I'm going to eat my way through the Hanoi city for the next 50 hours.
Hello!
My ultimate 50 hours food guide to Hanoi.
This is a brand new video wherein I'm gonna be trying
the iconic egg coffee to Michelin star fest.
From sizzling train street food to delicious night market bites.
I ate my way through Hanoi,
discovering sweet and savoury breakfast sometimes to hidden alleys.
I tried a lot of desserts, drinks and legendary eats, local swear by.
So if you're planning your next Vietnam trip,
this is your perfect guide to everything you must eat,
drink and experience in 50 delicious hours.
It's so hot, piping hot.
I'm loving it.
What can I say?
Indian food is Indian food.
Wherever in Vietnam, it's so humid and hot,
you have to start your any itinerary trip with ice cream or something chilled.
So I'm trying a yogurt ice cream.
Outside Nok Sun Temple.
It's an iconic spot.
There's a ground, a lake and a temple in the middle.
We'll go there but first ice cream.
Yogurt ice cream is a different flavour, it's nice.
Sweet and tangy.
It's so sunny.
We've come to a great place.
This is the price of the temple.
2 lakh Dong for admission for 4 days.
We're at this place.
If we go through this bridge, there's a temple here.
Wow, it's so sunny.
It's too hot here.
Oh, there's a waterfall in the middle.
This is basically the night market.
It'll be ready at night.
For now, we'll eat at a box here.
That sauce?
Sauce?
Sauce.
He's not at all interested in selling the food to me.
But it's okay, I still took it because I'm hungry.
Very tasty.
Grilled sausage, spicy powder sprinkled on top and a spicy sauce.
Good.
It's so hot here.
You'll get this umbrella outside.
Take this.
There's a fan in the umbrella.
Oh, fan.
We're done with our sightseeing.
Now we'll go for food.
First, we'll have coffee.
I'm not sleepy after drinking this coffee.
But I'm still going to give the next coffee a try because it was invented in Hanoi.
And that's special in Hanoi, which is egg coffee.
For now, let's go.
So, this is Cafe Dim, which is upstairs and downstairs as well.
They are the only family who introduced egg coffee in Hanoi.
And the family is still running this place.
Cafe Trunk is known as Egg Coffee.
By the way, you'll get egg coffee in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi.
But this is the first place and the original place.
I've ordered my egg coffee.
There's a balcony here.
You can click a photo from here.
You can see the lake from where we came.
The view is beautiful.
But yeah, I'm here to try the egg coffee.
So, let's go.
Oh, this is so pretty.
This is so cute.
This is the egg coffee.
You'll get egg coffee in both hot and cold.
You'll also get egg chocolate in hot and cold.
But I got egg coffee in cold because it's already too hot outside.
I cannot intake anything hot currently right now.
It's 36 degrees right now.
Can you believe it?
It's 4.30, 5 o'clock and 36 degrees is the temperature.
Well, this is definitely going to soothe me up.
So, you can see a very nice creamy eggy froth on top.
This is a sweet eggy froth like a creamy custard.
And there's coffee below.
So, how do you need to do?
First, I'll taste the coffee, egg coffee.
It's so nice, sweet, salty, creamy.
But the texture is just like york.
It's so good.
So, you sit comfortably like this and then just enjoy.
So, I think you need to mix this coffee.
It's worth visiting.
I don't know the effect of caffeine after it.
I don't know if I'll be able to sleep or not.
But its taste is what?
When you're sitting here and taking the first sip,
that moment of 2-3 seconds is like worth trying it.
I can even bear this heat for this coffee.
Okay, so when in Vietnam or Hanoi city,
you'll get this particular thing.
You have to sit in this tuk-tuk.
This is so, so, so cute and very, very nice.
Very cute, if I can actually show you.
Very cute tuk-tuk.
This is how it looks like, this tuk-tuk.
Now, for my next destination,
I've come to this Michelin star restaurant,
which is Chaka Thanglong,
to try a very unique dish,
which is a grilled fish kind of stuff,
which looks very good.
Looking at it, I really liked it.
With, you know, a lot of herbs and all.
Super excited.
But the interior of this place is so good.
So, for the next part,
I've come to this Michelin star restaurant, Chaka.
