We're trying and reading international McDonald's menu items.
And we've brought in some people who might know a thing or two about travel.
Flight attendants!
Hi, my name is Sephora.
Hi, my name is Brendan.
Hi, I'm Jacob. I fly with United Airlines.
I'm loving it!
Let's hope these will serve as good layover lunch breaks.
Ooh, I see what you did there.
I'm so excited.
Thank you.
Oh, it matches your yellow a little bit too.
Yes!
Here you go.
Thank you.
ASMR.
Jamie, what country is this from?
Are you going to say Korea?
Should I know this?
Did you know this?
So it's a chicken sandwich with mozzarella stick and bacon.
I don't think that's bacon.
What is that?
It's giving, I don't know.
It's giving France.
I'm going to guess Korea.
I'm going to say Italy.
Why not?
You know what?
I think you're right because the red sauce plus this is parm.
Chicken chicken pom pom!
Is this like Jollibee and McDonald's had a baby?
Kind of.
Wait, that.
South Korea!
Korea.
I was just there too.
I've been there.
I never saw that, but.
I knew this.
It is chicken parm.
This isn't Italy?
Oh, so it's chicken and, oh my God.
Up first, we're headed to Korea.
Yay.
This is the McChicken Mozzarella, a crispy chicken sando stacked with two golden and
a spicy Arabian inspired sauce.
Arabia?
Arabian.
Okay.
So is this a spicy McChicken?
Think this will be a cheesy masterpiece or a melty monstrosity?
This is a monster.
This is like the new Frankenstein.
I think it's going to be a cheesy masterpiece.
It should hit proper.
Cheers.
Oh, cheers to our first meal together.
Yes.
Oh my God.
That's really good.
Oh my God.
The mayo gives it such a nice like hit as well with the mozzarella.
The mozzarella stick really does do a lot of heavy lifting.
I love that for him.
What's happening?
I got the mozzarella this time.
Oh, you hadn't had the mozzarella this whole time?
The first bite was good, but the second bite was better.
This is delicious.
McDonald's went international in the late 60s and every country quickly started putting
its own spin on their menu.
Thank God.
Local flavors, cultural preferences, and regional ingredients all shaped what we got served.
That's why you'll find things like seafood burgers in Asia, vegetarian staples in India,
and richer sauces in Europe.
I'm just interested in like why South Korea went chicken parm.
I'm pleasantly surprised because I feel like we don't even do chicken parm at McDonald's here.
I don't know who else would be like bold enough to add their own there, but South Korea.
No, who did that?
The McChicken mozzarella actually came out of a broader trend in Korea where mozzarella
filled street snacks like corn dogs, cheese balls, and fried cheese skewers exploded in popularity.
They said, you know what?
Surprise.
Boom.
That was it.
Just boom.
South Koreans love mozzarella sticks.
Really?
I don't know why, but if you go to any fast food joint in Korea, you're going to find
mozzarella sticks on the menu.
Can we like bring this here?
I would sign that petition in a heartbeat.
Honestly.
That would be great.
So Jacob, what is it like being a flight attendant?
You know, some people live the life internationally only.
Some people live the domestic life only.
A lot of times I'll ask for a trip because I'm on the reserve system and they'll say,
no, just come to the airport and just wait, which can be great because sometimes it's
Honolulu or sometimes it's Omaha.
The McDonald's Korea didn't plan for it to become a permanent item when it was dropped
in October of 2019, but it was so popular that they added it to their menu in January
of 2020.
Flat out.
I'm not complaining.
I love mozzarella sticks.
I don't blame you.
Me too.
That's why I'd never seen it before.
Right up until COVID, I was going to Japan, South Korea, pandemic hit as well, and I didn't
see this on the menu.
So that makes total sense now.
And I wish I was there.
I got to go back.
If someone were to bring this on board a plane, what would you think?
I'd be really happy for them and jealous at the same time.
I'll give it an 8.
But a strong, healthy 8.
I agree.
I give it an 8 too.
It's actually really good.
I love mozzarella sticks.
You know what?
I'll give it an 8.
Let's start with an 8.
It's really good.
Really good.
But I want to see what our other options are too.
Me too.
8.
