Hello everyone and welcome to Art and Design. My name is Thorgir and today I've got a special
video for you because we're going to turn this picture right here into 3D like this.
Let's check it out. All right so in principle this is a very simple method to use. You don't
really need to use Procreate in order to do this. You can use Photoshop or any software that allows
you to draw using layers. Basically what we're going to do is we're going to export all of the
But before we do that we need to make sure that we don't have any layers that rely heavily on
blending modes. So we don't want layers that like this that go all the way to the edges and have a
blending mode. Now this layer right here is just used to sort of give contrast for the shadows
and the highlights. I'm gonna actually merge this one down so that it merges with the background
layer. Just gonna squeeze them together like this and there we go. Now I have a single layer that
works as the background. Now this program doesn't handle opacity and blending modes very well.
I'm actually gonna merge these layers together as well because they are a single object and I
don't want any spacing between them. So just gonna squeeze them together and now they are a single
object. So okay the next thing that we're gonna do is we're gonna export all of these layers
and to do that in Procreate we simply tap on the wrench icon right over here
and then we tap on export PNG files. I'm just gonna tap on that and that will export each layer as a
separate PNG file and I'm gonna save that in folders and in this folder right over here.
So now that we have all of the layers exported into the iClouds folder we're gonna go ahead
and download the SlideAR app and that's this one right here SlideAR and I already bought this.
I think it costs a few dollars but since I already bought it just gonna tap on open and tap on the
plus button. You need to tap on it again in order to import the layers and we're gonna select from
the files. Then just navigate to the folder, select all of the files, select, select all
and now just want to tap on open. Now it's gonna download all of the layers into the phone and put
them in the app. This might take a few minutes depending on the internet connection all that
but let's just fast forward through this process and we're done. So now let's compare where the
layers are supposed to be. So one of the things that the app doesn't do correctly is position the
layers in the right order so just need to go ahead and rearrange the layers just tap and drag on them
and move them into the right place. Okay so I think I got the order right so I'm just gonna
press done on this and now we need to specify the target. Now the target is basically any unique
shape that has a high contrast ratio so basically let's just go ahead and create a new layer
and I'm gonna fill it with white and let's draw something on it to give it just some bit of
contrast. Alright so I think this should be enough contrast for the camera to pick up so now what I'm
gonna do is I'm gonna simply export this into a jpeg image and we're just gonna save that onto
the device and the device will then synchronize to the cloud and we can open it on the phone.
Let's just make sure that it's on the phone. Okay need to wait just a few seconds. Now we have the
file on the phone and we can target it so let's pick from the camera roll and there we go we've
got the target image on the phone. Okay so now we have the image right over here and we have the
target image on the phone and we're going to use the target image as the placement of the 3d object
so let me just show you what I mean. As soon as we point the phone towards the target image look at
that. That's so awesome. Now we can see there's a little bit of weirdness going on with the light
source over there. There's a layer that seems to be causing problems. That's one of the problems
with blending modes. This is supposed to be a blending mode layer. I'm just gonna move it out
of the way and here we can see what this is supposed to look like. Now I'm gonna try putting
this in the other direction so that it goes into the device. It looks like a window into the device.
That's so cool. Let's try going in the exact opposite direction and go to the extreme. So that
ladies and gentlemen that is Procreate in 3d. Absolutely amazing. Now I think the tracking could
be a little bit better. It's a little bit jittery. Maybe it could use some stabilization. Might be
something that I could incorporate into the app at some point. Another thing that I would like to
see is the ability to simply import a Procreate file and not have to export all of the layers
separately. That way we could maybe take advantage of using blending modes and all that sort of stuff
but I think this is pretty pretty cool tech demo. Other than that I want to thank you all very much

Take care and have a wonderful day. See you in the next one. Bye bye.
