Ja Morant Is RUINING His NBA Career? Grizzlies Superstar Allegedly Punched 17 Year Old 12 times. This is why I think Ja Morant may be ruining his NBA career. #jamorant#memphisgrizzlies#nba
ON this channel I like to talk about money, and sometimes there is a story that comes across my path that makes me think of generational wealth and the things that some people do to ruin the possibility of generational wealth. This is one of them….
Ja Morant was the 2nd pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Last summer he signed a 5 year $192 Million rookie extension that pays him about $38M per year. So why is Ja getting into so much trouble off the court? Well his associates and friends are leading him down a bad path. Ja has not been charged with anything, but there are too many bad off court incidences to ignore.

Hey guys, on this channel I like to talk about money and sometimes every now and then there's
a story that comes across my path that makes me think of generational wealth and the things
that some people do to ruin the possibility of incredible generational wealth.
And this is one of those times.
My son sent me a story through text and I read it and immediately I started thinking
that perhaps John Morant could be not only ruining his NBA career, ruining his money
and his reputation, but ruining the possibility of generational wealth all over some bad choices
and some friends and associations, right?
So who is John Morant, right?
John Morant is a 23 year old young man from South Carolina.
He attended Murray State University in Kentucky.
Now, he wasn't a big name superstar college player.
He didn't come from a big name school and he really didn't get big and super popular
until about the end of his senior year in college.
And he ended up being the number two pick in the 2019 NBA draft.
He just last year signed a five year, $192 million rookie extension, right?
So he's paid, he's getting about $38 million per year.
And I think almost $40 million of his contract is guaranteed.
Now you may be asking yourself, well, why are we talking about John Morant?
Because there's been some recent allocations that last summer he had an incident at his
home with a 17 year old young man where he allegedly punched the young man.
But we'll talk about that in a minute.
I want to explain to you guys what's going on with the other three incidences that he
had to give you an idea of what I mean by could this guy be ruining his NBA career?
And it makes me question the sanity here, right?
So the very first incident I want to talk about is he had a buddy kicked out of a game
for arguing, arguing with Pacers players.
The guy that the other player on his team was kicked out of a game for arguing and taking
up for John Morant in an Indiana Pacers game where they played the Indiana Pacers earlier
this year, right?
And in the parking garage after the game, there was a report about lasers being pointed
at the Indiana Pacers bus.
Now this incident was where it was reported that Morant's group or his entourage of guys
that are around him was alleged to have aggressively confronted a member of the Pacers after a
game and later someone in Morant's SUV allegedly had pointed a red laser on some others.
There's some staffers of the Indiana Pacers as it drove by slowly.
Indiana Pacers security guard reportedly said that that's 100% a gun, the laser itself.
The incident also left one of the Indiana Pacers staffers feeling like or saying that
they felt they were in some grave danger.
Now the NBA later investigated that incident and the NBA ended up banning certain people
that were involved from attending some games at the Grizzlies Stadium.
But the NBA ultimately said it could not corroborate the threats with any type of weapons, so there
was nothing else done except banning a few of John Morant's friends from actually coming
to a game.
Now there was a second incident at a mall where John Morant and some of his friends
showed up at the Finish Line shoe store after his mom, John Morant's mom, got into a dispute
with one of the clerks at the store.
Security ended up being called and John Morant allegedly threatened one of the security guards.
The security director at the Wolfchase Galleria ended up filing a police report and he said
that he felt threatened by John Morant and his associates or his friends that were with
him that got called to the scene by John Morant's mom.
So the mom had a dispute, she got on the phone, called John and John came down to the mall
with his entourage, his buddies.
And so this incident happened almost six or eight months ago, right?
No arrests were made in that incident, but it's another incident involving John Morant
and his friends.
Now another incident, one of John Morant's friends and his entourage ended up getting
banned from the Memphis Grizzlies Arena later on just about three or four months ago.
Now I know this wasn't John Morant, but again, guys, you are your associations and when you
hang with the wrong crowd, John Morant, you begin to be associated with that crowd.
Now this final incident that just came out just a couple of days ago in the Washington
Post released the details of an incident where John Morant is accused of punching a 17 year
old teenagers several times in the head, 12 or 13 times in the head, and then later
leaving and coming back brandishing a gun.
Now this was just four days after the incident that took place in the mall that I mentioned
earlier, right?
