Check out the best shots of the day from Round 2 of the 2026 WM Phoenix Open, featuring Ryo Hisatsune, Hideki Matsuyama, and Sahith Theegala, among others.
The PGA TOUR returns to the desert for the 39th edition of the WM Phoenix Open, as TPC Scottsdale once again takes center stage for one of the most electric weeks on the schedule. The Stadium Course and its iconic par-3 16th, known as the “Colosseum” will be primed to entertain as a 123-player field featuring 10 former major champions and 11 of the top 20 players in the Official World Golf Ranking descends on Arizona. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler headlines the action for his second start of the season, returning to the site of his first TOUR victory and fresh off a win at The American Express, while two-time WM Phoenix Open champion Brooks Koepka joins him for his second start of the year since his return to the PGA TOUR. With sunny skies and ideal scoring conditions expected all week, the “Greenest Show on Grass” sets the stage for a star studded showdown that also includes Xander Schauffele, Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, Hideki Matsuyama, Ben Griffin, J.J. Spaun and FedExCup co-leader Chris Gotterup, alongside fan favorites such as Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau and Max Homa. As raucous crowds and Super Bowl weekend energy converge, TPC Scottsdale once again provides a uniquely charged backdrop for one of the TOUR’s most anticipated stops.
At least he gave a quick thumbs up.
Tom Kim up at 11.
He liked it.
I suppose he did.
Jeez.
How did that not go in?
He did a few greens today.
Went viral yesterday for a reason he didn't want to go viral for.
It's perfect.
And the birthday boy is a tap-in for Birdie to start the second round.
Easy to keep a golf ball flat
when you've got this kind of lie off the
kind of semi-hard pan.
This could turn out really good if he gets down there.
What a four this would be.
Needs to rally today.
I have no doubt.
This is aggressive.
And it's really well done.
Hovland back on course with his third shot up ahead.
Can't miss it left.
There you go.
You can miss it right there.
If it's that much left.
Up at 14.
Just pure.
Great sound it makes when he hits it.
I'd say he's dialed in today.
These guys are good.
Those are three lovely shots in there.
This is 14th.
With that mud ball, this is from where
Decky will play his third.
A little close as well.
But he's so good.
Nine and a half feet here.
Looks pretty good.
He's feeling it this morning.
Over to the par 3, fourth.
Here's Jordan Smith.
Smitty.
Right at the umbrella.
Go in the hole, Smitty!
That's a whale of a shot right there.
Much better swing here for Brooks Koepka.
Gets it to land softly.
What a beautiful shot there.
Much more confident swing than what we saw yesterday
with that driver.
Full cut.
Nine paces on, three off the right.
This is absolutely a go-for shot here
for Hideki Matsuyama.
How about go in?
I mean, he is taking direct aim right now.
Joel, who wears his feelings on his face.
This one is on the way for Birdie.
Oh my gosh!
Boy, did he need that.
Stone Coburn was here before these cactuses grew up.
This aggressive.
This aggressive!
What a shot from Austin Eckrode.
That's the best of the day.
He sure doesn't want two in a row.
That's more like it.
That's the Zander softly we know.
At the par 5, 13th.
Squeezed that drive way down there
in the thinner part of the fairway.
Tough to do.
Fantastic.
That might turn around, too.
Hold on.
We're not completed here.
It's getting more fantastic.
Has an opening here.
Cut spin, and look at that.
Isn't that reminiscent of Tiger in Mexico right there?
Yes, it is.
Tracing technology provided by TrackMan.
Finally, we got some kind of little excitement
out of this group.
Dominated the U.S. Amateur there.
Are you the big one now?
Get to him, finally!
Now you go in, and we needed it.
This was just a moment ago
on the 17th tee, Cam Davis.
This is aggressive over there.
Oh, this is fantastic.
Andrew McGee, Jr.?
We have not had an ace on a par 4
since Andrew McGee did it decades ago.
Cam Davis for the 2.
An eagle for big Cam over at the par 4, 17th,
and he needed it.
Not that easy.
You've got the little bit of fringe, of course,
and then you can see where the...
It's uphill where the grass is dark right till there.
Then it goes downhill and gets a little quicker,
but he has judged this one.
How about that?
See you tomorrow, Cam.
Wow.
Just barely get over there.
That needs to stop almost,
and it gets super fast.
That wasn't as fast as I thought.
That was beautiful.
Oh, my gosh.
Look how happy he is.
That was pure.
Oh, this is fun.
Just a couple of minutes ago,
John Perry has made three straight birdies
coming here to the 16th.
He's got it on a roll.
This is on a good line.
Just right of it.
Barely.
What a terrific shot in front of that huge crowd.
Cutting wind there.
Looks good.
And it is good.
More like it.
Maybe that will get him going.
I'm assuming he's going to be able to make that 4 or 5-footer.
The best always make it look easy.
Bud Colley at 16.
Nice little draw working in there.
He got the distance right as well.
Daniel Berger on the tee at 16.
You guys are taking advantage.
There's just a little wind out of the right.
That is so well played.
He's got a chance.
Chance.
Oh, it goes in.
Got him up.
What a shot.
The big man can pound it off the tee,
and he's got soft hands around the green.
What a combination.
Chris is now just one back of the lead.
Rosa.
Oh, another one from off the green goes down.
Back here, round 2, the WM Phoenix Open.
Max McGreevey getting his second from the bunker at 12.
Oh.
That was good.
That looks great.
What a shot from Max.
He looks perfect.
There's water just on the other side of that flagstick over there.
That's a pretty great shot.
At the 11th, Pearson Cootey's second.
He might have his little of a wedge.
Has a wedge into the 11th.
Which means he can do that right there after that great drive.
Game's sharp.
With the putter.
On cue.
Good choice.
He just didn't have enough green to work with to hit some sort of chip shot,
hit shot up there.
The New Zealander with back-to-back birdies.
Ryo Hasatsune has been playing some fabulous golf in 2026.
Tell you what, he putted well last week.
He went to work with Steven Sweeney on his putting,
and he gave him one little thing.
Over to 15, the par 5, Hasatsune.
This guy's a great ball striker.
Going for this par 5 in 2 out of the rough.
What a shot.
That hole location is up on a shelf in the back left.
How good is this?
He's going to have that for Eagle to get within one of Matsuyama's lead.
And fearless.
Saw that Tagawa's going 4-13.
2-19.
There's this ball right in the front right there.
They'd like to get it up on top if they can.
Oh, he hit right into the slope.
How good is that?
What a shot.
Tagawa like that.
Let's see Hasatsune over here at the 17th.
We saw him driving in that penalty area, making an unorthodox birdie.
Okay.
Unbelievable.
One in, two out, three in.
Okay, we got that right, didn't we?
I mean, look at the last five holes with the water ball.
He is six under for five holes while hitting one in the water.
Sigala was so close to winning this event a couple years back.
A ball that ended up finding the penalty area.
I see another bump there just like we were talking about.
And another.
Saw him hit Sigala.
Scottie Scheffler there.
It's really tough to doubt Scottie Scheffler.
After that two-over par 73, people were wondering how would he handle today,
not playing his best.
Would he be able to make the cut?
He didn't leave any doubt.
Make a read on Hasatsune in the final group last week,
and now on Sunday, now he's in the final group on Saturday here.
He's got a ton of confidence,
and he is comfortable playing late in the day on the weekend.
Watch out for him.
And Hideki Matsuyama's a two-time winner of the WM Phoenix Open.
Kurt, he loves this place.
He loves this place.
You know he was – I mean, before the tournament started,
you could almost count on him being in contention.