I want to give it like a solid 8.
It's got a bunch of different elements in it that really work together and I love the
tomato aspect.
Yes.
Makes it sweet.
Honestly, I'm going to say a 9.
Maybe I'm being generous to start off, but that's the kind of person I am.
I love to give back.
Interesting.
That looks so good.
Is that a cheese curd?
Oh, Canada.
This looks like Canada.
My brain has gone completely blank.
What do you call this?
It's...
Amazing?
Where are we?
Great question.
We're in Great Britain.
Let's say Bulgaria.
Oh.
I want to say Hungary.
I want to keep saying France until I get France.
But I think maybe Japan.
We're putting it in our mouth because we're going to eat it.
Are you saying Canada?
Oh, that's so basic.
I might say Bulgaria.
Maybe in Canada.
Canada.
You called it.
It told us it's already Canada.
Oh, poutine.
That is the word I was looking for.
It's poutine.
Uh-huh.
Oh, that was a good shot though.
He housed that, by the way.
Okay.
Not my car.
Okay.
What do you know about poutine?
It's Canadian.
It sounds French, kind of.
From Canada, we're trying the buffalo chicken poutine.
Iconic McDonald's fries are smothered with gravy, crispy chicken, cheese curds, buffalo sauce,
and sprinkled with green onions.
Poutine is a huge part of Canadian food culture, and the buffalo chicken twist, which dropped
in July of 2014, is on Canadian menus periodically, except in Quebec, where it's a permanent fixture.
I have actually worked for a Canadian-based airline before, and I wish that they served
this on the plate.
Cheers.
I was not expecting it to be buffalo sauce, because when you think poutine, you don't
think buffalo sauce.
Oh, but that's good.
It's good.
Just the chicken alone is amazing.
The buffalo fries, fan of no matter where you go.
It hits.
Everything hits.
Here.
What noise do buffalos make?
Pretty close.
It's like a Super Bowl kind of food.
It does feel like Super Bowl food.
Okay, the buffalo hits you.
Like, not like a physical buffalo animal, like the buffalo sauce.
Excuse me, let me rephrase.
No, I liked it the first time.
Yeah, we're leaving that.
So, McDonald's is actually one of the largest buyers of cheese curds in Canada, because
of poutine.
Oh.
Good for them.
And poutine is normally made with cheese curds?
Poutine is fries, cheese curds, and gravy.
Okay.
When they release a new poutine variation, curd suppliers will literally prepare for
the demand in spikes.
McDonald's taking care of the economy.
I love that for them.
I would drive over the border just to grab something and come back.
You know what?
Yeah, I get it.
Yeah, if I lived up there.
That said, a large order of these.
How many calories do you think it is?
1,100.
I don't want to know.
1,200.
No, I think it's going to be like...
1,600?
It's giving like 680.
980.
1,000.
2,020.
Oh, absolutely not.
Good.
Yum.
Did you just try to...
Yeah, I did.
Price is right me?
And I was close, too.
Actually, I won.
I was close.
2,000.
That's my food intake.
That's a lot of calories, but if you don't eat for the rest of the day, you can eat this.
You're good.
There's starch.
There's protein.
I see vegetables.
And any type of like hot sauce will help boost your metabolism.
So this, this could go.
If a passenger were to bring something yummy on a plane and offered you some, are you allowed
to have it?
Absolutely.
Oh.
Had a passenger come on board.
They wrote a thank you card and they said, we wish we could give you more money, but
here's a hundred grand.
And it was a chocolate bar.
And I was like, come on.
Like the creativity.
So cute.
The thought is like beyond.
So cute.
Respect, politeness, manners.
It goes a long way.
And you're like, but next time put a hundred grand.
The funniest story is me trying to like serve this person who was hard of seeing.
And I was like, mm, looks delicious.
And they go, I wish.
I wish it looked good.
And I was like, oh, okay.
My bad.
Are you traveling to Canada to get this?
Yes, I will be.
Actually.
So rating this, I would give it an eight.
It's all really good, but the buffalo sauce kind of hits me a little bit too much, but
it's still really good.
I'm going to give it a seven.
I don't normally love gravy, but gravy on poutine is so good.
