Hi, I'm Brad. I'm John. Okay, so we're gonna do another song that was, what, the third
song in a row now? Where, you know, I look at the title of the song. I'd Love You To
Want Me. Okay, sounds kind of familiar, but I don't think I know it. By Lobo. Who? Don't
know them. That's what Manny Gaviola was covering. And yeah, until I hear it, it's kind of like,
oh, that song. Yeah, well, it's kind of the same as, I don't think it's the song I'm thinking
about. It's not the song that you're thinking about. You'll know it as soon as you hear it.
Yeah, which, that's not what it is. Yeah, that's what popped in my head right away.
Yeah, that's what popped in my head as well. I thought, I can't think of any other song other
than that. So, I'd Love You To Want Me is a song by the American singer-songwriter Lobo. It's like,
okay, never heard of it. Whatever. Released in September of 1972. It's the second single from
his second album. Wow, too many seconds. Called On A Simple Man. It was actually his highest
charting hit on the Billboard Hot 100, where it spent two weeks at number two. So, it wasn't
number one, but close enough. Most people don't even get that high, so, you know, let's be honest.
I have not even made it to the 100 yet, so. Really?
Yeah, imagine that. I'm going to have to write one first, though.
I did find it amusing that when it was released in the UK back in 1972,
the song actually fell to charting.
So, there you go.
But it was re-released two years later in 1974 on a UK record label, and it peaked at number five.
Oh, yeah, see. Released in 72 in the US, and it did good there, and you guys said, yeah.
You slap a different label on it, you know, just like your clothes.
Yeah.
Slap that designer label on it, and everyone wants it.
It could also have been a simple case of, well, you know, the British record label actually
promoted it to radio stations and stuff, and the American label, which was probably UMG,
because everything is these days, didn't. Oh, but if it was UMG, then-
I love UMG back then, though.
Well, it wouldn't have been UMG back then, but if it was UMG, then they wouldn't have let another
label actually release it anyway. So, it obviously couldn't have been UMG.
So, you got all that out?
Yes.
Are we ready to go?
Yes.
All right, before we get going, make sure you hit that like and subscribe.

When I saw you standing there
The pot fell off my chair
And you moved your mouth to speak
Had the blood cut to my feet
Now it's the time for me to know
What you tried so not to show
Something in my soul, just cry
See the world in your blue eyes
Baby, I'd love you to want me
The way that I want you
The way that it should be
Baby, you'd love me to want you
The way that I want to
If you'd only let it be
You taught yourself you're so cold
You'd never let your feelings show
Figured out what song it is?
No, it kind of sounds familiar, but
Oh, I actually do know it
Well, it sounds familiar, but I just can't like
Click it completely. I might have to look the original up later
Yeah, definitely like the
Yeah, they'd be like, oh, and of course the group would be like, oh
It's terrible when you can't even remember who the original group is
I mean, the 70s were a couple years ago
Yeah, almost like 30 years ago
You were like, small
Like three
I was like, not
You taught yourself you're so cold
You'd never let your feelings show
The obligation that you made
For the title that they gave
Baby, I'd love you to want me
The way that I want to
The way that it should be
Baby, you'd love me to want you
The way that I want to
If you'd only let it be
For me to know
What you're trying so not to show
Something in my soul just won't
See the one in your blue eyes
Baby, I'd love you to want me
To that part sounds familiar
Chorus
Future chorus
Yeah, that's it's the main part to recognize but yeah
The more I hear of it, the more I'm kind of like, yep, yep, that's the song
Man, our eyes are really sparkling today
The right thing to say
It just seems so vivid
It's used, there's no more tears, I drop things
I sparkle
Actually, I think they do, weirdly enough
I say that sarcastically, but I think they do that
Because they're doing close-ups of it
Well, that too, but
See the one in your blue eyes
Love you to want me
To that part sounds familiar
Chorus
The way that I want to
If you'd only let it be
For me to know
What you're trying so not to show
Baby, I'd love you to want me
To that part sounds familiar
Chorus
Future chorus
She's always amazing when she does
Yeah
I will admit the song does suffer from
1970s, well 1970s, 1980s as well
And it's kind of like, oh, we need to have songs that are over three minutes long now
You're going to make them a bit longer
It's kind of like, oh, but I wrote it to be like two and a half minutes
How am I going to make it longer?
Well, sing the chorus about three times at the end
And then we'll throw in a bit of a guitar solo
I bet it was worth it
That was a
At least her part
That was a critique on the song
Not the person singing
That's what I mean, it was nice for her to be able to sing it
The original, I know, could have been like, yeah, you could have stopped already
There's a lot of songs from that time period that are like that
She could have probably thrown in another one there at the end
Oh, that's true
Yeah
We didn't need a guitar solo
That's just, she's always amazing when she does
And yeah, like I said, her eyes are like really sparkling out today
So definitely keeping you glued to the screens
Well, obviously we're going to continue hitting her up
So if you want to see those, make sure you hit that like and subscribe
