Oh, you did such a good job.
Welcome to the show, everybody.
Hi, Jeff.
Hi, Jason.
What's new?
Oh, so many things.
I love this setup, Naveen.
Thank you so much.
And Naveen is here.
Naveen, come in and show everybody
how great you look today.
There we go.
And the rest of the podcast,
she's just in front of us.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
We just got a thumbnail.
Thank you so much, Naveen.
No, we were out on the mountain today
and I try to go hiking and there's two hikes.
There's Freiman and there's Runyon
and Freiman is a little bit easier.
We did Freiman yesterday.
It was good.
I went really slow.
And then today we're on Runyon.
Runyon's much harder.
And then about halfway through, what did you say?
She said, I go, yeah, I go, it's good though.
It's good.
I know it's hard, but we're getting there so good.
You're going to feel so good after.
She was like, no, it's not.
It's bad for my body and it's bad for my mind.
And then, and then I just was like, okay,
I'm not going to say anything.

It was very hard.
And she's supposed to stop halfway

And then.

Snooty's my favorite character.
I saw an Instagram reel the other day.
It was so funny.
And no one thought it was funny.
I thought it was so ******* funny.
It's a guy, he's like a fat guy,
and he goes, he's ordering.
He goes, hi, I'll have the chicken parmesan.
And then it cuts over to another guy,
and the guy's like, oh, chicken parmesan?
What are you, seven?
He's like, hi, yes, I'll have the golden branzino.
And that was it.
I thought it was so funny,
I think because I order chicken parm all the time.
Okay, so what are you doing?
What's going on?
You have parties up the Yang?
Yeah, I got, yeah, just, but they're not super special.
They're not.
Like what, where are you going tonight?
I'm going to a friend's party,
the late afternoon party.
Someone you like?
Yep.
Okay, okay.
Like them a lot.
Someone you vibe with?
Yes, good friends.
What will you talk about?
Oh, I don't, you know.
Like, what would be a general conversation?
What would be something you'd say?
Is it like, as a work person?
No, yeah, I've worked with them,
but we're friends' friends now.
And then there's a lot of people who work.
So there'll be some work talk.
There'll be a lot of talk, speaking of snoots.
Okay.
There'll be a lot of talk about,
because the co-hosts are really good cooks.
So it's not like you go and there's just like chips.
There's like-
Oh, they're foodies.
Yes.
And they do talk about the food that they prepare.
Which, you know, I fall victim to a lot,
but sometimes I'm telling some,
yeah, I'm telling somebody and they're like,
I can see they're like,
this is beyond what I thought
we would be talking about about this.
Oh, yes, yes.
I'm actually talking about preparing it.
Yes, yes.
I can see it in their eyes where they're like,
that I didn't, shouldn't have asked.
Yeah.
Wait, wait, you can see in their eyes
that you shouldn't have asked?
That they shouldn't have asked me
because all of a sudden I'm like-
Oh, you're alive.
I'm giving them way too much information.
And you're like, what kind of,
how deep is the parchment paper?
Is it, yeah.
Oh, and so you cooked out with a miso glaze?
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Or Morrie gets really mad because when I make food,
apparently I spend a lot of time asking if people like it.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And she's like, you should be more humble.
Oh, you're-
It's really good.
Oh, you're a fisher.
I fish.
Oh, yeah, you do do that.
I do.
Yeah, you do do that.
You're fishing for compliments.
I do.
I brought you food just so I could fish for compliments.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
That was the underlying reason.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, validation.
I know what you do.
You do this.
You'll go, you'll go.
Everyone will be eating.
It'll be so good because you are the best.
You're the best cook I know.
Other than maybe a pro, which I don't know any pros.
High praise.
And then you'll be like, you'll go, you'll go like this.
You go, put your head behind your ear and go, it's good.
It's good.
People, it's all right.
It's all right.
Everybody enjoying it?
Like that.
And we're like, yes, Jeff.
Yes, it's really good.
Did I do okay?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You ever have somebody that's like,
that you cook the food for
and they're just like not big eaters and you get upset?
Yeah.
I don't like when someone's like,
I'm not, that's just not my thing.
I'm like, well, make it your thing.
I ******* made it.
Yeah, I don't eat potatoes.
I'm sorry.
Eat them.
You're eating them today.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't, you gave me potatoes
and I don't even like potatoes and those are so good.
The next day.
Yeah.
Are you cooking over the holidays is the question.
Probably, we're going up to Maureen's mom's.
Yeah, I'll probably make something on Christmas.
Okay, okay, okay.
And Max comes home.
He's gonna want me to cook.
I can't wait.
Yeah, I know.
Let's go back to foot soccer.
