VAN LIFE MORNING. This Has Been In My Drawer For a Year. CAMPFIRE SNACKS

You guys ever have those days where just nothing works out? That was my day yesterday. Yesterday yesterday was a crappy day. So you guys are lucky you never got a video. Even at the end of my day last night things didn't go well. I got back in here like I was originally thinking about going on camping in the Sprinter yesterday. That didn't work out. I filmed a little bit. It got cold. We threw some stuff in the Sprinter. I'm like all right cool let's go make a camping video. And then uh we got out and I stopped at the park and I got cold because there's no heater in it. And I was like this is gonna suck tonight. Then something happened. We had to come back to the shop. Then I just stayed here. And then we came back to this thing last night. I'm like I'm just gonna sleep in my van. We curled up in bed. Turned the heater on. There's not enough gas in my van to run my heater. It was just like all day. It was like that. I'm like I freaking quit. I quit. And I was debating on just driving down to the gas station and getting some fuel last night so we can run our heater. But me and Cid. Me and Crazy Bear. This guy. Hi buddy. We just snuggled all night and made it through it. But sleeping in this thing was better than sleeping in the Mercedes. Because at least this one's insulated. So it does hold some heat. Where that thing it would have been a chilly night. People downstairs are out here working. Oh no they took the big truck already this morning. I didn't even hear it. That's a big diesel too. I didn't even hear it. We're gonna move some vehicles and then we're gonna get out here this morning. All right let's put the Mercedes back inside. I failed camping adventure yesterday. Glad I didn't sleep in this thing man. This thing is really cold in here. But before we do anything today I gotta make sure we take out what I put in back into my van. Because we know what happens. We know how that goes. I get out there and I'm like oh I forgot my camp stove. Yeah great. It's cold in there man. That would have been a freezing night. I got this van here blocking the driveway even though we are allowed to drive on it. But if I'm not going to be here for a few days let's just keep people from parking on it. Like people coming to the business next door. Just to let that thing cure for a little while longer. And uh we got some of the wiring in for the Mercedes built. A bunch of this stuff came in yesterday. So we can start working on that pretty soon. We have another another roller too I think coming in. Are we having another one of those days today? I was thinking about packing up the hot tub and taking the hot tub out. But I ordered a pump so we can pump water from a creek into the hot tub. To make things just easier. Because you can't pump it with a pump that comes with a julep because it's only good enough pressure to have a little bit of a shower. It's not like gonna push push. Water would take 10 days to fill that thing up. So I went on to Amazon and I bought one that pushes six gallons a minute. Something like that. I don't remember what it was. But I think that's going to be arriving tonight I think. So we're going to go redo a hot tub video soon. I really want to do that right now because man after the day I had yesterday a good soak in a hot tub would be so good. This is a part of my van I'm not going to miss. This thing like you can you can barely put any pressure on it. And then it over clicks. Like it spits upwards. There you go see. This is how slow I got to fill up my fuel. The absolute slowest setting possible. It takes me like 10 minutes to fill my gas tank. All right timer's on. Even at the slowest I can go it's still still spitting back up. This has been going on in my van for years now. Some gas stations are worse than other gas stations. But I found flipping this thing upside down helps it drastically. Like really increases the chance of you actually getting fuel inside. When you go it the other way it spits up just about instantly. It got better. It did speed up a little bit. It's the speed at which the fuel comes out of the nozzle here that makes all the difference in the world. So we had a bunch of cars here just pull in which means everybody pulling from the pumps slowed down the fuel coming out of my nozzle which then made it faster. Total time to fill up the tank. Eight minutes. I had like a truck fill up and leave. A car in front of me fill up and leave. Another car pull up beside me fill up and leave. I'm like you guys are getting fat getting gas so fast. Not this guy. Today is turning out to be another yesterday. I just stopped to grab some coffee. I was talking to Scott from Static Camper Van and he recommended that I try 49th Parallel as a good Canadian coffee. So we're going to give that a shot. But then I bought these and I realized I took my coffee grinder into the shop the other day because a subscriber shipped us out some some coffee and we didn't have a grinder upstairs the shop. So I brought mine from my van and guess what? Guess what's not in my van? I gotta stop doing this. This is getting bad. It seems to seems to just be causing chaos for me right now. All right let's go find a little spot where we can have a campfire. I don't think we really need to go far just somewhere. All right I don't know if we're gonna make it through that. It's pretty narrow. We made it. We made it. That was a narrow fit. I thought for sure we're gonna rip something off. Hopefully you guys are cool with just having a nice chill morning with me here today. Honestly just gives you some some fresh air and some peace and quiet. Some bad food. Oh yeah sometimes that comfort food hits the spot. And those apple things that are made on the dutch oven. So good. So some people have asked um once I move into the Sprinter am I taking um all of this disco stuff with me into the Sprinter? I am not. I actually want to move these things into the shop anyway. Even if we have this van still in my life I still kind of like to put these in the shop. Because that's an original print. And you can see it's already getting moisture in the corners down here. And that's an original. So there's no replacing that if that happens to you know get wet or go bad. Same thing with this one here too. Like that's an original paper one. And so far you can see some water damage in the corner. And I like to save these before before they get wrecked. I was thinking about actually taking them out getting them laser