► In November 2025, 18-year-old British student George Smyth vanished while on a solo expedition through Romania’s treacherous Bucegi Mountains. A keen hiker and geology student, George became disoriented when a severe blizzard and thick fog engulfed the high-altitude ridges near Bran Castle. Despite a final emergency call and the subsequent discovery of his backpack containing unused survival gear, George remains missing in the deep snow. What has followed is an immense search effort across a hostile alpine landscape that continues to defy investigators.
