Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is all the rage in the cosmetic industry at the moment, helping the skin look younger and smoother without taking a knife to your face or adding any toxins. Acupuncture is the basis of the treatment as well as facial massage, gua sha, and jade rolling. In my video, I take you behind the scenes to my session and share the before and after results.

Beauty, beauty, beauty. Hey, I'm Rochelle and for the last couple months I've been doing
facial acupuncture and today I'm going to take you to one of my sessions. So here we go. First,
mask. Mask on. Mask on, mask on. Hi, this is Dr. Tiffany, my naturopath and facial acupuncturist.
She's going to give you a little bit of background on what she's going to do
to me today. Okay, here we go. You're on. Hi everyone, I'm Dr. Tiffany. I am a naturopath
practicing in Burlington. Today we're going to show you some insight into the facial acupuncture
treatments that Rochelle has been getting. A little bit of insight into how it all started.
Basically with facial acupuncture we work on three main things. Lifting and toning the muscles of the
face, the appearance of wrinkles, and the overall glow of the skin. So we use different types of
needles and different areas of needling on the face and around the body to support those three
mechanisms. And then what are we working on with me? With Rochelle, we're focusing on the area
around her eyes. Lifting and toning and some sort of small fine-tuning wrinkles underneath.
And we've also recently learned that she has very strong muscles in her jaw. So the acupuncture
works to reduce some of that as well, which changed the aesthetics of her face. Wicked!
And how long do you put the needles in my face? Is it like 15 minutes? Yeah, the needles are in for
15 minutes. And we do, with Rochelle, we've been doing treatments twice a week for five weeks.
Today is our 10th treatment and that's supposed to get us a good result and maintain
over the next few months. Wicked! Let's do it. Special pills. We use Arnica homeopathic to
reduce bruising. And they taste like sugar. Cute little things. I've never looked at myself while
she does this. We're gonna start with a little bit of facial massage. Massage. Close my eyes.
This allows us to kind of get the muscles toned and prepared for the acupuncture. But it also,
as a practitioner, gives me the opportunity to assess the tension and the tone of the muscles
and whether it's the same on either side of the face. Oh. And that will sometimes dictate
where we're going to treat. Has it changed in the last 10 sessions? I would say particularly
around your jawline, yes. It feels nice. I like that part. It feels nice too.
My favorite part of the process.
So with the facial massage, as well as the tools we're going to use next, we try and follow the
contours of the muscles. Very tight in there. More so on the right side.
And Michelle is not experiencing this, but some women in their older age will get
some wrinkles along the neck or a little bit of sagging under the chin.
So we can use different acupuncture points to support that as well. Oh, down there.
Oh man. Stay tuned in five years.
Okay, so next is the gua sha tool. And we use this basically similar to the facial massage
to kind of tone and relax the muscles of the face. And we follow the same contours.
And this is part of Michelle's everyday routine now. Yes. So it's about five minutes with this
and the jade roller. Nice way to introduce some self-care. I usually do it in the morning
or in the evening. You can really see her skin becoming invigorated as I like to say.
Lots of blood flow in the area. And this alone will help with facial tone as well,
even if you don't do the acupuncture. Really? Yeah. Invigorated.
And the jade roller is nice and cool for cooling and affecting circulation in the area.
Also helps with muscle tone. And we're following the same contours again.
And we'll repeat this after the needles as well to do some more cooling and prevent bruising.
And there's two ends. The small end we'll use around the eyes.
And this is also part of Michelle's daily routine. Mm-hmm. I feel like you might wave faster than
we do it. Roll, roll, roll, roll, roll. And I count one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
eight. Now we do three to five strokes in each area with the gua sha and the jade roller.
Okay, now we are prepped and ready for the acupuncture.
This is where I psych myself up because there's so many needles going in my face.
Psych up, psych up, psych up, psych up. We've got a little bit of alcohol first to keep everything
clean. Yeah, this is where I start to get nervous. All the spots on my face.
Beauty, beauty, beauty, beauty, beauty, beauty. No pain, no gain. No pain, no gain.
And this little noise that she makes here lets me know it's coming. The first needles we use are
the tiny little ones. They're three millimeters long and that's what we use in the small wrinkles
to promote collagen formation, which fills the wrinkles. So with Michelle, we focus underneath
the eyes and between the eyes with these guys. Yeah. And they're teeny tiny but they still make
marks. I'll do the pain threshold. It's like a three. If we rate it on a scale of one to ten,
that's like a three. It's a three. We get more tender as we get closer to her eye.
It's not so bad. 2.5. Oh, okay. Yeah. Two. Hey, we're doing well. Yeah.
Oh, 3.5. So with Rochelle, we're really fine-tuning because she doesn't have any
crazy wrinkles we're dealing with. So these ones should be enough to completely minimize the...
So this is enough to minimize the appearance of the wrinkles. If there were any
more prominent ones, it just kind of decreases the size or the depth of the wrinkles.
There's still more because I can hear the noise.
We're going to do between your eyes now. On the ridge of your nose.
Seven. You're really dry here today. These ones usually aren't so bad for you.
These ones I added because I saw them. It's also my fault.
All right, we're going to leave it at that. But we're not done yet. Nope. Now we have to
stimulate the muscle. There's these other noises I hear.
Yeah, those ones. So it's a different type of needle, a little bit longer, a little bit wider.
Some spots can be very tender. These ones are for her tight muscles in here.
And with the muscle needles, we always do it bilaterally, which means on both sides.
Even if you only have a concern on one side. So some women will say, oh, only my right
eyelid is droopy. But we do it on either side so that your muscle tone is even.
These ones are Rochelle's favorite.
Why is it so bad? Okay, good.
Now I can feel it. Okay, we'll leave it for a minute. And if you want me to adjust that one,
there we go.
So these ones up here are to sort of lift the eyebrow area. And these ones here will lift the
cheek and relax those muscles that are used for chewing. So now we leave them for 15 minutes.
Normally at this time, we would do needles in both arms and legs as well.
Okay, then we'll get a picture of me afterwards. I'll be reinvigorated.
Okay, I'm all done. Invigorated.
The cheeks are always lifted. We always do a before and after picture and we always
get a huge difference. And then my brows are a bit lifted as well.
That was the original concern was the droopy eyelid. Yes, yes.
The wrinkles are hard to see unless you really go close. Yeah, almost non-existent.
Yes, I'll show some before and after pictures. If you want to learn more,
ask me and I'll give you Dr. Tiffany's info. Okay, bye-bye.
