Hey YouTube family Today I'm visiting a location that some of my followers sent me a while ago
I truly appreciate it so much because I didn't expect it to be this big and when I arrived I was genuinely surprised
As always the roads of Asturias
credible I highly recommend diving into Deep Asturias because the trails are phenomenal—you'll discover breathtaking landscapes and a
ature some plants and some animals that are absolutely
spectacular I've come on this route and honestly I've loved it
Like all of them I just love every single one I make but
anyway I'm going to show you right now what I came across
As always I must say beforehand that if you'd like to support me and help the channel continue moving forward
Follow me on social media—links are below—and subscribe to the channel which is completely free and really helps me out
If you leave a comment you'd be awesome—no need to say more but hey
I hope you understand on that point that this is the only way to support me on YouTube and allow YouTube to keep growing and reaching more of us
People and that way I can make more videos so I won't drag this on any further—let's get into it
The first thing that greeted us upon arriving in this town village as it's quite
large—trust me I didn't expect it to have so many houses—is this little gem
You can already see how the entrance is
There's a house a barn over there Well let's gradually approach and I'll show you step by step
rying to tell you everything I'm seeing okay Because I did take a quick look beforehand to check what I was going to show you
As I was saying and well I was pleasantly surprised
There's certainly livestock here because the pastures are still being used and in fact there are cows right in this very meadow
Well look here this would be the first block we come across
Up there they'd have the grass and the house with a lovely porch
Look at this huge hallway he had a laundry room downstairs and well this house I think it's closed I'm not sure we'll check it out properly later
whether we can take a look or not because as always I don't like forcing anything or breaking anything I'd just like to see if the door
It's open I'm just trying to show you a little bit and if not then not I've already seen it was closed before so it'll just stay that way
Closed but still I wanted to show you the house so you could see what it's like
She looks quite beautiful to me—look at this little cow here as I was saying there are still some ranchers who exploit these pastures
There are nearby villages and that's what's not entirely clear to me—why this place was left abandoned That said access is definitely very poor
Well we have a date written on the wall there that is
1973 so you can get an idea of roughly when this last house could have been built or constructed atop another
Probably the oldest one since the house looks older than 1973
Well here's a tricky one—the door is on the inside of the property and the property is locked up for the cows so no way in
I'm not going in to see what's inside
there was another door here I don't know if it's open—let's check
No it's closed so nothing—we won't be able to see inside this place at all
This house truly collapsed—right here another street entered which we' re
now going to see the house I showed you earlier from a different angle
and well I'm not sure exactly where to begin—whether to start from the top and show you that part first then move to the bottom or
Alright let's go this way so I can show you that little spot I've already opened up
This was another house that had already collapsed—I might be able to show you
something through the window but look at how everything's overgrown with nettles
I'm going to turn on a little light to see what we can make out
It seems this was
A room look there are still basins well little kitchen items
A little leak but the roof is really in bad shape—it's collapsing because the back side here has already given way
Well it's not very safe to enter this one so I'll try showing you something from the other remaining ones in town
Going in there seems a bit risky and this door is locked
the stable was right here next door
It's incredible because I truly didn't expect there to be so much behind this the village continues upward
loo
In this corner things are indeed
preserved as you can see—every
farming tool livestock equipment and cattle prods
are still here
I see baskets over there—ones we find everywhere
with a kind of mattress
Yes it looks like a well-made hand-sewn old mattress with farming supplies scattered around here
sogas good a little bit the typical the typical image we come across in a
In a moment here's another door—well I think it's good yes this one's locked I can see the padlock on it
And we will respect it exactly as it is
Well there's the overview of the street we're leaving behind
There was another block here
You can already see it's completely covered wow this path is terrible with all these stones
This house is almost completely covered by this bush now
but anyway there was once a here
For the grass a bird behind which we'll see through the alleyway at the bac
And this little house is great it's almost done with the corridor
And down here look you can still make out the entrance to the stable
I don't know if we'll see much but there was a small animal enclosure here
As you can see the upper part of the house has already collapsed this village is in pretty bad shape but outside it's extremely beautiful
Look there was another house there
There's another path here that leads down to a nearby village
