We went treasure hunting in places nobody would ever think to look…
From panning for gold in the streets of NYC’s Diamond District to diving in a millionaire’s canal in Florida, my friend and I searched for treasure in the most unexpected places. Watch to see what treasure we found.
Locations:
1. New York City Diamond District
2. Millionaire’s Canal
3. Universal Studios
4. Luxary Mall
5. Country Club

For years treasure hunters have searched the most extreme locations for a shot at fame and fortune.
But what if I told you some of the best treasures aren't buried in some far off place,
but hidden in spots you walk past every day.
So today my friend and I are going to search five unexpected locations from
Universal Studios to a billionaire's canal to see what treasure we can find.
And what better place to start than the street where people drop gold every day.
This is New York's jewelry district.
Turns out these sidewalks are paved with more than just gold.
That's a princess cut diamond.
There are diamonds, rubies, sapphires.
It's been in there for years and it's embedded in there.
I know it sounds crazy but yes there is actually gold hidden in these sidewalks
and tonight we're going to mine as much as we can, pan it out and see if we can find a diamond.
Then once the sun set we grabbed our supplies and got to work.
So first we're going to use this tool to loosen the dirt.
Then we're going to vacuum it up and dump it into this bucket.
This is the American dream ladies and gentlemen.
We're literally mining a street.
We have the potential to find diamonds, rubies, sapphires.
Dude it's like 12 30 and I'm freezing.
People risk their lives every day to mine gold and all we have to do is vacuum a sidewalk.
Come on.
Now for the next hour we continued repeating this process
and ignoring the weird looks until I spotted something shiny in the dirt.
What?
You got an earring.
Whoa, whoa.
That's an earring.
Check it out.
Yeah that's way too light to be real gold.
But the stones could be real.
All right.
Moment of truth.
Ready?
And it's fake.
But listen if we already found a fake ring in an hour, who knows what else we could find down here.
And if you don't know why you can find gold here,
basically hundreds of jewelers cut gold on the street and over time tiny pieces fall off,
get stuck in their shoes and then end up in the cracks.
Also a lot of gems and diamonds are extremely small.
So if someone were to drop one it'd be almost impossible to find
unless you have the proper equipment.
Now as the night went on we continued mining farther down 47th street
past rows of never-ending jewelry stores filling our bucket with more and more material.
All right Klaus, I think we got about five pounds.
We start paying this?
No, no, no.
We need at least 20 pounds if we want to make this worth a while.
20 pounds?
Yes.
The more dirt we find the better odds of finding some real treasure.
I told you.
This is the city that never sleeps.
We're in New York.
You gotta believe.
So we kept at it and continued mining more dirt that could be worth thousands.
We're onto something.
Oh yeah.
I can smell the gold.
Then after another two hours of cleaning every crack we could find I headed inside to start panning.
Now while Clem finishes collecting dirt I'm gonna begin the panning process
since it does take time to get right.
Also big thanks to my buddy's mom Nancy for letting us use her basement.
All right I've been making some progress but I'm running out of places to dig.
Hopefully Klaus finding something good.
See a little gold in there.
Very tiny.
But that's exactly what we want to see in there guys.
Probably worth about ten dollars.
Definitely a good start.
Then I kept running dirt through the old three phase screening process to
separate the lighter stuff from the heavier material until I spotted our first gem.
Oh my gosh.
Dude look at that.
That's an emerald.
Oh my days.
You could probably get at least 100 bucks for this emerald.
Give me some.
And New York City is just the first place we're searching.
We still have four spots left to hunt that are even crazier.
That's it.
No more dirt left in the sidewalk.
I'm done.
Here's your last bucket.
Thank you man.
Then for the next hour we carefully panned one scoop at a time while trying
not to miss any small gems or diamonds.
Stay focused.
This is where the magic happens.
And after sifting through more than half the bucket we found a blue sapphire
and another $50 worth of gold.
But still nothing extremely valuable.
We're close Clem.
I can feel it.
Just need one big one to change everything.
Now after patiently sifting through the majority of the dirt all we found were a few more specks
of gold so I was starting to lose hope until something shiny caught my eye.
Oh my god.
No way.
Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys.
I think we got a diamond.
No, it's glass.
Look, look, look, look, look.
Nate, get a close-up.
Get a close-up.
Oh my gosh.
Guys, no way.
No way.
That's a diamond.
Look at the shape.
It's triangular.
Let me see.
That's actually a diamond.
We actually just found a diamond in the New York sidewalk cracks.
Foot claw.
We gotta double check.
Let's see.
It's crossed.
It's real.
Oh my god.
Let's go.
