws.
Open the jaws. Molly and Grace. No.
Open the jaws all the way. There you go.
There you go.
She's doing great.
All right. So, this is her third drop,
and I'm not going to talk anymore. I'm
going to let her do what she wants and
and interact and see what does what. Oh,
she's got a soft spot right there.
Noted.
Let's let her do whatever she wants now.
See what uh see what she does.
Okay, that one's going up over the
poles, I guess. You're good. You good?
She's doing great. I'm going to give her
more space.
Let's
see what she does. Oh, you want me to
come up?
Try and give her more space. I think
she's done.
>> Yeah.
Love you.
Hey, you did fantastic.
What did you think?
>> Um, fun.
>> Huh?
Fun.
Was it a little bit tricky sometimes?
>> Yeah.
>> Do I give bad instructions sometimes?
Yeah, I understand. But you did
fantastic. I love you.
Heat up
here.
Heat up here.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat up
here.
Heat. Heat.
Everything okay?
>> No.
>> I bent a hydraulic line. I'm going to
have to take it off, straighten it out,
see if I can't
reuse it. If not, I got to buy a new
hydraulic line.
This thing needs underbody armor so bad.
Oh boy. Oh boy. Oh boy. Spraying fluid
from the bottom of the pump. That's
bent. That's the wrong angle.
So that means I pulled that solid line
that's on the bottom. Yep. Again.
All right.
So, this line right here comes from the
bottom of this uh filter block. Oh, I'm
sorry. This this line comes in from the
pump, right?
Yeah, I snagged it on something. See how
low it's hanging right there?
All right.
All right. Okay. Okay. Okay. But that's
going to have to wait for another day
cuz we have kung fu here in a little
bit. don't have time to get all dirty
and all that. Um,
got about half of that pine cleared up
and I've got to get it done before, see,
Saturday night. It's Thursday right now.
So, tomorrow and then the beginning of
the next day because
at that point we have 4 days of rain in
the forecast. Our rainy season, I think,
is about to begin. And where all that
pine is that I want to clear up? Well,
that's the lowest point of the clearing,
so it's going to be soggy for quite a
while. Good afternoon to you. It's
shortly afternoon.
And I had a productive morning so far. I
went over to my uncle's house or Jamie's
uncle's and cut up a stump that was in
the way of a fence line. Got it out of
the way. Didn't record any of that. But
I've got to get my tractor going again.
This hydraulic line underneath, I got to
put skid plate of some kind under there.
Uh, so I stopped bending this and
leaking fluid. Um, but I bent it. I got
to get this going again because someone
contacted me on Facebook needing two 6x6
6x6 or 4x6 two I think 6x6 posts um
today. So I got to get this going so I
can load some logs. I don't know if it's
going to be best to just take the whole
line off right here, this line, and uh
try and straighten it out or just bend
it back in place and then receat the
joints. I think it's just the joint
right here that was just spraying fluid.
What you doing, Gracie? What's he doing,
Gracie? I got to Oh, Gracie. That's my
belly. Gracie. No. No. No. No. Gracie,
that's my belly. Gracie. Grace.
Can't be climbing on my belly. I need to
push this up, but it won't go anymore.
Hm.
Well, maybe if I I don't know. So, it
just needs to bend that way.
Jeez Louise,
man.
The force that's required to push this
back
tells me a lot about the force that was
used to put it in this bent location.
Well, no luck bending the line back. Uh,
but I can tell definitely where it's
loose right here when I wiggle the line.
So, this I mean, hell heck. There's your
problem right there. 27 mm.
Back in business with the tractor.
Although I do not like how low that that
hose is hanging. I couldn't bend it
back. But it's all I could do right now.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat. Heat.
When I first got a tractor, tractor time
I'd consider like therapy time. And I
still do. It's It's a lot of fun just
zoning out on the tractor and, you know,
doing tractor things. And the sawmill is
kind of sort of becoming that same
thing. Just getting focused on cutting
up the log and shutting out the outside
world. It's It's like therapy time. I I
really enjoy it. Two 6x6 by 8 and some
change. Check the box. I moved my saw
horses for the offcut slabs over to this
side because I think we're going to move
the fire pit over to here just closer to
the main door that we use here in the
shop, which is this door. Um, but they
were right here, those off cuts, and I
just chopped them into a million pieces
and just let them fall right here. That
was a huge mess. As I was cutting on the
sawmill today, Jamie kind of piled these
up so that way I can at least just pick
this whole thing up and take it over to
the fire pit. Uh, so that's really cool.
these off cuts for um night nightly
fires in our Brio fire pit is just has
just been just been a lot of fun. Really
really
enjoyable. Uh I still have a whole pile
of junk over there. Pile of burnables
right there that I'm not even going to
worry about stacking or whatever. We're
just going to go through them and burn
them. And then once that pile is gone,
we'll move the fire pit over to the
other side. Uh this these two logs
yielded a lot of extra one by material.
Unfortunately, I'm out of stickers. Um,
I changed my dimensions slightly, so
these are all a different size. I could
use those, but I think what would be
best is to put all these onebys back up
on the mill. Not today. Probably
tomorrow or the next day. Put them back
on the mill and cut them all into
stickers. uh because well I've got a
bunch of one by material on hand
already.
So there's no immediate need to go ahead
and stack this. So you know what? One of
the cuts is already made on all these
boards. Let's just turn them into
stickers. I think that is a very
appropriate plan. Another very
appropriate plan is to figure out what
the plan is for supper. It's 4:00 in the
afternoon and we've been eating too late
far too often. So
checking out.