The truth is it's truly precious—look this is the house we're entering now which is actually open and I’ll be able to show it to you
just look at what we managed to see
I'm going to turn on as much light as I can
Since the floor is like that it's clear it's in pretty bad shape
and the ceiling too look at how it is
But anyway I think that's built on land as far as I can tell yes
yes I do believe I can show you something
I'm going to step carefully along the edges of the house so I
can show you this part here which I
believe is the kitchen—yes it is the kitchen
What to look at—this whole sheet is still here phew the floor is in terrible shape
I stumble
over everything because it's really bad but look—
Above there was no plant upper
And well I don't really
see it either but I do see
bottles—well the usual things
you'd find in a kitchen here
And a little more look here
at the little cabinet they
had to store this bottle which
seems to be anise yes anise
marabú anise-flavored marabú
— I'd never seen it before
And here I imagine you'd access the corridor—well you can see
the floor here is quite bad I'm going to step over there where it's somewhat better
No this door is completely collapsed from the house's collapse and
there was another room back there—I wanted to show you what's inside
I imagine this would have been a room and well it collapsed toward the block and little by little we'll see what's here
so nothing good at least something
From one of the houses we have been able to see
I'm going to secure this properly because someone left it like this and I'm worried a cow or some other animal might slip through
At the very least no animal is going to be hung
at's happened to me before in the previous video when we found a wild boar in a kitchen poor thing had gotten in and didn't know how to get ou
Let's take a look at this one here
Good this wasn't a residence—it was a corral and it's nicely enclosed here with
these wooden planks and we won't see anything else anyway just a corral
We're going to take this street back here
and we'd be walking down the parallel street the one we just
saw and I'm going to show you the birdhouse I mentioned earlier
There's another house there
ere's another path going up there
I imagine it leads to some other high
-altitude village up there or maybe directly to tend to the livestock
Now when we see this one here we go down
that street and return to where we started
Well the village is in pretty bad shape—see how this used to be another street going in
there now completely blocked behind it is the house I won’t be able to reach because it’s in terrible condition
That was the stable I mentioned to you
This is the other path that winds between chestnut and hazelnut trees
He looks absolutely stunning I
mean this town is really something
Look how the path is—everything 's
covered in loose stones
You step wrong and send everything crashing down
I think we can also see something in
this house if I just peek over here
You see how she's surrounded by ferns
but this one looks super
tiny from
outside just loo
Good the floor is tiled and quite solid Here look there 's
a little window with a view of the street down there
at had the tile likely where they cooked in the kitche
where they were preparing the kitchen floor tiles
It's definitely made of something I don't know what but it looks like tile and
here they've still preserved the old way
of hanging sausages and the butchering area
And here they told me this was for hanging water— they brought it in cauldrons and hung it right here
If anyone knows what it was used for or had another purpose please leave a comment
—because that's what I was told though it doesn't necessarily have to be true
And here there was a room
This house was super small—one room one kitchen—just the
block over the one we saw here on the left and that’s about it
The truth is this village is enormous—satellite view doesn't make it seem
that big but of course it's completely hidden by vegetation rooftops and trees
Well then leaving aside this little house we've just seen so tiny
There's another street the one I mentioned earlier when were walking down below—this is the little alley that goes up
From above let's go this way since
we're already here—take a look
at the birdhouse I mentioned with the little entrance right here old-fashioned
This little street is absolutely beautiful—I love it so much I
don't know if you can see the ferns and the little stone wall here
And well the little house was tiny—just look it was really tiny with a kitchen and a single room nothing else
And there's the first house I showed you—it's quite large Look here
there's a window The other house
is the one that partially collapsed
Looking at this it's clearly a room—see how the floor is It's not safe to enter
here as we could easily fall through especially since it's on the second floor
But anyway there's the house that was locked up
The thing is it's risky to go inside them because they'really in bad shape—if I didn't show you I wouldn't
You see there must have been something built here too just like the wall that collapsed
Here there was probably a wall running all the way up to that house over there
Good this house I see it has plastic there too maybe because of the cattle farmer who
It's right here so he'll probably use it for something and I see a stick over there—no I'm not going in honestly
It's not locked either I imagine but anyway I see he's coming this way and
it's not my intention to find out whether he keeps anything inside
I came across this myself
There's a bath tub and if
this is a bathroom it's incredible
