Hi, I'm Brad, and I'm John.
Okay.
So, I said over the weekend, actually, that, you know, as opposed to 80s music, some of
the stuff is a bit, we're going to be doing, well, this is the, this is the, yeah, a bit.
So Tommy Johansson, all of his faults, thought this was going to be a good idea, and it amused
me enough that we're actually going to do it.
So, we shall see.
He's done an epic rock cover.
Unfortunately, he did an epic rock cover of a song by a boy band called Hanson.
This particular one comes from 1997.
Unfortunately, it's mob.
That had been like the most annoying.
It wasn't, but it was up there because it was everywhere.
So, I asked AI, how many times I say that?
Nope, nope.
I asked AI what it thought the hell the song was about.
AI says, it's about the fleeting nature of life and relationship.
It's awfully similar to some of the other things you say, AI.
Anyway, urging listeners to hold on to what truly matters.
The song emphasizes that most relationships are short-lived, encouraging conscious choices and
cherishing meaningful connections before time passes.
It's a boy band song, AI.
You're reading too much into this.
The song serves as a reminder to appreciate moments and people because, as the chorus
suggests, they could be gone in a moment.
There's more words to it than that.
Apparently.
I guess we shall find out.
Yeah, unfortunately, the chorus is the only thing that's going to stick in your head.
Exactly, and that's why you forget about anything else that's ever said.
Yes, pretty much.
So, yes, congratulations.
You're listening to this.
You're going to have the chorus stuck in your head now.
You're welcome for the rest of the week.
The rest of your life.
I heard this song back in 1997.
I haven't forgotten the chorus yet.
Yeah, but you don't sing it every day.
Now you're going to be singing it in your mind every day for at least a while.
Not every day, but probably at least once a month it pops into my head for some stupid
reason.
It's a nasty chorus.
It's like elevator music.
All right, before we get going, make sure you hit that like and subscribe.
Anyway, it'll pop in my head.
Lots of songs do that.
Well, his version is definitely better than the original.
Right.
It's still, what do they call them?
Earwig song.
Gets stuck in your head.
Yeah, at least you know there are other lyrics to it.
Are there?
I didn't know this.
Too busy hearing him say it over and over again.
Now his isn't as bad.
Or it's not mentally as bad.
It's one of those songs where, like you said, you mentally replace everything in the song
with the chorus.
Yeah, but that just seems like all that.
It's the only clip you ever heard.
I am really curious as to what it looked like he had snuck a frame or two of text in
at the beginning.
So after this, I'm going to have to go back and go frame by frame and see what the text
actually said.
You noticed the smallest details.
I notice the weirdest details, usually.
Pause for YouTube.
So his version doesn't seem as normal.
I know, it doesn't.
Maybe because he doesn't have the squeaky preteen voice.
That's true.
He's also a better guitar player as well.
Although I will say, Hanson related, a lot of bands come and go without actually ever
making something that is good or bad memorable.
They managed to end up with a song, an annoying one, but they managed to end up with a song
which, to this day, is still ridiculously memorable.
And you can basically sing part of the chorus and people are going to go,
oh yeah, that Hanson song.
I mean, obviously, I was never a Hanson fan, so I couldn't tell you a single other song
they sung.
But me, along with millions of other people who aren't Hanson fans, know that song.
And you and millions of other people haven't recorded an annoying song.
A lot of the world knows, so hey.
Exactly.
They did that right.
And yeah, which says they did something that an awful lot of bands never accomplish.
Not just boy bands, but bands and groups in general.
Having something just go effectively viral.
But this was back in the 90s, before viral was even a thing.
That's when you had to rely on other people to get you to go viral.
You had to rely on radio stations and TV shows and all that stuff to get your song everywhere.
And they did it.
Thank you.
And they did it.
See, that was fun.
So goofy.
Yeah, I mean…
I know which Troncon song I'm going to use for the short.
I'll tell you that right now.
It's going to be the end part.
Nobody cares about any of the other lyrics.
It's just, yeah.
Yeah, he's out there.
He's having fun.
He could have had fun with 100 different songs.
I don't know.
I didn't mind his version of it, so…
Yeah, I didn't mind as much as the original.
But there again, the original, I mean, I could have told you.
Like I did.
There's lyrics to it.
They just say,
I know.
That was the impression that you got back in the day.
It just seemed like when you changed the radio station, that's all.
You just heard that section of the song.
And it was like, change, change, change.
What's on the other station?
Dope next.
Like I said, hey, you know, a lot of people can't say
they did anything like that, so they can't, right?
That's true.
All to them for doing that.
And I'm sure they're still around and about and doing music.
Yes, strangely enough.
Yeah, I think they are still doing music.
Weirdly.
You never hear anything from them anymore, though.
Oh, well, I'm not in that world to know if they're doing or, you know.
But I mean, you know, nothing ever popped up kind of like that massive flash in the pan.
Shall we say?
Well, that's true.
It's not like, you know, in 2020, it's kind of like the, you know, the latest Hanson song
kind of like explodes everywhere sort of thing.
And there again, who knows?
It could have been just there again.
I'm not on the radio anymore or anything.
Well, true.
Yeah, I think they actually have solo careers.
No, two of them have solo careers and one of them has an acting career,
but I think they still do some stuff together.
Well, once again, that was Tommy.
He had fun.
It was good.
He improved on the original, which wasn't hard.
He did good.
And we're definitely going to hit him up some more.
So if you want to see those, make sure you get that like and subscribe.
