Hey guys, first fan of the night. First fan of the night.
So this is another SMC. This is a 36 inch Laguna. Actually let me see if there's a model number on
it because I don't think I've ever looked close at one of these early ones. I guess I'll use the
latter. This is KB36 and I've always wanted a small one of these. I don't know if they made
a small one with lower canopy. That's what they really want. That's what I really want. But I can
always just get a lower canopy 3d printed. By the way, when I talk about the beehive upper canopy
on my childhood polished brass SMC, this is the shape of canopy. Only difference being this is for
a half inch downrod and the A52 would have a three quarter inch downrod, but that's the shape.
So this came from his metalness. Like I said, I've always wanted one of these,
but it's been kind of low priority. I've had some later versions, but I've never had a 36 inch bell
canopy. Again, I want to try to find whatever the earliest version is, which would definitely have
a two piece upper, but I don't know if it would have a lower. But this was close enough and I
haven't had one of these before. Didn't come with the downrod. That is a Newton downrod.
That is an Emerson globe. And yeah, I think that's all there is to say about it. Let's
take it through the paces. Oh yeah, I was going to test the brass one next
and I can't find the blade bracket. So the blade brackets for the brass one must be with the canopy
for the antique brass one, but where did they end up? It's not like there's that many places for
them to be here. So I'm going to keep looking for them and as I keep working on stuff, hopefully
they'll present themselves. Otherwise, I know, like I said, Nia's already helped me look.
Metal Pete's already helped me look. But Rick and Stuart both have really keen eyes,
so maybe next time they're here, if I haven't found them by then, they'll help me find them.
It's got to be here somewhere because if I would have given it away, somebody would have noticed
a whole set of blade arms in addition to a canopy. Okay, so let's put this through its paces.
Let's turn the light off. I actually just have the variable speed all the way down.
I have to turn it quite far to get it to come on. Let me just look at that again. Oh yeah,
that's more than half a turn. Well, now it's coming out of the quarter turn, so
I guess it needed a jump start. I'm so confused about where these parts could be.
Well, it's all just packing material. I have a theory. I know they're not going to be here,
but I'm going to check anyways. Nope, just the moss canopy and the moss brackets and the moss
box. People have been asking me to test this latex and I will. I just want to get through
all the non-Newenbox fans first before we start testing Newenbox fans. Newenbox fans are easier
to store and harder to test. We'll let that get up to speed. Pretty high power factor.
It seems like it's flying. No way is that 776. That is definitely faster than 200.
Okay, we're going to try the white tape method.
Okay, I guess we'll do zero to high right now. I'm going to guess,
hmm, this one really could be any of them. I'm going to go with,
see if it's going to be big or no. I'll go with big. I think it's actually small, but we'll see.
One more and I win. Alexa, garage back fan low. Ah, big inrush. I won. Still getting up to speed.
Alexa, 1170 divided by four.
1170 divided by four is 292.5. I mean, that actually seems like it might be close. It's
close to 300. Now that's giving me a very clean 434. I think that's more accurate. I think it's
400 something. That seems way faster than 300. I think it's really fast. Alexa, what's 591 times
Sorry, I didn't get that. 591 times what? 591 times 7.07.
No, no, no, no, that's not what I wanted. Alexa, what's 591 times 7.07?
591 times 7.07 is 4178.37. Seems good. It's quite powerful for a small fan. It's a reverse
pull chain, so we'll pull it once and pull it reverse. Actually, this might be the answer to
another question over here while I'm looking at it. Are these my, nope, those are warm glows.
I don't need warm glows, I need crees. I have the crees over here.
It's a Cree, but it's a, I need a Cree globe. These are all Cree,
what you call it. I might just get one from Amazon. I'm not seeing it. I'll get one from Amazon.
I'll leave that on even though that didn't seem to help. There was a barber shop near my high
school that had, I think, this exact fan. It might have been a slightly earlier version with a plastic
switch housing and plastic upper canopy mounted on a drop ceiling. The upper canopy was missing,
so it was just mounted right here on the drop ceiling. By the way, it's dead silent on a solid
state. It would be significantly less in reverse. Crazy. You just never know what you're going to
get with SMC, do you? That is a lot less. Alexa, 903 divided by 4.
903 divided by 4 is 225.75. That seems right. Crazy.
It's a cute little thing. Okay, it's a little stiff. These usually start pretty high.
I'm going to go with 4. 1, 2, 3, 4. Nailed it. I'm 2 for 2 so far today.
I think it would have started at 2 or 3 if it wasn't a little stiff.
I didn't realize it was stiff until I watched that spin down. It's not a bad low though.
6, 7, 8. The thing about 8 is if you very carefully listen off in the distance, you might just hear...
We're not over though. That's the crazy thing. Are we? I thought it was... We are over.
I thought it was... Man, I need some sleep. I thought it was like 0.63 on high. Hold up.
So where did it go over? 13 went over. Okay, I'm doing 0 to high again because
I am confusion. I thought it went from like... I guess I did stop looking once I won the Big
Rush Award. Let's get the tape off of there. It's interesting that these use the same finish,
but whatever factory these blades were made in is the same factory that Leslie Lock blades
were made in. You got to remember the Hong Kong factories didn't make wood.
So yeah, SMC and Evergo used the same wood shop. 0.7. Not much I remember.
0.68. See, that's what I remember. Oh, after I turned away, it dropped rapidly.
My no-end rush would have been way off. Well, that's a lesson, kids. Don't ever turn away
when you're watching the inrush test. Make sure you keep paying attention.
Otherwise... Man, that thing's powerful. It feels like a 52-inch fan over here. Part of it's on a
long downrod. That does help. That was just the first downrod I found that fit it, that was the
right color. I had a couple other ones that were too short. Plus, I thought it would look cool on
a long downrod. You don't see that that often. Okay. Well, RIC test, I'm going to guess that...
Well, actually, we can do a genuine RIC test, can't we? Alexa, garage off. Almost dropped a
decade box. Alexa, garage bullet lights 50%. I'm going to guess that that's avocado appliance.
For me, that is low-end of Menards, but if it had a lower canopy, it would be high-end of Menards.
That lower canopy makes a big difference to me. The Metal Pete, I don't know because he got rid
of it. So, I'm going to guess it's probably low-end of Cannibal Corpse because he bought it in the
first place. But then he got rid of it, so it's not high-end. So, interesting. Well, that's it
for this video. I'm going to try to test a few more fans tonight. It's really throwing a monkey
wrench into my plans that I can't find these SMC parts. But luckily, I have several other fans
to test both from his metalness as well as ones that came in recently. So, I'm just going to go
through testing fans and then hopefully those parts turn up. But if they don't, I'll scratch
my head in confusion. So, okay. Well, stay tuned for a word from our sponsor, of course, by Pedro's