Guys, the stories are true.
We saw a few videos of people claiming to find golden diamonds.
We had our doubts.
But honestly, at the end of the day, this right here is real proof, guys.
Wow.
Then we left New York and headed to our second location.
All right, everyone.
We just made it to a canal that's lined with some of the most expensive houses in Florida.
I'm talking yachts, private docks, and diamond rings.
And we're about to dive in and see what these millionaires left behind.
So we powered up our detectors and started scanning the canal, hoping to find something valuable.
And within a few minutes, we found a rusty hook, a bottle cap, and a ton of junk.
But then something colorful caught my eye.
After doing a little scanning, I just found this necklace right here.
This could be worth like 50 bucks.
$50.
Look at these gemstones.
This is plastic claw.
More like 50 cents.
You know what?
Maybe you're right.
But I'm telling you, people found some crazy stuff in this canal,
like gold coins that sold for a million dollars.
We're only one signal away from buying a mansion like these.
We just gotta keep hunting.
So for the next hour, we took turns using the dive system and uncovered a 1972 bicentennial pin
and an old school lock with the key still inside.
Although that was nothing compared to what I found next.
Oh, yeah.
We got a Mickey Mouse watch.
Whoa.
You just found that?
Yeah.
That could be worth some actual money.
Timex is a good brand.
I told you we'd find good stuff in here.
That's nice, but it's not gonna buy us one of these mansions.
That's true.
But some of these locals are worth billions of dollars.
You're telling me that someone at some point didn't drop a Rolex or a nice little diamond ring?
They could've.
A Rolex is nothing to them.
It's pocket change.
So if they drop it, they're probably not gonna dive in to get it back.
So despite the water being a tad cold,
we continued searching alongside the canal while dodging crabs, stingrays, and the occasional boat.
Now after pulling up more luxury trash, we found a black and gold decorative rope,
a weathered metal cross, and a solid silver ID bracelet from the 70s.
But still nothing extremely valuable.
You find anything?
There's nothing down here but bottle caps and empty soda cans.
Honestly, swimming back and forth was taking forever,
so I decided to rent a boat so we could cover more ground,
increase our chances, and take this hunt to the next level.
What is that?
Another watch.
Are you serious?
Psycho, that's nice.
I knew this was gonna be a good spot, guys.
When they have yards that are this fancy, there's bound to be something good in the water.
At this rate, we find another four or five watches today.
Yeah.
Might be an easy 300 bucks.
Now thanks to this boat, we were able to search even faster,
which helped us find some more unique stuff like a 1992 Olympics pin,
another watch from the 1970s, and a silver ring with the sick design.
Just finished clearing out this area.
We're about to head to the next area where they have even more mansions, baby.
More money, more valuables.
Whatever there is down there, we're gonna find it.
So with only a few hours of daylight left,
we kicked it into high gear and continued diving multiple locations
where we managed to uncover our fourth watch of the day,
a nice gold-plated earring, and a strand of turquoise beads.
Oh, yeah.
That's what I'm talking about.
All this for the collection.
Then just when I thought we were out of luck,
I found an old bronze piece with a green stone that looked like something out of a movie.
Honey, man, it's always the locations that people never think to search
where we find the best stuff.
Now after spending the entire day searching the canal, this is the best stuff we found.
At the end of the day, we didn't find a diamond ring or Gucci sunglasses,
but we did find some cool jewelry and other old relics here.
Definitely not a bad haul.
Then the next day, we headed to another spot where people would never think to search.
We just made it to Universal Orlando, and we're about to do some magnet fishing.
I just want to go to Harry Potter World.
Relax, man. We're just gonna do a quick 1,000 throws, and we'll be on our way.
1,000? That's gonna take us all day.
Listen, boats come by here all day long with tourists,
and you never know what they might drop in the water.
We do have to be quick, though, because we're not trying to get banned.
Banned?
Yeah.
If I get banned, I can't go to Harry Potter World.
We'll be quick. Let's go.
So I started tossing the magnet, hoping to pull up something interesting,
while also trying to stay clear of any boats that could call security.
Oh, a boat's coming. A boat's coming.
Oh, s***.
Pull, pull, pull. The bag in the back.
And it didn't take long for us to realize this place was absolutely crawling with employees.
So what's your favorite ride?
I like Dr. Seuss, Cat in the Hat.
Pretty good one.
That was a close one.
We've got to be very cautious, guys.
If we're going to find any treasure down here, we've got to be patient.
Let's lock in.
Then, miss after miss after miss, I finally caught something.
We got something.
Oh, what is that?
Oh my god, we got a pen.
And it's not just any pen. It's a universal pen.
