What do I care, how much it may storm, I've got my love to keep me warm.
Hi, I'm Brad.
I'm John.
Well, it's that kind of ho-ho-ho time, which means at some point in time you have to hit Pentatonix up.
Yep.
And luckily they went ahead and released something new-ish, but isn't.
Yes.
It's animated too.
Oh.
Okay.
Probably a fairly good reason why.
Get to that part.
Because they've done a duet.
How can a...
That's an interesting thought.
So they've done a duet with Frank Sinatra.
Yeah.
I wonder how they've done that too.
Yeah, that's...
That might be where that other part comes in.
Yeah, the animated part.
Yeah.
That's the reason behind that one.
Musically it's not that hard because, believe it or not, there are one or two vocal recordings of Frank Sinatra lying around.
Yeah.
So obviously they've used one of them in this case.
The song is, rather specifically, I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm.
Okay.
I may know it or I may not.
You probably do know it.
I would assume I probably do, but...
Well, it's a popular song which was first copyrighted back in 1937 by its composer Irving Berlin.
It was actually recorded that year and even popped up in a film musical called On the Avenue.
So that was back in 1937.
As I said, it's not strictly a Christmas song.
Right.
The lyrics meant no mention of Christmas at all.
But it's become standard on a lot of Christmas albums and has been recorded by a couple of people.
Including, well in America anyway, Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, Dean Martin, Bette Midler, Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart.
The list just kind of goes on of people who actually recorded this as a Christmas song, even though it's not technically a Christmas song.
Apparently it is now.
It may not have started out as one.
It has been corrupted into a Christmas song.
So this time Pentatonix hired some animators and they hired Frank Sinatra.
And that one involved a shovel.
And it's a state.
Or a record label, I mean.
Probably the record label, let's be honest.
I mean, I guess it does kind of fit nicely with Halloween just passed.
Anyway.
In honor of Halloween, we've got Frank Sinatras.
That would have been one for Jeff when he was doing the ghost.
Oh, yes.
Anyway.
Yeah, anyway.
Let's check it out before we do. Make sure you hit that like and subscribe.
Check out the description down below. You're going to find all the links and information and stuff down there.
Plus, if you check out the store, they offer some shirts in it now.
Yep.
I think. Yes.
They actually have to go to the store website.
Yes, you have to go to the store website because...
It's not linked.
The store is linked on the YouTube, but not the actual products.
Yeah.
Somehow that works.
It just helps support our channel.
Yes.
Right.
This is another short one, by the way.
Because, you know, 1937.
For some reason, the songs weren't long.
Yeah.
Recording media limitations, mostly.
Wind is blowing.
I can weather the storm.
What do I care?
How much it may storm.
Got my love to keep me warm.
I can't remember the worst December.
Just watch those icicles form.
What do I care?
Icicles form.
Got my love to keep me warm.
Off with my overcoat.
Off with my glove.
Who needs an overcoat?
I'm burning with love.
My heart's on fire.
Icicles for YouTube.
Gingerbread.
Yep.
We've got Little Gingerbread Pentatonix.
Honestly, I don't think I know this song.
Really?
Yeah.
Strangely enough, I do.
And strangely enough, I, as mentioned, know it as a Christmas song.
Well, it's obviously a winter song.
Yeah.
Given the context.
Yeah.
Winterish, but not specifically Christmas.
Yeah.
Just, like I said, been corrupted into a Christmas song.
And commercialized.
It is commercialized.
But yeah, so far we've had Gingerbread.
Now, I think I saw ornament versions of them as well.
Painted baubles.
No, I noticed that.
I noticed him in an ornament, but I didn't notice that.
I thought I noticed them on an ornament.
I might have noticed that from when I was spitting the video, so that could have been elsewhere in it.
But I thought I saw that.
But I like the, you know, instead of the normal kind of music video kind of feel,
I like, given that it's a Christmas song, I like the whimsy of it being animated.
Yeah.
Now, are they singing this a cappella?
You know, I'm not sure.
I've got a feeling, no, I think they're singing backup.
Yeah.
So, yeah, I guess this actually isn't a a cappella version.
Correct us if we're wrong.
I wouldn't think so, but I don't know, some of these other reactions.
It's got too much big band sound.
Yeah.
I will weather the storm.
What do I care how much it may storm?
Got my love to keep me warm.
To keep me warm.
My heart's on fire.
And fire gets higher.
I will weather the storm.
What do I care how much it may storm?
I got my love to keep me warm.
Yeah, there's no way that was a cappella.
No.
It's like, I wasn't really paying attention to it, the first part.
And then it was like, when I said it, it was like, yeah.
Yeah.
I didn't even notice that when I actually grabbed it or anything.
I didn't notice that it didn't say a cappella on it.
Yeah.
Which on its own is kind of a rarity.
Yeah.
I was too focused on the animation of it and stuff.
Yeah, wait, did that not perform anything at all?
Yeah.
Well, they were singing a cappella.
There just happened to be some instruments playing in the background as well.
Yeah.
Yeah, that was good.
I liked that.
Yeah, I liked that.
It's a fun little throwback to one of the, let's face it, we're old enough,
one of the singers that we grew up with around Christmas time.
Because you grew up with Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra and
Dean Martin.
Right.
All the crooners doing Christmas songs.
See, we were lucky.
Next generation along, they got stuck with Mariah Carey.
But we grew up with it because that was just what was on the TV shows
and in the stores and stuff.
Because that's what our parents and grandparents, you know.
True.
Because we did have, you know, Twisted Sister Christmas.
Yes, Twisted Sister did some Christmas stuff.
Sleigh.
There was a bunch of them.
Wow.
But yeah, we were able to hear it and stuff, opposed to the other people
listening to Mariah.
And she's definitely going to be defrosted here in a couple days.
If she isn't already.
But yeah, this is a lot of the kind of music that I grew up with as a kid.
Around this time of year.
Oh, yeah.
And still to this day, I don't tend to think so much of the rock
Christmas songs as Christmas songs.
I mean, they are.
When I think of Christmas music, I tend to think of either carols
or stuff like this.
Right.
Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby singing White Christmas,
that kind of thing.
So I think it's really nice that Pentatonix got together and did
throw back to what so much of us grew up with, basically.
Yeah.
I like that.
That was fun.
We haven't done Pentatonix in a long while.
So that was good.
And I was feeling different.
It was quite fun to do their Christmas song they released
at the beginning of October.
We might hit it up before Christmas, but seriously.
We should.
October 1st is a terrible time to release a Christmas.
Actually, no.
I think it was still in September.
That was a while ago.
It's a miserable time.
It seemed a little too early to get us to this time already.
They were advertising their new album, which is out.
Well, hey, you've got to do it.
And you probably want it out before Christmas anyway.
Well, yeah.
Well, obviously, we're going to continue reacting to them.
Hopefully, we won't take as long in between times.
