What's up, guys? Welcome to the updated
New York City apartment tour. We've been
living here for over 3 years now, so
it's long overdue for this apartment
tour. So, with that said, let's just
jump right into it.
Let's start off with the entryway. So,
we have these area wear wall hooks. And
usually there's a bunch of coats, but I
wanted the space to feel open and airy
for this apartment tour. And we just
think it's a nice statement piece. It's
super abstract and minimal. What you'll
notice though throughout the spaces, we
don't have a ton of color. Things are
typically more minimal, but for the
entryway, we figured why not have some
fun. We also have this twill checkered
entryway rug, and I think it's from Hey.
All right. And moving on to this area.
Totally different. Gives you more of
like a mid-century like farm house kind
of vibes, which I like. My wife did a
really good job with this space. It's
extra cozy. We've got like this wreath
because it's holiday season. Christmas
is right around the corner. We got this
super heavy marble catch all. And you
know what's an entryway without a
catchall? And then we have another sort
of like rustic kind of vintage vibes.
This is a gift that we got during our
wedding. A family friend gave it to us.
She actually knitted this from hand.
She's an excellent seamstress. And then
the rest is just, you know, some more
fake plants. Got the Dyson mounted to
the wall. 10 out of 10 recommend. Before
we continue today's apartment tour, I
want to thank Amazon for sponsoring
today's video.
The holidays look a little different,
and that's because our New York City
apartment is smarter than it's ever been
before, thanks to our Amazon devices.
I've been building a simple but powerful
smart home setup using Amazon devices.
Each one elevates my everyday routine,
and together they transform my space for
the holidays. And the Amazon Echo Show
11 is at the heart of all of it. I added
the Amazon Fire TV 55 in Omni Minile LED
series with 4K Dolby Vision IQ and a
super fast 144 hertz display plus the
Ring doorbell and the new Kindle
Coloroft. What I really appreciate about
the Amazon devices is that they were
designed to seamlessly work together.
And with Alexa Plus, everything just
feels intuitive from the moment you set
it up. First up is home awareness from
right outside of our apartment door. The
Ring battery doorbell camera quality
really blew me away.
>> Someone is at front door.
>> I didn't realize how sharp and how clear
it could be even in a low lit
environment. The Echo Show instantly
announces it and pulls up the Ring
camera feed even if I'm in another room.
I never miss a delivery or a guest. Next
up is entertainment. During this holiday
season, the Fire TV has become a part of
my winding down. The Dolby Vision looks
incredible, and the built-in Dolby Atmos
audio sounds rich and full. Perfect for
cozing up to watch a classic holiday
movie. Hey Alexa, show me '90s holiday
romcoms.
>> Classics like Sleepless in Seattle while
you were sleeping.
>> Best part is everything is immersive
outside the box without any extra
equipment needed. It really sounds like
our very own mini home theater setup
inside our bedroom. My favorite part
when it comes to connecting my devices
using Alexa Plus is setting up routines.
With one Alexa Plus routine, I can
transform our entire space into a more
festive and holiday feel. Hey Alexa,
create a holiday routine where the
office lights are green and red.
>> Created a routine that sets your office
lights to green then red.
>> And when I want to unplug or maybe
switch up my routine this holiday
season, the Kindle Coloroft has been my
go-to. I have this new routine that I've
been loving where I grab my coffee, I
walk into the office, I ask Alexa to set
a 10-minute timer, I unlock my Color
Soft, and start reading since I've been
taking investing and my finances more
seriously. The color display is perfect
for magazines, recipes, and cozy winter
reads. And I love the fact that I can
pick some of my favorite segments and
highlight them in color. So, yeah, our
space definitely feels a lot more
connected and smarter than it's ever
felt before. If you're interested in any
of the devices I use in today's video,
be sure to check out my description box
for a link that will take you to my
Amazon storefront. And thanks again to
Amazon for sponsoring this portion of
today's video. Moving on to the
functionality and storage in this
apartment. This is our makeshift pantry.
Got everything from dumbbells, Shopright
bags, hella toilet paper, got some
Lacroy if you want some. And then right
next to it is our in-unit washer and
dryer. I'm telling you, like to get this
in New York City, this is premium right
here. Like we don't even care about
square footage. We want in-unit laundry.