If we switch buffalo sauce out for maybe like barbecue sauce, it would hit a nine.
So that's like really the, it's the measure.
I give it an eight.
I love buffalo sauce and I like cheese.
I could go seven because we have buffalo chicken, like fries here.
So to compete with, you know, America, I don't think they measured up, but this was still
clearly a banger.
I'm going to give this a five only because for calories, it's not worth it for me.
Oh, I just forgot about the calories.
I give this a six.
It's my cheat meal.
It's a cheat meal.
But I don't think I can eat this all the time.
You know, I just want the cheese curds.
I'll just take the cheese curds with that.
Honestly, that's the best part.
That's all I want.
That was the, that's what sold me.
Mm, so good.
Something fried.
Okay.
Oh, this is fish.
I can smell this.
This is a fishy fish.
They're little fishies.
Just keep swimming.
It's shrimp.
It smells like shrimp.
French shrimp.
Swim away.
British.
The British.
I'm already calling it.
The British.
This has to be.
Is it bad for me to say Japan again?
It's not France.
It's Japan.
Right.
Because yeah, the fish, that's such a cute little Japan thing, right?
Argentina.
Norway.
Singapore.
Oh, I love the cute box he has too.
They have fish nuggets there.
Fishy nugs.
Whoa.
So they do that there?
I would have never guessed that.
Singapore.
Next, we're stopping in Singapore for their brand new fish nuggets.
They look like regular McNuggets, but inside is a tender Alaskan pollock instead of chicken
wrapped in that same signature crispy shell.
Will this feel like a clever twist or a bait-and-switch?
This feels bait-and-switchy.
I don't know about this.
Alaskan pollock?
It's a type of white fish.
And it's also served with honey mustard.
Perfect.
Very good.
I'm going to feel zero guilt when I bite off your head.
I think the video lied.
This still feels somehow British.
To be fair, Singapore was aformally British.
They were.
Oh, they were.
You know what?
I'm blaming it.
Colonialism.
Yep.
That did it.
Mmm.
That is good.
Real good.
It's like fluffy.
This is good.
Mm-hmm.
This is interesting.
I mean, it's good.
How do you feel about it being served with honey mustard?
It's not my first choice in dip, but.
What would be your first condiment choice?
Tartar sauce.
That's the people's biggest complaint, is that they want tartar sauce,
but it's only served with barbecue, honey mustard, or curry sauce.
Tourists.
They're trying to make it like a nugget.
They're trying to not make you believe that it's a fish, even though it's fish.
Would you take this over a chicken McNugget?
Yes.
You sound crazy.
Yes, I would.
And I would bring it on the plane, too.
You're a villain.
Yes, I would.
What's the worst thing that you've ever had to serve?
Nothing that smells bad.
Just the salads.
I feel like they're just so bleh.
So the Filet-O-Fish was actually the first non-hamburger menu item
to debut at McDonald's.
It debuted in Cincinnati in 1962.
Do you know why fish is cheaper?
I don't know.
I can't tell you.
Because of wartime.
The great beef shortage of 1962.
Religion.
Oh.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh.
Catholics don't eat meat on Fridays.
During Lent.
And this was also brought about so that they could serve something during Lent.
Well, amen to that.
Thank you, Catholics, for this wonderful meal today.
Oh, that's really nice.
Yeah.
They should have started in Massachusetts.
Go to Maryland with all the Catholics.
Are there a lot of Catholics in Maryland?
I know that's why it was founded.
Maryland was established in the 1630s by Lord Baltimore
to provide religious freedoms for Catholics.
Yay!
I was not making that up.
I'm from Indiana.
I'm not even from that area.
So I used to work on cruise ships,
and I remember in our cafeteria on the cruise ship,
they literally had fish heads.
Like, multiple fish heads.
Just for you to grab.
It wasn't something that I was used to.
I'm more used to this.
So the eyeballs of fish actually have a little jelly around them
that is very high in nutrients.
It's good for your skin.
I had no idea.
Okay.
Fish cheeks are also really yummy.
Fish cheeks?
Really?
Yeah.
Fish have cheeks?
I guess so.
Why would a fish not have a cheek?
Cheek to cheek.
