What homeowners should actually pay attention to
You’ll learn how to read and understand the NFRC sticker, what the numbers mean, and why both Milgard and Annlin perform nearly identically in most real-world conditions.
🏡 Which One Should You Choose?
Both brands are excellent. The real question is: Which style do YOU prefer, and what fits your home's design best?
Hey guys, Sean with American Window
Concepts and today we're going to talk
about a couple of window brands that you
might know well. One would be Millgard,
the other one would be Annland. And I
want to talk about comparing these two
the right way and the performance data
and how to read into it. Let's get into
this.
So, you're window shopping and they're
seeing the Millg Guard and then they're
seeing the pricing of the Anland and
they're going, "Well, they're they're
pretty close in price. What makes one
better than the other?" And the answer
is is I don't think that one is better
than the other. It's going to be design,
right? U which design makes you feel
like I like that design better versus
Anland or Anlin over Millgard. Now the
cool thing about Milgard and Anland is
they both use Cardinal Glass. When you
look at these NF FRC stickers, okay,
you're going to be getting these when
the windows are installed in your house,
pulled off of a a Millgard uh patio
door. So here's what here's what we're
looking at. When you're looking at the U
factor, U factor, if you don't already
know, is the retention of warmth inside
your house, right? So, on a cold cold
day outside, that number, the lower is a
better thing for you. It's going to keep
that warmth inside. Part of that is
going to be the low coating and the
argon gas flooded on the inside of the
dual pane glass unit, and that's going
to keep it warmer inside your house.
When you look at these two, they're both
using the same glass. Low E366
cardinal glass U factor 29 and then for
the Millgard 29. Both windows are going
to perform pretty much the same in a
cold weather situation. Well, let's move
on over to the summertime. Super hot
outside and you want it to stay cool
inside. You look at the second number,
the solar heat gain coefficiency number.
The lower the number, the better. You
got a 0.21 for Annlin and a 0.21 for
Milgard. They're lining up equally. Now,
this can change if even with Milgard, if
you want to upgrade your glass packages,
you can do so. And you want to upgrade
your glass packages, you can do so. What
is best for your situation? Where do you
live? What is most concerning to you?
Uh, light infiltration. So, for
instance, the visible light
transmittance, the lower the number, the
darker the glass. 49 for Annlin and a 49
for Milgard. It's the same thing. So, if
you're looking at these windows, apples
to apples, you would think these things
are having a slugfest, right? Because
they're coming in at the same, but it
comes down to style, right? Do you like
the look of a Millgard or do you like
the look of an Annlin? And it's always
good to have whoever is coming to your
house or you going to a showroom to be
able to tell the difference. And they're
both going to come with a full lifetime
warranty. So, they're going to come in
very, very close. It's just what is
better for you. Okay. So, in closing,
both Annlin and Millgard are viable
options, right? They both have the
ability to package up their glass. Um,
it's just going to be what style of lock
do you like? Um, do you like one
exterior style of frame more than the
other? So, doing the homework and
finding out how this is going to look
after the windows go in, what's the
style of installation, you just want to
know the full detail, at least I would,
right, of how this is going to go. What
style of window and what upgraded
packages would you like to do because
this is where it starts. It goes up from
here. All right, guys. Make it a great
day. Before you click off this video, if