Closing that up. Moving on to this
space. You know, this apartment is kind
of awkwardly shaped. Like we only have
maybe I guess we have two rooms that
have four corners cuz you'll see the
office is like this weird I don't even
know if it's like a pentagon kind of
shape. But either way, I still love this
space in terms of like walking in and
you can see the entirety of the
apartment. And when you open up the
doors, you can see you can see buildings
in Prospect Heights and Fort Green. And
then you could also see Williamsburg,
which is really cool. This right here is
a monitor that I've been using. It's
called My Move. It's from LG or the LG
Swing monitor. Big fan of this. It's not
powered on, but I usually use it for
whenever I'm making coffee in the
morning, want to catch up on some news,
stock market, whatever, watch YouTube
videos. Super convenient monitor. And if
you have a larger space and are
interested in a portable monitor, I
highly recommend it. Next, just try not
to pay attention to this plant. I mean,
you guys have been following the channel
for whatever amount of years. This has
been a staple in our apartment, but GG's
GG's. All right, moving on to the
kitchen. This kitchen space is so
awkwardly shaped, but we're really
grateful for it because we've got a hood
with a light and a fan.
Like I said, we love to cook and we have
some storage and some shelving that we
actually built ourselves. Well,
actually, not that one. We task rabbit
this one. We built this. Pretty much
everything you see here, we built from
hand because it's IKEA. Either way, this
is it's kind of hanging on by a thread.
If you like come over here to the corner
where the wall is, you'll see it's
barely holding on, but it's it's sturdy.
It's been here for years. This right
here essentially are housing, our
coffee, some fruit. This is probably our
favorite shelf because we've got so many
like kitchen trinkets here. Got got our
oven mitts, some fruit. Like we usually
just store bananas here and then our
other like potatoes, apples, whatever.
I'm getting in the weeds here. But
either way, this is a Swiss Army knife
for our kitchen in terms of storage. And
then moving on to, you know, we got
dishwasher sink. We've got no garbage
disposal. We had it in our previous
apartment, but it's whatever. I do
really like this faucet, though. And
then we got a we actually got a new oven
not that long ago, and we've got some
Smeg appliances, a toaster here, some
drip coffee, which we don't make that
often. And then our pride and joy, our
espresso virtuo machine that we use
every single day. So yeah, I mean that's
pretty much the kitchen. And then of
course we did not build this massive
storage unit, but we did replace our
microwave because our last microwave was
trash. I think my favorite thing about
this kitchen, even though we would love
to have an kitchen that's more open
concept and actually has an island, I
love how minimal this kitchen is. I like
the combination of these like monochrome
color cabinets with wood finishes. It
adds a nice aesthetic or contrast to the
space because most of the space is just
a bunch of white walls and windows. And
the other thing I love is how the fridge
and freezer also have the same exact
panels as the cabinets. It's such a nice
touch and aesthetic. And as you can see,
it's consistent throughout the kitchen.
Like the gray and wood combination. It's
something I'd even consider doing if we
owned a home. And of course, can be a
tech bro without having tech even in the
kitchen. We've got these GOI strip LEDs.
And I just usually control them with my
phone, which you can control using the
GOI app. So, like if you don't feel like
turning them on and off physically, you
can do it within the app. You'll see a
lot of GOI products throughout our
space. And not necessarily technology in
the kitchen. We really only have like
the GOI LED light strips. Um, but we
have this Simple Human paper towel
holder that also comes with this spray
bottle, which I find super convenient.
It's definitely one of the best
purchases we've made in the last few
years. And then last but not least is
like our smoothie making and like tea
setup, which is this Fellow Electric
Kettle. And then we have the Beast
Smoothie Blender. We just wanted to go
with all black because it's just more
minimal. I wish we would have picked
another color, but these are the type of
products you get and you hold on to them
forever. Moving on to our kind of
makeshift dining room. Won't spend a ton
of time here, but we've got these kind
of like cafe boulay seats that we were
gifted from Castler about Yeah, actually
right around the same time that we moved
here. We shot a campaign with them like
3 years ago. And then we recently got
this round pedestal walnut table from
Amazon. And of course, it's like
makeshift wood. We used to have this
leaf table. This is like had like weird
shape to it as well. And it just didn't
work considering the kind of awkward
setup that we have here with the kitchen
and dining room table in terms of
spacing. Just kind of awkward angle. So,
we wanted to go with a round table. We
don't have too many people eating at the
dining room table anyways, but we
thought it was also a nice little kind
of cozy and modern aesthetic to add to
the dining room. All right, so moving on
to the smallest hallway you're probably
going to ever see. But I guess you can
Would you consider it a hallway, bro? I
don't know.
