G'day, mates, welcome back to another adventure Fishing with Currie…. I'm as sorry as a kookaburra in a cyclone that it's been ages, but to make up for it, I've got two cracking giveaways in this episode, so sit back, grab a cold one, and tune in. On this adventure, we had a crack at catching some mud crabs, but those pesky poachers ruined the party. We didn't quite get the results we were hoping for, but we still managed to snag some sweet crab sangas. Also in this episode, I got to take my brand-spanking-new rod from Last Cast Customs for a spin on some absolute crackers, including a monster mangrove jack. Thanks again to legends that help all these adventures come to you guys @MikeCarneyToyota @UltimateProCrabPots-mp3ft @KrabKing @4wdcentral @ironandbarkadventures @fishingwithCurrie
Well, howdy howdy and welcome back to
another episode of Fishing with Curry.
We are fishing with the Curries today
and we are currently floating down the
creek of one of the biggest tides that I
have been in in a while. And we are
going to soak seven of the Ultimate Pro
crab pots. I don't know why I grabbed
seven. I just grabbed seven. But that's
the number we're running with today. And
we got a little giveaway today that I
will show you a bit later on. There'll
be a code word somewhere during this
video. So stay tuned for that one. But
I'm sorry it's been so long since
episodes. There's a few things going on
in the Curry family. A new vehicle is
coming hopefully next week. Um but that
will be an awesome little addition.
It'll allow us to do some four-wheel
driving trips with the family and some
more camping trips. But let's not talk
no more. Let's go get these pots soaking
and see if we can trick a few mud crabs.
Let's get it. Do it.
What are we going with, babe?
>> We got a bit of finger mark in there.
And that'll do for him, I think. Bit of
finger mark.
We got some old crab shells we're going
to chuck in as well. But this will do
for pot number one. I've got seven pots,
so I don't want to run out of bait.
Gum tree.
>> Let me put the back out for you.
>> Yeah. You get
>> here. You drive, darling. I'll throw it.
>> You sure?
>> Yeah.
In the middle a little bit.
>> Yeah.
>> I did a mischief, didn't I? I got us a
little bit.
>> That's okay.
Little sweaty.
Driving skills of the boat are not my
thing.
>> All right. All right. Jump up there. Get
ready to play to them. We obviously with
these tides
we are um tying them up cuz we ain't
losing these beautiful pots.
Bombs away. Pot one in.
Of course, we have the nice sinking rope
from Crabber.
And these are some of the setup ropes
that have the shark clip and everything
from that from Quick Crabber. Awesome
bit of kit. Rate them highly. But um we
got a variety of baits. We got some
mangro jacks, some salmon, some more
finger mark in there. Like I said, some
old crab shells. So, we will get them
going. But have a go at this. I'm just
putting along now. She's setting them
up. Didn't even have to ask. That is a
woman. That is a woman. All right, we'll
get a few of these set up and then I'll
boost it to me next spot. Let's get it,
dude.
>> Neutral.
Make sure your branches are sturdy
enough, boys. And it's just a couple of
loops. That's all you need to do. Now,
motor. Yep. That way reverse. No, other
way. Full lock and reverse.
>> Beautiful.
>> Okay. Can you
>> Yep.
>> Squat with me?
>> Yep.
>> And just loop around, you reckon?
>> Okay, I got him. You're good.
>> And again around
over it. No. Yeah, perfect.
I'll reverse this back out and chrome
over to your left.
Perfect.
There's a big gutter over there. Um,
that should get us a crab or two. So,
I'm going to sneak up here because this
goes to a nice little gutter section. Do
you want to start setting that one up,
darling, with the iron and bark crab pot
spreader? Now, boys, quick tip, quick
pro tip. Get yourselves
one of these. And look, you sit back.
I'm going to crack myself a nice coldy
very, very soon. And they set the pots
up. How bloody good. One of these iron
bark crab pots. Better sets the pots up.
I know she doesn't like touching the
bait, so I'll do that.
>> But, um, I'll bait him up. We'll get him
in the water and we'll sort him out. Oh,
look at that fella. Nice big mangrove
Jackie boy to go in him. I'll show you
that bit of footage in a minute.
Flicking my brand new rod from Last Cast
Customs. That is actually who is down
here um from down south having a bit of
a crabing mission with their young
fellas. His wife's come up with him and
stuff. So, thought I'd give him a bit of
a pointer, a bit of a help out. And um
he's down here. Hopefully I run into
them in the water and I can give them
some fishing spot. But don't worry,
Darwin. It's okay. We're just in a
little penny. Not worried.
