Western Massachusetts is expecting near-record-breaking cold temperatures overnight, with single-digit lows and wind chills below zero.
Well, the start of December has been
nothing but winterike. We did see some
snow on Tuesday and now it's all about
the really cold air and we're likely
going to be seeing close to
record-breaking temperatures for our
daily low temperature for tonight. Uh in
terms of the pattern, we are going to
see this really big dip in the jetream
move to the east and that is going to
allow temperatures get quite cold across
the region through tonight and
throughout the rest of the week. We look
to stay well below average when it comes
to temperatures. These are air
temperatures by early tomorrow morning.
You can see everyone is in the single
digits. We are forecasting around 2 to 8
degrees. And when you factor in the
breeze, it's going to feel like we're
around or below zero by tomorrow
morning. So, when you get this cold,
it's important to be safe. uh ways you
can be safe in the cold weather. Of
course, dress in layers, wear that hat,
gloves, and mittens. Keep your pets
indoors and, you know, obviously limit
their time outside and maybe even
protect their paws as well. When the
ground gets so cold, it's the same as
the summertime when the pavement gets
hot. It can hurt their feet. When the
pavement gets very cold and you have the
salt and the sand on the roads, that can
hurt their paws as well. And for you
yourself, limit your time outside and
make sure again you wear all those
layers working for you. 20y
