Hi, I'm Brad.
I'm John.
Alright.
So, Tommy has, Johansson, has, as he does every week, released a cover!
Alright, yeah.
Uh, I mean, like that.
Yep.
I've skipped a bunch of them because I just haven't recognized them.
A couple of Swedish ones, and now, you know, other things were floating around.
But this week's was kind of one of those, oh, I know that song!
Yes, we've got to do that.
So, we are.
Alright, sounds good to me.
Specifically, it's a metal cover of a Duran Duran song called Ordinary World.
Yep.
It's a good song.
Very good song.
It's actually one of my favorite Duran Duran songs.
Anyway.
So, Ordinary World, sung by the English pop rock band Duran Duran, released 19th of December
in 1992.
God, is this from the 90s?
This was from 1992.
End of 1992 as well, because the album, which was a self-titled album, so, Duran Duran's
album, Duran Duran, which was released in 1993, otherwise known as The Wedding Album.
It peaked at number three on the Hot 100, peaked at number one on a couple of the smaller
American charts, but number three on the Hot 100.
Number two in Iceland and Sweden, and number six on the UK singles chart.
Only six?
It should have been higher.
Weird fact that I found about this one, which amused me, was lead vocalist Simon LeVant
sang the song with Luciano Pavarotti, the famous opera singer, at a benefit concert
for Orrchild, which is a charity.
Well, it's pretty obvious what it's a charity dealing with.
But yeah, this song was sung as a duet with Luciano Pavarotti.
I'm actually curious enough that I'm going to see if I can actually find that and watch
it, because I am very curious as to how that would have worked.
But we're going to watch Tommy's metal cover version.
All right.
Well, it's a good song, and we know Tommy knows how to do great cover, so probably check
it out.
Make sure you hit that like and subscribe.
Check out the description down below.
You're going to find all the links, information, and stuff that we have down there.
Okay.
I shall hit record.
I shall hit play.
Still I can't escape the ghost of you.
What has happened to it all?
Crazy some say.
Where is the life that I recognize?
But I won't cry for yesterday.
There's an ordinary world.
Somehow I have to fight.
And if I try to make my way through the ordinary world, I will learn to survive.
Bash on the quills again.
YouTube pause.
It's been such a long time since I actually listened to this song.
Yeah.
Well, I say that that's technically incorrect, because I actually listened to the original
earlier today.
Well, you know.
When I was splitting this, it was a simple case of, I haven't listened to that song in
ages.
Someone had to now look it up.
I used to have it on my YouTube playlist.
Found things on there.
Look, I think they blocked it.
I think it was the voice when the contestants did it.
And I thought they did a great job on it.
I have to look this up, see if I still have it.
It wasn't blocked.
Yeah, see if it's still floating around.
And obviously Tommy.
Yeah.
The metal?
Yeah.
I will learn to survive.
Quills again.
What prompted you to say.
The ride will tear us both apart.
Well, not right.
Gone out the window.
Crossed the rooftops.
Run away.
Left me in the vacuum of my heart.
What is certain to me?
Crazy some say.
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away.
But I won't cry for yesterday.
It's an ordinary world.
Somehow I have to fight.
And if I try to make my way through the ordinary world,
I will learn to survive.
Papers in the woods, I tell of suffering and grief.
Here today.
How about that?
YouTube pause.
I love YouTube.
Yeah, that was meant to be.
That's it.
Oh well.
Ah.
Actually watching him play this,
you don't realise how simple in a way some of the guitar parts on these classic songs actually are.
You know, I wouldn't call that simple.
I don't know how that's like.
Well, comparatively speaking, simple to play.
There's, okay, he's doing it on a couple of different guitars and stuff.
Obviously a bass.
But, like, when he's doing the guitar solo, it's very simple.
Just, sort of thing.
Yeah.
It's not, you know, overly complicated.
Which some songs really are.
So it just goes to show that, you know, you can have these great classic songs,
which are, you know, instrument-wise, relatively easy to play.
Compared with, you know, a modern guitar.
I don't play any instruments.
I'm not going to say anything really diplomatic.
You play an instrument.
Yeah, I play guitar.
I could probably play that with a couple of hours to, you know, practice.
I play the violin, I don't know, like 10.
So, that's about it.
And the flute that we always have to play in elementary school.
I played the guitar for about 8 years.
Piano for about 15.
So, anyway.
Years in the woods I tell of suffering and greed
Fear today, forgot tomorrow
Here besides the news of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrowful time
But I won't cry for yesterday
It's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to fight
And if I try to make my way
Through the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
And it's war
I like the way he did it.
Yeah, he's...
I think we say it on every one of his videos.
He's fun to watch.
He's a joy to watch, I mean.
Yeah, obviously.
He knows how to play.
He knows how to sing.
Yeah, I mean, you'd think he'd be in a band.
I know.
I mean, you know.
Maybe he should join a band like Sabaton.
Maybe Majestica.
I mean, that's a bit of a small band.
Yeah, he'd probably do well in something like that.
I will admit I also like the RTN shot.
On the bass guitar.
The sudden slow-mo.
You can literally just see how much the string vibrates.
Cool RT shot to end the video.
Ignoring him, you know.
We're going to end the video with Tommy Cheese.
Eee!
Kind of like the Gabriel stare.
Yeah, I mean, what more can you say about him?
I think we say it every time.
You enjoy watching the videos.
You have fun watching the videos.
Because he's obviously enjoying and having fun making the videos.
We look forward to when he releases something new.
Like, oh, what did he do this week?
Like I said, it is basically every week, pretty much, that he releases something.
Just a matter of when we find it interesting.
We should check out the other ones.
We might be like, oh, yeah, we should.
There's so many other things to do.
Well, lots of things.
We have a backlog of stuff that people keep asking us to do.
We're trying to get to it.
New stuff keeps popping up.
So it's always kind of like, oh, we want to do the new stuff.
Instead of, you know, okay, that would be good to do.
But it's older.
Well, if you want to see any of those, make sure you hit that like and subscribe.