I mean, foot golf.
Well, you also sent me something about this like,
and I don't believe one word of that,
that three minute incarceration brain thing.
Oh yeah, did you see that?
Yeah.
What do you mean you don't believe it?
I just don't believe that's possible.
There is a company called Cognify.
If you Google it and watch their video
and it's the future of incarceration is what it's titled.
Let's just use this for hypothetical,
a measly petty theft.
You can spend 50 years in prison.
What?
Nobody would.
The Cognify process, which in three minutes,
they will imprint memory sets.
Well, let's say there was someone who was even harmed
by the crime that you did.
You will be able to feel the emotions of your victim,
the emotions that the family members.
Isn't that wild?
Well, the thing that I understand is it will feel
like you are incarcerated for 25 years in your brain.
Right.
But you're only there for three minutes.
Yeah.
And then what, you go about your day?
Then you wake up and you're like,
I was in jail for 25 years.
And they're like, no, psych, three minutes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then you're like, don't you think you'd be like.
Mentally.
Broken, fucked up, if that's even real.
Yeah, and then that person's walking around in society.
Yeah, three minutes later.
I mean, I would 100% be like, well,
that was only three minutes, I'll do that all day.
We went to dinner last night and people tell me wild stuff.
I feel so old all the time.
People tell me, the man goes, yeah, there's a doctor.
And he's like, he basically figured out
how to cure death.
And I'm like, what?
And she's like, yeah, she's like,
he basically said he can bring people back.
He's like, if it's heart or brain, he can bring them back.
He's like, and he can bring people back.
He's brought people back that were denounced dead
for three days, up to two weeks, bring them back.
Like that.
And then I'm like, I'm hearing this news at dinner.
And I'm like, where?
Where did you see this?
She's like, I don't know.
You mean you don't know?
This is major news.
Yeah.
I'm like, she's like, I didn't write it down.
Didn't write it down?
Yeah, I'm like, she's like, I can't find it.
I don't know, I don't know where I saw it.
I mean, it wasn't-
That's the world we live in.
It wasn't on ABC News.
It was probably on TikTok and it is not real.
But isn't also, isn't that like,
haven't we learned like the mainstream,
not to get all ******* Joe Rogan-y here,
but the mainstream media never has like
the thing that we're supposed to be learning?
I don't know.
I mean, I think-
A little bit.
Yeah, a little bit.
But I think if something like that,
which is like, we can make people not die,
that's gonna get covered.
It's gonna get covered.
Well, I'll check ABC News.
Hey, I'm trying to, bro, I've been trying to watch.
I've been trying to watch.
I have two things to tell you.
I've been trying to watch San Antonio Spurs
for like two months.
Oh yeah.
I can't do it.
So, Webanyama.
I ******* go on my computer today
and they're playing tonight, six o'clock.
I'm gonna finally watch.
I think he's hurt.
You're kidding.
No, I'm serious.
Well, anyways, we were just saying
I wanted to watch the Spurs and Webanyama.
You have been trying for two months to watch him.
You're finally gonna get to watch him.
And you're saying he's hurt?
Let's find out.
Of course he's hurt.
The guy's back in seven, nine.
Yeah, he's hurt, probably.
He can't even walk into an elevator, probably.
Poor guy.
Unbelievable.
J-Dog's finally gonna be masculine,
watch sports, do my thing,
and Webanyama's on the DL.
Yep.
Are you kidding?
Has been dealing with a left calf strain,
which sidelined him for several weeks.
Bro, guys, we gotta make sure
I get to see Webanyama this year.
Can you guys remind me?
You know what?
What?
It's listed as probable.
He's probable?
He's probable.
I love that word in sports, probable.
Yeah.
He's probable.
Yeah.
I love sports words.
I used to know them all.
Then I did acid.
You know the story.
Oh yeah, it's all over.
Yeah.
He's probable.
Probable.
Damn.
Yep.
Okay, so.
You know what?
Yeah, tell me, new topic.
New topic, real quick.
Yeah.
And I don't think it's out there.
This is what sucks.
I feel like you can no longer find things
that used to be findable.
Okay.
They've stopped finding them.
Yes, yes.
And I was looking,
because do you remember when we wrote,
you mostly wrote it with Price.
You and Matt Price were doing promos for MTV.
Yes.
And this would never happen today.
Yes.
It would never happen.
So, wrote a bunch of.
We're so old man-y.
Interstitial.
This would never happen today.
They'd never do this.
You're back at the rehab center.
They'd never get behind anything like this these days.
It's just throwaway culture.
We wrote, remember Lilith Fair?
The Lilith Fair, yeah.
Yeah, and there was a tour that summer.
