Welcome to part two in my Christmas decorating series where we are decorating my entire house
for Christmas time making it look exquisite but on a budget and today we are actually tackling
the living room, the tree, and the mantle. I am really excited about this but I am also torn on
what color scheme to go with because I thought if you watched part one which was last week's
video that I was going to stick with all the red and now I'm questioning that because I really
liked look number two that I shared with you in last week's video because I did two different
styles and so maybe today we'll try out two different styles because I cannot make up my
mind and that is okay so you might be in that same predicament and I'm here to help you out
so hopefully you'll get lots of ideas from today's video of course I'll have everything linked down
below for you as well as on my LTK and so for attaching my garland this year to my fireplace
surround I'm actually going to be using some command hooks that actually have a loop on them
that way I can put more on to it. In the years past I've always used nails but I have stone now
and so I cannot use a nail on that nor do I suggest that. I've actually tried using suction
cups on it and it has worked fairly well but not with weight. Suction cups work really well with
mirrors and windows but not per se on a stone surround so keep that in mind. I am still going
to use them for some lighter materials. For this fireplace I'm going to be using two different
garlands just because the one that I want to use is the main. It only comes in six foot and I only
have one of them. Good job Inley. But that's okay so I think I could get away with a nine foot to
how I'm going to drape this across but for now we're going to do it this way because that's what
I got. And instead of hooking it here I'm actually going to drape this part down and loop this
somewhere else that way it's hidden since it does not match the same coloring. Different ways you can do
this. You can go straight across with it. You can have a loop kind of like that where you're creating
a droop on both ends. I've done all of them and I'm thinking this year I'm going to do an
asymmetrical look and so I'm going to find the spot. Now I cannot have this hang down too far
because this blows out heat and that will melt my garland let me tell you because I have a wood
burning fireplace so um there's definitely something you got to think about depending on
what type of fireplace you have. If you have a gas fireplace you turn on just for ambience you'll be
fine but still think about how where that's landing in your um heat zone okay. Now for the corner here
because I'm blending two different garlands and I want there to be a little bit more fluff here
because this is where it's kind of crowning and coming down. I'm going to add some stems there
and I'm going to use the loop that's on this to secure it in okay. Always stand back and look at
your design so that you can see if it needs more or less. So I think this looks really pretty just
on its own. You could add some twinkle lights to it if you wanted to. You can dress it up with just a few
picks. I'm going to do a variation of ornament balls in different sizes and also ornament picks
to just give it some life and everything but I am so torn. I was really thinking I was going
to stick with the red but now I'm like maybe I should do the coppers and the golds and stuff.
I just I'm kind of liking that but I bought more red picks than I did um copper or gold ones.
So I have gold picks but I don't have any gold ones like this. These came from Hobby Lobby. Walmart
does have kind of a medium size between these two as well so you can gander at those um but yeah I'm
kind of torn on what I want to do. I'm sitting here looking at the copper and gold across for
me and I'm like oh that's so pretty and I'm like no but the red's pretty. Which one do I do? So I
kind of want to try something different and by no means am I telling you you have to switch
up every year. If you like the certain look that you do for your Christmas decorating
do it year after year. I'm going to add some ornament balls and this is basically just wire
and I put on the these are actually I could say extra large but these are a I think a six inch
ball and then you have the smaller and then you have the extra small. So yeah I'm going to add
these on here. So the ornament hangers I'm looping that across this kind of swiveling it so it's really
tight and then I'm taking that and just readjusting it so it's longer and then I will hook this on to
put in some ornament picks and just put them in various spots to dress it up a little bit.
Now to add a little bit more shimmer to it I'm going to take these crystal picks. Walmart or Hobby Lobby.
So now we are going to decorate the tree. This tree is from Walmart. It has like 2,200 lights
on it. It has twinkle. It has color. It's got all the different variations which is really nice. I'm
going to leave the tree off though while I decorate it because um sometimes the camera it can be
distracting and just annoying. So we're going to start with this. Now we're going to dig into our
ornaments. These are usually the large ones but these are extra large and then I have the normal
like four and a half or four inch the three and a half and then the little two inch so
step back and look at it so you can really see if the design looks the way you want to.
The tree is looking pretty good but I think we could prop it up a little bit.
I'm thinking adding some pine cones for a little bit more of a woodsy
look. Like not woodsy but just a little bit more. Make sure you if you're getting collecting real
pine cones you blow them out. You can also bake them too. That makes sure everything is dead in them.