What would it look like if it didn't have a side of its face?
That's a good point.
I'd give this, like, a 6.
I'd give it a 5, yeah.
It's good.
Throw in tartar sauce.
It's a 5.
It's a 6.
Yeah, throw in the tartar sauce.
I'm an 8 here.
I'll give it a 7.
You know what you're getting.
They didn't think, like, too outside of the box.
They're just like, oh, never seen this before.
But it's cute.
I don't do kawaii.
I do hawaii.
Ha ha ha.
I would rate these at an 8.
I'm there with you.
Also an 8.
I like the texture.
I like the taste.
But if I'm kind of in, like, a grab-and-go mood,
I don't know if I would be like, ooh, give me the fish nuggets.
Tartar sauce can just go take a hike.
The sauce is so much better.
Ooh, I'm excited.
This is a chalky one.
That's what I call a sandwich.
Is that egg?
It's a beet burger.
Is that egg or mozzarella?
No, that's egg.
Is it a beet?
It's a beet.
Give me a beet.
Did Dwight Schrute give you a sandwich and eggs?
Hello?
Is this Russia?
As soon as I saw the egg, and I immediately thought, like, Japan or Korea.
Me too.
Right?
But then the beet threw me off.
I'll say Romania.
You say Deutschland.
I don't know.
Don't say USA.
You think this is from France?
No, she's going to say Japan.
I'm going there tomorrow.
Wait, this is really good.
Oh, they got bangers.
This is a great ad.
No, it's so good.
The graphics from, like, 1995 are killing me.
And it's the accent that does it for me.
Wow.
Oh, kiwi.
Oh, my God.
It's a kiwi burger.
I love that commercial.
Can we watch it again?
Is it kiwi burger because you guys are kiwis?
The sad thing is that I thought the accent was Russian just because you said it.
I was like, yes, I'm believing this right now.
We are headed to New Zealand for their limited edition kiwi burger.
I'm so excited.
It's a beef patty topped with a cheese, fried egg, beetroot, lettuce, tomato, onions, mustard, and ketchup.
It's McDonald's take on the classic New Zealand style burger, the kind you'd find at local takeaway shops long before McDonald's arrived.
And this burger has quite the cult following.
So it's a cult.
Is it still being served?
So this was a permanent menu item from 1991 to 2004.
And now it'll pop up as a limited edition thing from time to time.
That's so cool.
I love a good beef, but would I have thought to put it on an egg on a burger?
Like, no.
Well, you're going to try it now.
I'm so excited.
Also, I like that you said it's from a takeaway place because that's what we call it in South Africa, too.
Cheese.
That is a real mix of flavors.
Wow.
It's very creamy.
McDonald's burger has a strong taste, so I thought the beet wouldn't be that overpowering.
Yeah.
But that's a strong beet.
Fill it with meat in this burger and the egg.
It just makes sense.
I think if we took out the egg and tomato, I would be a lot happier.
It doesn't feel as cohesive together.
I think I like that mess.
This one's a little messy, but it's good.
I would like if the beet was more beady.
Yeah, if it was more beady, but then, like, it hits you later.
How do you stay so, like, perfect and stunning and beautiful while doing, especially, like, on those long-haul flights?
Oh, I don't.
Some of us will, like, bring, like, bonnets and, like, toothbrushes, take out our contacts, take care of ourselves before going to sleep.
I personally am too lazy for all of that.
I will go, and I will just go to sleep, and I'll sleep like this, like I'm in a coffin.
Now I'm not trying to find a man on a plane, so I'm good.
People liked the burger.
It became a nationwide obsession because of the commercial.
That's fair.
That was a good commercial.
I forgot about the commercial for a second.
How could you forget?
I'm still hearing the beet.
Oh, my gosh, that's a nine.
If I go to New Zealand and I hear that commercial, I might order this again.
The jiggle's amazing.
I'm, like, weird.
Bring that back.
I'll give it an eight.
I'll give it an eight with the commercial.
That commercial sold me.
I'll give this an eight, too.
Yeah.
This is, like, a solid burger.
If I was in New Zealand and that came on...
I would eat this all the time.
I would eat this a lot.
I'll give it a nine because I really like how big it was.
