Michael Porter Jr. finished with a team-high 27 points along with 9 rebounds for the Nets in the losing effort. The Warriors improve their record to 17-16 with the win, while the Nets fall to 10-20 for the season.
Saturday night celebration in Minneapolis.
The Nets won their third straight game,
complimentary basketball,
and maybe the biggest smile we've ever seen
from one Cam Thomas.
Tonight, Michael Porter Jr. and the Nets
trying to keep this winning streak alive
as they meet one of the legends of the game,
Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors,
their only trip into Barkley Center.
The Nets are ready to go,
and so are we here on,
yes, it's the Warriors and the Nets,
the first of two meetings tonight from Brooklyn.
Let's check out the Nets' starting lineup.
Deomen, Mann, Porter, Clowney, Plaxton.
It is no accident that things changed
once Clowney was inserted into the starting lineup
at the power forward spot,
and Porter shifted to his more natural
small forward position.
Positional size across the board,
you see it on the offensive side,
but in particular, what they've done defensively
through this month of December, a big part of that.
Meanwhile, for the Golden State Warriors,
this is the same starting lineup
that they've had for the sixth consecutive game.
Prior to this stretch,
they had eight unique lineups in eight games,
so they were looking for some consistency.
Now, they're trying to bounce back
after a 141-127 loss in overtime to Toronto yesterday.
They got their doors blown off in the extra session.
Curry had 39 points, but did not score in OT,
and when Steph Curry is in the building,
there is always this added sense of anticipation.
It's electric.
He brings that to the table in how he performs.
He's done it through his whole career,
and everyone can feel it.
And we're underway here in Brooklyn.
Nets gunning for their fourth consecutive win.
Brian Forte, John Butler, Derek Collins,
veteran officiating crew on hand.
Swing it, cloudy, back for man, off the penetration,
kick out, corner, three ball, got him.
Butler, kick out post, can stroke it, and does.
Ties the game at three.
He takes it at the chest of green.
It blasts off the hands of Claxton.
Deomen fires and connects.
Deomen with a long-range bomb.
Post against Claxton, green one-on-one with man.
Curry gets the touch, kick, moody, corner, bomb.
There's always multiple eyes on him,
and his teammates can hit shots like that.
That's what opens up and unlocks their offense.
Corner, hot shooter.
Skimmer ahead for man, picked up by green.
Now they switch out front.
Nice find in the corner.
Deomen!
Golden State tosses it in, and the intercept.
Clowney rushing to the rim.
It's a three-on-two development.
Lob it up, Claxton puts it down on a special connection.
Porter draws the assignment.
Off the stutter, the jumper is an air ball.
Clowney, a blast ahead.
Porter by himself, he's gonna put it down.
Timeout Warriors.
Deomen lines it up, off the heel.
Apparently ball don't lie.
Peyton lays it in, so they get their bucket
with just the possession later.
Curry, straight line drive.
Peyton, corner pop, on target.
It's a three.
Keep an eye on turnovers.
Golden State, 28th in the NBA in that category.
They're committing 16.2 per game.
Clowney, yes sir.
Shot clock winding down.
The push shot doesn't go, and Porter is there.
Get it ahead quickly.
Deomen, head on a swivel, three ball on the way.
He's got it.
The Anthony Melton is in the game.
He was actually on the Nets roster last season.
Claxton, the sweeping move,
and the Nets have themselves another 10-0 run.
Played a key role for the Nets the other night.
Santos, give it up.
Pump fake and jam for Jackson Davis.
Double team on Deomen, and he gives it away.
First turnover.
Melton will take it in.
Deomen was lurking, but couldn't get back in time.
Tough to defend as a rookie.
You're not always accustomed to the personality
you've seen over and over.
Chemsky, the pull-up pop goes.
This has not been a critical set.
Traore got a kick.
Thomas, shot clock winding down.
Steps through, and he scores.
Dan Thomas creating.
Wolfe, thought about it.
Pretend to shoot.
Dan Thomas got engulfed by Butler.
Recovers, goes all the way to the rim.
D-9.
Jackson Davis with the full bomb.
This has been the best scoring month of his career.
Quarters in his eighth year in the league.
We'll reset the lineups here in a moment,
but he heals his in, and he immediately scores.
Thomas uses the screen from Sharp.
They blitz in.
Lead Traore open, and he makes him pay with a trade.
Good-looking three-point shot.
Off the make, the Nets don't get back,
and Draymond Green at this level.
Thomas, shot clock is winding down.
He's gonna have to make it happen with a jab and jumper.
Kaboom.
That's a long two-pointer for Cam Thomas.
Curry against Wolfe.
The jumper is silky smooth.
It's a three.
It's now one of five from three-point territory.
Keel trying to dig in against Thomas.
Thomas.
The jumper goes.
Cam Thomas, string music.
Clowney's got a seven-three wingspan.
High-low action.
Porter couldn't catch it cleanly,
and allowed Golden State to recover.
And Claxton, full-out rack attack.
Keel, face guarded by Clowney.
Spencer now against Powell.
Bounce it.
Payton, extra, inside for the flush.
Jackson Davis.
Here in this first half,
and it's been a little bit of everything.
He is an effortless scorer.
Spencer, probing, and gets the bucket,
and then talking some smack in the process.
He's gotten some DNPs,
so an opportunity to be back in this rotation.
Back and forth we go with this lead.
10 lead changes.
Porter, he's doing it from everywhere.
Michael Porter Jr.
In two years, Warriors have played
the most road games in the NBA this season.
So Jemski, the drive, and the corkscrew for two.
But Jemski, with eight to shoot.
A little peek to the clock.
Clowney there defensively.
The movement.
Spencer gets upstairs for the bucket.
