We made it to Morocco! Haha FINALLY 😂 Problem is - we weren't ready for Marrakesh! 😂 After a pretty shaky start to the whole trip, we landed in Tangier by foot and van and headed straight for the wild - Marrakesh! مراكش Oh, what a city to explore! Medinas, palaces, mosques riads, incredible street food and hustlers.. it's truly great to be back in a city that feels SO alive! If you can take one thing away from this video... it's to not get robbed 👍🏻
What is happening guys, we're Craig and Amy and you are watching Kim and Liz.
And if you've seen some of our missions on YouTube, you know that we love getting stuck
into a country and seeing what it's all about.
From the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara Desert, we cannot wait to show you around, learn about
this unique culture and see what it's really like to travel this country in a van.
Everything's popping open and sh** is flying everywhere.
That'll do.
We have got three months to explore this epic country and we're going to get royally stuck
in to the medinas, the riyads, the hammams, the foods.
It's been a mad few weeks so far, but it hasn't all been rainbows and smiles.
Marrakesh has taught us a lesson or two already and we ended up getting taken down a lane
and they took all of our money.
Okay, I'm not going to fight with you.
I definitely didn't sign up for this.
Are you friends now?
Yes, all time is friends with our money.
So click subscribe and tune in every Sunday as we travel Morocco and meet other vanlifers
on the roads.
We left Tangier and headed south.
We decided to head right into the centre of it all and made a beeline for Marrakesh.
After a few rough nights of sleep in truck stops and busy streets, we ended up finding
an oasis of a campsite just outside the city.
But on our drive down, our brakes had started to sound like they were grinding pretty badly.
Luckily we found a mechanic just around the corner from the campsite and as we were reversing
into the garage, our back tyre burst.
Yeah, watch out for what he's done.
No you don't.
Stop, we'll stop a minute.
So while we were reversing into the mechanic's and we just heard...
We then found out that our brake pads were non-existent.
So we were literally just breaking metal on metal.
And to top it off, we had another leak in the hot water tank which is now broken.
A solid start for Team Chocolate Teapot.
Oh no, that was supposed to be a beautiful shot.
This smells like lovely coffee and now we're going to smell like your bum hole.
Just gotta let it out.
Hang on.
Can you hear that?
Oh god.
Get out.
From Morocco.
We made it, babes.
I'm not sure if you've seen the palaver that we went through to get here.
If you haven't, click up here, but we're safe, we're sound.
I feel like this is the calm before the storm, but I'm so excited to go in and see it.
I know Marrakesh is probably the most touristy spot we could come to, but we really wanted
to like feel the energy, the vibes around sort of like a big bustling city, you know.
So I'm very excited to go in.
But before that happens...
Tidal fall!
That is freezing.
First off, right into the heart of the Medina Please drive.
You know when there's like a language barrier and for some reason you shout louder because
you think that they'll understand.
No, you shout louder.
I think I do that, yeah.
I am made to the Medina Please 100.
And the guy's like...
He's like, alright, love.
Calm down, babes.
I know you're on your holidays, but just calm down, will you?
First off, to try a traditional Moroccan dish.
I'm only joking, lads.
Leave the chickens alone.
Anything that comes my way is a yes from me.
Welcome to Marrakesh!
Have we got a juice?
Yes.
Here we go, lads.
We're going into the Medina.
Apparently it is like a labyrinth, like a maze of shiny goodness.
If you were a magpie, you'd be loving it.
Watch Amy get scammed about 40 times now.
No, no, I am going to try bargaining.
One of my friends said that they love it.
If they give you a price, you have to bargain or they'll be like, no, no, you know, bargain
for the price.
That's what you need to do.
Keep it down, babes.
They can all hear you.
We do want a rug.
We want a rug.
But we're not sure how much to pay for it.
If anyone's been, please comment below.
If you've got a rug, how much did you pay for it?
We've already lost Amy to one of the touts over there.
She's just so easy to rope in.
I just give him the nod and keep walking.
