We FOUND the CURE to Target Panic!

Welcome to the channel. Today, we are going to conquer target panic.
Towson Jensen from Wyoming has TP,
but I have a friend named Joel Turner who's going to help him delete it.
Stick around to the very end.
We are conquering target panic today.
OK, so how far are we shooting here?
You shoot in the bag target.
Yeah, I was just going to shoot this.
No, no, you want to see the back of the bag target
and see one of the little dots on the bag target.
In fact, I shoot top top center dot
on the bag target to shoot it for 20.
Got it.
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
It's real. OK.
So how long have you been doing that for a while now for like a year?
You've been punching a hinge for a year.
Yeah. What did you shoot?
Like, how long have you been shooting a bow?
About 20 years. OK.
So when did this all start?
It really kicked in last year was like the first time.
Like my whole life, I've been able to come in,
settle on the target and just execute and hold there. OK.
This year, this last year, midsummer, I got a real windy day
and it was blowing me all over the place.
And like I got to just like it was bad.
Like that was a good shot compared to my bad shots.
Like it was like I was yanking.
Wasn't even getting too quick, pulling through as hard as I can. OK.
And then it just compounded from there.
Just got worse and worse.
So what does the click mean to you right now?
The click to me is just like I'll settle on the target.
I'll get on the target and then I'll start just relaxing my hand
trying to get to that click.
And it used to be I would draw back and as soon as my pen touched,
I would like force myself to get to the click.
And then after you aimed?
Yeah, after I aimed and then I'd start my shot execution. OK.
So why don't you do that now?
I don't know. Like it's it's been it's it's been a struggle.
Like mentally mentally before every shot, I will tell myself
you're going to go slow.
You're going to get to the click. OK.
You know, you're going to you say that when?
Before the shot happens.
OK, what do you say during the shot?
During the shot, I'm just kind of trying to get through the motion.
What do you mean?
No, the question is, what do you say during your shot?
I have nothing at this point.
Like it's just it's just getting to the motion and trying to stay on target.
OK, so would you say that in your shot right now
that there are bits of mystery?
A hundred percent. Yeah. OK.
So that's what we're here for today is to demystify your shot. OK. OK.
You on it? On. OK.
Now just roll to the click, but don't shoot.
Just go to the click. Come on. OK.
And now say, here I go. Here I go.
And now talk yourself through a pressure increase on your release.
Slow enough that I can't see it moving.
Jeez. Holy cow, bro.
Surprise break. It's amazing.
Yes! OK. OK.
So I felt like Chris Perkins there.
He's got a huge explosion on his shot. OK.
So let's take a step back.
If you're now you've been through, you've killed lots of bulls,
looks like by your Instagram, you've killed all kinds of bulls.
I don't know what else you've been through in your life,
but if you were able to give me the one life skill
that's gotten you through everything, what is it?
The one life skill that if you said, Turner, if you could just do this one thing,
you could be successful in anything in your life.
What is that? Work ethic, work hard, work hard. OK.
So working hard or having a great work ethic is not the skill.
It's the result of a skill.
So what's the skill?
How did you get your work ethic?
I don't know. My grandpa really started building houses when I was 10.
So I learned it from him.
So you learned it from him.
But did you really learn it?
That's the problem is we don't know how we do what we do.
You don't really know how you got your work ethic.
You you credit your grandpa with it and kudos to him.
But do you know how you did it?
Got it. If you don't know how you did it, you can't possibly
give it to somebody else.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, because you don't know what the skill is.
And that's where I find many coaches
and just people in life that want to transfer their skills to somebody else.
But because they don't know how they do what they do, their skills will die with
that to happen to you, right?
Yep. And it's not going to happen to me because I know how to transfer my skills.
OK, so the one skill that's gotten you through everything,
through every stressful event in your life, through every dead bull elk,
everything, every argument, every car wreck, everything.
And how you've gotten your work ethic is the ability to get loud in your head
with the right words at the right moment.
That's the ultimate skill of a human being.
It all boils down to that one skill.
OK, so the next thing that I'm going to have Towson do is
kind of the basis for the whole online course.
So we're not going to actually show it to you.
But if you don't know this part, then you don't know the mental game.
If you don't know the mental game, it's pretty tough to actually gain
control of your shot.
So this is the secret sauce that we're not going to actually show you.
But you'll see the results of it soon.
You have to know right now that you're going to draw back a name. Correct.
