A Croydon woman says she is grateful to be alive after a terrifying road rage incident on Monday in Bucks County that ended with gunfire and a suspect in custody.
Cristopher Corbi, 41, was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and multiple other offenses.
Kathryn Runner said she was driving on the Newtown Bypass around 6:40 p.m. when she and other drivers began passing a slow-moving vehicle. That's when she noticed something alarming.
"As I turned around, I just saw something shiny in the corner of my eye, so I looked over and I saw the barrel of the gun, and then my window popped and I saw the hole," Runner said.
We are hearing exclusively tonight from
the woman shot in what police are
calling a terrifying act of road rage.
This is the man now in custody after
investigators in Box County say he fired
at a woman's car last night as they both
drove on the New Town bypass as she
called 911. Police say he got out of his
car, confronted her, and shot her in the
hand. Actually Walder Perez live in
Middletown Township. Walder, you spoke
to that victim today. How's she doing
tonight?
Well, Brian Rory, h we are happy to
report that amazingly she only suffered
or needed a few stitches on her left
wrist. But what came to a conclusion
right here last night could have easily
ended with the victim losing her life.
Katherine Runner of Cudden says she is
thankful to be alive after a terrifying
road rage incident allegedly involving
41-year-old Christopher Corby of
Warrington. Last night, Katherine says
she was driving on the New Town bypass
when some vehicles in front of her
started passing another car that was
moving well below the speed limit.
>> As I went around, I just saw something
shiny in the corner of my eyes. So, I
look over and I saw the barrel of the
gun and then my window popped and then I
saw the hole.
>> She then called 911 and started
following that car to get a better look
at the license plate number. But the
situation took an even darker turn as
the suspect veered onto this road in
Middletown Township.
>> He looked like he was going to go right
and then he slammed on his brakes and
got the car and then shot at me two more
times.
>> This all unfolded as Catherine was still
on the phone.
>> I definitely was screaming at the 911
operator um that he's shooting at me and
then like when I had my hand up, that's
when I felt I felt I thought it was
actually hit here because I felt my two
fingers like just go like numb. This
photo was taken a short time later,
showing the bullet holes left in
Catherine's windshield. After opening
fire, the suspect sped away, but police
were quickly able to find him. Once they
got the information and broadcasted to
our regional response teams, our units
located that vehicle at Route 532 in
Stoville Road and took him into custody.
Katherine, of course, is very relieved
that the suspect was arrested, but she
still wonders why her.
>> I didn't do nothing. I had no road rage.
I didn't like honking them. I didn't,
you know, flipped a bird. I didn't do
anything to him. So, I'm just like and
there and what gets me is a lot of cars
passed him. What made him choose me?
>> Now, tonight, the suspect faces a slew
of charges, including attempted murder.
He remains behind bars at this hour on
10% of a million dollars bail. Reporting
live from Middletown Township, Bucks
County, Walter Perez, Channel 6 Action
News. Brian,
>> yeah, it's the random nature of this
that makes it so scary. Walter, thank
you.