I was trying to find some red stems at Hobby Lobby and none of them like really just were the
ones I was looking for. So I decided to go the regular aisle and I found these in a bushel and
they were seven dollars and I think they look really good on the tree. So I plucked them off
but you can just take the stem off if you wanted to. I feel like I heard something fall. What fell?
But if we add that in it could be really pretty.
I almost like these better than the poinsettias. This is this is good.
Next up I'm gonna use these from Walmart.
Okay I may have winged the tree a little bit but I think it turned out really good. I did
need to collect some more pine cones from outside but I gotta bake those so I don't have time for
that at the moment. But I think it turned out pretty good. Yeah I can't find some of the
ornaments I thought I bought but that's okay. I'm just gonna keep looking through my stuff
because there's crap everywhere. Do we like it? Do we like it? I turned the living room lights on.
I didn't realize how dark it was in here but it looks so good in person. It looks good.
I really like these flowers on it too. I need to grab more of those. I don't have, I only have
four of these pine cone ones. I definitely need to get more of those though. You can see they're
kind of like in a zigzag. The big ones are sort of in a zigzag. Same with this. I ran out of
poinsettias because I'm using them on other spots but... And then to jazz it up a little bit I found
these gigantic jingle bells at Hobby Lobby. I thought they were so awesome and I have another
spot for them but I wanted to showcase them because if you see them, grab them. They are
such a good price. They're 50% off and they come in red and also white but you can totally spray
paint them a different color. For the side table and coffee table I wanted to do something really
simple but have a lot of depth to it so I'm using these smaller cedar stems. I've shared these
before but again everything will be linked in the description box for you. They're really nice
and dainty and then I'm taking these beautiful burgundy peonies. I actually found these in the
fall section at Hobby Lobby and I'm using those in here with some berries and I think it's the perfect
winter look for Christmas if you're using red. And now I'm going to do something similar here
on the coffee table, dressing it up and making it a little cozier and festive for the holiday season.
Now of course I could just leave the floral arrangement on its own but I wanted to dress
it up a little bit. Add in some gold bells because what is Christmas without some bells?
But also adding in like this faux fur rug here on this. This comes in lots of different sizes but
again it just adds a little bit of luxury to the look and I think it makes it look a little bit
cozier and I really like it. I think it makes it look so much more festive for the season and then
I'm just mixing some humming cone trees and some reindeer. Again you can play around with the
colors on this but I love the way this is all looking together. And now I want to change out
the pillows and a couple of the blankets. I love faux fur for Christmas time as well as velvets.
Those are the best materials I think that you can use to decorate your sofas and your chairs because
it just gives it a cozy feel but it's also super soft to touch and you want to cozy up and get
comfortable on the couch. So think about that. All of these are covers so I'll have them all linked
down below but this one is new to me and I love the burgundy wine color it has. It is absolutely
gorgeous and I really like adding in a blanket on an accent chair because we like to sit and cozy up
in them and so using one that again is like that really soft teddy bear type of material is really
nice and I wanted to pair it again with this pillow cover. I got a couple of these and I just
I'm obsessed with the color of it. It's so good. They're soft and beautiful quality.
So again everything will be linked down below for you because these are just good enough.
Now I did end up removing some of the cluster of ornaments that I added to the tree just because
it felt very cumbersome and I wanted to be a little bit lighter. I like to see the tree
but you don't have to. You can totally leave it with a lot more ornaments and fill it out
completely but I'm really liking the way the red comes together here in the house.
What do you guys think? I definitely need to adjust the living room shelves though. Those
need some tweaking. I'm just not loving the way the red looks on the shelves for some reason.
I liked the green golds and creams better so this just makes me feel like I want to switch up the
coloring but you guys let me know what are your thoughts. I really love the way the
mantle garland came together. It's very different but also just has a beautiful shimmer to it.
Well I think that's a wrap on today's Christmas Decorate With Me. What do you think of all of
the burgundy red here in the home? It is definitely different than what I have done in the past and I
like the challenge but I'm also a little bit torn if I should try out the other coloring that I did
in the first part of this decorating series. Let me know in the comments if you think I should keep
it or change it up. I'm really excited to try something different and so you'll have to let me
know but everything you see in today's video will be linked in the description box below as well as