Now, to eat this dish, particularly known as Chaka,
which is basically an iconic Hanoi dish.
So, basically, this is made with fish,
which is sautéed with dill and spring onion.
And now, this fish,
I'll mention the name of this fish.
This dish, this Chaka,
in the name of the dish,
is so iconic.
And this was invented by the Doan family.
So, in the name of this dish,
in the old quarters of Hanoi,
there's already a dedicated street in the name of this dish.
So, I'm super excited to try this,
because this place has got Michelin star in 2023,
2024 and 2025.
So, the right way, he told us how to eat.
We've taken vermicelli rice,
we've taken rice noodles,
then you take the greens.
Okay, we have to take this later.
First, what they did,
he added a little bit of coriander.
Now, this is Vietnamese coriander.
Take a little bit of spring onion.
And this is, I think, basil also.
All kind of herbs he added.
After that, chilies.
He added the peanut.
And after that, he added spring onion and dill.
And on top of that, he added fish.
And on top of this,
they have fermented fish sauce.
So, this fish is marinated with turmeric,
fermented rice, shrimp paste,
and galangal.
Galangal juice.
After adding all this,
let's dig in.
I've never tried any dish like this.
I'll try the fish first.
I'm getting a very good taste of turmeric.
It's so good.
So well marinated.
It's tasting so good.
Okay, I'm eating with the right,
wrong chopstick, actually.
This is a cooking chopstick.
And with this herbs,
after eating this, I'm feeling very good.
It's oily.
However, the fish sauce that we drizzled from the top,
it's subtly light.
I mean, it's slightly oily,
but it's subtly light and flavourful.
This is a mix of herbs,
which has Vietnamese coriander.
This tastes very good.
Let me take more fish and the spring onion.
And because of the dill,
he added dill as well.
So, the freshness of the dill is very good.
This is a very nice dish.
Very tasty.
This was a combo set,
with which we also got a spring roll.
Vietnamese spring roll.
Let's try this.
And with this, he gives a dip.
Carrot, vinegar, and cucumber.
Well-stuffed fish spring roll.
There are only two items in their menu,
nothing else.
And yes, they also have fish head soup.
If you want, you can give that a try.
Delhi famous for this.
Fish spring roll, what is here?
Taste is so refreshing.
So, I had a great experience.
This entire cooking experience and the product,
the dish was very unique.
Even the taste was also very different to me.
I enjoyed it a lot.
If you ever come to Hanoi,
definitely give this dish a try.
If you eat fish.
Also, the total bill which I paid was 5,62,000 Vietnamese Dong,
which comes to 2,200 rupees.
Yeah, it was a lot of fun.
Okay, this is the famous train street.
My brother has come here to take a picture.
Yes, I came to see the train.
Everyone is standing in line here.
I don't know when the train will come.
Friends, the train has left.
If you want to see the train video,
go and see it on Instagram.
You will see it.
Here, we have taken a strawberry toast from this shop,
which we have finished drinking.
I had taken a chicken popcorn with some dip.
I don't know what is it.
It's saunaipa.
It's saunaipa, isn't it?
It's very tasty.
This is a veg spring roll.
It looks very tasty.
It's dry chicken.
It's veg.
It has rice inside.
It has corn, vegetables and rice.
It's radish.
Now, for the next spot,
I have come to the night market.
So, in the morning, we come here to drink egg coffee.
So, this is the night market at night.
And it's only open on weekends.
Monday to Friday, you won't get the market.
So, this night market is very different
than the night market we have covered in Thailand and all.
There are a lot of places to shop here.
There is a coffee culture.
People are chill here, sitting and enjoying.
And the weather is so good.
They are sipping on some coffee and drinks.
And there is a live concert going on.
More or less, the food is the same.
But I found one thing very different.
Which is the chocolate cheese cake.
Now, there is cheese cake.
There is chocolate cheese cake.
Now, the cheese cake is very different.
It's a savoury batter.
They had added cheese cubes and chocolate cubes in it.
And this looks very nice.
There is some print on it.
And there is an egg inside it.
It doesn't look like a 10-rupee coin.
So, yeah, this looks amazing.
Wow!
I love this.
This is so good.
Lovely.
I love this.
I think the most fascinating things
which I have found in Vietnam trip
is this dessert and the drinks.
