Hey guys, Colin here from CHGadgets and this is the Mi 10T Pro 5G.
And after spending about 6 months with this phone, I'm going to tell you the 5 things
that really made an impression on me after I started using this.
But check this out, before we get into it, make sure you stick around until the end of
this video because I got something really important I got to ask.
Alright, let's jump straight into it.
By the way, stick with me here, I don't want to lose you because I got a few things
that I want to talk about.
Okay, so from the moment I took this out of the box, the first thing that made an impression
on me was the build quality and how premium it felt in the hands.
Now, truth to be told, I like the design but it's not one of my favorite designs.
But what I do like is the fact that it went with this matte satin textured finish on the
back of this lunar silver.
And it gives me almost the same smooth feeling as my Silver Frost Huawei P40 Pro to say the least.
As you can tell by now, if you're watching some of my other videos, I'm a sucker for
this type of finish on any smartphone.
Alright, so let's jump on the back of the elephant that is in the room.
And that is, yes, they're using a LCD display on this one instead of an OLED, which is kind
of ludicrous for a flagship smartphone these days.
And I for one personally was kind of taken aback when I heard that they were going with
LCD on this one instead of an OLED.
But I have to say, I take it back, cause this is probably one of the best looking LCD displays
that I've seen on a smartphone yet.
And probably one of the fastest too at 144Hz.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it can replace an OLED display, no no, not that.
But it still looks really nice, even though it only has a pixel density of 395 and it
only peaks at 650 nits, they still managed to do something really special with it that
I think is worth talking about.
So inside this 6.7 inch 144Hz HDR10 Plus LCD display, Xiaomi introduced a technology that
they call Smart Adaptive Sync Display.
And basically, in a nutshell, what this means is they have created an LCD display that can
adjust itself automatically to whatever content you're viewing.
Similar to what Samsung is now doing with their S21 Ultra devices.
So even though this phone has a really large 5000mAh battery, with this new adaptive sync
technology, it means that you will get a much better battery performance out of this thing
and only use it at 144Hz when it's absolutely needed.
It is a really beautiful display to watch content on, even though it's an LCD panel
and in an era where OLED and AMOLED panel displays are all the craze.
Also, one of the coolest things about this smartphone is the really loud stereo speakers,
which should keep you immersed in whatever content you're watching or even if you're
playing a game.
Now, the speakers on this is not the loudest that I've ever heard.
As a matter of fact, my LG V60 is much louder and fuller while watching any kind of content.
But I do think that the speakers on this are adequate enough to keep you entertained.
Okay, while we're on the subject of battery, let's talk about the massive 5000mAh battery
inside the Mi 10T Pro.
Now since I took this thing out of the box, I've been playing a lot of Genshin Impact,
which is also a really good game if you want to test the performance of almost any smartphone.
But we'll get into more on overall performance later.
But on average, you can expect anywhere from about 6-7 hours of screen on time and on those
good days, depending on the apps that you're using, 8-10 hours.
But your mileage may vary since we all have different usage habits anyways.
Now as I mentioned, I've been hooked on Genshin Impact lately and the Wild Adventures take
a lot of time and resource to explore and this phone has been taking the hammer the
entire time and this bad boy performs like a champ through all of it and I've yet to
experience any lag, freeze, or stutter while using the phone or playing any games.
Plus, regular daily use has been a breeze and the UI elements and animations are really
fluid.
Almost comparable to my OnePlus 8 in its smoothness and snappy response.
It's not as clean, but it's getting there and the haptic feedback also play a huge part
in the overall feel of how this phone.
Like I said, it's almost comparable to my OnePlus 8 because the haptic feedback on that
one is probably one of the better ones out of 2020.
This comparison was inevitable.
Alright, so this phone has a really interesting camera lineup with a 108MP main camera that
takes really boss photos, both indoors and outdoors, especially during the daytime.
And in fair lighting conditions, the photos have really accurate exposure most of the
time with reasonable dynamic range and nicely balanced colors, which makes photos look really
sharp and vibrant without being too saturated.
However, you may lose some of that detail and sharpness along with some of that dynamic
range in low lighting conditions, but the camera still tries to give you a relatively
good shot and you won't miss the moment.
On the other hand, this camera system doesn't have a dedicated telephoto camera, but you
can zoom all the way up to 30x from the main sensor.
And since this is not an optical zoom and only a crop in on the main sensor, the image
might take a serious quality hit because of that.
And that is to be expected, but still, it's really cool that you can zoom all the way
up to 30x on this thing.
With some proper framing and composition, in other words, close enough to your subject,
portrait shots come out looking really good, with subjects sometimes perfectly separated
from the background.
However, I did notice that if your shots are not composed properly, especially in some
challenging lighting conditions, you may have mixed results.
So, the 13MP ultrawide camera has a 123 degree field of view, which might not be as wide
as some of Samsung's flagship phones, but it still managed to get a lot more into the
frame and even though the photos may not be as sharp as the main camera, they still managed
to look naturally balanced and would be perfect for any social media post.
Now, as for the 5MP macro lens, it comes down to a game of balance, which means you have
to give the subject balanced lighting and you have to balance your distance between
the camera magnification and the subject.
And if you get all of those right, then you might have some good results.
The 20MP selfie camera is a real crowd pleaser for most average people using this to deliver
some really good results with some decent background separation and will give you the
perfect shot for portraits for any social media post.
So yeah, I can't say I didn't enjoy my time using this smartphone because it's been an
almost flagship experience since I took it out of the box and even though it has a few
material, different material choices and components and a few quirks, it still managed to come
together and deliver a really great experience where it matters most.
And by the way, if you want one of these for yourself, I think right now you can pick it
up on discount for about $600.
Maybe if you look around, you can get it for about $550, maybe less, but I'm definitely
sure you can probably pick one up anywhere between $600 to about $550 if you kind of
search around on the internet.
But I'm definitely going to leave some links down in the description where you can find
us some really good deals.
