Apple just delivered one of their most historic Q1 earnings ever.
The first Apple products of the year have officially launched, Apple Creator Studio
is already turning into a massive success, and there's so much more Apple news, so grab
that popcorn and here's everything new on Apple.
And since we're talking about the new MacBooks, I highly recommend Yulia's latest winter wildlife
pack.
With 1x1 8K quality, these handcrafted designs will look awesome on any device that you put
My favorite wallpaper from the pack is definitely the penguin design, which looks so good on
my iPad.
So check out this design and more at Wallpapers on iOS and Android by using the links below.
Okay, so first off, the M5 Pro and the M5 Max MacBook Pro refresh is running late, as
you all probably know by now.
But according to the latest report from Mark Gurman, they are expected to arrive together
with macOS 26.3.
As for when?
Well, this could happen literally any moment from now, even as early as today.
Or tomorrow.
Also, the Apple website has recently had a revamp when buying a MacBook.
It used to be very different, where you would pick some pre-configured models, which you
could then configure further.
But now it is very similar to how the iPad configurator is.
You start with a screen size, then you have the nanotexture option, then you pick the
chip and finally the RAM, storage and power adapter.
Although I do believe that these would still be available if you go to the Apple store
yourself.
And also, like I previously mentioned, there have been some speculations about Apple potentially
giving us the ability to mix and match configurations, just like in the Intel days.
So you could pick the entry-level Max chip, the bin model, but then get the highest-end
GPU, and vice versa.
And this change is pointing exactly towards that, that honestly, I think it's an amazing
idea, because if you only need the maximum GPU or a ton of RAM, you wouldn't feel pressure
to also upgrade the CPU to the highest-end version.
As for the other Apple product launches, Apple has finally released the long-awaited second-gen
AirTag, which actually comes with a bunch of new features and improvements.
The design is the same, but the speaker is now 50% louder.
And the chime is also a bit different, which makes it a bit easier to hear in noisy environments.
Then precision finding has also been improved quite a lot actually, as it now works from
much greater distances, around 50% more according to Apple.
And finally, if you own an Apple Watch Series 9 or newer, or the Ultra 2 or newer, then
you can also use precision finding on your Apple Watch as well, which could be extremely
useful if you don't have your iPhone on you.
But anyway, do subscribe because we will be doing a follow-up to our famous 2021 AirTag
video, where we compared it against other models, only this time we'll go even bigger
and compare it against tons of third-party options that have come out since.
Now on a separate note, Apple has just had their Q1 earnings call on the 29th of January,
and according to Mark Gurman, this was a historical one.
By the way, Apple actually calculates their fiscal year a bit differently.
The Q1 actually starts on the 1st of October and ends on the 27th of December, so not the
typical Q1 that runs from January to March.
Much of Apple's strong first quarter was actually driven by the success of the iPhone
17 lineup, particularly the Pro models, which helped iPhone revenue grow more than 23% year
over year.
Although the revenue in wearables, home and accessories, as well as Mac sales, has actually
dropped by 7%, although China was another standout for Apple, with apparently their
revenue surpassing $25 billion for the first time in several years.
And what makes this even more impressive is that this growth happened before Apple even
And speaking of launches, we've also had the first non-hardware release of 2026, and that's
Apple Creator Studio.
In short, this is a subscription bundle that grants you access to Final Cut Pro, Logic
Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Compressor Motion, and tons more.
There are 10 apps in total here.
It's $12.99 per month, or $1.29 a year, and honestly, I think the price is such a great
deal.
Because if you're a student, you can actually get this for as low as $2.99 a month, which
is just crazy.
Up until now, if you wanted to purchase both Final Cut and Logic for your Mac, you would
have paid around $500, not even to mention that with Apple Creator Studio, you also get
the iPad versions of all of those apps as well.
And additionally, you also get some extra features, such as new templates, AI slide
generation in Keynote, auto-transcription of long recordings in Final Cut, and even
the ability to search for spoken words or objects in different scenes.
I think this is an amazing deal, especially for creators that are just getting started.
For example, David from my team, he recently launched his own YouTube channel, reviewing
both older and newer Apple products, and instead of spending $300 upfront on Final Cut, he's
now paying just $12 a month, and he has the app on both the Mac and the iPad.
