Final interviews for a position that you are applying for is definitely nerve-wracking.
I'm sure that you are always nervous coming into your final interview.
Same goes for a lot of applicants who are trying to apply here in Athena and become
an executive virtual assistant. And that's why I am creating this video to, you know,
give you tips on how to ace your final interview or live interview in Athena.
You can also use these tips if you're applying for a different company, not just in Athena.
You might be applying for a direct client, or you're applying in a different agency,
or you're applying for a corporate position and not a remote work position.
This actually applies for any type of final interview or live interview.
Hi guys, my name is Mia and I'm an operations manager here in Athena,
handling a team of executive virtual assistants.
As an operations manager, I also conduct live interviews or final trainings of applicants
applying for the executive virtual assistant role.
I myself was an executive virtual assistant here in Athena for two years
prior to me being promoted as an operations manager.
The three tips that I have for you today to ace your live interview are very, very,
important because these are the things that I personally am really looking to hear.
And these are the parts of the interview where it's really, really very important to ace it,
because this is where we really gauge your capability, your skills, your executive presence.
So make sure that you listen carefully to these three tips so that you can review,
prepare and practice and ace that interview and start becoming an executive virtual assistant
or any type of position that you are applying for.
Because like I mentioned, these tips are applicable
to all types of companies and to any type of live or final interview.
So let's start off with the first one, which is to make sure that you provide detailed answers.
When I say detailed answers, never, never generalize it.
Like, for example, when they ask you, what were you doing as a call center agent?
You're going to answer that I answer phone calls.
We were handling a technical account.
I was answering calls from the morning till night.
And then it's just that when you're trying to answer,
I'm sure most of us will be coming in from the call center industry.
Try to be as detailed as possible.
You can answer in terms of, as a call center agent, the KPIs that we are trying to reach
on a weekly or a monthly basis is our AHT or average handling time.
We also make sure that our quality of calls are always followed,
wherein we have to make sure that we have good English communication skills.
We are able to resolve concerns easily in a span of one to two minutes,
especially as a technical support officer.
I have to make sure that I am able to troubleshoot my clients' issues.
And then we use a CRM or a tool wherein we submit reports every after each call.
So when we complete a call, we take down notes of what we've done
from the onset of the call up until the end.
We also list down all of the steps that we took if we had to troubleshoot any issues of the client.
When I say detailed, that's how detailed you should go.
So make sure that you already prepare a list of things that you are doing
previously as a whatever position you had.
Make sure to also highlight all of the KPIs and goals and targets that you have
and already explain how you try to reach those goals,
so that your interviewer can already have an idea of what your skills are and what your strengths are.
Other questions that would require detailed answers are scenario-based questions.
Sample questions is, can you talk about an instance wherein there was an issue
that you had to resolve in your previous work experience?
What are the steps that you took? What is the issue? And how did you resolve that issue?
Make sure that you use the STAR method when answering these type of scenario-based questions,
wherein you have the scenario, the task that you did,
the action plan that you took, and the results from the action plan that you created.
So make sure that you already have different sample scenarios,
from highlighting your strengths, getting over a challenge,
probably scenarios wherein you had to work with a difficult client or a difficult supervisor,
and all of those things.
Already jot down all of the scenarios in a STAR method pattern,
or you're going to write it down when you have STAR,
so that once they ask you about any type of sample scenario,
usually their questions will be generalized,
or talk about a challenge in a company that you can remember and how you overcame that challenge.
That's how general the questions would be,
but your answers should be as detailed as possible.
If you can remember what you're wearing,
the face of whoever you are dealing with, you can share those things.
Just make sure that you are as detailed as can be.
Never, ever generalize your answers when it comes to your application or your job interview.
A way to find out that your answers are detailed
is when the interviewer no longer has follow-up questions.
So make sure that you try to answer everything already during the first question
to avoid your interviewer asking clarification or follow-up questions.
Next tip that's very important is you have to make sure that
you research about the role that you are applying for.
Don't just rely on the job description that you read in the job post,
because it's already there.
It's already obvious that you already know about the job description.
You have to be able to discuss about the role in a deeper level,
or how you feel based on your understanding of the job description
and based on the research that you did about the role,
you are able to provide what your understanding of the role is.
So right now, if you are applying for a VA role,
an executive virtual assistant role, or any type of role you're applying for,
already create a list of how you understand that specific role.