The chocolate could have melted.
It's really good.
It's savoury on the outside.
But it's sweet and salty inside.
It's not salty because of the cheese.
It's mozzarella cheese.
So, there is no taste of mozzarella cheese as such.
But overall, it's fun to eat.
Very light snack.
It's the same as what people used to eat in the shopping mall.
Cheese cake.
Chocolate.
All three are mixed.
I thought they fried the cheese cake batter.
It's good.
I mean, it's okay.
So, I cannot tell you.
This is also a very positive shocker for me
to know about my personality
that in this night market,
I'm eating more of a sweet and dessert thing
rather than the meat and all
because there's too much meat up here.
So, yeah, I'm super excited to try this.
Bro, the weather.
In that weather, this ice cream is very important.
This won't do.
I'll have to eat it like this.
This is like a crunchy, fruity wafer.
It's so nice.
So, my wafer is good.
It's very good.
Very nice.
In this market, you get clothes, shoes,
everything for shopping.
I don't buy anything like clothes also
but you have to buy all these cups, mugs.
This is so cute.
So cute because 150 Vietnamese dong per cup.
Now, it's closing so he's giving us in 100 Vietnamese dong.
I'm not bargaining much.
But the cups are so cute and so Pinterest-y.
I bought four.
So, if you ever come, you can buy.
It's amazing.
Amazing.
So, at the end, you will get this very reasonable price
and amazing quality she has.
I bought two.
A Pikachu and a cutesy.
So, you can also buy it.
Okay, so in the night market, as I told you,
there's a lot of shopping stuff and all and everything.
So, at the end, I was craving for some Indian food.
Normally, whenever I'm travelling outside India,
I don't feel like or I don't plan to eat Indian food
because obviously, when in another country,
eat like a local of that local or eat the food of that country.
But I don't know why in Vietnam,
that I'm not able to eat much of that non-vegetarian food
because there's a lot of beef and all.
So, I was badly craving for Indian food.
So, I just suddenly bumped onto this place.
I don't know how the food is going to be.
I'm just hoping that the food is good.
Looking at it, the food looks good.
Let's see.
So, I've taken garlic naan and I've taken dal makhani.
Dal makhani looks really good.
Chicken tikka masala.
I think the chicken karahi is a little too much.
But it's okay.
Dal makhani looks impressive to me.
Indian food is Indian food.
Dal is so hot, piping hot.
But the taste, I would say, it's good.
A bit salty.
It should have been a little creamier.
But the garlic naan is very good.
In the salad, I thought there was a lot of salad.
Then I saw that there's a lot of lettuce at the bottom.
The onion is very good here.
And the best part, you know in Vietnam,
they eat a lot of calamansi as a lemon.
So, this is a very citrusy, orangish lemon which tastes good.
It is a very nice...
Let's try the chicken tikka masala.
This can be a good chicken gravy, but not the tikka masala.
But the butter naan is very good.
I really love the butter naan.
In Hanoi, you will get a lot of Indian restaurants.
A lot, a lot of Indian restaurants.
I thought I'll make an episode on Indian restaurants.
But then I was aware that the time was the shortest.
Sometime else, if I get a chance to come back, then I'll try.
But however, if you're coming here to shop in the night market,
then this place is good.
Because most of the restaurants are closed by 10 pm.
But this is open.
It's open right now, it's 11 pm.
It's open late at night.
So yeah, you can give this place a try.
They have a lot of options.
You can get dosa and all in the morning.
So yeah, I'm liking it now.
So we had lovely food.
How did you like the Indian food?
It was good, it was good.
The quality was good.
Our bill was 749 lakh Vietnamese dong.
Which is around 2,900-3,000.
The quantity was very good.
We got it packed, it's in a prachi room.
The quantity is very sufficient.
However, the food was not like the one.
But what else can you expect here?
So I will say this restaurant, you can try.
It's very good.
So I'm at this place called King Roti.
So there are two types of breakfast.
Which starts in the morning in Hanoi.
One is savoury breakfast, one is sweet breakfast.
In savoury, you can have porridge, pho and other dishes.
And while in the sweet side, you can try out this.
Coffee chocolate roti from King Roti.
It's very iconic.
