happy new year i hope that you guys all had a good holiday season we had a lot going on um we
went to mexico to visit my in-laws and after that my husband got really sick and i had to like hold
the fort on my own now we're back to normal this week is finally when my son went back to school
he went back to work and we're finally ready to tackle on more projects i know a lot of you guys
have been requesting like a updated living room tour or house tour i'm not going to do a house
tour because there's still a lot to work on but i am going to share with you guys today the living
room obviously by the title you already know that and i'm so excited because i finally finished i
think there's nothing that i want to change so far i feel like i love how it's turned out and
i hope you do too enough of the rambling let's go ahead and get into the video okay guys i firstly
want to let you guys know that this is not a how-to video because this was really really hard
for me to do i cannot explain it i barely even know how i figured it out on my own to be honest
i watched videos but i kind of went based off of what i thought it would be like so i suggest that
you watch videos that it could be easier for you to understand i kind of had a little idea though
because i had already done noah's room but like i said the math is really hard the purpose behind
the reframing of the fireplace was only because i wanted an outlet on the fireplace because i
actually had to hang or not hang but plug the tv to the wall and you would see the ugly cord
hanging that really really bothered me and didn't look clean and my husband finally tackled this
project which by the way this was always our intention the time that we spackled or covered
the fireplace the time before was just temporary and it looks so good i'm so happy with it
actually like this color here and i would have left it like that um but it won't be even with
the bottom um because we did patch a little bit on the sides so now it would be patchy and i want
it to be cohesive so i have to paint it i actually could not find for the life of me the other brush
one that i used for the bathroom for the faux lime wash and i ended up having to pick this up
on order pickup from lowes so i didn't get to see it in person and you guys i do not like this brush
it's like like a broom so i really felt like i was sweeping my fireplace rather than painting it
so i highly suggest that you do purchase the other one which i will link down below i really
tried my hardest to work with it also the whole lime wash situation project is honestly really
hard as a perfectionist to achieve but i tried my best it actually works better when you use
flat paint so i actually went with the darker color first added a little bit of water kind of
make it watery but not too watery so it doesn't drip and basically brushed it all in crisscross
motion throughout the whole fireplace for the second color i ended up going with the white
which is the same white as my walls i did water it a little we don't want to water too much remember
no drips and also then just do crisscross motions to kind of blend it in you basically have to like
try to blend it but not smooth it out or paint over it it's really not that hard it's time i
really need to finish this living room i was going to say wall but the wall is done but
i now need to continue to this so let's get started first off this is not a tutorial because
it's hard to explain one thing that i am going to say it's hard when it comes to the math of like
having panels evenly spaced throughout a wall it's really hard i'm not gonna lie but when it's
one wall it's super easy because all you have to worry about is the spacing from the wall and the
spacing from the ceiling the spacing from the floor and then the spacing in between the bottom
and top panels what i'm gonna do now before i start is just the prep part which is marking
exactly where six inches are throughout the wall because that will then help me move a little bit
quicker when i'm nailing for the next diy i thought that i would revamp my existing ottoman
i was actually inspired by this really pretty ottoman from lolo interiors this one is actually
made out of real alpaca but i did not of course get that i this is what i found at hobby lobby
and i thought the fabric was really pretty and it still gives like that fur look which i really
really loved by the way using a faux fur actually helps you get away with the whole up fostering
part of it because i'm not an expert but it was really easy to hide like the seams versus like
the one that i previously had done i thought that i was finished with this whole makeover and then
i thought that my sofa needed a little bench behind it so i'm gonna diy kind of like a similar
option to a skinny bench but i'm gonna use a 10 inch board instead of like the super skinnier one
so here all i'm doing is trying to age the board obviously i cut it to size and now i just need to
make it look as aged as possible this was actually really hard to do there's so many videos out there
of how you can actually achieve this you guys as a perfectionist it's really really hard for me to
do this or to do these kind of things aren't you guys already know that about me now i'm also going
to do a whitewash because i want it a little bit cooler the bench is really warm right now i don't
like the orangey look so all i'm doing is watering down a little bit of paint and i actually used the
color accessible beige by sherwin williams and all i did was add water and now i'm using the sponge
to kind of paint it and then going back with another rag and wiping it off it just kind of
washes it out a little bit after i whitewashed it i felt like it needed a little bit more of an
look so i actually ended up using this age glaze i think it is i think it's called it's from
rust-oleum and i am also dabbing it with a sponge and then going back and wiping it off and i
actually love the way that this look i was really really scared about it but i love the end result
guys i wanted to talk to you guys about these lights um they're kind of like a spotlight kind
not like your typical recessed lighting and they're a little smaller and actually a lot
deeper so that they create that effect i don't know if you can tell but what i like about these
is that they leave kind of like a spot effect kind of like you see right here and i love that
ambience i've wanted to do this for a really long time i will actually compare it to like restaurant
bathrooms i love or just restaurants like some restaurants in general have like this kind of
and i thought it was so pretty and moody which is why i ended up buying these and my husband
installed them for us and they look so so good i will link them um in the description box for you
as in case you like this kind of effect and my favorite is just like the vibe that it gives like
these vessels whatever you guys want to call them planters and it kind of like creates like a
you know like a spot moment well that is all for today's episode thank you guys so much for
watching i really really appreciate you if you enjoyed this video please give me a thumbs up
and let me know what you liked about it what was your favorite part of the makeover and of course
make sure to subscribe if you haven't already and with that being said i'll see you guys next time