And it was at John Morant's home.
Morant's agent refuted the findings and at the time, John Morant actually filed a police
report that he felt his family was threatened.
Now, what was claimed by the 17 year old young man is that John and John Morant's friend
punched him 12 or 13 times during a pickup basketball game at John Morant's house.
He claimed that John Morant and a friend hit him so hard, it left a large knot on the side
of his head, which police actually saw themselves and it ended up being in the report, the police
report.
So the teenager that John Morant allegedly hit also reportedly told the Shelby County
Sheriff's Department there in Memphis that right after the fight, Morant went into his
house and came back out with his hand on a gun that was visible in his waistband.
Now don't get me wrong, Morant is at home.
He can have a weapon at his home, maybe depending on the laws in Tennessee, but Morant reportedly
told police that he had been acting in self defense and he admitted, John Morant admitted
to the police that he swung first, but he believed that the 17 year old was being the
aggressor because he threw a ball at Morant's head and then stepped up to him.
So the boy, the young 17 year old, however, he allegedly said that he was just checking
the ball back and forth.
You know, when you play a pickup game, you pass the ball out to the person taking the
ball out of bounds, you check ball and you give it right back.
And they got into this match with the ball being thrown hard.
And that's when Morant confronted him, hit him.
And one other friend of John Morant started hitting the young man also.
Now this is at John Morant's home where he invited the 17 year old to actually have a
pickup game.
Now whether this was a crime or not a crime in any way, why was John Morant playing against
a teenage 17 year old kid in the first place?
That's the question you got to ask first.
Again, you just signed a $190 plus million contract.
Perhaps you don't need to be getting into a confrontation with a 17 year old.
Now here's my point, guys, John Morant.
Why?
What is the point of all of these incidences in the last six months, eight months, 10 months?
What's going on here?
Everybody just doesn't make up these stories out of nowhere.
If it happened once, okay, maybe somebody's trying to make it up for some clicks and likes.
If it happened twice, okay, I get it.
But we're talking about four separate incidences where you or your entourage was involved with
some type of aggressive behavior.
Whether it was your entourage showing up at the mall or the young man being struck at
the pickup game at your home, or your friends driving in a car that you were in the SUV
pointing a laser, perhaps a gun at someone on the Indiana Pacers staff, or one of your
friends getting kicked out and banned from the Memphis Grizzlies arena.
There's a pattern of poor behavior by John Morant and a pattern of poor behavior by his
associates, the people that he's around, his friends, his buddies.
Listen, the whole tough, this is what I would tell John Morant.
The whole tough, I'm tough culture, which is nothing new by the way, right?
That's not a new thing.
All right?
People act like that's new.
No, people have been trying to act tough for many, many years, right?
It's not the best route to go right now.
You've got too much ahead of you right now, John Morant.
As a young man, 23 year old young man, too much ahead of you to be hanging around the
wrong people, hanging around an entourage of people that are looking for trouble, brandishing
firearms, fighting.
Those things are not where you want to go.
John Morant, you could be the new face of the NBA.
Just got a signature shoe deal from Nike and you don't want to be portraying yourself to
be tough, hardcore because you're going to end up in some problems because when you associate
with the wrong people, you end up becoming a part of those people.
Whether you're like them or you're not like them, if you're around them, those things
get stuck on to you as well, right?
To me, in my opinion, John Morant, you need to associate yourself with a whole different
crowd of people.
Again, let me go with the numbers guys.
Just signed last year, $38, $39 million per year, right?
That's generation changing money if you do it right.
That means your fourth great grandchild can have capital and resources to do what they
want to do on the earth.
If you just play this right, right, and stay out of trouble, there's clauses in the contract
that you don't want to mess up.
Not to mention you got a whole career ahead of you, leave foolishness alone.
I just want to come on this quick video guys and say, listen, as a young man, you don't
want to ruin your career.
It's very important that you stay focused.
So guys, I'm hoping that John Morant understands what's at stake here.
Not just your reputation, not just potential criminal charges, not just potential problems
with the law, but generational wealth is at stake here as well.
I just want to point that out guys.
That's really all I want to say about this right here guys, is that I'm surprised that
the young man, maybe he has a mentor and he's not listening to a mentor, but when you get
opportunities to have generational money flow your way, you don't want to mess that up with
bad decision-making or hanging around the wrong people guys.