When we say how you understand, what are the skills required for the role?
How do you understand the role?
When I answered this question during my interview in Athena,
when I was applying for the executive assistant role,
I did my research.
I did a lot of research, and you should also do a lot of research.
And make sure that when you do your research,
you use the official social media profiles
or websites of the company that you are applying for.
Now, going back, when I was asked what I think an executive virtual assistant is,
I answered like this.
I can clearly remember it, guys,
because it's something that I was really, really very proud of.
So I answered like this.
When I was researching about the role of an executive virtual assistant,
I was checking out all of the videos that you had on your Facebook page.
And one of the videos that really stood out to me
was the video of an interview of the co-founder.
I think her name is Beth Villion.
She mentioned during that video, or she was asked
how she's going to describe the role of an executive virtual assistant.
She said in that video that an executive virtual assistant
is like the Pepper Potts to the Tony Starks.
So I remember that from the movie, since I love watching.
I love Marvel movies, specifically Iron Man.
I had an idea of what Pepper Potts is doing for Tony Stark.
She also mentioned after saying that we are the Pepper Potts to the Tony Starks,
she meant that we are creating superheroes.
I do anything and everything that Mr. Stark requires,
including occasionally taking out the trash.
Will that be all?
She is from legal, and she is potentially a very expensive
sexual harassment lawsuit if you keep ogling her like that.
I don't have time to meet.
I need someone now.
I feel like it's her.
No, it's not.
But I could fire you if I had to take the edge off.
I don't, I actually don't think that you could tie your shoes without me.
I'd make it a week.
Really?
What's your social security number?
Five.
Thanks.
Right.
You're missing just a couple of digits.
So as an executive virtual assistant,
we are actually helping our clients to become superheroes in their professional or personal
lives.
Probably they want to have more time with their family.
So we make sure that we make more time for them to have more time for their family.
How are we going to do that?
We take in more tasks to ourselves.
We are able to identify what tasks we can do for our clients so that they can focus on
more important things.
In turn, they become superhumans.
That's how you answer that question.
Make sure that you make an impact in answering that question so that they would know, or
your interviewer would have an idea that you really have a deeper and better understanding
of the role that you are applying for.
It will also show the amount of research that you did to understand the role, understanding
the role, especially of an executive virtual assistant, which is very, very new in the
career field or in the industry is very crucial, especially if you are applying for this position
and you don't have prior experience as an executive VA.
You have to be able to show your interviewer that you understand the role.
You know what to do.
You know what is expected from an executive VA.
Because as an executive virtual assistant, you usually work independently and you work
remotely.
So you have to be able to let the interviewer know that they can trust you, they can train
you for six weeks, and then they can match you with a client and you already have an
idea of what you are going to do for your client.
Because here, we don't micromanage.
So you have to make sure that you can work independently.
Knowing the role also and understanding the role on a deeper level shows your executive
presence because you did your research and you made sure that you understand the role.
That's why you are applying for it.
Because since you understand the role, you know that you are qualified and that's why
you're here and that's why you reached the live interview.
Now that you've researched about the role, you should also research about the company.
It's not enough that you just research about the role.
It's very, very important that the amount of research that you did for the role that
you are applying for is the same amount of research that you did to get to know the company.
When we talk about researching about the company, don't just focus on the benefits.
Focus on the culture, focus on the community, focus on the values, the vision, the mission
of the company.
Because the company is not just about the benefits.
Of course, what's going to attract us to join the company are the benefits and that's given.
The company and the interviewer already knows that you are here because you were attracted
with the benefits and the offer that they are giving.
But they would also like to know your staying power.
Why are you here or what attracted you to apply aside from the benefits?
Answering this question with details about the research that you did, probably you research
via their LinkedIn page or check out Indeed for employee reviews, shows that you are
committed to getting to know the company.
And when you are committed to getting to know the company, it shows that you are here for
the long run.
And it's very important because a company invests in you as an employee.
So when they invest in you, they want to make sure that you are here for a very long time
so that they have a return of investment.
So make sure that you are able to show that.
And one of the ways for you to be able to show that you are here for the long run and
they will get a return after they invest in you is making sure that you know what the
company is, who the company is or what the company stands for.
And those are the three most important tips that I have for you.
If you want to ace your final interview or your live interview here in Athena or in any
