In this video, I’m upgrading my CFMoto 450 MT to make it more comfortable for colder rides.
We’re installing heated grips and fitting a Hepco & Becker handlebar riser to improve ergonomics and long-distance comfort.
Good morning everyone and welcome to another video. Today is mod day again and we will install
two things on my CFMoto 450 MT. I'm at Moto Fun Sports in Falkensee again and Ronny will help me
to install first some heated grips, the original ones from CFMoto and the second thing we are
installing are some handlebar risers from Hepco and Becker. These are two centimeter risers and
they will hopefully give me a little bit better riding position. Before we start with the
installation of the heated grips I will show you the handlebar riser. These are Hepco and Becker
risers. They come with an installation guide. This is the ABE for Germany, the general operating
permit and these are the risers. Very well made. It's written Hepco and Becker on them.
Two centimeter risers. You can also get some three centimeter risers and you get four screws of
course and four black plugs to cover the screws. So these will be installed quite fast. Not that
difficult when you have someone to hold the handlebar for you. So Ronny is already in action. He is
looking for the right tools to take everything off because we have to
de-install the crash guards here on the top because we have to get to the cables and they
are under the side cover here on the left hand side.
So these are the new Hepco and Becker crash guards.
So the next step is to take off the side cover.
I think it's four screws. One very small one here at the top. There it is.
So the side panel is off and now the connectors are somewhere here.
This is the box. CFMoto crafted parts and accessories and inside the box is here they are.
Simple as that. That's all? Yes. That's all. Okay.
First we have to take off the old grips and what is interesting here on both sides it's not
glued. So we have no glue under here. The grips are screwed in with a small screw. You can see it
in there. So quite easy to take them off. Hopefully.
So there we are. One very long screw and that's it. That's how it looks.
The first grip on the left hand side. This is a grip with a switch on it. There it is.
So this new grip is tightened by a spanner. So one screw with an allen key on the back side.
Quite simple. No glue. No nothing. Just a spanner and that's it.
So the best thing is to assemble everything when it's not inside the handlebar.
So that you can bring it in the right position and it's not falling inside the handlebar.
Like that. Just bring it inside.
So one cable tie. The rest connect the other side.
And now the same on the other side. First take off the old one.
This of course is a little bit more complicated because we have to
take off this part here and the other one has to be
attached inside. The cables have to be hung in in this plastic part here.
Now we have to take off this part here. The start switch.
Because there is a screw under it and we have to loosen this one to take off the gas grip.
So there we are. So here is the screw. This one we have to loosen.
Grip off. Easy. All the gas grip cables.
Lower part is inside. The lower cable is inside.
Okay this goes inside here. Click it in and that's it.
So number one and now we have to bring back the switch here with the two screws on the bottom.
It looks good and everything works.
Last step is the hand guards.
Place for the cable. Of course this one has to be a little bit loose so that it can
be turned around. Always take care that this cable here is loose enough.
No tension on it. Works perfect.
Just put some cable ties there. We have to bring this cable here to the other side.
So next step is to connect the cables. There is a red one and a black one.
And they have to be pushed very strong inside so that they are sealed.
Next step is the risers. So we have to take off the old ones.
Installing some risers is quite an easy job. You just have to take care after the
installation that all the cables have no tension. Especially the clutch and brake
cables as well as the gas cables.
So if you are tensioning these screws don't screw one side first and then the other.
Do it always each side in the same distance.
And if you need some information everything is written here in this installation instruction.
And it is 23 Nm. And here you can see that there must be a gap
at the front and at the rear so that there is the same pressure on it.
And then tighten it with 23 Nm.
There we are. Now we have some beautiful small caps
that we can put in here so that we don't see the screws anymore.
Looks a little bit better in black. I think this looks nice.
Just push them in and then ready. So now we have to control all the cables
that there is no tension on any cable. 2 cm is ok. We tried 3 cm last time
and this was a little bit too long. So 2 cm is ok.
Put one more cable tie to bring the new cables together.
So everything is checked. ONI says everything is perfect.
We just put one more cable tie to get the cables of the heated grips a little bit away.
Maybe we should try if they work before we put everything together.
Could be a good idea. What do you think?
If not we bring everything together. So we have 3 positions.
Green, blue and red. Red for hot.
It is blinking again because we just have 12 volts.
I think we need the heated grips. Of course they take a lot of
energy from the battery so I think the engine has to run now.
So next step is to bring everything back together again.
Don't forget the connection of the turn signal.
Just gentle pushing and then the clips get inside these rubber parts.
Click. That's it.
So now the last screws. One small one up here.
Now we have heated grips and I will see
how these risers help me to find a little bit better riding position.
It's not that much. It's just 2 cm but
maybe it helps a little bit to sit a little bit more relaxed.
They are in the same position as before. You can see it here.
And of course you can turn the handlebar a little bit to find a different angle.
But so far I'm quite happy. Ronny, thanks a lot for this great work again.
I have warm hands now. Hopefully.
I will tell you how hot they are. If they are hot or just
medium. At this temperature now with 2, 3, 4 degrees maximum this will help a lot to keep
your fingers warm. And then you have the hand guards which protect your hands a little bit
from the wind. And these risers look very good. Especially with these black caps. Very solid.
Hepco and Becker. I will put all the links down in the video description for the heated grips.
I think the price is... Ronny, what's the price of the heated grips? The original ones?
140. 140 Euro.
Link is down in the video description to the shop of Moto Fun Sports.
They are sending the accessories and grips everywhere. Everywhere in Europe or worldwide?
Worldwide. Worldwide.
So if you want to order these you can get all the accessories for the CF-Moto. Also
the original crash guards, the seat, this nice sun hood here. It's also from
Moto Fun Sports. And I think the windscreen too here. This is the WRS.
You have this windscreen too? Yes.
So I'm quite happy. And this is the look now. I don't know if you have seen it in my last video.
My CF-Moto is completely black now. So it turned from yellow, white, black,
in complete black. And I think it looks quite nice. What do you think?
Yes.
Yeah. Black is better. Black is a little bit more sexy. Yeah. Of course. Of course.
And with the gold here I think it's a nice contrast now.
Okay. So if you are interested in any accessories for the CF-Moto 450 MT or also for the 800 MT,
link is down in the video description to the shop of Moto Fun Sports.
And if you're coming from Berlin and you're looking for a CF-Moto,
you can get all the bikes here in this shop.
So thanks a lot Ronny for great work. I will go out now. It's a little bit late and it's
very cold now. I think we have one degree now. Hopefully it's not raining or freezing.
And I will test the heated grips now.
Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed the video. If you did, please give me a big thumbs up.
If you are riding ride safe, it's very cold outside, maybe a little bit slippery.
I see you in the next one. Take care and cheers.