And when you're doing that, that's all you're doing.
Then you know that you're going to roll to the click.
And that's all you're doing.
Then you're going to say, here I go.
Then you're going to talk yourself through the pressure increase.
There's no mystery in that, right?
Like, you know what's going to go.
We don't know where your arrow's going to go.
We don't even know if we got the range, right?
Yeah, it's range estimation.
None of your business, right?
As Donny Vinson would say, it's none of your business.
OK, so let's do our shot here.
So you're going to draw back a name.
Then you're going to roll to the click.
Then you're going to say, here I go. Here I go.
And then you're going to talk yourself through the slowest pressure
increase you've ever felt.
Wow. Too easy, Drill Sergeant.
So once you get the full draw, talk to me.
All right. Putting my pin on the target.
OK. Pin is on the target.
Yeah. Aiming. Yeah.
Going to roll through to my click. OK.
At my click. See that.
Here I go. OK.
Slowly. Pressure. Pressure.
So what happened on that shot?
I pulled through at the very end.
I stopped talking. You gave up on it.
Yep. Right. So now I can easily gauge
and you can now easily gauge exactly what happened
because you ran out of words
because you stopped talking like you were teaching.
You taught us all the easy stuff in your shot.
But then when it came to the pressure increase,
the only thing your mind could come up with was pressure.
Pressure. Gap. Thoughts.
Oh, my gosh, is this going to work? Right.
Pressure. Gap.
Mind's like, thank you very much, Towson.
I'll take that for you. Right.
No gaps. OK. Not allowed to stop talking.
You've got to talk yourself into the initial
pressure increase on the trigger.
OK. Then you can go into whatever your final squeeze
or pressure or whatever it may be.
But you got to talk yourself into getting a movement
because it wasn't moving. Yeah. OK. Right.
All right. My pen's on the target.
Yeah. Aiming. Yeah.
Getting to the click. OK.
At the click. Yeah.
Slowly adding pressure.
OK. Where was here I go.
OK. Here I go at the start.
Here I go. Right before you start your pressure.
OK. Because remember, you're trying to make your pressure
increase the only thing in your world.
Pen is on the target. Yeah.
Aiming. Mm hmm.
Rolling through to the click. Yeah.
Here I go.
Slowly talking, adding pressure.
You. It's that simple.
That's crazy. You got more arrows. Yeah.
OK, so now we're going to shoot this.
OK. You shot a thumb button before.
I have. It's been a long time.
So you had a question on what's the movement.
Correct. This thing. Right.
Do we press with our thumb?
Do we take our pinky and do we push it into our thumb?
Do we roll it? Just what do we do with it?
Well, this is a stand on X clicker.
So this has movement to a click. Right.
And the cool thing about that is is you can now just
pinky to thumb to get to the click
and then you do that again, but slower.
So you get to do the same motor program twice. OK.
You don't have to pull anymore.
Well, I'm going to do a test with you real quick.
So I want you to work this trigger a couple of times
just to the click and then ease through it.
OK. Reset it.
Ease to the click after the click.
I shake my hand. OK.
So now show me to the click
after the click way too fast.
Slower to the click after the click.
Feel the pulsations in your hand. OK.
You know how this is going to go.
Yes, I do. No mystery.
No mystery. No mystery.
Talk me through this one. OK.
I need to get these new strings on.
Talk to me, Goose. What do you got?
Pin is on the target.
Uh-huh. Aiming. Yeah.
Roll through to the click.
Yeah, there it is.
Slowly. Here I go. Here I go.
Slowly, squeezy, slowly.
Beauty. Slapping arrows down there at 50 yards.
Too easy drill sergeant.
Yes. That'll work.
You see the complete difference in the surprise
impulse of the body, right?
And you feel like you feel when you punch it.
It goes, dunk. Yeah.
When you don't go, pow.
Right. That's what we're looking for.
Cool. Did you get him?
Yeah, I killed him both times.
I think. Go grab him.
All right, Towson.
Thanks for driving all that from Wyoming.
Thank you for having me. Appreciate it.
Is the target panic deleted?
Yes, it is. Very much so.
More importantly,
do you know how you do what you do?
I know how I do what I do.
Good. So that's where confidence is going to come from.
The world is yours, my friend.
I appreciate you very much.
You bet, man. Thank you.
Guys, link is in the video description for his course.
Check it out.
Separation is in the preparation.
We'll catch you on the next one.
