Hey there, everyone.
My name is Jenna.
Welcome or welcome back to the channel.
In today's video, we are going to be heading out to thrift our holiday decor because when
you collect vintage decor, it really helps your space to feel cozy and collected, helps
it to feel layered and really elevated for the holiday season.
So I'm going to take you guys through some thrift stores with me and point out some items
and give you guys styling tips and decorating ideas with what we see in the store.
And then we'll come back home and I'll show you guys a little haul of everything that
I found for my space and how I'm planning to style it.
So I hope you all enjoy it.
And without further ado, let's go thrifting.
Okay.
So here we are at the thrift store and I love going through the seasonal section, but a
lot of times I find really great holiday decor in the regular decor aisles like this woven
log holder.
And I love the natural warmth that woven decor can add to a space.
And this guy was only $7.50.
And for the holidays, I like to layer decor in front of my fireplace for a more cozy feel.
So this would be a perfect piece to do that with.
You could just throw in some firewood or birch logs and a couple of evergreen stems for a
cozy styled look.
Another woven piece that I spotted was this vintage sleigh and I loved the combination
of the woven material and the iron.
It was only $5.50.
And I actually recently saw a similar one at the antique mall for 60 bucks.
So this was such a steal and I thought the lines on the sled were really beautiful and
almost European looking and it would just be a fun decor piece to fill with some ornaments
and some greenery and pop it on somewhere like a shelf or a table.
I actually saw a bunch of sleds at a couple of different thrift stores and the woven one
was the best one in my opinion, but I saw a lot of ones that look like this that didn't
necessarily match my holiday decorating style, but it would actually be kind of pretty maybe
with a coat of black spray paint to look like iron.
And something else that I loved were these red ribbon glasses and the tall ones were
$3.55 and these actually look just like the ones that they sell at Pottery Barn, usually
for $12 each, but right now they're on sale for like eight bucks each.
And I love that these are festive, but they still look really classy and that they're
made out of hand blown recycled glass and they kind of look like a candy cane, which
is fun.
Something else that I love to decorate with during the holidays is beaded fruit decor.
Don't ask me why, I think I just love that it kind of has a glitzy snowy look to it.
And these guys were only $3.50 and I actually have some similar ones that I love to style
in a bowl with a little sprig of greenery for a pop of that pretty red color.
I also spotted this beautiful chunky knit stocking for $9.50 and I love using chunky
cable knit stockings.
I think that they just give off such a cozy texture.
And speaking of texture, I also spotted these fun red waffle ones and these could be pretty
if you like a pop of that bright red or you could even mix the waffle red ones with the
chunky knit cream ones.
I think that would be a really pretty combination too.
And something else that I'm always scanning for when it comes to holiday decorating are
classy figural accents.
And I loved how simple and sweet this little silver angel was and these are great for layering
with other seasonal pieces or just simply popping next to decor that you already have
to make it feel a little bit more festive.
And I thought this crystal ice bucket would be so perfect for holiday entertaining because
it's clear so you could add some cranberries to the ice to chill your sparkling apple crayon
juice or holiday beverage.
And I've talked a lot on my channel about collecting thrifted vintage crocs like this
one to use as decorative pots for little burlap trees for a more rustic look for the holidays.
And this sugar one would be so cute styled on a kitchen countertop.
And one Goodwill that I went to had so many tree skirts.
A lot of them still had the tags on them so I don't know if maybe they were last season's
items that didn't sell or what but a lot of them were from TJ Maxx and Marshalls and they
were all $25 and under.
And I really liked this velvety chunky one.
I like how it gave off that hand knit look and I am personally a big fan of hand knit
texture underneath my tree.
It just gives off a really cozy vibe and also allows the tree to kind of be the main focus
while still adding that texture and visual interest.
Same thing with this faux fur one.
I love how soft it looks and that it kind of resembles snow.
And this one was only $20 and reminds me a lot of the one that they sell at Pottery Barn
for $150.
And another one that I liked was this brown embroidered one that totally gave off gingerbread
vibes and this would be so cute to do a little gingerbread themed tree with.
