Hey it's Alex here and in today's video we are going to be trying to make a bow and arrow.
Now I've never made something like this before although a while back when I was a child we used
to take sticks put like a rubber band on it and just kind of have fun with it but this is
semi-professional. I try to look for oak and I was going to make it out of wood originally but
that takes a little bit more skill some tools that I don't have so I did a little bit of research and
I found out you can make one using pvc pipes they're actually really easy to make and they're
really fun uh they work there you could with a six foot piece of pvc pipe you could probably get
a 40 pound draw I think I don't I don't know anything about bows to be completely honest with
you but the plan for now is to take this apply some heat to it curve it into shape I think it's
called a recurve bow that's what we're gonna go for so yeah um I don't have a heat gun so we're
gonna have to be using a stove yeah I know it's probably not gonna be that easy or it's not gonna
go that well but I think we might be able to do it it's 100 degrees outside right now so it's pretty
hot so but yeah it'll be fun oh I didn't get to record any of it but this is what we have so far
I know looks really bad actually I was this close to giving up these are burn marks you can't tell
from the fire honestly you could probably just sand this and paint it with some spray paint
so what we have here is two and a half feet of flattened bit right here
and a couple hours later here is what we have I didn't really get to record much of it because
much of this process was just me burning my hands just failing completely but it's not bad
I actually liked a lot I want to have these sharp so I'm going to cut it then file it a little I'm
using twisted mason twine to use as a string so it's uh the third day working on this
bow and arrow and I'm out here hiking a little bit but yesterday I didn't really get to record
anything but what I did was I flattened it a little bit more to get a more even bend I put a
it was fine for the most part it it would shoot an arrow but not the way I wanted to it wouldn't
bend properly after heating it up a little it was a little bit better for today I spray painted
a little to get a better look I sanded it down first and then I spray painted it now I'm just
gonna put a string on it make sure it bends properly and I'll show you guys how to make
a few arrows from dowels and oh yeah if you want to see how I made this hiking stick
from a piece of wood make sure you check out my last video I'll leave a link down in the
description below all right so where were we um we've pretty much got this bow and arrow completely
done um I want to just go through every single step I did because I know I didn't record a couple
steps because this is over the course of like two weeks or something like that so that's why I just
didn't get to record much um what I ended up doing is just getting a pvc pipe heating it up
flattening it and then flattening the middle part like this and I curved the edges like that put in
two notches sanding it spray painting it putting a clear coat on then some mason
braided twine and then that's pretty much it for the bow
the arrows you can get um these dowels from home depot and you can get a bilabi just pretty much
glue them on I ended up just gluing them on but you can use string I just put the string there
it looks kind of cool and I uh 3d printed a few a few bits one that I broke a whistling bit which
works really well and one with a little screw this is pretty much a toy this could probably
maybe could knock out a rabbit with it um not gonna do much with this but it was fun the curve
is really not good but it'll do all right first up we got the heavy estero with that little broken
broadhead on it we're gonna see what type of what we get from uh from looking at it it flew about
maybe 20 feet at most and it just crashed that's pretty much all it did and I was standing like
right there so yeah it doesn't fly that far but that bit right there I mean that arrow right there
was really heavy for this bow so we're gonna try those ones now I hope you heard that whistle but
I'm gonna do a few more shooting right by the camera and hopefully not hit it and we'll see if
uh if we can hear that whistling on the the gopro and now the lightest arrow we have with the actual
sharp bit let's see what this one does well all right let's try it from where we're standing
right now yeah nothing let's fire into some dirt out of all the arrows I think the whistling head
is uh the best one because it's fun it whistles like how you'd expect an arrow to but in real life
a bow and arrow is actually really quiet um it doesn't whistle it doesn't make any type of sound
it just goes and then it hits the hits the target but this this is what you use for actual uh for
sound but we're gonna do a few more with this one because it's kind of cool I want to do one
shooting right up see what happens we are pointed straight up oh boy it looks pretty good um sounds
pretty good too there's people that actually make like 40 pound bows from pvc so if you do this
correctly you could use this well I hope you guys enjoyed this video and if you want to see
more videos like this make sure you subscribe and uh I'll see you guys next time god bless