This was a bathroom outside the house and it looks like it was added later because it's made of brick and you can see where it's been attached
Confined I thought it was for storage but it wasn't a bathroom outside the house
Notice how the house was large but as many of you know back then bathrooms were located outside
of the houses and in this case they built it there and this is the main house we've come to see
I've just realized that this place had a laundry area
and I'm going to keep going down here again to show you what's further below
The community had a laundry facility but you have to walk down a little path from here—we'll be following it shortly
and I show it to you so you can see
how beautiful it was when it arrived or as I continued recording
This is the path I mentioned earlier that the people from this village had to travel
arrive at the laundry area where they likely drew water and also washed clothes and all that stuff
and well it's still preserved
Some paths still have fences here and there because as you've seen thanks to the local ranchers these trails remain open to some extent
anks to the livestock and that we can visit this village because
I like to imagine that with the access it has this place is completely covered in mud and stones
As you can see the path would be completely
covered if it weren't for the livestock activity
ot even could one get through here as it's not a place like the other villages I've passed through where natural pathways exist
It's great here for hiking and mountaineering—only those who live here really
know it and you can see just how beautiful
it is There's another cabin here too
from this village which is pretty much kept up so it's good for storing a few things
If it rains heavily I imagine the cattle will seek shelter and when they're in this meadow down here the laundry area was right below
I want to show it to you because it's a
very traditional place where everyone would gather to draw water and wash clothes
And this was the community laundry they had
Here they washed their clothes and here the animals
lived and drank as water flowed out from this area
formerly there was no water anymore and where would they get water from and besides the animals would have nothing to dr
so looking still remains valid and asserts that it is
The inscription there is from 1954 or possibly much older—I'm not sure if you can see it clearly
It's likely much much older but when they renovated it so to speak and applied that plaster and everything the stones that are there
So they fixed one of those wooden roofs
put on that plate and it was in 1954 the last time
so to give you an idea this village has been around for
Likely around 30 to 40 years who knows—not since 1954 but comfortably 30 years could pass without issue uninhabited
and as always
well in a place as extreme as Asturias wherever you go
You have a spectacular nature here—nothing is heard except the sounds of animals and the cowbells
And well the path is full full full of chestnuts—on other videos you've asked me what chestnuts are
f they're Indian chestnuts and if they're not in this case then they are like this
That's right those are thorns for example there are green ones right there look here there's one right now
Alright so I press them like this to open them slightly then we
look inside and if they have fruit—well in this case no it doesn't have good fruit
Anyway I've been picking up chestnuts along the way and
they're quite good but that's not the case here right now
Look here you don't need to go far to find them and they're everywhere
along the path—this is currently their season along with sweet cider
so nothing I'm
just heading down from this town toward the road below
Anything nearby I can check to see if I can reach the car and otherwise I just wanted to wrap up the video here
And I mention the chestnuts because many of you are from Asturias but others who see me aren't
So from here in Asturias it's for that kind of audience who've already asked me what type of chestnut it is what it actually is
All that matters is the cider cider is a drink
apple-based alcoholic beverage made from apple juice which I've tried to explain in previous videos and we'll be heading to a place where it's produced
The cider and good that's for the next videos
if you keep making videos on the channel
And thank you always for your support as you keep motivating me to continue making videos but later on I’ll try to show you more
so many other things from here in Asturias
cider chestnuts traditions places of interest trying to show you a little bit of everything not just abandoned areas
Many of you also ask me why there's so much abandonment here in Asturias and the reason is that the
The politics the bureaucracy—this all makes it extremely difficult to keep going
in these villages and the communications are in some cases a complete disaster
It's true that people move to cities seeking a different life—supposedly better than
staying in rural areas though that's debatable and each person draws their own conclusion
I think these places could have a second life if they had good internet
access—alternatives to traditional livelihoods could then emerge
Different through the internet with incomes unlike anything we've traditionally
known—what it's worth is now left entirely to individual interpretation
That's all I have to share with you—thank you for being here
and for choosing to watch my video I hope to see you again soon
Keep watching my upcoming videos and keep enjoying them as much as you do now—your support means the world to me and truly motivates me to keep creating content
And I won't keep you waiting—see you in the next video