And speaking of software releases, guess which iPhone just got an iOS update?
It's the iPhone 5S.
From 2013.
I'm not even kidding, this is an almost 13-year-old iPhone that got a small but meaningful upgrade.
Alongside the iPhone 6, the iPod Touch 6th Gen, the iPad Mini 2, and the first-generation
iPad Air, they all received iOS 12.5.8.
This update extends the certificate required for iMessage and FaceTime to keep working.
The certificate update also allows the devices to be activated after being factory reset,
as if it had expired, these devices could no longer have been activated, and they would
have essentially been bricks.
The current certificate was set to expire in January of 2027, so by Apple extending
it by one extra year, it kinda shows that they still care about people using these older
devices.
And speaking of dedication, Apple had TSMC as their exclusive chip manufacturer since
2014.
That's 12 years of partnership.
However, according to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is considering whether some of their
lower-end chips could actually be manufactured by someone other than TSMC.
And one of these candidates is, and you would have never guessed it, Intel.
Yes, the same Intel that Apple dropped in 2020 for their really, really bad performance
before they moved to the M series of chips.
So according to Jeff Fu, we may have Intel supplying at least a part of the non-pro A21
and A22 chips from 2028 onwards.
Which is definitely an interesting move, but I think it is the right move, especially with
TSMC having a lot of deals now with Nvidia and other AI companies that can no longer
give Apple the best price, so this means that Apple can now negotiate with Intel and get
a better deal that way.
Especially with Intel being in a really tough position right now.
For example, their top-of-the-line 2026 low-power chips barely even match Apple's M2, and Apple's
releasing the M6 this year.
So for Intel to accept this deal with Apple, it means that this deal could actually help
them a lot in the long run.
And for Apple, this wouldn't be as risky as their flagship pro chips would still be manufactured
by TSMC.
But yeah, let me know what you guys think about Apple returning to Intel, at least when
it comes to the chip manufacturing.
But here's something that's not coming back, and that's Apple's iPhone upgrade program
in the UK.
This was a program that launched back in 2016, almost 10 years ago.
As a quick reminder, it allowed people to basically pay a monthly fee of around $40
to $60 converted, and you would basically get the newest iPhone available at launch
every single year.
This also included AppleCare Plus with tech protection, and all you had to do was to return
your old iPhone when the new one was released, and that was pretty much it.
But after ending their partnership with Barclays, one of the largest banks in the UK, it looks
like Apple decided to stop this upgrade program.
It is still available in the US and other countries, but either way, if you've used
this in the UK, then let me know down below, I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
So if you're planning on buying the new iPhone Fold, or even the new rumored iPhone Flip,
then you would have to finance them in other ways, or just buy them outright.
And yes, you heard me right, iPhone Flip.
As according to Mark Gurman's latest report, Apple is actually considering an iPhone Flip
in addition to the iPhone Fold.
I do remember the rumor from a couple of years ago that Apple was planning on releasing the
Flip before the Fold, but obviously those plans changed.
It's interesting how they're still considering launching a Flip though, and they haven't
cancelled that.
Which of course would compete against Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip and the Motorola Razr series,
especially in the US.
But of course, this isn't confirmed or anything, and to quote Mark Gurman, the clamshell iPhone
is far from guaranteed to reach the market.
And if it does, it will probably be years after the iPhone Fold.
But here's something else that was guaranteed to never reach the market, and that's Apple
Store accessories.
A new Australian store has begun offering Apple Store display hardware for sale.
This includes MagSafe charging stands, AirPods Max stands, Apple Watch demo chargers, and
so much really cool stuff.
So if you're gonna have your own Apple Store at home, this could be quite interesting,
especially for Apple fans.
I would personally love to have one of these AirPods retail displays in the studio.
I think they look really cool, although it looks like almost everything has sold out.
As for Apple products that have not sold out yet, well, we do have a new Apple Watch band
that Apple has just released.
It's the Black Unity Braided Solo Loop.
And fun fact, this isn't actually the first Black Unity Solo Loop.
We've had one back in 2022 as well, plus two more sport bands and two sport loops across
the years.
These bands celebrate Black history and culture, and I personally love that Apple is releasing
these bands to help raise awareness.
Plus they do look really cool.
So that's everything we know so far.