I also love to look through the vintage holiday dishware and I spotted this little tree tray
that would be so sweet for like a little jewelry holder or even as a tray to drop keys in on
a console table.
Just something kind of festive to mix in with some season neutral pieces that you may already
have.
And I love to collect amber glass for the holidays.
It just looks so beautiful paired with evergreen stems and it's also nice for the fall as well
but I really love the idea of collecting a bunch of different amber glass bottles with
different shapes and heights and then lining them along a tablescape and filling them with
stems for a cheap and easy rustic setting that still feels really classy and timeless.
Okay, so now we're back home from the thrift stores and it's time for a little haul and
showing you guys how I'm going to style everything.
So the first thing that I picked up was this stunning handmade bowl.
Now this was handmade, it has the signature on the bottom and you can kind of just tell
a lot of times with handmade ceramics it's a lot thicker than like the thin ones that
are made out of a mold.
A definitive way to know is if it has a signature on the bottom like this one does and what
I really love about this piece is that it looks super old world and just kind of has
that European feel to it.
I love the edged detail, how that looks to be like hand carved and how the glaze was
kind of painted on here in a way where it adds dimension and depth but it still looks
really simple and rustic.
So this guy was only $5 and I actually did find this at the antique mall but I felt like
that was like a thrift store price especially for a bowl that's this beautiful and I love
to have bowls like this on hand for serving, you know serving desserts, breads, dips, things
like that.
And something that comes to mind that I'm really excited to use this for is my Wild
Grain products.
And a big thank you goes out to Wild Grain for sponsoring today's video.
Wild Grain is the first baked from frozen subscription box for things like sourdough
breads, artisanal pastries, and pastas.
And having my Wild Grain box has changed my holiday baking in the best way.
I feel like every single year I have all of these intentions to set time aside and bake
seasonal treats and if I'm being honest I never really get around to doing that because
the holiday season just gets so crazy and I hardly ever have time to research the recipes,
shop for the ingredients, and then have to clean a bunch of dishes afterwards.
So I love that now I'm able to take those little moments to celebrate the season by
baking really delicious treats with no mess.
And everything bakes in 25 minutes or less so it makes it really easy to just enjoy a
warm treat when the craving hits, which is very often during the holiday season.
These are also great for gifts, last minute guests, or just something super easy and impressive
to bring to a holiday party.
You can customize your box with your favorite items and this is a game changer if you're
hosting for the holidays this year.
And probably my all-time favorite treat is the Giant Ginger Molasses Cookie.
It literally tastes like a holiday hug and the cookie is soft, chewy, and it's topped
with this crystallized ginger for the perfect balance of flavors.
It is seriously so good and I love enjoying mine with my coffee in the morning or with
some tea in the afternoon as a little treat.
And in addition to the convenience, I really love that Wild Grain supports small bakeries
and is responsibly sourced.
And with each box that you order, you can donate two meals to a non-profit of your choice
at no extra cost.
So if you want to try Wild Grain for yourself and snag some of the delicious seasonal items
before they sell out, be sure to click the link below in the description box and use
code JENNAPEARCE for $30 off your first box plus free croissants for life.
Again, a big thank you goes out to Wild Grain for sponsoring today's video and I hope you
guys enjoy it as much as we do.
Okay, so next, something that I always keep an eye out for are just those staple figural
pieces that I can layer in with my decor that I already have out year round.
That makes things feel a little bit more festive and true to the season, but I don't have to
swap up all of my decor.
I can kind of just place those items throughout my home and it accents the decor pieces that
I already have to make it feel a little bit more festive and Christmas-like.
So an item that I found that's perfect for that is this pine cone wax candle.
Now this guy was $5.49 and this is actually from Crate and Barrel.
So actually from a designer store, never been used, still in the packaging, which is awesome.
I believe that they actually had two there at the time and maybe I should have bought
both, but I figured if I was using it just as an accent piece, I'd only need one.
And I like that it has kind of like a substantial size to it.
It has a natural texture, it kind of fits in with my neutral woodsy organic color scheme
for the holidays and like you're bringing the outdoors inside, but it still has texture
and interest.