And he's like, my sister lives in Wales.
And Amy's like, did she?
And now she's chatting away.
Sell her anything.
Look at her.
That's my guy.
She's gone, lads.
She's gone to this fella.
This is a bit of a problem when I travel with Amy.
Because two steps into the Medina, we're on a random tour.
Smell this.
It's great.
After a quick demo on how argan oil is made,
we had our first hit of the Moroccan white stuff.
Sniff my hand.
Yeah, I knew it.
Stay fart.
Oh, yeah.
And don't worry, it's from Morocco, not Colombia, OK?
OK.
That's legal.
Stay fart.
Très bien.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
You are a good sniffer, by the way.
That's your first sight?
Merci beaucoup.
That is my first time sniffing.
OK, good.
Amy, I'm very good.
I feel like I can breathe in 4K.
Will you just behave, please?
Honestly, I'll leave her for two minutes.
I'm having a great time.
This is everything that happens.
I mean, I love shopping.
OK, so we've taken a step out of the hustle and bustle
just for, like, a breather.
A lot of you guys recommended this place on Instagram,
so thank you very much.
It's called Le Jardin, I think.
It's a restaurant.
It's emerald green.
The whole place is just...
It's just breathtaking.
You could just be walking down the road,
like a dusty road in the Medina,
and you just look right.
And, like, the tiles and, like, the ceramics
and just the architecture here
is just next level.
It's so, so pretty.
After we have our lunch here now,
we're going to go for a traditional hamam,
which everybody's recommended.
It's like a spa,
but, like, a traditional Moroccan spa.
I'm really excited.
It's, like, one of the only things
I wanted to do here,
so I'm buzzing.
And the lady's just got back now,
saying,
you will not need to bring anything with you
as we provide bathrobes, slippers,
secure lockers,
and disposable briefs.
I can't wait to see you
in your disposable briefs, Craig.
This looks epic.
So this is a traditional Moroccan dish
called tagine.
It comes with, like, a little
pottery chimney
to cook it in.
It's amazing.
Yeah, it's just, like, vegetables
and loads of oils
and herbs.
It's meant to be banging.
There's olives in there as well
for a bit of saltiness.
It always comes with bread as well
if you dip it in the sauce.
I'm literally salivating already.
It smells so good.
Thanks for the recommendation
for that place.
Lovely food,
but it was £21 for that.
So any cheaper recommendations
next time,
please let us know.
Because, yeah, we can't be eating like that
the whole time we're here
because we'd go bankrupt.
Some local spots, you know.
Yeah.
Ready for your disposable pants?
It's quite posh, this one.
So we've got a robe,
some slippers
and some throwaway pants.
So, er,
got my disposable pants on.
Styling!
Lovely robe.
I feel like a drug lord.
Not so sure about the, er,
shoes, though.
Green's not my favourite colour.
Let's go and see what this is
all about.
I actually think I'd put mine on backwards
because the back bit's, like, thicker.
I need some coverage.
Right up my bum, holy.
This is incredible.
I think we're in a sauna.
You can't really see me
but this is really relaxing.
Really amazing.
For a second
because it's absolutely boiling in there.
I feel like if you're afraid
of getting nude
in front of somebody else
or, you know,
if you're afraid of them touching your body
perhaps it isn't for you
but, honestly,
don't be afraid.
Your body is beautiful.
Get it out
and enjoy this experience
to the fullest.
What an experience that was.
Oh my goodness.
I'm pretty sure
she swapped my scrubber
for some P20 sandpaper
at one point.
Oh.
And I think I'm bleeding.
She was scrubbing back skin
from 2009, mate.
I think I'm used to it, though
because I fake tan.
She's just done me
an exfoliating favour.
I'm literally about
two stone lighter.
I showered
and half my body
was in the drain.
Yeah, I had, like,
dead skin everywhere.
It was so...
just...
I want to do this
every day, Craig.
There'll be nothing
left of you.
This is literally
the cleanest
we'll ever be
in our whole lives, babe.
