What does the future of Motocross look like? There has been a lot of talk about the future of MX in recent months so we headed to the biggest grass roots Dirt Bike race in the country to take a look and get the lowdown on what the future holds! The MX Master Kids has quickly become one of the biggest and most fun motocross events in the UK, and with over 400 2 Strokes lining up to do battle around the awesome Cusses Gorse track it's sure to be an epic weekend!
It seems like there's been a lot of talk about the future of motocross recently.
From the state of pro events to the dawn of the electric era,
some people might be thinking that we're about to lose the heart and soul of the sport.
So we've come here to the biggest grassroots event in the UK
to take a good hard look at the future of the sport that we all love.
The MX MasterKids has grown massively from its humble origins eight years ago.
In 2022, we'll see over 400 screaming two-strokes lining up ready for the gate drop.
This truly is the ultimate grassroots event
and it will give us a key insight into what the future may hold for the sport.
But before we go into that,
let me hand you over to the master of ceremonies for the weekend,
the one and only Mr. Geoff Perritt.
Welcome everybody to the 2022 MX MasterKids UK
here at the fabulous Cusses Course.
Look at that track, ready to go.
This event is unreal.
400 plus riders, youth riders only as well, I'd like to point out.
Three days of action, three days of racing,
and massive podium presentation at the end where everybody gets a trophy.
The event is just building and building.
It's so special.
We've got like a fanfare here in the evening.
We have an electric balance bike racing.
There's all kinds of stuff going on for the kids.
It's such a special weekend.
And for the parents as well, you know,
it's just such a special weekend for all the family to bond, to unite.
You know, you've got the nationals now, we've got all that going on,
but this is a one-off special.
It's really something else.
Just seeing that amount of riding for me, calling the action as well.
Brilliant talent.
The little auto kids, unreal, up to the 125s and 250s.
So sit back, enjoy and watch the action.
Maybe for 2023, you'll be here racing the MX MasterKids UK.
It's unreal.
Just make sure you're here and enjoy it.
In the main, MX MasterKids might be all about good vibes and having fun.
But as with any form of racing,
there's serious business to attend to on track once those gates drop.
With 10 classes all getting six races across the weekend,
we had plenty of time to see what the event was all about
and witness some certified future stars in action.
Let's go racing.
The talent on show was tremendous.
There are certainly names on the results sheet that we'll be seeing for many years to come.
At the end of the day, overall results at a one-off fun event like this
aren't the most important thing.
So long as you're having fun, making memories and building bonds with your friends,
your rivals and your family,
that's what really matters at youth and grassroots racing.
As Jeff Rose said at the top of the video,
one of the best aspects of the MX MasterKids
is the huge podium celebration at the end of the weekend.
Every rider gets their moment in the spotlight.
And this year, the guys had supercross racer Dylan Woodcock
and world-renowned trainer Coach Rob in attendance to dish out the goods.
So, after all of that fun both on and off track,
what have we really learned about the future of motocross?
Well, I think that no matter what happens at the top level
or with the development of our machines,
so long as there are racers ready to send it
and riders determined to put in the graft.
So long as there are families having fun,
kids making friends
and dads willing to make the sacrifices to make it all happen,
then we will continue to see the gates drop for many years to come.
I saw all of those things in abundance at the MX MasterKids event
and it left me with a good feeling for the future.
Let's just hope that a few of these kids
decide to stick around on two strokes for as long as possible.
What do you guys think the future of our sport will look like?