So it feels kind of like festive and true to the season at the same time.
So just a pretty figural piece that can be placed anywhere, like on a shelf, on a coffee
table, console table, mantle, can be used as part of a dining table.
You could even use this on a kitchen or bathroom countertop.
Just really fun and simple and a great price at five bucks.
Okay, so the next thing that I scored was this really beautiful set of these ticking
stripe ribbon ornaments.
Now this guy was $4.50 for a set of six, which is a really good deal.
And what I'm going to use these for is just a simple bowl filler.
I really like that these are wrapped with this kind of like beautiful ticking stripe
frayed ribbon.
I feel like that adds a really pretty simple detail that almost looks a little bit European
with that ticking stripe and kind of resembles those ticking stripe, linen sackcloth, pillowcases,
that kind of thing.
One of my super simple go-to holiday hacks for decorating is just to use ornaments as
bowl filler.
There are so many different kinds of ornaments, you know, you can make it more glitzy with
some sparkle.
You can make it more old world and stressed with like a rusty ornament.
You can make it more soft and feminine like this ticking stripe one.
So it's just kind of a fun way to decorate for the holidays and make it feel intentional
and styled, but super affordable.
I also love the ribbon and how that's more of like a softer detail.
So it kind of helps to soften the space a little bit and just add a pretty punch of
kind of like fabric and pattern, especially with that frayed edge on the ribbon.
I think that's really beautiful too.
So another thing that I always do when I'm using the ornaments is I usually try to layer
it with some sort of greenery just to soften it a little bit, make it feel a little bit
more woodsy and natural and add something else in there for that visual interest.
Okay, so this next piece was so adorable and unexpected and it is this little hand carved
wooden shoe and this guy was only $2.50.
So this does have like a little hole here and I have found similar pieces online that
are sold as a set and then they have a little ribbon tying both of the shoes together.
So I thought I could use this for so many different things.
I thought that I could use this as a really beautiful kind of like a rustic style ornament.
I also thought it'd be pretty just to put some greenery in here and use it as a little
accent piece.
And I love how the finish on here is kind of just like this old world patina wood.
I think that that looks really beautiful and rustic and you can totally tell that these
were carved by hand, which I think is so neat.
I could also tie this in maybe with some bells on like a little swag or something.
So just kind of a fun rustic piece to tie in with my holiday decorating and gives it
that like old European feel that I love so much.
I also did read that in some European countries, kids would actually put their shoes out.
Like you know how here we put stockings out, kids would put their shoes out for St. Nick
to leave the gifts in the shoes and around the shoes.
So you guys will have to let me know, is that something that you guys do over in Europe?
I read that it's a big thing in France.
So is that still a thing or is that kind of an older tradition?
I thought that was kind of cool at least that there was, you know, a Christmas tradition
tied in with the shoes.
So yeah, just kind of a really unique piece that's special and different and has that
old world feel to it that I love to incorporate into my space for the holidays.
Okay, so next we have two really beautiful thrifted items that I'm going to actually
style together.
So the first one is this really beautiful kind of like pedestal hurricane vase, I guess.
You could really use this as a vase or like a candle holder.
This guy was $4.50 and I've seen very similar glass and woven candle holders online for
anywhere to like $80 to over $100.
So to me, this has a very high end look.
It reminds me of something that you'd see at like Pottery Barn or Serena and Lily.
And I love the simple curved silhouette of this and also how the glass has a slightly
kind of like blue teal tint to it.
I personally love that because it looks like that recycled glass that I love so much.
So I thought this was a really beautiful piece and this is going to be perfect for the holidays
because I feel like that's kind of when you want to add that really nice glow to your
space and just add in a bunch of candles and make the space feel like really warm and decorated.
So this will be perfect for the holidays, but I can also use it year round, which is
great.
And then to go with it, I got this really pretty giant pillar candle.
Now this guy was $4.50, so I'm going to put the candle inside of the hurricane holder
and then I'm just going to layer it with some of my beaded cranberry bowl filler.
And I just got this at the craft store.