>> This is a credenza as well that we had
for a long time. And we kind of wanted
to just blend in with this space, which
is why we went with the white credenza
bed and breakfast kind of vibe. And we
basically just store a lot of our
facecloths and toiletries and so forth.
And then we've got the bathroom. I mean,
no real reason to come in here. Haven't
made a ton of changes. Love this massive
mirror that the bathroom has and this
tube light that spans the entirety of
this wall. And then we added another
credenza because we just needed more
storage because New York City apartments
are small and this space is super lived
in. We've been here for well over 3
years now. So, you just start
accumulating stuff. And then one of my
favorite Amazon dupes is this Nesso
table lamp. We used to have it nestled
in the corner by the window, but we
replaced it with a much cooler lamp that
you'll see just a few minutes. But yeah,
this nice orange mushroom looking lamp
adds a massive pop of color, I think, to
any space. Add it to your desk, add it
to a credenza in a hallway like this, or
you can make it a statement piece and
put it in your dining room table. And
this is the famous IKEA Hovet mirror
that we've had for like 5 years. And if
we had a bigger space, we love it so
much we'd have multiple, but it
definitely gives the apartment more of
that elevated museum vibe and one of the
best purchases. Like this has been with
us through like maybe four different
apartments. This is our pride and joy
right here. This is a side project that
really became kind of the heart of our
entire space and definitely our living
room. But this is the Boaxle wall shelf
from IKEA. And you can see here there's
a Vitzo magazine. And Vitzo is famous
for, you know, shelving systems. And we
wanted to install our own version that
was a bit cheaper. And this one's from
IKEA. And it's literally maybe 120th the
amount of money that a Vitzo shelving
system costs. But we absolutely love
this shelf. What we love about this
shelving system is it's organized chaos
and also there's little pieces of our
life here. So many different moments
from like weddings, wedding invites,
anniversary pictures, birthday cards,
some of our favorite books, um our love
for design. Highly recommend this. If I
could have done all over it again, I
would have added it to this entire
space. But moving on to the coziest part
of the apartment. Everyone loves this
couch. It wasn't expensive at all. We
actually purchased it from Costco maybe
6 years ago, 6, seven.
So comfortable and it's very broken in.
You can probably gauge where I like to
sit the most in game veg out to some NFL
or NBA games. But what I love about this
couch, even though I've gone back and
forth with Lee about this, is that I've
always wanted a coffee table because it
would just kind of make the space feel a
bit more modern, you know, a little more
spacious and airy, functional. But man,
we have guests over and we're just like
vibing out watching TV and stuff or me
and Lee are chilling. Having this
ottoman, it don't get any better than
that. like being able to put your feet
up over here, view Manhattan, view other
parts of Brooklyn, or you want to move
closer towards the dining room. We've
got a bunch of pillows to try to fill
this couch. And um yeah, because I am
clumsy, we needed to install the feet so
it looks a little less modern than it
did the last time we did this tour. All
right, this right here, this is fire,
right? This is crazy. This is from
Miller. So, shout out to Miller for
sending this over to us. But this is the
piece to have in your living room. It's
definitely our centerpiece at this
point. Big fan of the stainless steel
base and stem. I just think it makes the
space look so much more premium and
luxurious. Then we have really cool
views here, which you'll be able to see
a little bit better, but you can see
Williamsburg, you can see the East
River, you can see Long Island City, and
you might be able to see Manhattan. A
lot of our view has been blocked by new
buildings because if you live in a New
York City apartment long enough, that's
just inevitable. All right, so moving on
to this area. Not a ton has changed
outside of like our home theater system
and the TV, but we've had this IKEA
media console for ever and PlayStation
5. Literally, this is the OG one. This
is a Sony Bravia 8 TV and we have the
Sony Bravia Bar 8 and just the whole
Sony home theater system. RS5 speakers
behind the couch. It creates this
incredibly immersive audio experience.
So, it feels like we're at a movie
theater. Surround sound. It's so cool.
You can control what you want to hear.
So, if you're watching a football game,
if you want to just hear the stadium and
not commentators, you can do that. If
you want to hear the commentators and
not really hear the stadium, you can do
that as well. Or hear both. It's really,
really cool. This little donut,
Vanderblick, Vanderblick IKEA donut that
we got off Facebook Marketplace.
We've had it for a few years now. And
then it ties together well with this
wall. We've had this forever. So, if
you've even watched the videos like like
3 years ago, we had this got a couple
pictures. This is just the New Yorker
poster board that you can get at pretty
much any market in New York City. They
mass-produced those. However, we've got
some pictures from local photographers
and our friend Danny that took this
insane mountain landscape and I think
this was in Montana. And these other
pictures are from local artists. This
was shot in China. Love that picture.