I'm just going to hook this here.
Tie it up to this tree.
You got a whole bit of rope.
All right,
>> I'll tuck him out.
>> Okay,
you chuck him out.
Easier for me to do that than
>> We're up in the backwood here, boys.
Just drop him straight in the middle.
>> Beautiful.
Let's
go backwards before you can go forward.
Okay.
>> Yes. Sometimes you must take a step back
you boost forward
and let's go.
>> Okay, let's go.
2 34 back there. We got three points
left. Let's find some spots, baby.
And
it is the law that you must have either
a float or a tag on the end of your
rope. So this one I knew we were tying
them all up, so I didn't bother putting
a float on. I've just got a tag on it
with me name on it, which is all you got
to have your name on something above the
high tide line. So that is all you need
to do. And that is all we have done.
That tide's rushing in fast.
>> Yes.
Yes, it is. It would be moving at
probably two to three knots this water,
but that is okay.
We are in no rush. Mr. Mangrove Jack can
go in this one.
All right, boys. So, we are back in the
backwoods again here. This is the
original secret spot that everyone found
out about, but it hasn't been crabed in
a while cuz there's been a tree in the
way, but Curry's managed to push past
that to get up here. And um we got a pot
in me spot. Hey, well done, B. All
right, we got one pot left and one fish
and one bait left. So, let us get out of
here with a good bit of maneuvering.
We will swing back after this tree.
And this is why a little nice dingy like
this tiller steer. Watch how easy it is
just to turn around on the spot. Reverse
in there.
Swing it back the other way. And boom.
We're on the move again. Hey,
>> are we though?
>> We are. Let it get it.
>> And this is why people can't really get
up here.
So hopefully that deters them enough for
our overnight soak tonight.
And
I'm going to try and get down here at
about the same tide tomorrow because 10
minutes either way of this tide right
here would be a lot harder to get
through. So we've nailed it today. Let's
see if it works and if there's heaps of
crabs been breeding and doing their
thing up there. One last part. Let's get
it.
>> Okay, let's go.
Welcome back to Deadly Estrash here on
the Discovery Channel. We're just going
through the East Toro Sea here. Let's go
get some big snow crab, boys.
We'll put one out on the flats and we'll
see how we go. Let's get it. All right,
we just pulled up in this torrential
weather. We're in the middle of the East
Team Moore Sea here. We got the missile
setting it up. Oh, here it comes. It
didn't take long. The tool in need is a
tool indeed. Work smarter, not harder.
Get yourself a iron and bark crab. Pot
spreader. I can't have myself an iron
and bark crab measure cuz I just keep
throwing them overboard for some reason.
There he is.
He is. Oh, he's about a mill under that
fella.
>> Measure gone. He's lost all his legs.
>> Oh, he's just
>> Are you serious?
>> Oh my [ __ ] god. I done it again.
[ __ ] legitimately did not mean that.
for some reason. I don't know what it
is. Just keeps happening. So, I don't
know. I'm sort of giving up. But, um,
we'll get through this hectic weather
and we will get this pot in the water.
I'm I'm just being a little exaggerated.
The wife doesn't like um rough weather.
>> So, these are the flats between
alligator and crocky. I'm going to chuck
it right on where it comes up.
So, you will see that in a minute.
There'll be another 20 m in front of me,
which is going to give her enough time
to finish setting this pot up and me
bait it.
>> Bit wobbly, babe.
>> It's a bit wobbly. You did good. You did
well. Are you going to chuck that last
fish in for me? Oh, she's even going to
bait it. The man is on today. I don't
know what I did right, but I did
something.
Did something.
Whatever's left in there, boss. Put him
in there. Oh, look. We're coming up on
it now. So, I'm going to turn.
And I know it's big tires, but doing it
just that little bit shallower stops it
from floating away.
And
that will give us the edge.
Whenever you're ready, just out to your
left there, babe.
Uh, top's not done up. Top's not done
up. Top's not done up. Top's not done
up.
Beautiful.
Oh, look at that. We are crabbing. Seven
pots in the water. Well done, boss. All
by yourself. All right, we're going to
boost it. Go and see if I can run into
me, mate. And um we'll say goodday and
then I'm going to high order at home cuz
I've actually got to head to air to pick
up me new boat mate. But um you'll see
that in coming episodes. I don't know if
I want to bring him out tomorrow cuz
it's just going to be his first night at
home. So we'll see how we go. We'll see
how we go. You will see him coming. I'll
show you him anyway. Even if we just if
he's just at home, I'll give you a look
at him. But um let's get it, dudes. You
ready, boss? Oh, washing the hands. Got
to give the hand.