I'm going to give it a seven because this is more than edible, but there definitely was a lot of room for things that I would change personally.
I would rate this a six.
I personally would never decide to put all that together, but love that the Kiwis love it.
I'd give it a seven.
I rarely have any type of burger, even breakfast, with egg in it.
I thought the egg gave it a creamy quality, almost.
The beet didn't bother me at all.
It was actually really into the beet.
We're getting dessert.
Oh, I hope it's not apple.
Apple pie.
I think it's apple.
Who likes apple pie?
The British?
Uh-huh.
This smells so good.
It does smell good.
I think it's banana.
This is, like, banana and cinnamon, no?
I don't know.
This is banana.
You're giving me a banana pie?
I'm going to say Brazil.
Brazil?
Okay.
Do they grow bananas in Brazil?
This also gives Europe.
I'm going to say South Africa, because for some reason, the bananas remind me of Africa.
I'm going to say the Dominican Republic.
Ooh.
Since we're saying Brazil and Europe, you want to do, like, Portugal, because they're
both Portuguese, kind of?
Okay.
Yeah.
Banana shakes, amazing.
Catching me eat a plain banana is insanity, because it's literally just, like, a more
solid pudding.
If you think about it, like, as plantains, it might help.
That's the same thing.
It's either apple or pear.
I have no idea, though.
I think it's, like, a mix.
A banana pie?
It is banana.
You said banana.
You were so right.
How did you taste apple and pear for a second?
Brazil.
One of our answers was right, kind of.
Kind of close, technically speaking.
Now we're headed to Izzy R's home country, Brazil, for the torta de banana, basically
McDonald's apple pie, but with a warm, sweet banana filling tucked inside that same crackly,
bubbly crust.
You know I love me my tortas.
This is a seasonal offering, so it's not always available.
Will this feel like a tropical upgrade, or should they have left the apple alone?
Cheers.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh.
Oh, yeah.
It's good.
Everything's good to me.
Izzy, I love you to death.
Why do we have this here?
What are we doing?
This with a little bit of ice cream would be incredible, even some cinnamon on top.
Oh, my gosh.
I don't want to say this to America, but I like it better than the apple.
Bananas actually aren't native to Brazil.
Where are they from, or how did they get there?
They walked?
No.
Somewhere in Africa.
Is it Jamaica?
Central America?
Central America.
Okay, I'm going to guess the Portuguese brought them over.
By boat.
I'm going to guess maybe from Africa.
Yes, by boat, Jamie.
They weren't on my flight.
You are both correct.
By boat?
Bananas are Southeast Asia and Central Africa, and the Portuguese brought them to South America.
For a split second, I thought you were going to say South Africa.
I was like, what?
Now, Brazil's one of the world's leading banana producers, though.
Wow.
We love that for them.
Australia also had a super popular banana pie featured for a limited run as a collaboration
with a movie franchise.
What movie?
Curious George.
Australia.
Madagascar.
Donkey Kong?
Planet of the Apes?
Banana.
The movie was called Banana?
The Minions.
Minions!
Oh!
Why did we both say Curious George?
Ooh, banana.
Oh, Minions!
Curious George?
Oh, duh.
I don't know how else to say it.
Yellow, yellow.
There you go.
Yay, I got something right finally.
I'm mad you looked me in my soul and went, banana.
Sorry, that was a little for Martine.
That's all right.
That was a layup for Martine.
She's like, banana.
I was staring at her hard waiting for her to get that.
They did it with Despicable Me 4.
That's not it.
I'm a minion.
They had a bunch of banana-themed items, including a banana caramel McFlurry and a banana caramel
pie.
All the caramel.
Give.
Sign me up.
Whoa.
I would fly to Australia for that.
I would fly for that.
I'm going to give this an eight because I want ice cream, whipped cream, cinnamon, and like
two more of these.
I could see McFlurry made out of the torta di banana.
In the realm of McDonald's pies, this is a 10.
I prefer this a lot more to the apple, which is normally number one.
I would give this a nine though in like the dessert realm.
I think it's wonderful.
I say seven because I like that it tastes like plantains, even though it's bananas.
It's not bad.