Oh yeah, yeah.
We wrote all these bits.
Yes, yes, yes.
To do, it was two, it was two.
Oh, I would love to find those.
I know, that's my problem.
They're gone.
I think they're gone.
But they were never on YouTube.
I think they were at one point.
They were.
I do think they were.
Well, I think maybe MTV pulled them down or something.
They probably did.
Yeah, there were just these promos we did for MTV
that the Lilith Fair was an all-female festival.
Jewel.
Sarah McLachlan.
Spend all your time waiting.
I used to ******* love Sarah McLachlan.
I used to sit and cry to Sarah McLachlan.
Because that just reminds you of your sister, I think.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
What I found amazing was, it was like,
every which way that should never have happened,
those interstitials.
And they were a ******* huge thing.
The thing was, we wrote some of them.
You guys mainly wrote them.
And then you were in them.
And you were different characters.
You were security guards.
You were selling bootleg T-shirts.
And then you were two girls.
Yes, yes, yes.
You were in drag.
Yes.
And you've been following them.
Yeah.
And you were like, and one of you said
the other one was getting really big.
I think Price was like, I hate to say it,
but you're getting really big.
And you were like, and you both had huge slurpees.
And then you were like, I'm just eating bounce bars.
That's what you said, Delta.
I'm just eating bounce bars.
Anyway, we were gonna do it in the parking lot
of the Lilith Fair concert at Metal Land's.
And then we got denied.
We couldn't go.
No, and so I was like, oh, ****.
Well, this genius idea is down the toilet.
And somebody was like,
you, we're gonna rent a park in New Jersey.
And they brought out like 100 people in buses
to recreate it.
Wow.
I know, that's what I mean.
They'd never do this today.
So you've searched it on YouTube.
It's not there?
Not in a long time.
I thought about it the other day.
Let's see, let's see.
Oh my God.
That would be funny if it was there.
Lilith.
My favorite thing is Price made a shirt
that he was selling called,
it was an Erykah Badu shirt.
And it said, Badu as I wanna be.
And after the shoot, I wanted that shirt so bad,
but there was only one of them.
No dice, right?
No, it's just a lot of mean things about me on the internet.
Oh yeah.
Now.
Price, if you're out there.
I think it was up at one time though.
I think you're right.
I remember maybe watching it or, yeah.
There was a bunch of those.
What else is going on with you?
I think, this is fun.
This is my favorite time of year.
I love it so much.
This?
Just love Christmas.
It's like, we're doing like a vision board night here.
And I don't know, there's something about it.
If it was like February, people wouldn't come.
But it's December, and it's like,
oh yeah, it's a party, let's go.
Yeah.
We had a lame holiday party.
You had an office holiday party?
Yeah, you know, we used to have holiday parties.
I love it!
You had an office party?
Yeah.
Holiday party?
Was it in the office or was it out?
It was in the office.
That's fine.
And this is new.
We used to have holiday parties.
Oh yeah, you used to tear it up, right?
Yeah.
Oh my God, back in the day,
there used to be go-go dancers and Hollywood clubs,
and somebody had sex in the bathroom,
and somebody else threw up on somebody
having sex in the bathroom.
Vodka luge?
Yeah, all, yeah.
Oh yeah, the old days.
I remember.
Dude, now it's like four o'clock.
I was like, there's not even,
there's only like bad wine and,
and it's my parent company's holiday party.
It's two buck chug.
This is the thing that I cannot, I cannot,
I know this is, I am wrong,
and I know that I am wrong.
Right.
But they somehow, this is the second year they did it,
and they put up in one of the rooms,
off the big, big room, they had karaoke.
Okay, fun.
Yeah, that's what I was like, I don't think so.
No.
I don't think so.
I don't want to watch people I work with sing karaoke.
Really?
Yeah, I don't know why.
I'm wrong, I told you, I'm wrong.
Okay, okay.
And even this year, I was like, God,
and again, this is like the nurse's station
with the storage doors in my brain.
I think two things in my brain that I never do,
and I was like, oh God, what if I get,
I go through this whole thing,
like no one's gonna corner me like,
you're doing karaoke.
But in my brain, I'm like, well, I better be prepared.
Just in case.
Just in case the moment strikes.
Yeah, exactly.
And they're like, oh no, come on, Jeff,
come up and do.
I know.
Come up and do cash out with us.
Yeah, that's the other thing is,
people sing like, hey, let's sing Regulators.
Oh, that's a great song.
I know it is.
Someone did Regulators?
Yeah, yeah.
Warren G?
Yeah.
Were they good?
I will tell you.
Yeah?
So last year, this person was like,
will you do Regulators with me?
And I was like, I will not.