>> Touch the bait.
All right, let's get it.
Can we beat it?
Can we beat it to race against wrecking
the straight hair? Don't wreck the
straight hair. And my mullet. Oh, it'll
wet the mullet.
We got to beat it. Let's get it. Flat
biggie. Oh,
smart ass. I told her her shout think
she's funny.
Cheers.
Mother's milk.
Oh, what did you say?
It said have some more.
Cheers, boss.
All righty. Just like that, we are back
at the ramp. Seven pots soaking. How
good is this? I drop her off at this
little fonto. She reverses the trailer
down and I drive him on. How bloody
good. It's one of the most attractive
things about my wife. for mid anyway.
But tell you what, make you a bit moist
in the groin. All right,
I'll see you tomorrow when we're
checking the pots. Hopefully the kiddos
want to come with me. We'll convince
them with an ice cream or something.
Let's get She will back the trailers for
beers. Seriously,
all you BS can't back the trailer. She
said she'll do it for beers.
I can be a sometimes. Sorry, dude.
>> Keep coming, boss. Keep coming.
Oh, I got to concentrate for a second,
boys.
Yeah.
All right, that should hold me there.
Turn him off.
We are sitting on the easy loads. That
is why they are called easy loads. We
lift our motor up. We turn the electrics
off. We walk up to the front of the
boat.
We don't even get a foot wet yet. Still
don't get a foot wet. No wet feet. Boat
will stay there.
Confidence.
We pulled this fell out and snapped on
me the other day.
Sorry about the recording skills.
Oh, we got a wet toe. This is not on,
boys. We hook him on like so. We walk
back along the trailer with our dry one
wet toe.
Stand on the draw bar.
Yes. Part monkey. Pipe monkey. We'll
hook his on the ear
and
we will wind him in.
And it's as simple as that.
Wife stays in the car to drive. I stay
on the trailer to drive
him on. Thank you. See you tomorrow.
Oh, ski it up, boss. Look dry.
Sure you put your safety chain on. Don't
be silly, boys. See you in the morning.
All righty, boys. Before we jump into
the crabbing today, I will throw into a
little bit of flicking I got to do with
my new magic wand and reel that I got
thanks to Last Cast Customs. Quickly
roll on that. But before we do, without
further ado, we got the family on board.
Little one and all. Just had to go back
and get a hat for little miss. We will
untie this and we'll go check the pots.
But have a look at this fish we caught.
Was a bit of fun. I got out with the
misses. went out on a few solo missions.
So, you'll see a bit of that footage,
but clean that lens for you. I'll see
you when we're getting these pots. Let's
get it, D.
He's
still on there.
Oh, he's right there. Jackie boy.
All right. All right.
Oh, that's a good one, too.
First fish on the new rod. Yeah, buddy.
That is a goodie, too. Got to love that,
boys. Get out into the middle.
are good.
Lovely.
The old twitch it
twitch it with the flasher. Got to love
that. The old flasher just fell off, but
I'll put him back on. And we have
a beautiful
What do I mean? Absolutely gorgeous.
Mangrove jack. You love that, boys.
We'll put him on the brag mat and give
him a little measure. Lovely.
Hello.
Lovely. Hey,
look at you. Hey, beautiful little
finger mark.
Bit of spot as well. I'll give him a
measure because legal they do not go
back. Sorry.
He is
38 39. So that's another one for the
box.
I go Jack.
Slip,
slop, slap. All right,
one there. Co, you want to come sit on
me lap or you right there? Happy there.
All right, let's get it, dudes.
>> Don't hold on to them pods.
>> You'll be fine. You don't have to hold
on to anything. We're just going to go a
bit slower today. Okay, let's go get
these pods. Who's going to catch the
most?
>> You.
>> I think this cuz he always gets
>> All right. What about you? Are you going
to catch any crabs? Let's get it, dudes.
We are on the move.
Let's get it.
We got seven pots to check from
yesterday. Let's see how we did. Look at
me little croc spotters. We got Oh,
we've had a blowout with the hat.
We got two little crop spotted down
there and a little rock hopper back
here. Hey, you little mud skipper. Hey.
Yeah,
let's go back and watch.
There they are. Is that them? Is that
them?
