Hello friends! Do you believe that God, our loving Father, cares for us no matter what?
Welcome to Christian Living for Children on social media. I am Sister Lourdes of the Daughters of St. Paul.
In the Gospel, Jesus reminds us not to worry because our loving Father surely takes care of all His creation.
Now let us watch the short video.
One day, Jesus was speaking to thousands of people.
Hey Jesus!
When someone asked Him about money, He told them a story and tried to explain to the people that our treasure is not on earth, but in heaven.
Then He turned to one of His disciples and said,
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life, whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear,
for life is more than food and your body more than clothing.
Uh, yes.
Look at the ravens. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns because God feeds them.
And you are far more valuable to God than any birds.
Yeah, I think so.
Do you think that by worrying about anything, you can add a single moment to your life?
And if worry can't do a little thing like that, what's the use of worrying over bigger things?
That's a good point.
Look at all the lilies and how they grow.
They don't work or make their clothing.
Yet Solomon, the great king of Israel, in all his glory, was not dressed as beautifully as they are.
What is Jesus telling us why we should not worry?
We believe that God loves us deeply.
He is our Father who provides for our needs and protects us from all harm.
He is like a mother.
He encourages us when we are down and guides us when things become difficult.
Yes, we are worth more than the birds in the sky and the wild flowers in the field.
Every day, in many different ways, we experience God's love for us.
We believe that God made us because of His great love for us.
He gave us a body so that we may enjoy the wonderful things of His creation.
With our bodies, we can till the land and make it produce an abundant harvest.
With our bodies, we can care for the earth, grow food, and do so many wonderful things.
Through our bodies, we experience His abundant blessings.
God gave us a soul so that we may share in His very own life.
With our minds, we can know Him and understand the words He speaks to us.
With our hearts, we can choose to love Him freely and totally.
Every person is precious because we are created in the image of God.
This is what we call dignity.
It means we are all called to love and respect one another.
Our model saint for today is St. John Paul II,
who taught us the value of every human life and showed great love and respect for all people.
Let us watch this.
Carol's family died when he was young.
He lost his mother before he was 10.
When he was 12, his brother died.
And finally at 21, he lost his father, too.
His homeland was attacked by the Nazis in 1939, and his country was conquered.
Then conquered again by the Soviet Red Army in 1945.
Or maybe it was because of his great culture and humanity.
John Paul II was passionate about life.
He loved sports and the beauty of the outdoors.
Even as cardinal, he continued to ski and kayak.
He loved poetry and was an actor, dreaming of life in theater.
Under the Nazi regime, he worked hard in a quarry and came to know the life of a laborer.
He was also exceptionally bright and thrived as both an academic and charismatic teacher,
whose classrooms overflowed with young students.
John Paul II is being named a saint above all because he placed Christ at the center of his life
and accepted the great mission that Christ offered him every day with love and hope.
He learned to trust that hope was stronger than fear and love stronger than death.
He lived this lesson when an attempt was made on his life.
With hope, he overcame the fear and agony of those days.
And with love, he sought out the man who had shot him to personally forgive him.
JP II wasn't just active, he was deeply apostolic in everything he did.
He knew that the crowds that came weren't there just because of him,
but rather because people really hungered for God.
John Paul II knew that Christ called him to serve,
and so he poured out all of his gifts and talents,
his strength and his health to the very end to show us Christ.
And that is why we celebrate him now as St. John Paul II.
Christ was the center of his life, he was his joy, his strength, and his greatest love.
We pray, Lord God, in the book of the prophet Isaiah,
you say to each of us, I created you, I have called you by name, you are mine.
You are precious to me because I love you.
In response to your love, I offer you my thanksgiving,
promise to talk and listen to you every day in prayer,
and try to love you in every person I meet.
Lord God, please stay ever close to me. Amen.
To educate in the truth and for genuine freedom and evangelical love
is at the very heart of the Church's mission, St. John Paul II.
Thanks for joining us today. See you next time. May the Good Lord bless and keep you.
