Why all philosphers suffer struggles? Is it that they did something wrong? Or perhaps they are so right that people could not stand the truth?
Jealousy is always involved because, of course,
Socrates, he didn't take any money.
He lectured free to students to come,
while the others, they paid money.
And of course, he was a lot, he was accepted
and he was loved by his students because he
teach them the real things, not just because the others,
they paid money just to be good citizens,
to be good rhetors, to be good politicians.
They had this more technical thing on things.
But Socrates, he wanted the meaning of life.
He wanted to practice to be good human beings.
That's a totally different story.
So, of course, he was hateful.
But it was not, to me, I realized in my calculation,
it was not like Socrates' irony with the others.
Because in Plato's, we will do as well.
In the future, of course, I have something else,
some other stories for Socrates because they are very beautiful.
But later, we will do the apology of Socrates.
Plato states that Socrates, he didn't believe
because he was a modest man.
When some guy went to the Oracle of Delphi
and asked who is the wisest man in Greece,
the Oracle said, of course, Socrates, he's the best.
He's the man of most wisdom.
But Socrates, because he was a modest guy,
he was a modest person, he totally respected God.
He said, I'm not wise.
Why did the God Apollo say that I am wise?
I'm not.
I'm not wise at all.
I know nothing.
He truly believed that.
I think that is a misconception.
The others say that he pretended he didn't know he was wise.
But because he truly believed he was not wise,
that is what he said to his apology in the court.
He said, I didn't feel that I was wise.
And I asked people of the time, who do you think is the wisest?
And he said, this, this, this.
And he go and talk with them.
And he realized that they were full of arrogance.
And he said, OK, of course, I am wisest because I know nothing.
And these guys are full of themselves.
They think they know everything.
I don't know everything.
I know nothing.
Gods know everything.
So they were furious then because he proved to them
that they are unworthy of being wise.
But he didn't mean it on purpose.
He wanted to check why God appointed him the wisest.
And after, of course, I am the wisest.
If I am compared to them, yes.
So it is a misconception because in my path of cultivation
as well, I have seen that you don't know a lot of things.
You try to understand, to enlighten.
It is a process.
It is not like you know everything
and you are balanced and full of yourself.
It is like this.
And in all cultivation ways, you
will come with arrogance and full of yourself.
And these things, that greed, you
need to let go of these things.
It is a process.
But the more modest you are and the more eager
to know the truth, because truth is not
always revealed to you.
Or it is revealed to different levels.
The more enemies you will make, the more you will be attacked.
Socrates came at a time when Athenians were very corrupt.
And he came to save them.
And of course, just like Jesus Christ, they murdered him.
They sentenced him to death to drink the poison.
So this man, just like Jesus, so he
is an enlightened being, he came to save people.
He came to speak to them the truth,
that they don't want to listen.
And maybe that is why it's easier for us,
because we live at the end times and the people are corrupt,
to share the wisdom of Socrates.
Because Socrates, he was not in the church.
He was not in the religious community.
He was outside.
And he respected gods.
And of course, that's why they sentenced him,
because they thought he didn't respect the gods.
And he said, I respect the gods, of course.
The implication for me is that I don't go to church every week,
just like you, but I truly believe in gods.