He don't want to be on the YouTube, but
this is last cast customs demand himself
and his kids and family. So, we'll turn
him off here. All righty, boys. We are
coming up to the first spot and have a
look at this. What a joke. So, there was
no pots in here yesterday. There's one
foot over here at this street and
there's one right underneath my pot.
What is wrong with people? Seriously. So
obviously my pot would have been
checked.
>> Rated for sure.
>> Uh what do you do though? Like feel like
just like seriously who puts a pot there
when there's one above it? There was
100% no pots here yesterday. Yeah. Just
watch that tree Kenny.
100% no pots here yesterday. And look at
this. Grab that tree cult.
>> No, it's all right.
>> It's all right.
>> I know.
>> That is just ridiculous though.
Seriously.
>> Anyway,
let's check this rated pot.
>> Little crabs. Oh, well, what do you do?
That's why I crab during the week, boys.
That's why crab during the week anyway.
Two little crabs in there. See you
later.
Get rid of the bait.
See load of bait. And we'll collapse it
down. I sort of stuck us in this tree
for a reason so that we don't float
away.
We're going to do something different
today. We're going to stuck the pots on
the side like so. So the kids still have
their little spot
ropes in there. We'll see how we go with
that to start with. All right. You
ready, dudes?
>> Coming out.
>> Oh, it's all right.
>> Did we get any?
>> No, mate. Someone looks like they've
been in my pot.
>> All right, off to the next. Hopefully,
they didn't get up to some of them. I
did go up some creeks that people won't.
So, let's go see.
>> Huh?
>> There was only little.
>> All right, we found pot number two. It's
going to be a little bit of a mission.
See how we go. I got little bubs on me
lap.
>> Dad,
that one. No. But say people have been
up here. So this one's probably being
looked at as well.
>> Why are people looking up?
>> Yeah, because some people aren't really
good. It's just what they do. I know
it's not the right thing to do, but they
still do it. You just can help mommy
pull this one in if you want.
Try to be quick about it, Mom, cuz this
tide's raging.
You're doing an awesome job.
Little one again. All right.
Get rid of the stinky bait first if you
want.
She's broken smarter, not harder. Look
at her go. Anyone as big as my wife.
Getting
down, Bubby. You struck the daddy
anyway. You can't go anywhere.
Beautiful work, love.
Even the noggin, not the big muscles of
yours.
Put your hat back on, bug. We're not
traveling fast at the moment.
>> There's another one up here.
Sorry about the photography, guys.
There's a bit going on. That's all
right.
>> Why do you put them in the trees now?
because there was really really really
big tides which means the water runs
really fast.
No good. Someone has definitely been in
here. That's all right.
>> Two metal bag.
>> Yeah.
>> Wait. Maybe they keep they they keep one
small one and then they put the other
small one
and then they keep
>> Yes, they keep all my big crabs to
themselves, do you think?
>> Hey,
>> yeah.
>> You think they kept them all back on,
baby?
>> Is it just going to get smaller and
smaller? And
>> we're just at our pot now, buddy.
Oh my god, there's melting more.
>> Can you see it in the tree?
>> One.
>> Yeah,
>> that's it.
>> How many spots do we have left after
this one?
>> After this one, we got three left.
>> Are they all down here?
>> No, they're out.
Mom told you that there will be here.
>> Whoa.
>> Why don't you sit here and take
>> us?
Yeah. I can't do that.
You're doing awesome health, guys. You
are the best.
>> It's a bit trying in these big tides,
isn't it?
>> He's a goodie.
See the ones that they don't come to,
boys. It's got a goodie in it. See?
Got hard to figure out what's going on
then. Is it
all right? And um turn us around. We'll
cut out. I'll fire him up cuz crab copy
him up.
>> I can't give my
copy me cameraman.
>> You film me, buddy.
>> Cameraman.
>> Can I be camera lady after?
>> Yeah.
>> Yay.
All right, I got them, buddy.
There we go.
Measure down there. Is it
>> Is it on?
>> Yeah. Just touch the screen.
They're nice and still, buddy. I'm wind.
You're
>> doing a good job.
>> All right, let's have a look at this.
This far,
what do you reckon? That's a goodie,
boys. That's a goodie all day. Look at
that. He's a good half a centimeter
over. Nice and hard. Check him on his
six-pack. Beautiful, hard, solid crab.
>> Can we have these?
>> Film down here, buddy. And I'll show
them how we tie him up. So you just want
to pin him down like so. Wrap that
around his back
daddy doing it.
>> Just like that.
>> Roll him forwards. The trick, boys. Roll
him forward. It pins his nippers there.