I said no.
I will not.
Like, you gotta prepare for Regulators.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
You gotta prepare.
You can't just fuckin' walk up.
You can't just get up there and do Regulators.
No.
No, nobody can.
Well, there's the Warren G part,
and then there's the sort of chorus-y part.
I figured.
Probably wanted you for the Snoop part.
Yeah, not the main part.
Right?
Yeah, so I ventured into this year,
into the karaoke area.
Yeah.
And she had roped in another guy to do Regulators,
and I was like, aww.
You had your chance.
I had my chance.
You had your chance.
You said no to Regulators two years in a row.
Well, I said one year in a row.
That's the thing.
And then I was like, aww, man.
Yeah.
I wish, I almost went to her and was like,
you didn't ask me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Which she would have said, you said no last year.
Have you ever thought about just like opening up
and just being saying yes to Regulators?
I should have.
Saying yes to these things?
I should have.
Why don't you?
I mean, it's getting late.
I know, I don't have too many more office Christmas parties.
Not too many more of these.
Yeah, and according to the budget,
it looks like I don't even know
if they'll be able to afford karaoke next year.
I know.
That's what I'm thinking.
That's totally what I'm thinking.
You gotta seize the moment.
Yeah.
First, the go-go girls on the swing go,
and now we can't even have karaoke.
Regulators is so funny.
Oh my God.
At a Christmas party.
Yeah, and how was it?
Did they do okay?
They did okay.
The funny thing was is, I'm not super familiar with it,
but the main part, I think she does the main part.
But what happened was she put her thing in
and then he came up first and she's like,
wait, you're doing Regulators?
And the guy was like, yeah.
She's like, I put in for Regulators.
Two people wanted to do Regulators.
Yeah, and he goes, well, do you want to do it together?
And she's like, okay.
And she's like, but she got the other part.
And she was mad.
Oh, she wanted the star part.
She wanted the star part, yeah.
The part, the Warren G part.
The Warren G part.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's Snoop's cousin, Warren G,
who I guess is out of music, I don't know.
Hope you're well, Warren G.
Warren G.
Did you watch the P. Diddy doc?
No.
Oh, you gotta watch it.
Is it good?
That's crazy.
Is it the 50 Cent one?
Yeah.
Oh, I know the director.
You do?
Yeah, I hired her.
You should call him.
I hired her on storage one.
You should, we should have her come in.
Oh, yeah?
Oh, it's unbelievable.
I won't go too far into it,
but the one thing that's in the doc that's really wild.
They did a lot of wild stuff.
The one thing that's in the doc is wild
is there was like a murder like two years ago.
Uh-huh.
That like, I think P. Diddy did.
Really?
And they talk about that?
Yeah.
That is literally wild.
It's in like the fourth or fifth episode.
Really?
It's crazy.
I mean, P. Diddy's wild.
Like I remember, I remember,
I remember being like pretty into like MTV then
and like watching MTV and I remember seeing P. Diddy
and being like, this guy's not,
this guy's not a star.
Like this guy seems to be forced upon us a little bit.
You know what I mean?
Like when you see Jay-Z, you're like,
oh damn, this guy's ******* talented.
Yeah.
Right?
Or Biggie or whatever.
Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne, oh my God.
You're like, what?
And then P. Diddy was always kind of like, how?
And he ******* forced his way in there.
That's how.
Hey, you gotta see the doc, but.
We were.
Go ahead.
Oh, I was just gonna say,
we were around in all that stuff in the 90s.
Like.
Yeah, we were in New York.
New York.
Yeah.
I remember.
Yeah.
Like in the, like, my brain, dude.
Just the big battle, East Coast, West Coast battle.
That's when we were there.
I did.
That's in the doc.
It's in the doc?
Yeah, apparently Puffy paid someone
a million dollars to kill Tupac.
That's what the doc says.
Really?
And they have like a recording of a guy
who's going on trial next year for Tupac's murder.
He's like a gangster from,
and there's an audio recording.
The audio recording isn't really funny
because he's like, he's basically telling everybody
how P. Diddy gave him the million to kill Tupac.
And the guy on the other end, the cop,
is like, it's just weird
because he's like kind of trying to be like street too.
It just sounds,
it sounds like he's code switching a little bit.
Well, before like the Tupac,
right before the Tupac Biggie murders
was the MTV Movie Awards
and I was a production assistant for the MTV Movie Awards.
Remember how we got into the party?
Yes.
So I was a PA for the Movie Awards.
Yes.
LL Cool J came out on a motorcycle.
I had to like move horses around backstage.
It was crazy.
Oh yes, I worked on that too.
Yeah.
Yeah, I was a PA.
So I was a PA too.