I'm going to rate this a six just so Izzy doesn't assault me next time she sees me.
It cleared five.
Hooray.
Ten.
No explanation.
Ten.
You can't taste it, but like it's really good.
It's really good.
Just trust us.
Believe us.
Go to Brazil.
Brought to you by the Brazil Trusted Board of Tourism.
Good slide.
Coming in hot.
We're getting another burger.
Looks vegetarian almost.
It does look vegetarian.
It looks very American.
Okay.
We got mustard.
We got ketchup.
What are you seeing?
Is this vegetarian?
Oh, like an Impossible Burger?
Yes.
I could see that.
India.
I'm going to say Indian.
I was just going to say Indian.
I'm going to say Indian.
I was just going to say India.
It's either India or Sweden.
You know what?
I'm doubling down.
This is India.
There's a different type of sauce in there.
Mustard.
Vegan.
I just said Sweden.
It's really delicious.
And you can tell that it's not greasy.
It's not greasy.
He's right.
Real veggies in it.
What are your thoughts on the McVegan?
That's why it tasted different.
It's the McVegan.
Good for them.
I'm happy they have one.
We should have one in Los Angeles.
We should.
I love a McVegan.
In terms of a burger, that's just a meat alternative.
I'm a big fan.
From Finland and Sweden, this sandwich starts with a plant-based patty topped with tomato,
pickles, lettuce, and a vegan McFeast sauce.
It's one of McDonald's most successful meatless launches, but will it taste like a true burger
or a menu compromise?
See, the reason I went with Sweden.
India, I feel like they would use beans and more spices, but when I smelled this, there
was no spice.
You're like, it's got to be Europe.
It's got to be Europe.
I wouldn't have guessed vegan.
I just thought there was a different sauce in there.
Cheers.
Cheers, darling.
Yes.
I like all the sauces.
We got ketchup.
We got mustard.
The sauce is great, but the patty is really good.
There is nothing on that, isn't there?
Well, a veggie burger was on the Swedish McDonald's menu for over 10 years, but it wasn't a popular
item for meat eaters or vegetarians.
Yeah, it's not that good.
This is?
So the head of Sweden's food and menu strategy was like, it's because the burger isn't good
enough.
Wow.
I agree.
I'm sorry.
Oh, this is the improved version.
So he went and partnered with a Swedish plant-based meat company called Nama to make his own patty.
How bad was it before?
I know.
Now I'm like, they must have been in drywall.
I'm glad they did that.
Because like I said, sometimes you get something that's a little mystery substitute meaty.
And this is, it's got a nice consistency to it all around.
Yeah.
I'll give you your credit.
It's, it's very close, but this reminds me of like my mom's stuffing on Thanksgiving
and she loads it with olives and it's just too overbearing and that's all I'm picking
up.
So there's like olives in this 1000%.
Finland and Sweden have some of the highest per capita plant-based consumption rates in
Europe.
I'm so proud of them.
That is fantastic.
Good for the environment.
Good for their bodies.
They just seem on the forefront of like life, quality of life.
I would say, are there a lot of people that order like the vegetarian or like vegan meal
options on flights?
If they pre-order.
Yes.
I forgot.
I'm doing, I'm here as a flight attendant.
Yes.
Yeah.
So we do have a vegan option.
We have a couple of them actually.
So as long as you pre-order, we'll have that option fully available.
I'm going to give it an eight.
It's really good.
A little bit sloppy.
I will say I've got some on myself, but that's okay.
That means it's good if you get it on yourself, actually.
I'm going to give it an eight as well.
I wasn't sure that it was vegan when I looked at it.
A really good vegan burger is when you look at it and you're like, is that meat?
This is better than the banana.
So I have to put you in the same category.
You're a six.
I can't put you that far.
That sounds crazy.
I like the pickle.
I'm going to give it a seven.
The pickle is good.
Cause they did a good job.
They got you.
Yeah.
I'm going to give it a five just because now vegans have rights.
Now they have rights.
Now they have rights to enjoy a meal with that.
The sauce was good.
Okay.
I give it a five too.
The sauce is a seven.
The burger was a three.
I'm not good with math.
That feels like an average.
Snuggies!