Porter, looking for the open man.
It's man.
Outside, Deomen.
Got a three!
Deomen there defensively.
Switch now with man.
Butler forcing his way
right through the hands of Jackson Davis.
Warriors control.
Bouncing, Jackson Davis, again on the inside.
He's making a difference for Golden State.
Butler, to the rim, hard.
Knocked away by man.
Butler sticks with it.
Spencer, the middle opens up.
Rejected by Claxton!
Thanks, Ian.
Yegor, 12 points,
all coming from behind the three-point line.
What was the key to you finding the rhythm
and getting to those spots?
As I said before, my teammates setting me up
for a good position so I can find a good shot,
and screening well and finding me.
This game is back and forth.
Defense is gonna be key in the second half.
What do you guys need to clean up
and do to slow down this Warriors team?
I think just, as I was saying before, again,
stick to our staples and the game plan.
Being able to come back to the defense from offense,
get the rebounds in.
Don't let them get their main players
play as they wanna play.
Thanks, Yegor.
Thank you.
Butler with the uncontested rebound.
That's had a 13-point lead.
They were up 28 to 15.
Butler, all the way to the hoop.
Man will trigger in for Claxton.
Deomen being guarded tightly there by Pugetsu.
Porter gets a clean look.
Put it on the board.
Michael Porter, Jr.
Toss in by Mann.
Claxton, one-on-one with Green.
The back in.
Flows it up.
Gets the roll and the foul.
20-23.
That was a 12-game winning streak.
Claxton drives.
Claxton finishes.
Deomen, short.
Right back to him.
Deomen again.
Rims out.
Back to Porter.
Payton defended by the bigger Wolf.
Curry, step back three.
Got him.
He's pulling it at Barclays.
The first thing he saw was the Liberty office.
He was able to show some of the coaches around
and give them a tour.
And I asked him how he's kind of balanced
these last few weeks.
And he said, it's been kind of hard.
So he focuses on the Liberty.
But January 1st, he'll start a new gig
and will be here in Brooklyn.
Yeah, pretty amazing story
as Thomas gets to the rim.
Spin.
Jackson Davis on a kick.
Curry using the screen.
Switch out front.
Now he's got the big.
Curry lets it fly.
Got a three.
Curry now with 20 points.
Thomas gets to the interior for the deuce.
What a great response by Cam Thomas.
Curry, swing, gets it back.
Two-man game with Payton.
He drives.
The teardrop is good.
Largest lead for Golden State has been four.
Biggest lead for the next 13.
Step in and steal.
Porter's gonna streak in and put it down.
Wolf on the move.
Shovel.
Deomen.
Rebounded by Melton.
Melton looking to go coast-to-coast.
He does with a banker.
Traore.
Give it up.
Porter forced to pass.
And Sharp rolls to the rim for two.
Four on the tie.
Ball gets knocked away.
He was trying to pass it to Sharp.
Butler leading the break.
Spencer fumbled it for a moment.
Butler gets inside and finishes.
Themselves tonight.
And our 17th lead change.
Wolf, Traore.
Pulls up.
Spending some time with the Long Island Mets
and being really productive.
Butler swings.
Spencer fakes out Wolf.
Butler gets into the paint.
And he gets it to go.
Butler against Wolf.
Spencer vacates the area.
Butler makes his move.
Fend off.
And he puts it in.
Plus one.
The Nets trail 89 to 85.
Warriors, eight lone leads
with leading after three quarters.
That's the most of the NBA.
Thomas swing.
Traore.
Bullseye.
Curry open look.
Put it on the board.
Curry.
Swing it.
Green.
Extra.
The jumper for Richard.
It goes down.
Oscar Robertson and Akeem Olajuwon in his sights.
Unbelievable.
Clowney lines up a three.
Bottom.
Seven and three in the month of December.
Waxton drives.
Kicks.
Corner.
The old man.
Up.
Cha-ching.
Get it in for Jackson Davis.
Deep one.
Pajewski with a triple.
Butler one-on-one with Claxton.
Bounce.
Melton.
Shot clock winding down.
Melton puts it up and puts it in.
103-95 Warriors.
Butler hard drive.
Cut off by Deoman.
Pajewski on the move.
Cutter.
Richard fade away.
It's good.
That's what the Warriors are so good at.
Especially with the speed.
They're going for the steal on Deoman.
No tie-up call.
They let him play.
Richard rips it away.
Davis.
Statue of Liberty dug.
Fakes on the handoff for Porter.
Drives in on Melton.
Takes it strong.
Put down by Claxton.
Will it lead to a bucket?
No.
Powell comes up short.
Claxton is there.
33, Nick Claxton.
Curry with seven to shoot against Claxton.
Curry.
Head-to-shoulder fake.
Pauses it up.
It's good.
And a foul.
Hand it to Porter.
Swing.
Claxton.
Wanted to drive it.
Melton nearly ripped it away.
Claxton saved.
Deoman.
Count it.
A three.
Next trail, 112 to 106.
Claxton on a handoff.
Deoman.
Blocked by Melton.
Fly pattern.
Melton the catch.
The fly-by and the lay-in.
And it's 114 to 106.
Another steal.
Richard takes it in.
A bounce-back win for the Warriors.
And the Nets winning streak will come to a halt.
Richard's gonna take it and make it.
And a foul.
Continuing.
Steve Kerr, Jordy Fernandez.
Everybody's cool.
Jordy was trying to tell his team,
hey, don't foul here.
I guess when Mann recognized that Richard
was gonna shoot it.
Gonna take a shot.
He was like, okay.
You're gonna get another shot.
And Porter's gonna take his shot.
120 to 107.
The Warriors defeat the Nets.