I think so.
I'll never be cleaner
than right now.
Cheers to that.
Do I look 21?
I smell flippin' lush, Craig.
I smell banging.
I'm not gonna wash again
ever
in my life.
That was really lovely.
So we had
the two-hour
tour of Morocco,
it was called.
So it was an hour
hamam
and an hour
massage.
And I cannot
recommend it
highly enough.
How much was it?
Did you pay?
Yeah, it was
800 dirham
each.
Totally worth it.
You pay, like,
£80 for a massage
at home
but the full experience
and you get this
really nice tea
as well
and, yeah,
just the whole place
is like
it's like a museum
in there.
Sorry we lost you
there for a minute.
We left the hamam,
got very lost
in the medina
and then
we ended up
getting taken down
a lane
and they took
all of our money.
So...
It's just such a shame.
Like, the day
was so wicked.
Just before
we carry on, though,
it was only £4
but it's not
the point.
This is what happened.
We basically
just said,
well, where's the square?
And this guy
heard us say square
he said,
oh, you want to go
to the square?
And then
he started walking
he said,
go down here,
turn left,
follow me.
And then he said,
oh, my friend
will take you.
He said,
follow him,
he's a good man.
But basically,
yeah,
we ended up
down this alley.
Two guys
came out of nowhere
so there was
three of them
and I was
getting,
I got my wallet
out to give him
like 10 dirham
to say thanks
which is like
80p.
for taking us.
And so
when I took my money
out,
this guy
appeared from behind
me and he was
like,
no,
small bill,
small bill.
And I was
like,
I've literally
got no money,
we need an ATM.
We didn't need
Luckily,
I only had
like 50 dirham
in my wallet.
Which is about
£4.
And it all just
dawned on me
straight away.
They sort of
gathered,
you know,
it was intimidating
and I was just like
And the alley
was like super,
it was like
thinner than the bus.
Yeah,
and there was
nobody around
and I just thought
Also,
he'd seen us
with our camera
and because there
was three of them
like,
as soon as
I realised
we were getting
scammed,
I was like,
the adrenaline
kicked in
and so I just
gave him
he saw like the 50
in my wallet
and I just gave him
that and we walked off.
No,
and the guy goes
yeah,
and give the coins
to the other guy.
So like,
they took it all
out of the wallet.
Like,
of course,
it wasn't a lot
of money,
but
Luckily,
it wasn't though
because the day
before I had
quite a wad
in there.
We'd taken
some out,
yeah.
But yeah,
lesson learned.
If you're going to go there,
know where you're going
and have a map
so you can pin
where you need to go
because like,
I didn't even know
where the square was.
I don't know.
I just feel like
So we're going to get
into bed,
we're going to get
some ice cream,
we're going to put
a film on and we're
going to just
hold each other.
After crying
ourselves to sleep,
we got up with
fresh heads
and headed back
to the city.
This time
with a solid plan.
Don't get robbed.
We started
the rest of the day
with a fancy
rooftop breakfast
and after that
decided we needed
some culture in our lives.
Come to a palace.
Shh, quiet.
Not sure what it's called
but it's something
about being a baddie.
But whoever used
to live here
was obviously a baddie
because it's amazing.
Jessie Nelson,
she's been here before.
Stunning architecture.
I swear to God,
the security guard
is following us.
I think it's because
we've got the giggles
and I think he thinks
we're going to
nab something.
There's loads of
orange trees over there.
Should we go make
a little orange juke?
Should we nick a couple?
Well for the price you pay
you would expect
to get some oranges
out of this.
Seven quid each it was.
Not sure.
He's going to arrest us.
Pretty soon.
He's following us
around the whole temple.
Welcome to Morocco lads.
Absolute treat to be here.
The temperature's
lovely as well.
When the sun comes out
it's like really hot.
When it goes in
it's nice and cool.
But I can't imagine
walking around here
in the height of summer
just like blistering heat.
Alright then,
Einstein Junior,
who owns this place?
