Hello Friends, On December 1945, at 2 10 p.m., five torpedo bombers of the U.S. Navy take off from Florida. This flight is called Flight 19 to conduct a three-hour routine training mission. That is, it was not a special flight. They were flying to conduct their regular training missions. There are 14 crew members in the flight who are being led by a flight leader who is a very experienced pilot and also a war veteran. These five planes take off and fly in the east direction from Florida. Everything is going normal. The weather is quite clear but about two hours after takeoff, their squadron leader reports that suddenly there are problems in their compass. Their compass stops working. They take out their backup compass. But the backup compass also fails. They do not know where their position is. Actually, they ask the pilots of the other planes and their instruments also start functioning poorly. The name of the squadron leader is Lt. Charles Carroll Taylor and after the compass malfunctions, very confusing messages are heard in the radio transmission. Taylor says both my compasses are out and I am trying to find Port Lauderdale, Florida. I am overland but it is broken. I am sure I am in the Keys but I don't know how far down and I don't know how to get to Port Lauderdale. The weather is now gradually getting worse. At 4.56 p.m. Taylor feels that his planes have actually reached over the Gulf of Mexico. So now they have to fly in the east direction to go back to Florida. So now he commands all his other planes to fly in the east direction. But there are some crews in the flight who think that no, they are actually already in the east. They should fly west. Immediately after this order, a radio transmission is heard from one of the planes. Damn it. If we could just fly west we would get home. Head west damn it. That is, the rest of the crew members suspect that they should actually fly west to return home. But the weather keeps getting worse. The sun sets and it gets dark. At this time, it is believed that these planes were actually 370 kilometers east of Florida. At 7.04 p.m., the last radio transmission comes from Taylor. All planes close up tight we have to ditch an easy landfall. We all go down together. And after this, all 5 planes disappear forever. Till date, we do not know where these planes are. What happened to them? After the disappearance of flight 19, a search and rescue mariner aircraft takes off with a crew of 13 people. Its mission is to find this flight 19. It sets out to find it and it also disappears. First 14 people of flight 19 went missing and now 13 people of this mariner search and rescue aircraft are missing. After this, a huge air and sea search operation is called for several days. One of the largest search operations of that time to find these two flights. But no trace is found. Neither any body of any human being is found, nor any broken part of the aircraft is found. Completely missing. The interesting thing is that the area where both these planes disappear is known to us today as the Bermuda Triangle. Over the 50 years, 3,000 ships and 100 planes have gone missing in mysterious stretch of water in the Atlantic Ocean missing. The source of all legend and fear this is the triangle Bermuda Triangle is said to be a very mysterious part of the ocean where more than 100 planes and ships went and disappeared and their whereabouts are never known. This is an area which forms a kind of triangle from Florida to Puerto Rico in America and up to Bermuda. Overall, this area is more than 5 lakh square miles where this happens. The stories of Bermuda Triangle are more than 500 years old. In the year 1492, Christopher Columbus set out to discover the new world. He reported that when he was passing through this area, his compass stopped working and one night when he looked out of his ship towards the sky, he saw a very strange light. A strange light which looked like a fireball and he saw that fireball in the sky falling down into the sea. This mystery begins from here and in the coming centuries, this place was given many names like the Graveyard of the Atlantic, the Sea of Dam Sargasso Graveyard. These were the names which were used in the 18th and 19th century. But the name Bermuda Triangle was actually used for the first time only in 1964. There was a magazine named Argosy. A man named Vincent H. Gaddis wrote an article in that magazine in 1964 titled The Deadly Bermuda Triangle. And this was the first time the term Bermuda Triangle was used. In this article, he summarized many disappearances that had happened in the last several decades in this Bermuda Triangle and tried to link them. And here an attempt was made to create a mystery that there is something very strange in this area of the sea, due to which so many planes and ships go and disappear. Although no explanation was given in that article as to why this happens, but because of this, the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle became the most popular mystery of that time. It is so popular that many books were written on it, many movies were made, many computer games were made and some songs were also written on Bermuda Triangle. Talking about some other incidents, another terrible incident happened in the year 1918 with the USS Cyclops ship. It was one of the biggest and one of the fastest ships of the U.S. Navy at that time which they had built. It was a very important asset for the U.S. Navy, especially when America started participating in World War I. So it was used to transport troops and for cold transportation. On the 4th of March 1918, 306 people were sitting in this USS Cyclops. Baltimore is a city in the West Indies near Washington. From there, this ship left for Brazil. Apart from people, this ship also had 11,000 tons of manganese. It was going to take about 9 days to cover this distance. This ship left safely. The weather