And I had two things from that was,
they call me and they go, hey, come here.
And they're like, take this suit to like the,
like the, whatever the, the plaza or whatever,
a hotel like that.
Yes, yes, yes, I remember this.
They're like, deliver this suit
to Billy Corgan in the suite.
Oh.
Are you smashing pumpkins, Billy Corgan?
Are you ******* kidding me?
Right.
And so I just built it up in my head so much.
I was like, I'm gonna go there.
I'm gonna open the suite.
There's gonna be ******* coke everywhere.
People are gonna be shooting up heroin.
Yeah.
They're gonna be like, oh, suit guy, get in here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Party.
Like I'm on the cab, I'm in the cab on the way over.
Totally, that's what goes through your mind.
Yeah, totally.
Yeah, I've been in that situation.
I go into the hotel.
I'm like, I'm going up to Mr. Corgan's room.
I have a suit for him.
They're like, go ahead up.
Look stars.
Yeah.
And I knock on the door.
I probably won't be able to go back to work.
I know.
I'm probably gonna get fired.
They're probably gonna say, PA,
you're on the road with us now.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Knock on the door, door opens.
It's just an older lady.
And I'm like, hi, I have a suit for Mr. Corgan.
And she's like, oh, it's Billy.
She's like, Billy?
Yeah.
He's like, yeah, mom?
Yeah.
He's like, your suit's here.
Thanks, mom.
You could hear him, but you couldn't see him.
Yeah, no, didn't see him.
Delivered a suit to his mom.
Boringest thing ever.
I did the same thing to Tom and Roseanne.
I delivered something.
I was so excited.
Yeah, nothing.
I got to the door and.
How was it?
I don't even think they let me up.
And then I stole.
So I had to go back to home base.
And you were like, we got to get into that after party.
Yeah.
It was in Bryant Square, Bryant Square Park or whatever.
Yes.
Like on 40th Street.
And I was like, the big East Coast,
West Coast fight was supposed to happen.
Oh, yeah.
And you were like, dude, we got to get into that party.
And so I'm sitting in my boss's office.
Yeah.
And I have to go deliver something else,
like cash or something like that.
And then he's like, oh, you've got to deliver
passes for the after party.
Okay.
And I'm like, passes for the after party?
And so he's got this sleeve
of these plastic lanyard passes.
Damn.
And so he's like, going to give me some.
And then he goes, oh, hold on a second.
I got to go do something.
He leaves the room.
I go about halfway down the sleeve
and I pull out two of them.
No, you didn't.
Yeah, and I put them in my pocket.
That's how we got in.
No!
It's like I'm at the old folks' home.
You don't remember this either?
It's like I'm watching Storage Wars.
I can't believe I don't remember this.
You don't remember?
I remember going to the party,
but I didn't know that's how you got us in.
I got him and then he came back.
Damn, he did us right.
It was so crazy.
He came back in and he's like, okay, let me count these out.
And I didn't know they were numbered.
And he's going and he's like, 103, 104, 107.
And he's like, wait.
And I was like, oh, what?
And he's like, oh, these are sequentially numbered.
And I was like, whoa, that's weird.
And he's like, hmm, really quiet.
I'm like, do not break.
I almost was like, I'm sorry.
Right, right.
And gave them back to him, and I didn't.
And then he let it go.
I don't know what happened.
And I got out.
And then we had to go in.
We had to go in the back way or whatever.
And we walked right into almost a *******
East Coast, West Coast skirmish.
We did?
Yeah, there was like a bunch of dudes
on either side walking towards each other.
And he were like, go the other way, go the other way.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think I remember that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Scary times.
My one thing when I worked on that MTV thing
was I was a PA and Michael Jackson was performing.
Right?
Yeah.
Was he?
Is that the same year?
Yeah.
And there was a girl that was in the choir.
And she was a black girl.
She was great.
And you know, his choir was all black.
And so it was my job is to take care of this choir.
And then this one girl was super nice to me.
We were talking and I was like, wow, it's so cool.
Like, you sing with Michael Jackson.
Like, that's so ******* cool.
So I'm like talking to her and she's like,
what kind of music do you like?
Like that.
And I go, oh, I love Prince.
I don't know why I said that.
I probably said that because I thought
maybe she would like Prince.
And I go, I love Prince.
And she goes, oh, Prince?
He's bad.
Like that.
And that was the most white thing I've ever done.
I go, you don't like Prince?
She goes, no, he's bad.
Like, Prince is like the best.
And I was like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You were so, you knew it when it was coming out
of your mouth.
Like, oh, why?
Yeah, I had this thing last night that I remembered
when I was at dinner with Naveen.