It was super affordable, but I love that it has that little punch of like glitzy color
and it kind of looks snowy and woodsy and natural at the same time.
So I think that's going to be really pretty combined with like the woven detail of the
bottom and just something super simple and affordable that looks really elevated, especially
in the center of a dining table.
This would also be pretty just placed in front of a fireplace or even styled on a coffee
table.
So lots of places that this can go.
I can also use this as a nice vase.
I love that it's elevated with that little pedestal detail and I love the warmth and
texture that the woven detail adds.
So definitely some good finds.
Okay.
So I've shown you all in a lot of different videos how I collect vintage brass candlestick
holders and I use them all over the place.
I'll use them propped on our mantle.
I'll use them as a centerpiece inside of a wreath.
I also use them dotted amongst a tablescape.
I just love having kind of like a collection of pieces.
I think that it looks really cozy and vintage.
And personally, when I do collect the brass, I don't clean it because I love that it has
a little bit of a patina on it.
And I think it just helps to add a lot of warmth and texture into my decorating.
So when I saw this next piece, I was so excited.
And they are these beautiful vintage trumpet candle holders.
Now each one of these was $2.
I've seen very similar ones being sold on designer sites for close to $30 each.
So the fact that it was $4 for the two of these was so, so good.
I actually found these back in North Carolina, I think right before we moved.
So I just kind of like threw them in my Christmas bin and forgot about them.
And then when I was unpacking Christmas this year, I was like, Oh my gosh, I totally forgot
about these.
So I've never used them in my decorating before.
So we're going to remove the price tags and just kind of, you know, prop them on maybe
our mantle just to kind of give it more of that Christmasy feel.
Personally, I love the combination of like a shiny metal.
So whether you use silver, copper, brass, I just love the combo of like that shiny detail
with some like natural evergreen greenery.
I think that contrast just looks really beautiful.
It adds some warmth and some glitz for the holidays, but it still keeps things feeling
really natural and kind of rustic.
So I think these will look really beautiful on our mantle.
They'd also look really gorgeous just styled on a shelf or also on a console table just
to add a little bit of height and again, that brassy accent.
So really good price on these and such a good find.
Okay.
So you guys know I'm loving cloches lately.
I feel like I cannot get enough.
And a time that I think is so fun to decorate with them is specifically during the holidays
because there's so many objects and decorative items that you can highlight with them.
You know, you can place a little nativity inside.
You could do a little ceramic village with like a glowing house set.
You could also just put pillar candles in there and tie it with a bow.
You can put bowl filler, ornaments, pine cones, all kinds of things inside and it just makes
it feel really special and decorated and elevated for the holidays.
So I found this next piece and you're going to have to use your imagination a little bit,
but I think you guys will see the vision and it is this bell cloche.
Now I am personally not a big fan of the base of this.
I think it actually would be kind of pretty on its own, but I don't like the combination
because it just kind of screams cow farmhouse to me.
So what I'm going to do is actually remove the base.
And by the way, I got this for $4.99, so five bucks, which I thought was a really good deal
just for like the cloche lid because I really love the shape of the lid.
I love that it has that bell look to it.
So that can actually translate for the holidays and kind of be like a cute bell festive detail.
And I also love that the glass has bubbles in it.
I just think that's a really fun texture and cute little detail.
And then on the top, this does appear to be hand blown.
So you can kind of tell in the way that the handle was made, which I really like.
So I thought that I would just use kind of like a rustic pedestal that I have already
and then I'll place this on top.
And what I'm going to put inside is just something like a little pine cone figural candle and
maybe some faux greenery just to make it feel a little bit more styled and rustic.
And this is just a pretty accent piece that you could place on a shelf, on a coffee table,
console table, in a bathroom, wherever, just something to kind of make it feel a little
bit more dressed up and special for the holidays, but it also feels elegant.
And there's something about that glass that I love.
It feels like a little display piece and makes things feel a little bit more fancy and elevated.
So that's perfect for the holidays.
And I also love that this is a specific bell shape.
So you know, kind of fun, especially for the holiday season.
All right, everyone, that about wraps up this video.
