On our left we discover the Château d'Anjony This
fortress perched on a small promontory is itself very tall
Nearly 40 meters in height
Very impressive nothing escaped him
The Anjony family built this fortress in the 15th century
At the request of King Charles VII with the mission of ensuring order
against the bandits and mercenaries who were active in the region
The Hanoublah dates back to the 15th century with this mountain
fortress which has the particularity of being composed of a keep
A single room on each floor a very large room surrounded
by four corner towers which makes a very compact whole
Very military and has been in its prime since about 1430
The noble room is on the upper
floor That is extraordinary
She has been decorated since the 16th century
with frescoes inspired by chivalric literature
It is the jewel of the castle decorated with this very old
legend from the High Middle Ages called the Legend of the Knights
And the Knights are characters from our story
but in the broadest sense of the term one could call it
The Mediterranean civilization that is to say it
features three Christians three Jews and three ancients
These legendary heroes are all depicted on their horses
Among them is Emperor Charlemagne next to King David
and finally Alexander the Great
Two characters are seated on either side of the fireplace
To the left Michel d'Anjoni the ancestor of Robert
He had this set designed to impress his future
wife Germaine de Foix depicted here in a court dress
Germaine de Foix for him was a very prestigious marriage
because the Foix family was a very powerful family
There was a branch of the Foix family in our high
Cantal That's why she was able to marry a local lord
When the frescoes are completed the entire influence
of the Italian Renaissance arrives in France
The setting is theatrical
A style very popular with Queen Catherine de'
Medici which would be represented here as a medallion
She brought the dynamism of the Italian Renaissance with her and
also brought hundreds of artists
to Paris to help with this dynamism
So the Italian atmosphere was there and this influence
reached Anjoni and is reflected in this piece