done or like printed. And then putting them back in and keeping the originals. Oh boy do I got some cool things to show you guys. Dutch oven and this cool thing. All right we need to find three sticks. Hey Cruzy you want to help me find some sticks? You see there's blue sky behind you. Maybe that'll come visit. There's one stick. That one's a bit big but we'll take it. There's two sticks. That's a long one but we'll take it. Cruzy's like what the heck are you doing dad? We're looking for sticks buddy. There we go. Stick number three. That has got to be the worst looking start to a fire ever. We tried the teepee method and it was only a little fire burning in the corner. So we just piled it all on top of that. It's working. Look at that thing. This is bushcraft my friends. This is bushcraft. Well it's working. Sweet. All right let's show you guys this thing. It's pretty cool. You've seen this on Emily's channel before. Oh look at that fire baby. All right we're gonna take three sticks around about the same length. I should have brought the fire reflector. A little breeze is picking up. I should have brought the fire reflector. Now all you got to do is stick one stick in each hole. Now what this thing allows you to do is to run a chain through here to hang your dutch oven over the fire and you can adjust the length of the chain to bring the dutch oven closer or farther away from the fire depending on the heat that you super easy and when you want to stop it you slide this through there but a boom now the dutch oven can't go anywhere we're also trying out a different dutch oven today i just grabbed this one from amazon this one's aluminum supposed to be pretty good i'm just gonna fill this thing full of oil a little bit of water i'm gonna make some pancake mix all right in this bowl we do some cinnamon and sugar you know the grocery store today i couldn't find like traditional cinnamon like in like a bag like dollar store style all they had were these fancy things i probably could have bought this stuff at the dollar store but we don't have a good dollar store in this little town here i bet you this whole container would have cost me a dollar at the dollar store oh it's not even are you serious and i don't even have my coffee grinder here to make this into powder see how my days have been going smells good though but what the heck am i supposed to do with that so i guess we're just gonna make these as just sugar coated it'd be funner with cinnamon that was six dollars i hate this world right now it's so expensive let's see cut the centers out this is whole wheat pancake mix i should have got regular pancake mix but it doesn't stick as good all right everything's a fail today don't use whole wheat pan whole wheat pancake mix doesn't work 100 percent use regular good old white flour pancake mix whole wheat that's about the extent of my of my cooking on it but pretty cool these aren't as fun this time as they were last time i i'm keeping track of is the weather and there's no wind no sun nothing 80 days i'm not feeling better but a sweet relief is finding me i've had that little item in my van now for close to close to a year emily's been using hers for a year and i just haven't had the chance to tell you guys that hey guess what check out this cool thing that was fun but today's a little bit of a better day i don't know what was on with yesterday that snow look at crazy right there what are you what are you doing over there buddy and that's on that zoom like he's way over there hold on knock this out there you go there's the van he's just sitting in the ditch now when i was at the grocery store there was no cinnamon i literally there was rows there where cinnamon would have been then i'm looking over and find all this organic stuff over there i'm like well maybe i'll just buy expenses to just so i can come out here and get what i wanted out of my morning cinnamon and sugar on things like donuts and things like that made on the campfire so good without the cinnamon another thing i'll never buy pancake mix that says whole wheat on it again even my pancakes in the morning have been slightly disappointing there's nothing better than just good old white pancakes you know while we were filming that this morning my phone went dead thanks for these little little batteries man like as soon as it went dead i'm like god damn it let's grab the jackery seriously without running this little battery we wouldn't have been able to film the rest of the rest of cooking around the fire i would have had to put my camera back in the van it's a bit harder to harder to vlog my moments when uh when my camera's dead i would say the only downside to using an aluminum dutch oven i just thought i would give it a try i seen um another overlander uh use it and i thought it was pretty cool it is substantially lighter than than the same size cast iron one the difference would be if you're an actually a dutch oven cook someone who likes to cook on it these won't work because that's the great thing about the cast iron is because the cast iron holds heat for longer where this would dissipate it a lot more i think you would have to constantly keep this closer to the fire and constantly keep putting rocks on top if you're turning this into an actual oven where the cast iron i think would shine but i was cool i don't use it enough if i use it it's for stuff like that it's just lighter like i know they're not a lot of cut down like old growth stuff like really really big stuff but the poor little guy's all by himself that's okay they're all freshly planted down here so there's tons of little baby ones growing out there it looks so nice here but that stuff coming this way is is pretty damn nasty anyway guys that we would have a better moment here with better cooking but that was a fail and as soon as that failed on my chrome stop turning your camera on i tried to film yesterday all day anyway crew thanks for watching today i'll see you guys on the next one i think from amazon tonight my pumps and stuff are showing up for the hot tub so i can pump it from the creek into the hot tub making it fill faster because that's my biggest complaint about the hot tub is filling it takes too long and you can't use the the jewel cut pump system it just takes too long so i bought a better one so maybe in the next couple days we'll go maybe up in the snow if the snow's down any farther and find some fresh water and uh and try that hot tub out again that'd be awesome all right crew me and cruise you're
