The Timberwolves improve their record to 18-10 with the win, while the Thunder fall to 25-3 for the season.
We are in downtown Minneapolis where it's a balmy one degrees and we have two elite
number one options getting set to do battle.
Shea Gildas Alexander, reigning league MVP, reigning finals MVP, second in the league
in scoring.
And Anthony Edwards, he's back after a three-game absence, one of the elite scorers in this
league.
We got a good one coming up right here on Prime.
Welcome you in the building where it's a little bit warmer than it is outside.
Minnesota, 17-10 on the season, taking on the 25-2 Oklahoma City Thunder.
We welcome you inside Target Center.
Lou Dorch, Jalen Williams, the reigning MVP, SGA, Chet Holmgren, and Isaiah Hardenstein.
For the home team, the Wolves wearing the City Edition Prince-inspired uniform tonight.
Dante DiVincenzo, Jada McDaniels, Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle, and Rudy Gov.
Minnesota wants to prove to themselves it's a new year, while the Thunder wants to send
a message that nothing has changed.
Edwards back in the lineup for the Wolves, we're happy to have him back.
I will say this, Grady, Minnesota has been able to sleep on what was a poor first quarter
against Memphis, a home game that they let get away, and so coming out in this first
quarter with Ann on the return, let's see what kind of energy is in the building with
this squad.
Some tremendous guard defenders in this game that will match up with one another.
Edwards, just like that.
This is Randle.
Outside, DiVincenzo, pump, penetrates down the leg, the runner is...
Great play by Dante, the hesitation.
Williams, on the move, goes glass.
Gildas Alexander, outside, Dorch, won't take the three, instead he'll kick it out to Williams.
Williams, long range, and drains the trifecta.
It's accelerated down the lane, didn't run a 7-0 run.
Gildas ranks J as pure.
9-0 Thunder run.
Edwards, Edwards, three ball, one goal, Gobert.
Minutes of this game.
It's a practice a little bit different than game in actuality.
Williams is good, and OKC on fire to start this ball game.
Randle, to DiVincenzo.
Outside, McDaniels, with the help.
The activity picking up for Minnesota.
I thought maybe a foul there with McDaniels with that sweeping left-handed dunk attempt.
SGA got it, Trey.
That was much needed as Dorch.
Minnesota, this is Joe from downtown.
Swish, sends up Caruso from downtown.
Off the heel, rebound Reed.
Get up himself, spinning through traffic.
Another quality possession.
First turnover for OKC.
Highland, 25-17 OKC.
High defensive assignment.
McDaniels came to help, but four seconds on the clock.
Step back, finds Holgren.
Beautiful feed for two.
Had himself a Christmas present right at the basket.
Second field goal for Holgren.
McDaniels, 65 seconds to go in the first.
Two huge three to stay close here in the first.
He had started the last three in Edwards' absence.
Holgren, another five, SGA.
Outside look, Kimbridge-Williams in the corner, left it short.
Offensive board.
Eight offensive rebounds as Holgren hits the turnaround.
Reed, some shots here.
They get his offense going.
He's so important to invite them to their bench.
DiVincenzo with the rainbow.
He's the thunder, so good in so many defensive categories.
As Mitchell hits the turnaround floater.
One of the most improved players in the league by far,
taking every advantage of the opportunity.
Edwards, easy do.
Wallace, Delmarusso.
Extends the lead to five.
Joe, deep in there.
Edwards, extra pass to Highland.
Highland leads it for a runner goal.
Three fouls on DiVincenzo.
Williams attacking and flips it up and through.
Wow.
With a finish from Jalen up over the top of Rudy Gobert.
Outside, DiVincenzo, yes.
At halftime, talking about how OKC is collapsing.
They're going to have open threes.
They've got to stay confident and knock it down.
DiVincenzo keeps firing.
Third three-pointer of the ball in his last three outings.
Williams splitting the defense.
Another high arcing shot.
Off glass for two.
Tosses it out.
Edwards is lonely.
DiVincenzo pushing the tempo.
Inside Durangel.
With the response.
Outside.
And it's good.
Again from deep.
Going to take it for DiVincenzo.
DiVincenzo.
The trifecta.
Caruso, a little push off.
Hits the jam.
Just hanging in there defensively.
Making it tough.
SGA in defense.
Can they convert on the offensive end?
Mitchell on the drive.
Easy lay-in for two.
Step through.
Kick out.
Flushing.
Mitchell has it.
And the floater is pure.
He's just elevated this franchise.
And he's the North Star for here.
And number 21 deserves to be in the Raptors.
I know five is in Boston.
That just doesn't feel right as AJ knocks down the three.
A 14-3 OKC run.
With two minutes to go.
And then Hardenstein the offense aboard.
Caruso to a cutting.
SGA for the flush.
And Caruso gets the easy assist to Shea.
The momentum has shifted.
16-3 run.
Bones.
His parents and the game is not over.
And Shea's too good to be held down too long.
Long way to go.
SGA.
That's a friendly roll.
Go Bears screen.
Daniels on the baseline.
Nearly stripped.
Got it back.
Misses it off the glass.

Rand spinning to the red block from behind by Holm.
By Chet.
Sees a crowd.
Gives it up.
No shopping.
Gives it up to Randall.
Outside Dillon.
And DiVincenzo gives it up to Reed.
Edwards.
Flexing his muscles inside.
SGA.
Mitchell rises in.
Edwards just pulled down his 10th rebound of the night.
SGA.
OKC's only missed one.
They're 23 for 24.
We'll see if that comes into play.
Put it through.
Decel.
Pass stolen by Wallace.
Who else?
Wallace.
Williams.
Blocked.
For Gildas.
Alexander leaves it for Reed.
Short hook is good.
Alexander.
Caruso with it.
The bad news is they're going to the free throw line.
All right.
Possession game.
OKC down through.
Minnesota foul.
107-104.
Close the game on an 8-0 run.
Thanks so much, Grady.
Ant, you guys lose your head coach early in this one to an ejection.
You hand the Thunder just their third loss on this season.
The competition, the intensity of this building, how would you describe it?
It was electric.
The fans brought the energy.
Coach brought the energy in the first quarter when he got threw out,
and we had to respond.
For you, it's your first game back after missing the last three
with just over 30 seconds left to play.
You had an opportunity to tie the game.
Instead, you went for the lead.
Take me inside that decision making of that three ball.
I receive a lot of negative criticism because I never go for the tie.
I heard Gibbon Arenas not too long ago say I'm trying to go home,
so I'm going for the game every time.
Can you take me inside that huddle along with your play, your leadership?
Our cameras caught you in a third quarter that saw 10 lead changes alone.
What were you telling your guys in that moment?
When Shea get the ball, show them a crowd, show them two, three bodies.
Same thing they do to me.
When everybody else get the ball, go home.
Make them beat us.
See if they can play one-on-one.
They got a lot of great players, but we trusted the game plan
and tried to show Shea as many bodies as possible.
Final one for you.
A lot of your guys consider this a must-win opportunity.
You guys handle business.
What message do you want this one to send, Ant?
It don't send anything.
It's game 28.
They pay us to win games, and we won this one.
We dropped a bad one last game, so we had to win this one.
Ant, appreciate the time.
You're out to the win.
Thank you.