Tuck that one up under there. And look
at that. 10 seconds. We have a perfectly
tied mud crab. Can't hurt no one. All
right. Beautiful. At the end, I'll put
them in a wet hessen bag to look after
them. But we'll see if we can get some
more. E. Let's get it. Heat
up here.
All right.
See the ones where people don't go to,
guys.
Well, it's good to have the little boat
sometimes.
I'll get out of the hard bit. We'll turn
this around and we will switch again.
Yeah, it works. It definitely works
riding them, boys.
>> Oh, people won't rub and it'll be all
right. Oh, that too. But
they're everywhere nowadays.
>> That one was
I got one point.
>> So to make myself a bit of room for next
time, I'll come up there, boss. You can
putt us out. I'll get us around this
hard stick.
>> Yeah, that' be great.
>> I'll get us around the hard stick. Just
leave that pot there. We should fit it
through. Thread the needle as we do.
>> Stay there.
>> And that's what I was talking about. You
can only get up here on this tide. This
time of the tide, the higher tide. And
it looks like we have produced a nice
muddy out of it.
>> There's at least one in here.
>> People won't come up here cuz it's a
little bit harder.
>> They don't want to wreck their pretty
boats.
>> Don't want to scratch that paint.
>> What is it, Bobby?
Holding on. Hold on to her, Kenna. There
we go. Sit down.
>> Here we go.
>> All right. Here.
>> Yep. You sit in
>> cameraman. You have to do it next week
because I didn't bring my
>> Yeah, that's right.
>> That is woody on any scale, boys. Look
at him. Look at his eyes.
Bubbly. Can I have a crab cup if you're
hable, my love?
>> Yeah.
>> Pass him up to daddy.
>> Thank you, darling.
>> Crab cop him up, boys. I'll do it this
way so you can see how I do it from
behind. Boom. Slide it up underneath
just like so.
Roll him forward. That is the trick with
this. Roll him forward.
And
Bob's your uncle. Another one did that
one. He shouldn't even cross her. Daddy,
>> babe, do I need to lift the motor up?
>> No.
>> To get over this thing.
>> No.
>> Stay there.
>> Moving
tickle. Come on, buddy.
>> Closer to this right side. Hey.
>> Yeah.
>> Hey there, Bobby. Nearly done.
>> Happy learn how to fish.
Oh, I see that one. He's growing his
nipple back, guys.
>> All right. Yeah, he's only got a little
one. So, he must have lost that. He's
got a real little one and a big one, but
he's couple of mill under. So, he goes
back.
>> We got two.
>> It's enough for you guys to have some
yummy crab.
If I repeat that one, Kelsey could have
like a mini little
>> I don't
sh
I don't slow up. No, I don't take [ __ ]
I got no love for the babies. If you
want to play, you want to show up.
I never show up. I want to make sure I
got to play
this show.
Everything I do
every
like I got a better
negative should be.
I got backs over fact backs over tracks
and basket slow gas. I can roast a gas
pay but I don't know if that can erase
all the past and the pettiness over the
emptiness. Hilarious. You think you're
worth my time. You're delirious.
Mysterious because you want behind a
bit. Get off of me. This ain't no
humble.
>> Nothing. So this one's being checked. So
the only two pots we got crabs in are
the two that people didn't check. This
one was out in the open as well.
And it has been raided. So there you go,
boys. Hide your pots. It's almost not
worth even putting them out in the open
anymore.
Bait's gone. One measly crab in there.
He's gone. We'll pack him down and we're
going to go take the kids back for a
swim. But I do have a giveaway. So kids,
I won't use both cuz I've got two little
packs to do away. I want you to pick one
word to do with fishing or crabbing.
What is it?
>> Fishing rod.
>> Rod. So, that is one code word. If you
comment that, you're in the running for
it's a five pack of crab cups. I'll show
you that when I'm back at home. And a
few other little bits and bobs. And what
is your word cult for the other prize? I
want to do a girl and a boys prize. So,
his will be the girl boys and the rod
will be for the girls. What's your word,
buddy?
Crabbing.
>> What?
>> Crabbing.
>> Crabbing. All right. There you go.
There's your two code words, boys and
girls. And I'll show you what the prize
is. But more than less, it's a five pack
of crab cups, a few stickers. Um, and I
think I've got some lures there to throw
in as well. But I'll see who's back when
we're having some fun with the kids back
at the pool and we'll go from there.
Let's get it. We
>> go on another mission, Fred. Mission
number two in the car. Let's see how we
go. But this time can only get better.