Oh my Lord.
I'm so excited.
Why is this a triangle?
See, this says Japan.
Does it?
Yeah.
Should we take a big sniff?
Oh, that does smell good.
I'm very intrigued.
I'm like, okay, is it going to be cheese?
Is it going to be a vegetable?
I'm like, I'm going to guess that it's something like a mac and cheese.
This is from France for sure.
Okay.
You sound crazy.
I'm going to guess either Philippines or Britain right now.
Cheers!
Mac and cheese?
You're right.
I love wine.
Who, who thought of this?
Thank you.
It's like every four year old's dream.
It's my dream.
UAE!
Oh!
Ah, okay.
Why aren't we doing this?
I love it.
Like some cheese triangles.
Let's get it.
They're cooking.
This is good.
Is this their official ad or is this a TikTok?
Because this is a little banger.
They make it look so good.
Oh my gosh.
Why aren't we doing this?
What happened?
Where did we go wrong?
Next, we are headed to the UAE for their mac and cheese triangles.
These are little fried pockets of creamy macaroni and cheese wrapped in crispy breadcrumb shells.
They were only available for six weeks, but they made such a big splash with mixed reviews.
They show up in share boxes overseas.
So will they taste like real comfort food or more like a school cafeteria flashback?
Comfort food.
I've been missing that actually.
Change of game.
It's so good.
I would not eat this in school because we don't have this quality.
It's the outer shell being so crunchy.
Crispy.
Yum.
That and then the fact that the inside is so warm.
It's not giving cafeteria food.
This tastes like real cheese.
This tastes like good quality, real authentic, really, really good cheese.
This is good.
I feel like this would be good with the honey mustard for me.
I don't know.
Ketchup.
I would dip macaroni and cheese in ketchup, you know?
I would prefer ranch to dip it.
How did you like the ketchup with it?
I would never be like, hey, I'm at home.
Let me put some ketchup on my mac and cheese.
Maybe some people do that.
I do.
Do you?
I make everything.
Where do you want to go?
Or where have you not been that you really want to see?
I really want to go to China.
But only because I took German in high school, I want to go to Deutschland.
All of the UAE's McDonald's menus are 100% halal.
And chicken is a lot easier to source under halal constraints.
So if you're at a McDonald's in the UAE, you'll see a much more chicken-dominant menu.
With chicken replacing all the pork-based breakfast items like sausage and McMuffins.
That's amazing.
Honestly, I'm ready to go to the UAE.
Have you been before?
I have been to Kuwait.
I haven't been to Dubai or anything like that.
It's very quiet.
I feel like Americans, we're loud.
We're listening to music.
Or even on the airplane, wear your headphones.
No, they don't exist.
Over there, people are very respectful.
Respect people's privacy and space and stuff like that.
It's very interesting there.
Cheese-based snacks are huge in the UAE.
On their rotating menu, they have jalapeno cheese bites and also a halloumi McMuffin.
A what McMuffin?
Halloumi.
Halloumi is a type of cheese.
It's a firmer cheese.
And a cheese McMuffin.
That sounds so good.
What are we doing?
I'm giving this a 9.
Honestly, I don't think it would change anything.
I'm going to give it a 10.
I know.
Oh, I love that.
I know.
I don't want to be that generous again, but I wouldn't change anything.
This definitely feels like an elevated craft mac and cheese, so to speak.
Yeah.
But still, frying it.
I loved it with ketchup.
I have no problem.
I'll give it a graceful 8 for the concept, because I do like the shape.
I'm going to give it a 6.
It's fried, and it's mac and cheese, and it's pretty impressive the way they were able to
put this in this little triangle.
10.
These are great.
This is a 10.
It's a 10 for you?
It's a 10.
Okay, Nicole.
I'm so...
Oh, my God.
There's Pop Rocks in here.
This is already a 10.
This is a 10.
I don't even care.
I don't care what it tastes like.
This is a 10.
It's not Crackle Pop.
What else is it, though?
What are they called?
Baja Breeze?
But this is McDonald's version?
Yes.
Or is this like toothpaste?
This is gorgeous.
There's Pop Rocks.
I'm thinking Italy.
Caribbean?
Italy.