Look at that. Is that gold?
This could be gold. This could be aluminum.
Someone might have bought this at the gift shop like 50 years ago.
You're not excited?
It looks like trash.
This is just the beginning.
There's proof that there is stuff down there. So let's keep searching.
Oh, we got some old rusty bolts.
This could be from the boats, maybe.
Some trash.
It's better than nothing, man. This isn't just any trash.
This is universal trash.
That was a close one, finally.
Why did you not tell me the boat was coming?
You see that guard? You see the guard?
He's looking for us.
Dude, why did you not tell me anyone was coming?
I was, we were looking at the treasure we found.
Our hunt almost ended right there.
Lock in, bro. You're not getting any of this treasure.
Just go to universal and you can sit here with your magnet,
looking out for the boats.
Right now, we're making our way closer to Universal Studios.
And this is the bridge where all the cars drive around.
So if they wanted to get rid of something, they'd throw it right here for us to find.
This is risky. We might get kicked out here.
Treasure hunters got to do what a treasure hunter's got to do.
Sometimes you have to take risks to get the reward.
So despite a few close calls,
I refused to give up until we found something valuable or got kicked out.
So we kept throwing far and wide, trying different techniques to boost our odds.
But little did we know, security was already on our tail.
A boat's coming. A boat's coming.
Oh, we got something though. We got something.
Oh, no, it's not a coin. Just a piece of metal.
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
So unfortunately, we haven't had too much luck since we found that pen.
So we're going to go toss our magnet right in front of the entrance
and see if we can have some better luck.
Then less than a minute later, security just missed us.
They're on to us.
Oh, my God.
She's going over there looking for us because we were just over there.
That was perfect timing. Right where she's heading,
we were from the last hour tossing like 100, 200 times.
Yeah, she's probably going over there to look for us.
We need to make sure there's no witnesses.
Treasure hunting is not an easy game, ladies and gentlemen.
We're going to get kicked out if we go over here.
Two security guards just went right to where we were fishing.
I think you're just being paranoid, man.
We're not going to be able to go to Harry Potter.
Finding treasure is more important than Harry Potter.
Thousands of people visit here every day.
Now, at this point, we were running out of time,
so I decided to take a chance and climb onto the bridge to get a better angle.
No, surprisingly, after using my level 99 speech craft,
we escaped charge free and headed to our fourth location.
We just made it to our next location, a mall with some high-end luxury stores,
and we're about to go do some dumpster diving to see if we can find anything valuable
because I've seen a ton of videos of people finding some crazy stuff
like electronics and designer bags.
So tonight, we're going to test our luck and see if we can find any treasure.
So we geared up in fake sanitation uniforms and waited for the stores to close.
This is peak dumpster diving hours right here, guys.
1140, all the stores just closed, and we have first pickings.
Let's go. Let's go.
So we got to work and began searching one dumpster at a time
while trying to stay clear of any security.
Oh, oh, oh, oh.
Wait, wait, wait, wait. Christmas cards.
No.
Anti-dumpster divers, they ripped them all up.
You've got to be kidding me.
These were all perfectly good cards, guys.
Six dollars each.
People would have loved these, and they just ripped them all out.
Every dumpster is like a mystery box.
You never know what you're going to find.
There might be a few cockroaches in here,
but sometimes you have to get your hands dirty if you want to reap the rewards.
Why don't we just get normal jobs to make money?
It's not as fun, man.
Let me know if you see anything expensive, like any Gucci belt, designer bags.
There's a cigarette over here.
Now, although we hadn't had much luck yet,
we kept searching one dumpster at a time until I found this.
We just hit the jackpot.
Are you serious?
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Look at this.
Brand new posters in package.
One, two, three, four, five, six posters.
Minecraft.
Yeah, not bad.
Everybody loves Minecraft.
This is going to be easy to resell.
I bet you there's more in here, too.
Get inside.
There's got to be something else down here.
Those posters are the only thing.
We searched it all.
There's nothing.
Wait, what did you just say?
No way.
Oh, my God.
This is like 20 posters.
Dude, NFL license.
We found four Miami Dolphins posters and an NFL poster.
Oh, yeah.
I'm feeding for more dumpsters.
This is the momentum we needed.
Now, after loading up our finds, we moved to a new part of the mall,
hoping to find a luxury dumpster.
Don't act suspicious, guys.
Get back, get back.
What if they saw us?
I think we're all right.
We got the uniforms to blend in.
As you can see, I got the official garbage man license.
I'm not doing anything illegal, you know.
Just looking at your trash.
Then as the night went on, we kept sifting through more of the same torn up packaging
and discarded displays until we hit dumpster 29 and found our first trace of luxury.