It's very fluffy.
It looks very big.
But it's very soft and fluffy.
Yeah, it's very soft.
It's freshly baked in front of you.
She'll make it.
If I can actually show you the chocolate.
So this is coffee flavour.
With ghudi chocolate inside.
How much was it?
Rs. 20.
Rs. 80.
Rs. 20,000.
It's good.
The bun is very fluffy, very soft.
It's like a pillow.
Pillow soft.
And also the chocolate cream inside is very light.
There's no coffee flavour.
The bun will have coffee flavour inside.
It's good.
Okay, so the next iconic breakfast dish in Vietnam.
Which I'm trying is Banh Cuon Nong.
So basically, this is a rice roll.
As you saw outside, she was so pro at making this.
She was making a rice sheet roll.
She was steaming for, I think, half a minute.
And inside this, the stuffing are of pork and mushroom and onion.
See, this is how it looks.
This rice roll, basically, I would say shung phong.
If we speak in Chinese version, there's fried onion and garlic on top.
So how to eat?
This is the fish sauce or fish dip.
Whatever you call it as.
In this, you have to add calamansi.
Calamansi is the local lemon which you get here.
Everyone here gets this.
Squeeze on some calamansi juice.
Not much.
To make it spicy, you can add chillies.
Just adding the garlic water a little bit.
For taste enhancer.
On top of this, you drop in some black pepper.
If you want more spicy taste.
And anyways, you know, the spiciness of chillies and black pepper are both different.
Then there are some mixed herbs which has some Vietnamese coriander, basil and some local herbs.
If you want, you can add that as well.
For the soup, I'm not taking this one.
I'm taking one of this.
I'm taking the coriander.
And now simply take your roll.
Let's mix some fried onion and garlic with it.
And dip it into this sauce.
Soup.
Flavourful, warm packed soup.
And this is a very subtle and you know, glutinous rice roll.
Let's dig in.
This is so good.
This is so good, food fam.
This is so good.
You have to give this a try.
Wow, I love this.
I love this.
The crunch of the fried onion and garlic.
With that, when you add this soup, the moistness.
Such a blast of juicy, glutinous bite inside your mouth.
It's jiggly.
Most importantly, it's very light.
It's so hot outside.
This dip is everything you need to beat the heat.
Oh wow, what a rice cake.
This dip with this rice noodle roll is everything you need to beat the heat.
Most iconic dish which is normally available everywhere in India.
A dish which is Vietnamese Pho.
Now, it's very hard to find Vietnamese Pho.
Because everywhere you will get Pho Bo, which is beef Pho.
I don't eat beef Pho.
It was very hard for me to find a pork Pho or a chicken Pho.
Because I always go and eat at places which are iconic, legendary or street food.
But I can't find it in the street.
I searched a lot.
It's been 4-5 days of me in Vietnam.
But I couldn't find Pho.
Luckily, I've got this place nearby to my hotel in Hanoi.
And they serve amazing chicken Pho.
I've come after seeing a lot of reviews.
I'll just move this.
This is Mee Teh.
I don't want to eat.
This is liver, chicken liver.
So, this is basically the special Pho which we have taken.
A very nice, you know, poached chicken or chicken balls.
Which is an egg.
Chicken's egg.
Not fully grown.
Oh, egg.
A small egg.
And yes, this is the Pota, which is the dessert.
Chicken dessert.
There's spring onion and herbs on top.
Like the coriander and all.
And then there is this amazing silky smooth rice noodles.
Which is fab.
Because the slurp is very smooth with the rice noodles.
And there is amazing, classic, translucent, very brothy colour.
On which you can see a little bit of poached chicken oil floating on top of the soup.
This is the very classic steamy soup.
Now, let's first taste the soup.
The Pho that I've eaten in India, in a couple of places in Guinea.
This tastes completely different.
Opposite.
Tastes completely different.
It has a very nice, you know, poached chicken.
The skin of the chicken's oil.
It has a very nice taste.
It is a very greasy soup.
Like it's a greasy, comforting soup.
I like this.
If you want, you can add chillies to the condiments.
And you can also add some chilli sauce.
Add garlic water.
And salt, pepper, soya dip and everything.
What is this?
No, this is not soya sauce.
Salty.