And then this is a shot of the Empire
State Building. And it's even
timestamped and signed.
>> Was that that something?
>> Uh, you know what? I love modern and
clean. My wife likes plushy and
comfortable. And you know, it works
well. Yin and Yang. Basically just holds
the remote and drinks so we don't spill
anything. And I'm always losing the
remote. So that's why we got this for
her Stanley cups. All right, moving on
to the bedroom.
Absolutely love what we've done with our
bedroom space. It's so much more put
together. Before we were just like
whatever about the bedroom cuz we would
just come here to sleep. And we do have
a desk set up in a corner here for Lee.
He wanted to actually make our bedroom
nice. Don't have any sort of artwork,
but I love these halo lights that we got
from IKEA. Got this castlery nightstand
which is great for like storage. And
then the main furniture piece in our
bedroom, which is the Rochelle
performance bed frame from Castler. We
just really like this Boulay headboard.
It's really soft and comfortable. We
just quite frankly got tired of our
Walmart bed frame. And then we have this
article leaf six drawer double dresser
in white oak. We recently got this and
we're super proud of this purchase, but
we're really proud of what we've done in
the bedroom, making it super comfortable
to watch TV for lead to work from home
and for us to just kind of kick back and
relax at the end of the day. And then we
have the Amazon Fire TV. I think my
favorite thing about the Amazon Fire TV,
this is the 65-in Omni Miniledd series
for the for Amazon's Fire TV, and I just
love that it has voice commands. And
then my favorite space in the entire
apartment, the home office,
is where the magic happens and where the
work gets done. We do have a proper home
office video that we're going to be
releasing in a few weeks, but I figured
I'd give you guys a nice little sneak
peek of the updated home office. So,
starting, you know, with this wall, not
a lot has changed. Our picture frames
unfortunately broke in such a great
timely manner right before this video.
We've got the Stindig wall calendar. Had
this for years. Don't really use it.
It's really just aesthetic. Sometimes I
will take a peek to look at the date,
but I mean I've got a smartwatch, a
phone,
like I don't know. This is a more recent
addition. This is a Montana wire cube
that we installed because I wanted to
add another dimension to the space and
actually take advantage of the amount of
wall real estate that we have. Walls
were just too white and boring. These
are actually all smartphone boxes. So,
you could get an idea of how many phones
we've been reviewing the last couple
years. And this is actually like 70% of
the phones that we have here. This is a
coffee table that we got. And these two
actually came as a pair as a set. You
don't even need to use a remote to turn
the lights on anymore because this is a
real smart home, real smart office. Hey
Alexa, turn on all the home office
lights. Make them 100% brightness and
white.
All office lights are now on at maximum.
>> Got to love making routines with Amazon
Alexa. Now, the desk. I'll go into this
more once we actually have a home office
tour, but this is a spout sitto stand
table from Herman Miller and it's in
this really monochromatic like matte
white finish. Absolutely love this new
change to our desk setup. This is the
Herman Miller Aeron chair and it has a
stainless steel frame and base. I think
it goes really well with a more white
backdrop. We've had this drawer for
forever. We've had these IKEA pegboards
forever just to basically house some
gear. And then we've had these IKEA
floating shelves for years as well where
we just kind of randomly put things up
here. And then of course we've got our
setup, you know, accessories for my
headphones, some MagSafe charging
stations, new keyboard from Logitech
that I unboxed and posted on Tik Tok.
the old lamp from Herman Miller and then
of course the YouTube 100K subscribers
silver plaque that probably one of my
most like proud accomplishments ever
thanks to you guys. If you're a tech
creator, you got to have a Husky drawer.
There's so many different compartments
here. There's this massive one that
houses everything from like our phones,
desk setup, accessories,
wellness, tech, this the body minigun,
and then we have the open spaces shoe
rack that we've had for a long time. And
then of course this closet that I'm not
going to show you because it's kind of
embarrassing. All right, so that wraps
up the New York City apartment tour 2.0
here in Brooklyn. Really proud of how
this space has come together. It's the
longest we've ever stayed in one unit,
so it's very lived in. And when we move,
we're going to kind of shed a little bit
of a thug tear. I literally have to
catch a flight in less than 3 hours, and
I haven't even started packing yet. You
guys know how it goes. You ain't got to
go home, but you got to get the out of
here. All right. Peace.
