Yani Tseng - the AIG Women's Open Champion in 2010 and 2011 - has battled injuries and a terrible loss of form in recent years, and has not made a cut in a major since 2017. She has even resorted to putting left-handed due to her struggles on the greens.
Today, the 36-year-old secured her weekend spot at Royal Porthcawl.

Thank you.
It's an amazing feeling. My heart is still pumping a little bit now.
I just feel very grateful. I didn't give up and I really want to be here.
I want to give us a chance to play until 60.
I can always come back and fight and challenge this beautiful golf course.
Link's style is always my favourite.
I'm very excited I get to play in the weekend.
Hopefully I can be more free than others and not as nervous, not as tense.
I'm just very happy now.
Yes.
I think so. I give myself hope.
I hope I can give others hope too.
You never know what's going to happen.
Maybe the success is right in front of you.
I was looking for that every day.
I work hard and I do the best I can.
I feel like it doesn't matter how things turn out.
I give 100% I can and I'm not regretting.
I feel happy to play this game.
It is hard.
I had a hip surgery for four years.
I've been off the golf.
I have been really struggling for the last 10 years.
Every time I fell down, I just feel like I love this game more.
I feel like I want to challenge.
I know I have nothing to prove myself, but I just love this game so much.
I want to be there.
I want to inspire the younger generation.
To tell them if I can do it, they can do it.
To show how much fun this game is.
To give it back and to make their dream come true.
I feel like the people around us, the team, you guys, make my dream come true.
I want to help others to have their dream come true too.
I think they will be very proud.
I'm here by myself this week actually.
I don't know.
I want to give them a call and tell them how excited I am.
Maybe when I call my mom, I'm probably going to start crying.
You should be very proud I'm sure.
Yes, hopefully.
You're obviously putting left-handed.
Can you talk about how much of a difference that makes?
Last year, I played really well, but I just can't putt.
This year, I switched to left-handed.
I can play the weekend because of that putting.
That putting saved me a lot today and yesterday.
I think it's going to do more on the weekend too.
It's definitely a game changer.
You never know.
Try everything you can.
The left putter is the one thing that I tried.
It gave me hope.
How different is this championship from when you won the IRG?
I think it's a huge difference.
The hospitality, everything, the sponsors taking care of the players.
It's been wonderful.
I had a great time in the gym, the sauna, and everything.
I feel like it's a very high standard, very high cost.
It's a major championship.
People are going to see it.
I see more fans coming out.
I went to the merchandise shop to buy some gifts for my friends.
I feel like this tournament has been growing a lot.
It's getting better and better.
Of course, the purses are amazing.
Everything outside the golf course.
I feel like they do a lot of the job to make this happen.
I'm very happy to be here.
I'm very grateful for what they've done for us.
What are your goals for the weekend?
No goals.
I'm just going to go out and grip and rip it.
I'm going to try to make as much of a birdie as I can.
Do you feel like this is the next step?
I think so.
I feel like playing on the weekend is going to give me so much confidence.
I can't wait to go out and play golf tomorrow.
To see how free I can be and to see what I can do.