Is that cotton candy?
Is it cotton candy?
I don't know.
It's good.
I'm going to say this is something fun like Italy.
I'll go with Italy.
Yeah, sure.
We're going to go with Italy.
Malaysia.
So cool.
First of all, they have the Oreo pie.
She's right.
Yeah, 10 out of 10.
Easy little man.
Oh, that is so cute.
That's exactly how I'm going to feel once I have one.
That's how I feel every time I have popping candy.
That's fair.
Yeah.
I'm just so cute.
Same.
Yeah.
Oh my God.
And for our sweet ending, we're flying to Malaysia for their Poppin' Candy McFlurry.
It takes their vanilla soft serve and mixes in fizzy candy that crackles like pop rocks.
This was just a limited time offering this past October of 2025.
Is this going to feel like a fun hint of childhood or way too much happening in one cup?
Feels like childhood.
I love it.
There's a lot happening and a happy childhood.
I could see it two in one.
And you know what's making me the happiest?
No.
The McDonald's ice cream machine is working!
Amen.
Like that never happens.
It's that scene from Ratatouille where the dude tries the Ratatouille and then he gets zoomed back into his childhood.
You know what I'm talking about?
Do you hate this, Doc?
Not a fan.
It's great flavor.
The theatrics, you could kind of say, ah!
I'm speechless.
This is so good.
This dessert was offered as part of Malaysia's A New Twist initiative,
which also included a green curry burger that was available with Fish or Crispy Chicken as well as Tom Yum shaker fries.
Oh, that sounds so good.
Tom Yum.
I want a shaker fry now.
This is good, though.
It's great.
I just want this done.
Malaysia McDonald's is known for their experimental McFlurries.
Some recent creations included green tea.
They also made one with Sempedak, a type of local jackfruit, sea salt, and even durian.
I have no idea what that is.
Durian's the worst!
Of course they have a durian one.
Durian is punishment on this channel.
It's almost like an over-ripened...
Fart.
Huh?
Fart.
Fart?
I'll pass on that one.
But everything else was amazing.
The durian McFlurry was actually so popular it sold out in 2017 with them promising they would try to get more the next year.
I would just like to know if those people and I align at all in our palate preference, you know?
Like, if we do, could I get to the point of liking durian?
Stop trying to make durian happen.
It's not gonna happen.
It's a 10 for me.
Especially with the Pop Rocks.
The blue thingy is, like, frosty.
Like, syrupy.
Yeah.
And I love that.
I like the flavor.
I can give it a 9.
I really do not like the theatrics of it.
I'm gonna rate this Poppin' Candy McFlurry a 9 out of 10.
I'm giving it a 10.
Good.
Yeah.
Love a good McFlurry.
Obsessed with Pop Rocks.
So, like, all of the things.
Yeah.
12 out of 10.
I love cotton candy.
I give this a 10.
Give it a 10.
Yeah, I'll give it a 10 out of 10.
I'm also biased because I was born in Malaysia.
Were you?
I was.
I'm not Malaysian, but I was born in Malaysia and the only thing my mom could eat and stomach
when she was about to give birth to me was McDonald's in Malaysia.
Every time I go to McDonald's, I'll always get, like, a McChicken because that's all she could eat.
Do you ever just, like, eat a McChicken and be like, I remember this from somewhere?
It's when I was a fetus.
This feels right.
Um, well, that does it for today.
We've tallied up the scores.
And no surprise, the Poppin' Candy McFlurry was everyone's favorite of the day.
This is the best one so far.
Duh.
This is...
This is so good.
This is not your favorite.
Get out.
If we had this, this would sell out.
You guys have good taste.
This is good.
Yeah, it's really good.
The Mac and Cheese Triangles from UAE came in second.
Really?
That's really good.
They need that in America so bad.
Please, somebody do it.
Oh, my God.
Those were really good.
You don't even have to try it.
I'm not arguing.
You don't even have to try it.
It looks good.
You know it's good.
Based on this taste test, which country are you definitely hitting in your next McDonald's
adventure?
Malaysia.
The UAE.
Honestly, I'd go to Dubai.
I want to go to Dubai.
And also, special thanks to our PVF members.