It was built by a sultan
No way!
called Ahmed Al Mansur
of the Sardian dynasty.
They actually exist?
Sultans?
Yeah.
I thought I was just on Aladdin.
No, it's a real thing.
So apparently he built this
to just show how
stupidly rich he was.
It was built in the 1500s.
It's got like an
orangery there.
Anyone know what it's called
when there's like
loads of orange trees?
I think...
Orangery?
An orangery.
Orangery?
That's what it's called.
Is it actually?
Yes babe,
that's what I've been saying it.
I'm taking the mic.
You're taking the piss.
By the way,
I've changed
what I want to be
when I grow up.
You know,
I wanted to be like
a whale tour guide
or a chocolatier.
I want to be a sultan.
Can you hear that?
Yeah.
One of the coolest things
about this place
is the storks
with giant nests
just built on top of the palace.
Look at them
chilling up there.
They're the ones
that bring the babies.
Yeah, they bring the babies.
In the little
drop them off.
Cloths, yeah.
Yeah.
You won't quite believe
where we are.
This is the menu.
Absolutely
incredibly
beautiful.
Amazing.
I felt so impressed
walking into a place
before.
We literally thought
this was going to be
a cafe selling coffee.
And it's like,
it's just incredible.
You can literally
order coffee
from any place
in the world.
They've got
every country
that makes coffee
it's on the menu.
And they've got
so much decaf
as well.
What's the most expensive
coffee on the menu?
They've also got coffees
that are like
extremely rare.
There's one on here
it's 1,100 dirham
per person
which is like
100 pounds
for a cup of coffee.
Woah.
I'm tempted to order
just to see what it's like.
Shaken
Iced
Kibira
Rain Coffee
new place.
Alright guys
the coffee
has been served
in this wonderful
piece of art.
You going to taste it?
I literally feel
like I'm on the set
of a Wes Anderson movie.
Yeah.
Guys walking around
with a little Moroccan hat.
Yeah, yeah.
It's so fancy.
It looks like
a film set.
It does.
It's so cool.
It's no wonder
we had to pay to come in.
Two quid to get in mate
what a bargain.
Really sweet
it's almost like
a caramel-y flavour.
Yep.
Is this the Marrakesh Express?
Yeah.
It's the caramel-y one
that we've got.
Even the name
sounds like a Wes Anderson film.
Yeah.
So good.
What a spot.
Cheers.
So we found ourselves
in a place called
Ate Cafe
thanks to our mates
Nick and Hannah.
If you don't know
who they are
they've got the best blog
on the internet
called
sultanarehere.com
If you want to travel
anywhere in the world
they've probably been there
so go and check it out.
This place is banging.
We've got a view
of the Ben Youssef Mosque
over there
and just
another rooftop banger.
So cheers lads.
I won't lie
I can't be doing
these rooftop cafes anymore.
I'm absolutely shattered.
And now that we're in Morocco
Trevelini
loves a tagine.
Don't speak to me
I'm absolutely starving.
I'm filthy.
I'm pretty sure
last month
we were like
New Year, New Me
and we said we'd come off bread.
We're going to be so fat
after this trip free
because the Moroccans
make the best bread.
They make sick bread
and it comes with every dish.
OK
Prepare these
homes.
Rock, paper, scissors
who does the toilet?
Yes.
Rock, paper, scissors
shoot.
Yes.
Best of three.
Rock, paper, scissors
shoot.
Yes.
Funniest part
was I was just about to do that
and then Amy offered
a rock, paper, scissors challenge
so there you go.
I've done the whole bag.
I mean I've done the whole bag.
Look at the state of it.
Just do me a favour
go on.
Because I'm
the best boyfriend in the world
I'll take one for the team.
They're mostly yours anyway
and your ones are massive
so
I probably wouldn't be able
to hold the bag anyway.
Merry Christmas.
Van life chores
also include
emptying the grey waste
and emptying our pee
into this throne.
How posh is that?
Alright everything in here
is squeaky clean.