We went to this new restaurant.
It was really fun.
It was called Gallery.
It's on Sunset.
It's where the den used to be.
Did you ever go to the den?
You east side people are so funny.
I was talking to somebody last night.
I was at a party and this guy was like,
I'm like, I was telling him about the restaurant
and he's like, I'm on the east side.
Yeah.
And like, he's like, honestly,
I used to live over here in West Hollywood.
And he's like, I don't come over here anymore.
I'm so happy on the east side.
I was like, all right.
And then another east sider chimes in.
I don't know if you guys know about like LA,
but like the east side, Silver Lake, Echo Park
and places like that are like hipster, cool.
It's much more.
But cooler now is Highland Park or El Sereno or all those.
And then you have West Hollywood and Beverly Hills,
which is more cheesy, more like, you know.
It is.
Sporto, jocks, whatever.
But then, and then another east sider heard him
and he was like, you're on the east side?
And he goes, yeah.
He goes, where are you at?
And I go, I'm right above the reservoir.
Like, oh, that's a great spot.
And then I was like, out of the conversation.
Morning was in the spa part of our gym club place.
She was listening to two, like in the sauna,
listening to girls talk.
And one was like, she was so eavesdropping.
One was like, I just love Echo Park.
I love, I can't, you know, Elysian Heights, Echo Park.
I can't afford it.
We're like, we're over in like Monterey Park now.
I just wish I could, but I can't.
But we pay 5,500.
In Monterey Park?
Or like Baldwin Hills or something.
In Baldwin Hills, it's 5,500?
It's probably like El Sereno or like-
El Sereno, I've never heard of.
Glassell Park.
Glassell, I've heard of,
because they have like hip restaurants there now, right?
I don't even know what that is.
Is that downtown Glassell Park?
No, it's like east.
No, Glassell's like beyond Highland.
Just a little, it's like-
Welcome back to LA Today with Jeff Baumgartner
and Jason Nash.
You know what I say is, and I sing it, I go,
never go west of Western.
What song is that?
It's like, never go back to-
Oh, I never go back to Georgia.
Yeah, something like that.
I never go back to Georgia.
I never go west of Western.
That's the most east side thing I've ever heard.
That is the most east side thing.
Anyway, so yeah, so then we were there last night,
we were at this restaurant.
And it's so funny, I love when these moments happen.
I don't know how-
Oh, Naveen got tuna tostada.
It comes out, it's three tuna tostadas.
It's like a round cracker with tuna tostada.
I know what a tostada is.
Yeah, it's great, it's awesome.
So I take a bite of one, I'm like, oh, it's so good.
And then she takes a bite, and then she says to me,
she goes, here, my mouth isn't big enough,
can you start this for me?
And I go, oh yeah, yeah, sure.
And it reminded me, when I was a kid,
I told Naveen, I go, I used to say that to my dad.
I would have a big apple.
Yeah, and you'd need him to start it?
I would say, hey, can you start this apple for me?
And without ******* ever missing a beat,
he wouldn't laugh or anything.
He'd go, yeah, I can start it for you.
And yeah, he's a big guy, so he'd be like.
Huge biter.
He'd take a big ******* bite.
Then he'd always be like, all right, man,
you ******* ate a heavy apple.
Because I thought that was, I was ******* dying.
We were dying at dinner, start an apple.
Say that to Max when you see him.
Yeah, you want me to start that for you?
Do you imagine if I just said that now?
Almost 20 years old, he's going to get an apple.
I'm like, ho, ho, you need me to start that for you?
See what he says, say it to Maureen.
You want me to start that for you?
Hey, Pop, can you start an apple for me?
I think that's so funny.
I start cutting up his meat.
Yeah, yeah.
Hey, could you cut up my meat?
Well, anyways, I guess that's a good podcast.
Wow, way to end it.
Well, we can go for a few more minutes.
You got something.
No, no, no, I just love how.
Well, tell me, I don't want you to leave here.
I want this podcast to be therapeutic for you.
So I don't want you to leave here and think.
You don't think it is?
I didn't say, I didn't get the thing
off my chest I needed to say.
Because I do that all the time.
Oh, yeah.
On the other podcasts, I'll leave and I'll be like,
oh, ****, I didn't, why didn't I say that?
I think I did.
I think I also, the only other thing I would say
is I've got to break the habit.
Do you ever do something that your parents do
and you're like, and you don't like that you do it?
It's a trait or something like that?
Oh, yeah, I have a specific thing right in my mind, go.
Christmas present procrastination.
Oh, okay, your parents procrastinated?
My dad would procrastinate.
And you're procrastinating?
I, every year, kind of go through this issue
where I'm sort of like, I gotta get,
like around Thanksgiving, I'm like, not this year.
