Head To Head Golf Against My Dad | 9 Holes Match Play

this is my dad he was the head pro at this golf course for 16 years this is where he taught me how to play golf in today's video i'm gonna play a nine hole match against my dad he's currently 82 years old so to make things fair i'm going to give him a stroke on every hole except the may the best jensen win [Applause] a little different hole than i was a kid straight automatically as usual oh yeah it's been doing that for what 60 years not quite swings getting a little shorter but the ball is just as straight up that's the quarantine swing right there hitting to the old green whoops that was terrible a little loose there you see all that uh overgrow that was the green when i was a kid this was about 500 yards now it's 540. this was like a great start short par five and the next hole was like a 290 yard par-4 but they've moved the tea back since i was a kid it's a little more tricky weird to my eye perfect call to heal top a 3-wood when you're giving your dad a stroke i think we might go one down pretty quickly squirting a little right a little kick left okay short right chip in a putt all right got a putt a little thin just got that for par i got that for birdie good looking pot but uh we'll give you that how many strokes you get now stroke a hole except the par threes okay so this is to win the first off [Applause] oh that bump there a couple of bumps here no blood so different from when i was a kid a little off the toe good bounce good bounce good bounce okay should be fine dad do you remember the first time i beat you here no i don't i don't either it's been it was so long ago the only time i remember you beating me was in florida at lpga international right that was the first time i beat my dad was lpga international the second time i beat you it was the same summer at a family reunion in like quebec it would have been like 14 15. it was a big deal oh that was up in the valley village yeah and then i i think it took me a little longer to beat you here you had the course record here on both courses for a long time right no no well you had them on both horses for a bit right no i had them on the south this course 1971 66 and then 1978 i shot 64. 64. and that still stands on this side yeah but the the best i've had over the other side was 67 yeah and the course wrecker on the other side was demolished i think by eugene wong in the mackenzie tour event but i guess dad still has the competitive course record on this side not bad not bad for an old fart yeah you got something see when i was a kid basically the t was that hill where you see the garden the green was there was like 300 yards and it was like one this one we always wanted to try and drive now it's like 360. not his best ah there you go good swing there should release release release well done that would bounce harder [Applause] all right i'll give you that no blood [Applause] [Applause] they're pretty good [Applause] okay a little short game contest there i am right there dad hit a good one playing it short just got a little too much chase he's back here bump and run he saw him pull a lot of those out in the short game video we did so pressure's on now too much air on it just a little outside the young lad takes a one-up lead yeah so it's probably in the trees that line was okay as a kid not today what was that what were we saying maybe the door swung open a little bit yeah i could have some tree trouble you're getting a stroke and it's pretty wide open hole here oh yeah a little thin but she's gonna run no that's not thin that's nice oh i'm gonna get it nice and running here you hear that not thin it was a little brown hook you may be wondering why dad's playing like a combination of white and green teas it's like a hybrid course for his age or more well yeah because the some of the par fours are 400 plus yards and it's just too long for too long that's the 12 handicap now i did say earlier you've been breaking your age pretty regularly though since so 69 years since he was 69 years old he's 82 now it's your low around this year uh 76. 76 been a short season though right we didn't start them yeah good old cobia third of may third week in may you got to play two rounds in florida though at least yeah and i shot my age in the one yeah when we went to the malacca to the um it was in black right yeah i think i shot 66 and probably still would have lost in a match the ross no i have the card in my bag right here okay hold on you were 67 i think it's a donald ross course yeah plaque built in the 1920s you were 67 i was 82. you were 31 on the back yeah you go on a birdie and that was it and then missed a bunch of birdies coming in proof there you go what do you got dad 150. we're into the wind a bit hey a little off the left looks like a deep uh yeah back back to front green i remember growing up you always warned me of the false front here great shot center of the green a little short catch a little off the toe yeah i caught you a little in the toe yeah no right in front of the green though looking pretty good okay we're in tough here oh that was so good just chased over the back oh that was really good it's a good shot a little aggressive a little aggressive shot dad can't give strokes and putts though gotta see it first chip not in bermuda grass i'll take it come on come on a little firm yeah too much sauce these raised cups that's it that was bottom of the cup no problem no bud bombs away get a little laugh you didn't see it like that is that this is your nemesis haul was then not anymore oh not anymore you better not be today you need a you need a w holes are my nemesis you bogeyed this hole both times you set the course record here mr automatic shot tracer is going to be fun with these they're just going to be complete straight lines 170 big green hey just bounce right oh what a terrible kick left when it landed stayed short of the bunker though all right for sure dang it caught that branch and slowed it down where'd it go in the bunker low runner and a bit unlucky that thing nibbled hard hey this one's slow okay for the half good fight good all right dad all right sneaky little putt there just kind of slapping around those last two making pars though and staying in this one up dad's not got his best stuff here being on bogey golf four holes left but par five here i can't i can't rest on my laurels i gotta gotta bring the heat i think he's gonna smarten up here got a feeling another center of the fairway drive just gonna pop the three wood down there yeah a great ball dad best of the day came to play on this hole short game again yeah i know i hit it fast me too oh i lost the plot here wow i opened a couple doors for you on this hole great shot but can't give it to you can't give it to you unfortunately yeah good car oh what a great power by your son wow six iron in great five nice drive match is even three to play all right my first ever birdie was on this hole yeah maybe i could make my first birdie today on this oh city wide open green wide open door oh sit sit all right get up and down there here's dad pin high i did chase up into the bunker there you go okay got to putt for park oh a great shot andrew good one that's not fair [Laughter] good one oh my god hey i'm sorry dad that's quite all right there's two holes left terrible shots for two holes in a row and dunk a bunker shot to go one up i mean i did say i was gonna make my first birdie of the day on that it hole yeah much to the chagrin of the old man no i'm just saying well if he gets it close i've got to make my putt for a half so we got two holes left you stroke on both of them you're one down one one doubt you like you like where you're at i'm perfect no hello but it'll run it'll roll i didn't want to be there okay we got a tucked left pin sucker pin he wants to make birdie it's really soccer to me here but net birdie should be pretty good and up and out of it short right gotta test that short game again hold it a little bit and she went over the green in trouble absolutely terrible shot there like wide open green i got a one-up lead and i pull it long and left you can tell i'm quite rusty after almost three weeks of not making a golf swing but i'm smiling i'm having a blast now with my dad and it's a close match and i'm still under par oh and hopefully i still will be after this hole there's dad's third shot he got that one to the hole a little too aggressive so he's got that for par net birdie and i gotta go down the car oh never touch the tree can you believe that great shot give you that one wow oh my gosh it's right behind the hole that's uh that's a five had the chance to close it out with a nice wedge and i make bogey so we are all square with one to play and dad strokes unbelievable what a great putt what a great chip what a great drive what a terrible wedge and dad this bogey golf is hanging on unbelievable am i even par oh man let's close it out let's close it out sorry al it's time to close it out no oh no dad you missed the fairway no oh what was that i'm in the bunker that was not good i missed the fairway i haven't seen that in a few years a little heavy okay just short of the ground where are you going dude oh it's just awful really good shot it just didn't bite so he's got that for par and i'm pin high just right of the green all right dad this is for the win that's a good weight out but not high enough all right we'll give you that five for four yeah good match i hope you guys enjoyed that video give it a thumbs up if you did subscribe if you're not subscribed and i guess the next time we'll see my dad in a match is like the next time you come to jacksonville we got it we got it we got to figure this out on my turf