Well done babes.
Well done to you too.
Now that Custard
was squeaky clean
we headed into the medina
with our new friends
James and Chloe
for another adventure.
So clever.
Shall I ask them
if I can have a go?
Yeah.
So this fella
is making the chess pieces
using this little
device.
I want to buy a chess board
but I haven't told him yet
but I'm going to try and
barter him down.
Present, gift.
Thank you so much.
He's literally
just made this
with his feet.
So
I want to go
I really want to go.
Shall I ask him?
I think my feet smell
a little bit more than his.
How much?
250 dirham.
I'll give you 150.
225.
170.
Because you gentlemen
can have 200.
Alright, last offer
180.
She can.
180?
Ok.
I'll give you a little later on.
Is that a mirror?
No it's not.
It's not a mirror.
This place is like a labyrinth
of Moroccan antiques.
I think this is one of the best
parts about the medina.
There's so many shops
and you can literally
spend hours in here
and if you're in a good mood
it's a great place to be
because you meet
some legends
who just want to show you everything.
Gym shorts.
Little bathrobe.
Scroll for your nan.
Vase for your uncle.
Treasure chest
for your auntie.
Woah.
This place is amazing.
It's class, isn't it?
But this is the ring
I'm looking at.
It must be real silver.
It's £120.
I haven't even
bartered with him yet
and he said 50.
Which is still a lot.
I'd probably pay like
£25 for it.
How do you know
that's not made of foil though?
Well it doesn't actually
have one of those
little things on it
but he makes them.
Shall I wear it for a bit?
If it goes green
I won't bite it.
It's a bit tight.
We haven't ordered loads
but it's a very small table.
If you want to come
it is a hell of an experience.
It's brilliant.
The food is pretty pricey.
For all that food
we paid like £42
for four people.
But it's a hell of an experience
honestly.
I'm really
I'm so happy
that we've had such
a wonderful day today
and we've met so many
lovely people.
It's just
it's brought back the love
for like Marrakesh
for being out
for being around the people
and such a buzz
around the town tonight.
I don't know if it's
because it's Saturday night
that all the locals are out
or if this is like
a nightly thing
but it's so cool.
I love how everyone
just comes out
they gather in the night market
everybody eats together
they sing together.
It's wonderful.
Really wonderful.
We're on a spot
called the Glacier Cafe.
There's a balcony
apparently you can sit up there
and just watch the night market.
Watch it all happening
from the top.
Get a little mint tea.
You can smell it
and experience it
from the quietness
of the rooftop.
So Amy's bought
this box of desserts.
We have no idea
what's in it.
We said to the guy
no eggs no butter
and he was like
no.
Yeah we've got about
seven in there.
They look lovely.
We're in the dice tonight
aren't we?
With all this food.
Yeah.
Stay close to the toilet
tomorrow.
Usually they bring
the mint tea
with loads of sugar in it
and it's just too much for me
even though I've got
a real sweet tooth.
So this is
this is great
without the sugar.
Before we sign off

we just wanted to tell you
about our brand new

and for ruling your
own world.
But that is it
for this week guys.
Thank you all so
so much for leaving
such lovely comments
on the last video
where I travelled
on my own and I
was very anxious.
You're just the best.
It just makes
everything like
worthwhile and I
really did feel like
I wasn't alone on
that trip because I
was chatting to you
guys.
I think it really
helped me out with
like progressing with
the trip.
Yeah.
So just remember
guys I know it's tough
and I know a lot of
you out there suffer
with anxiety.
It just hits the best
people doesn't it?
I just want to say
honestly you can
rule your own world.
You can do this.
If I can get
through it even though
it was majorly
uncomfortable you can
100% do it.
And really do think
about pushing yourself
out of your comfort
zone because I'm
here now.
We're in Marrakech.
And it's just the
best.
It's always worth
that trip and it's
always worth the
anxiety so if you
can try and do it
try and do it.
And always
remember rule your
own world.
1, 2, 3, Fight!