I get a couple gifts.
Who do you have to buy for?
Just Marie.
Oh, that's the hardest though.
It's the hardest.
Do you procrastinate?
Or you have it all done?
Like, what do you do?
I don't, I don't buy gifts.
What do you do?
I just don't give anybody anything.
You don't give any gifts?
No, I give, I give, I give people,
I give people that I love things all year.
Yeah.
You know, like Charlie needs like $50.
Yeah.
I give it to her.
Yeah, but you don't buy your kids gifts?
No, because they have like a very expensive education.
And that's their, I say that's, that's your gift.
That's it.
100%.
But the wife, she deserves a gift.
And that is tough.
And I have one idea for Naveen.
Yeah.
Are you in there?
That was the most sick, that was the most sick comment.
You son of a B.
She's, she is so Snoopy and nosy.
Is Maureen Snoopy?
You've met Maureen.
Are you listening?
Yeah, you are.
I know you are.
I know you're gonna,
and I know you're gonna bring up the story
about the girl at the MTV Music Awards that I told.
But I was like 20 years old.
No, nevermind.
I didn't do anything bad.
I'll tell you later.
Don't say it like that.
He didn't do anything bad.
Wait, why did you come out?
What were we talking about?
Come sit.
First of all, it was the most sitcom-y,
the most, well, you're not in.
Oh, there you go.
Here, pop in, pop in.
No, no, you're so good, I'll do that.
Actually.
No, no, no, no.
Oh, this is perfect.
This is great.
What were you?
We were talking about Christmas presents,
and I inherited a trait from my dad that I do not like,
which is procrastinating.
For gifts.
Like you take too long?
Yeah, I haven't bought anything.
You gotta do it on Black Friday.
Oh, that's a really good plan, actually.
You just buy the gifts at that time.
But then you end up getting things
that are just like you don't necessarily want,
just because it's on sale.
But no, no, you get stuff for other people.
Yeah, but that would mean I would have to think
beforehand of what they want.
Right.
I feel good about my choices, and then.
So you're not even thinking of what they want.
I mean, I have ideas, but I just cannot.
What do you got, what do you got?
What do you got?
No, cannot talk about that.
You gotta start a notes list throughout the year,
like when someone says something,
like anytime Jason says he wants something, or like.
That's too hard.
Do you procrastinate?
It doesn't sound like you do.
I don't do gifts, but I'll do a gift.
This is unbelievable.
I do like three gifts.
He doesn't do gifts either.
Yeah.
Try this, go to Maureen and be like, hey.
No gifts this year?
No.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
No, we've done that.
We've been like, let's just,
we'll get stuff for the kids, no gifts.
Yeah, and then she gets it.
And then I get to it.
Oh, that's the worst.
And then sometimes.
I thought we said no gifts.
Then she'll say, she'll go, like right before Christmas.
And I'm like, no, no, we said no gifts.
And she's like, that's okay.
I bought some things for myself that you can wrap up.
That's sweet, I like that, I like that.
And I feel terrible.
But does she care?
Like that you didn't get her anything?
I think a little.
Yeah, yeah.
But I always get her something.
It's just, it becomes, I get a little like, you know,
frozen, and then I would get like, oh.
And you know, this is the age we live in.
I don't need to be ******* driving around LA
looking for a gift.
Do you want to hear a snowman?
Well, here's a good idea I saw on Pinterest.
You can do a gift where it's like sight.
Have you seen this?
It's like all the senses, right?
Whatever they are.
What are they?
Yep, hearing, smell.
So you do a gift for each one.
So it could be like little, like sweet things,
but then it looks like this grand gift.
Oh, just well thought out.
Yeah, so it's like a perfume for scent,
for like something else.
It's like a cute, like it's like.
High glass cleaner for sight.
Yeah, like just like be like.
High glass cleaner for sight.
You don't, don't jump on this trend.
Yeah.
Yeah, gifts is tough.
We were talking about gifts,
and Naveen thought it was so funny that in our family,
Wyatt and Charlie say what they want.
Well, a lot of families.
A lot of families.
And then my sister and mother will get what they want,
and then they open it up.
And Naveen was kind of like, well, why?
They, it's why are you even wrapping it up?
They know what they want.
But yeah, that's just the process that we do it.
That's the terrible.
But it is, but Naveen brought a great point,
which is to ******* go out and buy something for somebody
that they didn't ask for, that they love.
Or something that you said in passing.
That's killer.
Oh yeah.
It's like so sweet.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That backfires though sometimes.
You can say something in passing,
and you're like, you know, a bow and arrow set.
But you said that.
You said you'd like to try archery.
