We are all packed up at the hotel. We're heading to the cruise port now. We're going to take a
shuttle with the fam jam and it should be able to get on the ship around 11 30 so that'll be fun.
I'll take, I'll take those two. He'll need help.
Where are you going? On the cruise.
And we're off. We are leaving Fort Lauderdale for Miami to go on the MSC World America.
We're all super excited. So excited we fell asleep, but that's okay. It's a long drive,
about 45 minutes from Fort Lauderdale to the new cruise terminal. And this terminal is fantastic.
It's underground parking and drop-off, which means you and your luggage aren't getting soaked if it
is raining like it was today. MSC's embarkation process is fantastic. We were on the ship in
under 30 minutes and it was super smooth until I lost a bag, but that wasn't MSC's fault.
So we've made it onto the MSC World America. We have checked in. It was a little chaotic.
Our stroller, bag, carry got stuck in the machine. We didn't realize it until we got on the ship. So
I had to go back, go through, go to the lost and found in the port, but they had it, which was
fantastic. So we just came up from the Dolce de Vita bar. Our room was ready super early. I think
so they got that ready very quick. We're just chilling in Port Miami and we are going to go
tour around the ship a little bit now that we can drop off all of our stuff. We dropped off
our carry on and stroller, that kind of stuff. So we can go a footloose and fancy free.
We pre-purchased MSC's Fun Pass for the sailing, which is great as there's two arcades and multiple
pinball machines. So the Fun Pass is going to be well used, especially with a fishing game like
this for my son, because that's his absolute favorite thing to do. As we're exploring MSC
World America for the first time in the World Galleria is the LED screen on the ceiling. This
is so cool. It's constantly changing and such a unique and awesome feature on the ship. Continuing
our journey of exploring the ship for the first time, we head out to the World Promenade. This
spot is awesome. There's the coffee shop, there's the Greek restaurant, sports bar, candy shop,
and you have four glass elevators that surround this area. Make it very cool to get around and
very, very pretty. As we're walking around the candy shop, we realized that there is a back spot
here where you can just chill, have a drink, have a snack, and take in some amazing views. Right now
in port, we're staring at the Icon of the Seas. Standing at the back of the ship and looking out
over the World Promenade is so amazing. It's beautiful. You have the palm tree lights that
light up constantly and then they do the light show at night. There's also the two elevators on
this section of the ship that take you directly up to the higher up decks where you have the
harbor playground, which is a very good spot for kids. The next stop on our day one journey
of the ship, we are heading to the Lego Playroom. With a kid who absolutely loves Lego, this is sure
to be a hit while we're on this ship for the next week. There you go. Go forward. Past the grass.
Right there. That's our room. Look at the big slide.
Yeah, we look right down on that watch shop right there. Grandpa's never allowed to go to.
After exploring a lot of the family spots, we wanted to take a quick break and chill before
we have to go and get ready for dinner. So we stopped at the Masters of the Sea and the Gym
Project, the two-story bar. This is such a cool and unique spot on the ship. As we're chilling,
drinking a beer, you actually see the MSC staff working on the brew tanks. They make their own
beer on the ship and it's actually quite good. It's been fun watching all the other ships leave
port. We are the last to leave. We'll be leaving shortly. Icon is just even behind us. Before we
do that, we're going to go down for our dinner at the main dining room. We are eating at La Foglie.
I think it's on deck six, deck five, something like that. We'll figure it out. We are with the family.
We went to the pizza place, whatever they call that, for lunch. Had some chicken wings,
french fries, chips, guac, all that stuff. It's really good. Really enjoyed the chicken wings.
It's like a buffalo sauce. That was really good. So we'll go try to test out the main dining room
and see how the MSC World of America is. We got Icon leaving right now. We have the infinite ocean
view balcony, which is really cool because you have like this window thing. You have no
balcony, but you can stay nice and warm, temperature controlled as you're in your room and you still
get a nice ocean view and get to experience the weather, which is really cool. So far, I've loved
this room. It's got a decent size to it. So you have a two full beds plus the just the normal space
you would get in a cruise room and a little bit more. So that is fantastic. I don't know if you
can hear the shouting from the ship, but that is a lot of fun. That's the last one, then it's our turn
as the icon of the seas, as the world's biggest cruise ship. Heading down to dinner now turned out
to be at La Foglie at deck five on the opposite end of the ship. So we had a little bit of a hike
to get there. Night one at the main dining room was definitely a success. Lots of options, enjoyed
the food and definitely, definitely loved the New York cheesecake. We decided to go for a post-dinner
walk and we wanted to see the world promenade at night. The light up palm trees are so cool and
unique. I've never seen anything like this anywhere. As we're walking around, my son spotted the cotton
candy and we couldn't deprive him of that. So we're going to have a drink and he's going to
munch on some cotton candy. So dinner was great and we stopped. We got some cotton candy and now
we are at the sports bar having a little drink and having a good time. He is very sticky.
Our first day on World America has been a huge success. We're absolutely loving this ship.
Tomorrow is our first full sea day on our way to Roatan.
Can't wait to explore this ship even more tomorrow.
