I think I was really influenced and kind of inspired by movies of the 30s and 40s
which sort of show the background of Hollywood, sort of behind the scenes.
And I think that's a great place because I think those kinds of movies
and that era really sort of establish what we think of as Hollywood glamour.
Having worked for a lot of actors and people in the movie business,
there's something so comforting and kind of cozy about a library, about a paneled room,
and it felt that at the Academy Awards where there's so much bustle and activity going around
and kind of so much energy in the air, it felt like that a library would be a great retreat
to kind of collect your thoughts before you go out and have to be on screen
for millions and possibly billions of people.
We used a lot of fabrics. We had some teruahic fabrics from Cowden and Tout
that are linen velvet or fabrics which have a real tactile quality to them.
So they're things that you're going to feel comfortable sitting in
in clothes that you're dressed up to go out on stage.
Philip Jeffries made for us this beautiful wall covering which we've used in the room
including the amazing ceiling, these gilded squares, these beautiful gold leaf squares
which give us this beautiful sheen and kind of finish to the room.
All the upholstery is from Baker. Then there's the red coffee table which is from my collection.
Samsung, they were sort of wonderful and generous enough to give us all of these screens
that are kind of in the hallway that you enter.
And from Connie Nest, we're able to borrow all this imagery, all these photographs.
And they sort of fade in and fade out.
And it's a great kind of visually interesting thing to kind of walk into
and you kind of see from various angles in the room.
But it kind of again ties the modern aspect of the Samsung TVs
which are showing you the show at the same time in the background
you have this little kind of echo of the great days of Hollywood.
Quest Royal which is a terrific gallery in New York lent us, you know,
I think millions of dollars worth of art.
What better than a sort of set for people who are used to working in sets?
The art kind of helps to give it a real, a sense of kind of truth
and make it feel like a true mogul's library
which is something that we're really shooting for.