Like, oh, I was just talking.
You've been crying about a food dehydrator,
but I feel like you wouldn't actually like it.
Let's talk to the expert foodie over here.
Jeff, what's your thoughts on a food dehydrator?
Who wants a food dehydrator just for strawberries?
I just, I feel like this is gonna go for like a month.
This is like a home exercise bike.
Oh yeah.
You'll use it, and then it's just gonna be
a thing you put your clothes on.
You're not gonna use a,
can't put clothes on a food dehydrator.
If I got the food dehydrator,
do you think we could figure out
how to put strawberries in there?
Why do you wanna do that?
Why don't you just eat fresh strawberries?
Why do you need to dehydrate?
Because at night, if I buy these dried, wet strawberries,
so not like a crunchy strawberry.
They're dried, and they're wet.
And they taste like, they basically, they're like.
Tastes like someone else chewed a strawberry,
and then packed it.
No, no, no.
They taste like gummy bears,
but they're really good for you,
and there's no sugar.
It's just natural sugar.
So you wanna make them yourself?
Yeah, because they're so expensive.
Oh, wow.
That's how much you eat them?
Just don't eat them so much.
I mean, it's like a mental thing with me.
If I have my dried strawberries, I won't eat anything else.
Oh, well then maybe it's worth it.
Yeah, maybe.
You're gonna go through that process,
the dehydrating process?
I will have to see Christmas Day if it's under the tree.
Maureen will buy gifts, and she will start buying it.
She'll, like last year, everybody got some version
of like a cashmere sweater.
But it just.
It's nice, but what's really,
I find hilarious and also crazy
is the word cashmere gets said 400 times on Christmas.
It's like someone else opens it,
she's like, it's cashmere.
It's like making cashmere.
Yeah, that's a word that if you say a lot.
Do you like the cashmere?
I got everyone cashmere.
I don't know if everybody wants cashmere,
but I got everyone cashmere,
and I got myself a cashmere.
I wrapped it up, and you gave it to me.
It's cashmere, cashmere.
Just keep saying cashmere.
She said the word cashmere five million times.
She says it so much that the word
starts to jumble in your mind.
Cashmere, cashmere, cashmere, cashmere.
I almost got the dog something cashmere,
but that was crazy, so I didn't get dog.
Wait, wait, wait, last thing.
Tell me what you think of this.
Naveen saw something online,
and she really, really wanted to buy it.
She put it in her cart.
Is it dumb?
I bought it.
Is it dumb if you just got it?
What?
Were you gonna get it?
I was gonna get it for her, but she just bought it,
but it's a foot massager.
Like, you put your feet in it.
It's a heated foot massager.
Good or bad?
I would love one of those.
I think feet massagers.
I never get them.
It's good?
Yeah.
I feel like that's a gift to give someone,
because you feel weird buying it for yourself,
and then it's so good.
When's it get here?
Three days.
I am tracking it.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
All right, well, this was fun.
I'm gonna come over and use the foot massager.
Yeah.
We're gonna get some guests on here.
Our first guest right now.
Yeah, first guest.
How does it feel?
Oh, oh my gosh.
It's, what an honor.
Maybe get another chair next time
when we do have a guest on.
You did this setup.
Maybe, you know.
You're so funny.
You didn't treat the guests well.
Did you like this setup, though, Jeff?
This was like a full vision I had for two guys talking.
I was like, there needs to be chairs.
I love it.
What about a kitchen setup?
I think we do good talking in the kitchen.
Oh, you should have a cooking show.
Oh, do you wanna do one where we cook something?
Oh, that's such a good idea.
Yeah, you wanna make something?
Cooking show coming up, guys.
Thank you.
What's it?
Cooking.
Cooking podcast?
Cookcast.
Cookcast, yeah, good, Jeff.
Way to go, way to truncate it.
Writing's rewriting.
Don't we have fun, us two?
I love, it's like we're all three on the same wavelength.
Just the boys.
You know, you have a sign-off,
and we've not figured out if I should have a sign-off.
Oh, someone gave you a sign-off idea in the comments.
What was it?
Because someone sent me a sign-off.
Okay, well, read the one they sent you.
Well, our friend Paul S. wrote me and said,
at the end of the last pod,
when Jay asked what your sign-off should be,
you said, let's crowdsource it.
And I thought you were suggesting that as your sign-off,
which I think it probably should be.
That's great.
So you say, you say.
I say, stay lit.
Let's crowdsource it.
I don't know.
I like it.
You think that'll stick?
That's cool.
Okay, I like it.
That's really funny.
All right, well, we'll be back another time next week,
hopefully, if Jeff can get over here.
Yeah, I'll be here.
