Hi guys, what's up? Welcome back to another video here in my channel.
For today's video, I've been seeing a lot of videos on YouTube making a recurve bow out of
PVC plastic. So for today, we're going to go ahead and try to replicate that. We'll make a
bow out of PVC plastic. I do have here about an inch thick PVC, so this should be enough.
And we're going to go ahead and cut it for about 60 inches tall. I tried to calculate that there
should be a 20% reduction on its original height once you have curved the edges of the bow. So
let's go ahead and cut that PVC.
All right, so we already took the measurement. This is a total of 60 inches long. So we took
the center, which is 30 inches, and then we did another measurement, which is 20 inches
from here to here. And then we're gonna heat it, then we're gonna lay it flat. So stay tuned.
All right, so after heating, we have clamped it in here just like that.
And we're gonna wait for it to cool. All right, so after cooling down, it's now been flattened.
So up until this mark, it's flattened. Here, it's not. That should be perfect.
And then next is we're gonna do the other side. We're gonna do the same thing. We're
gonna heat it up, then flatten it down to our contraption, then wait for it to cool down.
All right.
Okay, so we have already flattened the tip of both sides there. This is how it looks like now.
There. So it's slightly bent this way. That would make it easier for us to
put the strings on later on. But for the meantime, we would be curving
these edges. That is why it's called recurve bow. So it's gonna be curved like that.
And on this side as well. So for us to curve them, we would be using a bucket here.
This one. So we're gonna use this as a pattern. I'll go ahead and reheat the tip so that it's
easier for us to form. I'll go ahead and show you guys how we do it. All right, so welcome back.
After I did this side, I realized that it's too big. So I decided to switch the
other side with a smaller one. I decided to use a different bucket. So this one,
this should be the right size that I wanted. So we're gonna redo this one
to make the curve smaller. So hang on.
All right, so right after we curved the edges or the tips, we corrected the
first one that we made. So they are now on the same size. That's how it looks like.
There. This one should have a pretty decent
draw weight. So once we have attached the string. By the way, the string that we're gonna use is
this paracord bracelet that I have. Had this for quite a while now. So I decided I'll just
use it as a string to this bowl. So we're gonna go ahead and disassemble this bracelet
and then use it as a string to our PVC bowl. So I'm pretty happy with how it turns out.
Take a look at that. Well, it got a little burnt in here while I'm heating it on the stove.
Also burnt it here, but that's gonna be okay. There's a lot of burnt part, but that's okay.
We're gonna paint it anyway. All right, so I've made some slight modification on the bowl.
I reduced the curve on the end. The reason is because I think it's too short
because of those curves. So I decided to reduce it to make it a little longer. So it's
up until my chest level. I'm about 5'10 in height. So that should be long enough for me.
Let me just try to measure how long this bow is.
So this is about 52 inches. So that should be enough. So when we curve it later on,
something like that. So it still has a lot of draw weight to it. And I've already
undone the paracord. So there's the bracelet that I have earlier. This is what we're gonna
use as a string to this bow. Okay, so let me just go ahead and put some notch here
onto where I could attach the string on both ends. I'll go ahead and show it to you guys.
All right, so for the strings, I'll just be showing you a simple way to tie a knot.
So you just need to leave like a hole in here. And then like a pencil, or not really a pencil,
you can use anything that's comfortable for you. Then we're just gonna follow the steps. So
simple way to tie a knot for your bow. And then you're just gonna insert it
on the loop that you created. Maybe, you know, something like this.
Then you're just gonna pull, pull it hard at the same time. So there. Now this is totally
adjustable when you pull it on the other side. Then if you want to make it smaller,
just gonna pull it like that. So this one, you need to make sure that it's really tight.
So pull it as hard as you can. All right, so something like that. Then you can just cut this.
Okay guys, welcome back. This is now how it looks like. The bow with the string attached to it.
So there. So I haven't cut the excess string or paracord. This is the paracord bracelet that
we had yesterday. So just a test fit before we paint the bow.
Wow, that's powerful.
That's more like it. Maybe it's about 35 pounds of draw weight. 35 to 40 pounds of draw weight.
Yeah, that's strong. So as you can see, the PVC is bent.
There. So there is our recurve bow almost done. Let me show you how it looks like when you're
trying to shoot it. There. I'll go ahead and paint it. All right, good evening. It's already
dark outside. So just here to show you that it's already been painted black. It's already dry.
However, I tried to shoot some arrow and some of the paint has been chipped off. So I decided that
I'll be putting a handle to it as well. So that's what I'm going to show you. I'm going to show you
guys tonight. So let me just go ahead and show it to you. It's all black. For the handle, I'm
going to be using this old shirt that I have. Just going to go ahead and cut a few meters of
this white cloth. Then I'm going to go ahead and wrap it over to the handle from the middle.
Then from the center, I'll be measuring it for about three inches for the handle. And then
same on this side, three inches. So it's going to be a total of six inches
handle. Great. Welcome back. I've already wrapped the cloth around after I cut it.
Just like that. And this is now the final look of our recurve bow made out of PVC.
That's pretty powerful. Stay tuned for the next video. I'll be showing you how I made the
arrow for this bow made out of wood. And then we're going to go ahead and try shooting this
bow. Let's go ahead and do some target shooting on the next video. So stay tuned, guys. And if
