Today I'm going to introduce you to some nouns-verb connections for advanced learners,
which are very helpful and useful in everyday life,
and which make your German more varied and more lively.
What did your mother actually say about you wanting to drop out of school?
Well, she just took that into account and didn't say anything about it.
To take something into account is an expression that you hear more often and which is quite practical.
When I take something into account, I receive information and understand the information.
But that doesn't mean that I agree with the information or that I think it's good.
I don't show what I think about it.
In this example, the mother may think,
Oh no, it's bad that my son is dropping out of school.
But she doesn't tell him in this situation.
Another example.
That sounds pretty formal.
The proposal has arrived at the management.
It has been read or heard.
But it is not said whether you like the proposal or whether you will implement it.
Another example sentence.
Here he may have told her that he will not come to her birthday party or something like that.
He dropped out.
And she just registered and perceived this rejection.
She was disappointed, but that didn't show him.
I've been wanting to learn Spanish for so long.
Next year I'll finally take it up.
Taking something into account means that you start to work on a task or implement a plan.
You don't just think about it anymore, but finally do something.
I've been wanting to learn Spanish for so long.
Next year I'll finally take it up.
Or
After the holidays, we want to take the renovation of the bathroom into account.
So we want to renovate the bathroom.
After the holidays, we finally start with it.
When you say that you take something into account, you usually mean something difficult.
It's not about small tasks here, but about larger projects.
Here's another example.
Yes, so far we haven't had time to look for an apartment, but we want to take it up soon.
So we want to start actively looking for a new apartment soon.
Should we go on vacation together next year?
Hmm, good idea. Let's keep that in the back of our minds.
If you keep something in the back of your mind, you'll remember it for later.
You don't forget it.
Here in the example I say, this is a good idea.
We should remember this idea and talk about it again at a later time.
You save a thought in your head and bring it up again later when it becomes important or when you want to think about it again.
Here's another example.
The book was written over 200 years ago.
You have to keep that in mind when you read it.
So you have to save the information that the book is over 200 years old in your head.
If you read the book and some parts of the book are perhaps strange to you, you should think about this information.
The book is 200 years old, so some things may be described as strange or sound strange.
If one of you sends me an idea for a video, I sometimes answer,
thanks for the suggestion, I keep the topic in the back of my mind.
So I say, I remember the topic and when I plan my next videos later,
I think about the topic and think about whether I can make a video about it.
Music plays an important role in my life.
When something plays a role, it is important.
It means a lot to someone.
I say here, music is an important part of my life.
Here's another example.
Where would you like to go on vacation if money didn't play a role?
So if money wasn't relevant or important, where would you like to go?
If it didn't matter how expensive the vacation was, where would you like to go on vacation?
Or
Your husband is 10 years older than you.
That doesn't matter. The main thing is that you are happy.
So age is not important. It is not relevant.

Do you already know where you will study?
No, not yet.
Several universities are coming into question.
When something comes into question, it is a possibility or an option.
There are several universities I could study at.
I have several options and I haven't decided yet.
Or
My wife has a job offer in Munich.
Oh, interesting. Is a move to Munich coming into question for you?
Does this mean
Can you imagine moving to Munich?
Is a move to Munich possible for you?
I think this expression is used a little more often in its negative form.
For example, you say
My boss asked me to work on Christmas.
But that doesn't come into question for me at all.
So
I can't imagine that at all.
That's not possible for me.
I will never do that.
Or
Mom, can I go to Hamburg with my friends on the weekend?
That doesn't come into question at all.
So
No
Impossible
You must not go to Hamburg.
Not at all.
You can come into question either write separately
or you write it together in question.
Both are possible.
The appointment was postponed to next week.
Oh yes?
Is the boss already aware of it?
To be aware of something.
That means to know about something.
To be informed about something.
So I ask here
Is the boss already informed that the appointment was postponed?
Does the boss already know that?
This expression sounds a bit exaggerated.
But you also hear it from time to time in everyday life.
Here's another example.
My doctor is always aware of the latest results in medical research.
So my doctor is always informed and knows the latest research results.
Or
He is always best informed about what is happening in his hometown.
That means
He always knows exactly.
He is always informed about the news in his hometown.
Maybe you are wondering about the word bilde.
After im stands the dative.
And the dative of the picture is actually bild.
But that was not always the case.
In the past, the dative of bild was bilde.
There was still an e in the dative.
This dative e can still be seen in some old expressions and sayings today.
In the song, the artist expresses his sadness about the loss of a friend.
When you express something, you show or express something
so that other people can understand or perceive it.
You make your thoughts, feelings or opinions clear.
In his song, he shows the audience how sad he is that his friend is no longer there.
Another example.
Many people expressed their anger at the demonstration.
The people showed at the demonstration that they were angry.
Or
With this gift, she wanted to express her love.
That means
She wanted to show with the gift that she loves the person who gave her the gift.
She did not say it directly, but the gift expresses this feeling.
Or
Through her silence, she expressed her rejection of the proposal.
That means
She did not say anything, but you could still see that she rejected the proposal.
Her silence showed that she rejected the proposal.