Soya sauce.
Let's mix it.
It's salty.
It's nice.
Pho is incomplete without a squeeze of calamansi.
Squeeze on this.
So, all the seeds will come in this.
Taste of calamansi elevates the taste of the pho way more.
Alloyed little chilli paste.
So, this is the poached chicken with the beautiful skin.
Now it tastes good.
So, see, these are flat rice noodles.
Not the thin one.
It's so good.
The flavours are so good.
Very nice, very nice.
Let's try it with the chicken.
I told you, the soup is very greasy, steamy soup.
So nice.
Very nice.
So comforting.
All the food of Vietnam is so comforting.
It's so light on the palate.
The meal is perfectly balanced according to the weather.
The rice noodles here are very tasty to eat.
The packaged rice noodles we get in India taste very chewy.
This is not chewy.
This is perfectly bouncy and slurpy.
Texture is very deliciously chewy.
Not hard chewy.
It's very deliciously chewy.
I mean, the broth went so well in the soup that it tasted better than the noodles.
So, I had to tick 4.
I had to eat it, so I ate it.
And also, the one I ate, I ate it for 700.
So, in my journey so far, I would say that Vietnam is not cheap at all.
You have to be really calculative and wise.
And then pay money.
You will feel like that.
You hold it.
1 lakh means 390.
The exchange rate I got was 390.
1 lakh means 390.
So, you have to really think wisely.
Take a little pause and spend.
Don't take out the Vietnamese Dong like this.
So, the other thing which you have to try when in Hanoi is the old quarter market area.
Which is this Mixui.
I don't know the pronunciation.
Mixu, Mixui.
It's a brand famous for the ice cream and tea.
So, here I took a mango sundae which is so much needed.
Currently, in this heat.
So, basically, this is nothing but vanilla ice cream topped with some mango syrup or mango.
What do you call it?
Pulp.
Pulp, pulp.
That kind of.
They have made a lane in the name of Pho.
But, I am not getting Pho.
Chicken Pho.
Eat vegan Pho.
There is a place nearby where we ate chicken Pho.
Try the vegan Pho.
I think the vegan food is very good in Vietnam.
This is very good.
The ice cream is very smooth.
It's very tasty.
Now, the packaging of this place.
This is so cute.
This is Cafe Mocha.
Ice Cafe Mocha.
Oh, lovely.
Cafe Mocha with ice cream.
This is the best.
The best.
They have added jelly inside.
That black jelly.
And, it tastes so good.
Bitter, sweet.
The creaminess and sweetness of the ice cream.
Perfect blend.
It's a very soft, soft jelly.
And, the last dish for today's video.
I am going to be trying Ban Cha.
Which is a traditional Vietnamese dish.
This place where I have come.
This is one of the iconic spots.
Legendary food critics have been here.
This is a grilled pork patty.
And, it is served with a very flavourful broth.
And, some fresh vermicelli noodles.
And, a variety of herbs and vegetables.
And, I am eating it with the Vietnamese spring roll.
Let's try it.
I liked one thing about the food here.
They give you herbs in a very generous way.
They give you herbs.
Noodles with rice, with everything.
They eat herbs.
In grilling, in barbecue, in hot pot.
In everything.
These are the rice noodles I love.
Thin ones.
This grilled meat patty is so good.
How do I explain you?
You have to come here.
Eat by yourself.
These flavours are flavours which I have never eaten before.
And, they are very, very, very classy.
Very nice.
Simply comforting.
This soup has all the flavours.
Salty, sweet, savoury, tangy.
And, a little bit of spicy.
It's tasting so good.
You can dip it in this soup and eat it.
I love this.
There is a little bit of pork meat.
There is carrot, onion, black pepper.
It's so deliciously savoury.
And, when you are adding it with this soup.
Then, you know.
The taste becomes very elevated.
But, this is working as a very nice dip.
But, yeah.
Stalagmites are so nice.
And, inside, you know.
There is rice noodles too.
Look, the rice noodles are cooked very well.
There are rice noodles too.
And, this is not a plain spring roll sheet.
This is a rice paper spring roll sheet.
So, it's very crispy and flaky.
I think, this is one of the best spring rolls I have had.
There are mushrooms inside.
This is so good.
I love this.