was clear. A message came from the ship while leaving that weather is fair, all is well. But this message was the last message from this ship. After this ship went on its way, there was no trace of it. Suddenly it disappeared. This shocked everyone. One of the biggest ships of the U.S. Navy. How can such a big ship suddenly disappear? Now if this incident sounds mysterious to you, then even more terrifying and scary is the mystery of Ellen Austin. In the year 1881, there was a 210 feet long ship named Ellen Austin. It was going from London to New York. It was a very common thing. At that time, many ships used to travel like this. But on the way, Ellen Austin sees an unknown ship. An unidentified ship near the area of the Bermuda Triangle. From outside, the unknown ship looked absolutely normal. But there was no trace of any human inside it. There was no crew on this ship. There were no people. So the captain of Ellen Austin thought that he should go to this ship and see what has happened here. First he waited for two days by anchoring his ship near that ship to find out if there is someone, to see some sign of them, to get some response from the other ship, but no response came for two days. After that the captain stepped into that unknown ship. There was a lot of stuff kept inside this new ship, all the things were where they should be. At that time people were afraid of pirates that their ship might be attacked and the pirates might snatch away the stuff and run away. So this thing did not happen with this ship at all because all the valuable things were safe inside this ship. For this reason the captain of Ellen Austin decides that I will send some of my crew members to this new ship and we will move forward with both the ships together. For the first two days both the ships move forward comfortably together. But then a storm comes. The paths of both of them separate and that unknown ship disappears. After the storm ends, the captain of Ellen Austin tries to find that ship and he sees that ship from a distance through his spyglass. When he reaches close to it, he finds that there is no trace of any human being in that ship again. The few crew members that he had put in that ship from his ship, have now suddenly disappeared. Where did they go? What happened to them is not known, but the ship is as safe as it was. It is said that the captain of Ellen Austin tried again to take that unknown ship with him. He sent some more new crew members to steer that ship. But again after 2-3 days when a new storm came, the same story happened again. This unknown ship gets separated and the new crew members that were put in that ship suddenly disappear again. When Ellen Austin's ship returns, its owner gets so scared after hearing its story that he sells this ship to a German company which changes the name of this ship to Meta. You heard it right, the renaming was done by Mark Zuckerberg in Facebook's Meta. This ship was also renamed to Meta later. Isn't it such an interesting and legendary story? But alas friends, this incident is most probably just a story. Because this incident is so old, it is not possible to verify it properly, and the stories which are historically very popular, which have been going on for generations. But it is not possible to verify them properly, it is not possible to know the truth. We call those stories legends or urban legends. And many rational thinkers believe that Bermuda Triangle is also a legend, the legend of Bermuda Triangle. What is the reason behind the incidents of Bermuda Triangle? Many theories have been made about this. Some people blame aliens that aliens must have come and blown up these planes and aircrafts. They must have taken them away with them. Some people say that there is a big sea monster under the sea in this place which must have made these things disappear. Some people say that the sea here is such that all these planes fall inside it. These theories are very strange. But we focus on those theories which sound a little more scientific. An explanation is given on the basis of magnetism. What is the matter friends? The actual North Pole of the Earth and the Magnetic North Pole are two different points. So when you look in the direction of North with a compass, the compass is pointing towards the Magnetic North Pole. But the actual North Pole is a little different. It is called the Geographic North Pole. You can see in this photo how much difference there is between the Geographic North Pole and the Magnetic North Pole. Usually, when people use compass, who have been using it since ancient times, they take this thing into account. But there are some areas on Earth where if you use compass, you will find the Magnetic North Pole and Geographic North Pole at the exact same place. The places where this happens are called agonic lines. These agonic lines keep changing with time. But in the last 200 to 300 years, the zero degrees line has remained around or inside the area of the Bermuda Triangle. This can create confusion basically. The second special thing about this area is that the area inside the Bermuda Triangle is a very shallow area. If you look at it on a satellite map, you will see that the Bahamas and the Caribbean islands around it appear to be of turquoise color. Spread over a very long area, this is an area of sea where the water is not very deep. You can see that the deep sea around it appears to be dark blue in color and this area stands out when viewed from a satellite. Because of this, it is said that in old times, many ships that came here would get stuck due to this shallow water. Hidden shoals were some points under the sea where the soil was protruding a little more, so they were not visible from outside. When the ships went inside them, they would get stuck there. The third special thing is that the number of hurricanes in this area is one of the highest in the world. If