Building a killer bow setup on a budget? In this video, I break down the 6 essential things you need to grab right now to take your rig from basic to ready-for-the-field without breaking the bank.
I got some friends that have some high dollar rigs.
And then when they see this thing, they're like, man, no way.
But I mean, it does, it does pretty good for what it is.
So to have a good functioning budget bow, I think these are the six things
that you need to buy in order to do that.
If you're interested in any of this stuff, I'm going to leave the links down below.
Feel free to check them out.
Purchasing through the links will directly help the channel
and every help is greatly appreciated.
So thank you.
First thing that I would get.
And in this order is the stabilizer.
This is a 12 inch stabilizer that I got from Amazon.
And the reason why I went with the 12 inch was because I don't
have the rear stabilizer on this.
This is just purely the front.
Now, I think I would have went a little smaller, maybe with a 10 up front,
possibly in an eight in the back.
Having both makes the bow kind of sick.
The 12 inch stabilizer would be the first thing that I would get.
And trust me, it made a huge difference in my shooting.
I noticed a complete difference.
Before that, I had an eight inch on it.
And I mean, my bow was all over the place when I went to try to shoot this thing.
So having this 12 inch really made a difference.
The second thing that I got was this Elwan drop away rest.
Now, this rest here is a limb driven rest.
So essentially what that means is that it's tied to my limb.
So when you pull back the bow, the limb flexes
and it causes the rest to stand up or to
to move up, which in turn your arrow be in it.
And when you pull back, your arrow actually rise and set into place.
And then when you shoot your limbs flex back
and it drops away, this rest causing your arrow to have a better flight path.
Now, I noticed before that I had an old original rest on this thing
and it really caused my arrows to be kind of all over the place.
But I didn't know any better until I actually got this Elwan.
Huge difference.
My groups tightened up.
It's a it's a huge blessing to have this thing.
So highly recommend this guy.
The third thing that I got was this wrist sling from Sonia.
Pretty cool.
I mean, they make other ones out there, but this one's awesome
because it reminded me of America and baseball, which totally in
and it actually makes a huge difference, right?
So visually, it looks good.
It's pretty easy to install.
I mean, just a screw and you're pretty much done.
It goes on the backside of your stabilizer.
And I mean, it makes a difference, right?
That way you don't drop your bow after you shoot.
Kind of an important thing.
The fourth thing that I got was arrows.
I think upgrading to a better arrow in the future is good.
But for me and my old bow here, these pine nails are pretty.
I mean, they're pretty good, I think.
I mean, it's a 300 spine.
I'm shooting 65 pounds, and I think it's probably a little overkill.
But for what I'm shooting and the the fact that they're their target arrows,
they're I don't know that I can complain too much.
I could probably go a lot softer.
But honestly, they've done great.
And I've been able to tune my bow to to hit pretty much where I want it to go.
The fifth thing that I think you should invest in is a nice harness
for your binoculars and your range finder.
So this is by Lone Trail.
These guys are awesome.
Portion of their earnings gets donated to a foundation for veterans,
which is awesome.
So go those guys.
This thing is pretty nice.
I mean, everything is magnetized, so I can use the magnet
and it will stay open or use magnets to keep it shut.
It's a suede.
I don't I think it's called C-50 or something like that, the material.
But anyhow, it's really nice.
Huge fan of it.
They just got tons of pockets.
I could have my puller range finder phone binos in there.
Heck, a sandwich if I needed to.
It's all there for me.
And then the sixth and last thing that I think everyone should need.
And I've been getting grief about this in the comments.
But this hat, this hat is amazing.
Now, all joking aside, the link will be in the description.
It's an amazing hat.
It's kept my ears frickin warm the whole time.
It's like, I don't know, it's like 40 degrees outside right now.
And I feel pretty darn warm.
I've been getting grief about this everywhere I go.
I've been a baseball hat guy the vast majority of my life.
And wearing this thing around town, people look at me kind of funny,
but I'm actually the one laughing while they're freezing their heads off.
I have this thing.
I have nice warm ears.
I mean, it looks relatively funny, but honestly, it's great.
So if you're curious about that, I highly recommend it.
Other than that, guys, I mean, this is this is the bow build
that I'll be using come September to take my first elk, God willing.
And I'm looking forward to it.
It's been a process to kind of get this thing dialed in.
This is my first call around this first hunt with a bow in general.
And I want to see if I could do it with this old bow.
I mean, this whole thing ran me under five hundred dollars.
And I think it's fully capable of harvesting a elk here in September.
I don't think you need to spend two or three thousand dollars on a rig
to harvest something that you could spend a quarter of the price with.
I mean, sure, they're nice, but I think you could do it with this as well.
Also, with that, I don't think I'll be doing any more upgrades to this bow.
I feel like it does pretty great as it is.
I was thinking about a site and adding a site to this thing.
But I mean, I'm shooting.
I want to try to stay within 40 yards.
And that's kind of what I've been shooting at.
You know, I dabble with 45, 50, but for the most part, 40's been my go to.
So that that's the plan with it.
I'm going to keep it just like this.
And again, this thing is a Hoyt ZR100, nothing fancy.
It's about 20, over 20 years old.
I think it was made in 05, which is a long time ago, right?
Technology has come a long way since then.
But I'm pretty I'm pretty excited.
It's cool to see.
I got some friends that have some high dollar rigs.
And then when they see this thing, they're like, man, no way.
But I mean, it does.
It does pretty good for what it is.
So I appreciate you guys watching.
Thank you.