Guys, this might be the find of the night.
Cartier.
Whoa, what?
I thought that was it.
That find shows that some of these designer stores could actually throw out some of their stuff.
So we searched every inch of this dumpster, but still came up short.
I have a good feeling, just a few more.
Oh, it's like 2 a.m., man.
Just a couple more dumpsters, guys.
Wrap it up.
I can feel it coming.
I know we're going to hit big.
Now, at this point, the boys were exhausted and momentum was fading,
but I refused to stop until we searched at least 100 dumpsters.
Oh, this is a spot, boys.
Therefore, we trekked on and continued scouring every dumpster in this mall.
Screen protectors, four bucks.
Ball pump, eight dollars.
Sunglasses, six bucks.
But then, around dumpster 52, we realized we weren't the only ones searching.
We got competition pressure.
There's someone trying to take your dumpster.
You have to kick them out.
You have to assert dominance in the dumpster diving game.
This is not a joke.
This is a lifestyle.
I thought you were just calling this a waste of time.
You said you wanted to go home.
No, I'm committed now.
Hey, you dumpster diving?
Yeah.
We're looking for a retainer.
Oh, okay.
I got you.
I thought you guys were just partaking in the hobby as well.
No, no.
We're looking for a 400 dumpster.
A hard lesson here.
It happens.
Good luck on your treasure hunting journey.
I think we can relax.
They are not trying to steal our treasure.
So, as the night wore on, we continued digging through a never-ending wasteland of dumpsters,
hoping to strike it rich and prove the American dream is still alive.
Retirement guide.
I'm trying to find some Gucci.
Then, after another hour of searching, we found a bubble blower, a pool set,
and an empty cash box.
Here, come here, come here.
Look what I found.
More trash.
Come on.
We've currently searched 90 dumpsters.
I'm on my fifth Red Bull of the night right now, and I've been in for four.
We got 10 dumpsters left, 100 straight, and then we call it a day.
We're like in the bag.
I'm not going to lie.
I don't even think these are luxury stores anymore.
We don't even know where we are right now, guys.
It's like four in the morning.
We're kind of lost.
We've just been searching so many dumpsters.
We've lost track of time.
Boom.
What do they like to sell?
We might be able to sell that for a couple bucks at the flea market.
Now, as our search neared its end, we found a Bluetooth speaker,
cologne samples, and a baseball bag.
But that wasn't nearly as interesting as what we found next.
I think I got something good.
No shot.
This is massive.
Look at this.
No way.
No.
Are you kidding me?
He cut them open?
It's all sliced.
No.
This is destroying the game of dumpster diving.
This was our come off.
Oh.
Oh, this one's still good.
We got a gorilla.
That's good.
Add that to the collection.
It looks like they forgot to cut a hole in a few of these toys.
We're taking them.
Now, after searching 100 dumpsters, we managed to find about $150 worth of stuff,
but nothing insane since a lot of the luxury store dumpsters were locked up or inside the building.
We just made it into an exclusive country club, but we're not here to do any golfing.
We're here to get in the water and see what we can find.
So after scouting out the club, we found the perfect body of water on the side of the course
just out of sight of any workers.
Then we started tossing the magnet, hoping to find something valuable.
Obviously, there's a ton of golf balls around here.
We're trying to find something that's a bit more expensive, like fancy golf equipment,
where some jewelry one of the members dropped.
This is definitely a spot that the average person would never think to look for treasure.
So you never know.
I don't know, man.
I'm not sure there's actually treasure in here.
We've only thrown the magnet three times.
I just want to go golfing.
Why would you want to pay hundreds to go golf when you can make money treasure hunting?
But after taking turns tossing the magnet for an hour, all we managed to catch was seaweed.
What a surprise.
More seaweed.
So at this point, I decided to dive in and use my metal detector to see if we could have
some better luck.
And after just 30 minutes, I found a bunch of vintage golf balls, some old bottles, and
a torn up bag.
Then shortly after, I got a strong signal on my detector.
So I dug down and pulled up our best find yet, a vintage brass divot tool.
Finally, we got something interesting out here.
Then later in the day, I decided to take a risk and search even closer to the course.
We're currently making our way deeper into the course.
Multiple holes all in this area.
So I continued searching while trying to stay clear of any gators or snakes that might be
lurking down here.
Now, after hours of pulling up nothing but golf balls, I was starting to lose hope when
I spotted our most expensive find yet.
Then just as we let our guard down, security rolled up.
Guess the country club is chill like that.
All right, everyone.
That's going to do it for this video.
Huge thanks to everyone that made it to the end.