you see which countries in the world witness the most hurricanes, then China comes at number one, but after that, USA is at number two and then Cuba. Cuba lands in this area, and in which state in USA most hurricanes come? They come in Florida which is in this area. So hurricanes and water spouts come with more frequency in this area. The fourth explanation is given about methane hydrates. There are some areas inside the sea where large fields of methane hydrates are found. Scientists in Australia conducted some laboratory experiments. They observed that when there are more than a certain amount of methane bubbles in water, the density of water decreases and the buoyancy of a ship cannot be maintained, so the ship will sink inside the water. The same logic holds true, when there is more salt in water, the density of water increases. So it becomes easier for things to float. Like in the Dead Sea, on which I also made a vlog, if you remember. A normal person who drowns in the sea floats on the Dead Sea because the density of water is high. The same thing is happening in reverse, here if methane is present underwater, then it has been hypothesized that if there are methane eruptions, they are also called mud volcanoes underwater. Volcanoes erupt underwater, so methane comes out from them, due to which if it happens suddenly under a ship, then that ship will suddenly sink underwater without any warning and no one will even know about it. Now this is a very interesting explanation, but actually, in all the disappearances that have happened regarding the Bermuda Triangle, no direct evidence has been found that any exact incident has happened due to this methane thing. It is just a scientific thing that exists, happens. But actually, there is no proof yet that due to which any ship has disappeared. The fifth explanation is the most important explanation in my opinion because it is related to human psychology. This is called the Border-Meinhof Effect or the Frequency Illusion. The Border-Meinhof Effect or the Frequency Illusion is a psychological effect that when we start noticing things more, we start seeing those things more around us. Remember when someone in your family bought a new car, the same model of car that you bought. After buying it, you must have always noticed that for the next few days or the next few months, whenever you go anywhere on the road, you start noticing the car that you have not bought more. You feel that this car is becoming more visible on the roads. After we bought it, people have started buying more cars. This is exactly the case. In reality, the frequency of that car has not changed much on the roads. It was as common before and it is still as common now. Just because you bought that car, you started noticing that thing more. The same thing is said about the Bermuda Triangle as well. It is true that some big ships and planes have disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. But if you have tried to notice, you will find that such ships and planes have disappeared in many seas in many areas around the world where the Bermuda Triangle did not exist. A big recent example of this could be the Malaysian Airlines flight. It did not disappear in the Bermuda Triangle. Because the fact is that when people heard about the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle, whatever disappearances happened, whatever such incidents happened, people started paying more attention to those incidents which were happening in the Bermuda Triangle and people did not pay much attention to those incidents which were happening outside the Bermuda Triangle. Journalist Larry Hussey, who wrote the book The Bermuda Triangle Mystery Solved, also came up with this solution. He said that in the beginning there were many such incidents which actually happened. But with time, when the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle became a bigger mystery, some people started creating their own stories. Mystery mongering happened here and some stories were absolutely nonsense. They never actually happened. The story of Ellen Austin that I told you is told to be one such story. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of America says that there is no evidence that the ships and planes that go and disappear in the Bermuda Triangle, the mysterious disappearances that we see in the Bermuda Triangle, happen with more frequency in the Bermuda Triangle as compared to any other ocean area. There is nothing like that. We see similar mysterious disappearances in other ocean areas as well. The United States Coast Guard even says that the Coast Guard does not recognize the existence of the so-called Bermuda Triangle as a geographic area of specific has to have ships and planes. That is, the USA Coast Guard does not even recognize the Bermuda Triangle as a harmful area. They said that the fact that the area within the Bermuda Triangle has heavy traffic could account for some of the mystery. This Bermuda Triangle area has a lot of traffic of ships and airplanes. Therefore, the chances of incidents happening here increase a bit. Pair that with the fact that the Bermuda Triangle is often swept by hurricanes and the presence of Gulf Stream, it is not hard to see why ships might occasionally sink there. Apart from this, if you keep in mind that this area has more hurricanes and the water here is very shallow, then you have directly got the answer to the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. Despite these many hurricanes, when WWF conducted a detailed study in 2013 on the world's 10 most dangerous bodies of water for shipping, the Bermuda Triangle area was not even included in the top 10 most dangerous waters. So, simply put, all these mysterious disappearances had nothing to do with the Bermuda Triangle. And if you ask now, what was that fireball falling into the water that Christopher Columbus saw?
